So there you have it. The first three things got done so quickly, that I got real optimistic. But with the following months there came a downward trend and hit an all time low in April. April 2007 was one of worst months of my life, even though I laugh at it now. I don’t ever want to be there again.

And it’s now time for a new list!

Last Sunday Of 2007

watch care bears movie ii a new generation online So I wanted to enjoy this day, the last Sunday of 2007, by myself. I woke up at 10 am, having slept quite late. A couple of my cousins and an aunt were at my place for a visit. I sat with them and enjoyed a nice long chat. Later my mom & dad went with them to my sister’s place so I had the place to myself. It was 12 pm and I hadn’t even had breakfast yet.

I read a bit and then went out to grab stuff for my lunch – instant noodles, chips & a large sprite. The sprite in particular felt so good as I put it in the freezer and it was like slushy sprite as I drank it. Not that it was a hot day; au contraire, it was actually a quite pleasant day and perfect to stay at home. The wind was glorious and blowing in through the open windows & balcony door for full effect. I watched some CSI : Miami, CSI : NY and bits of football matches. After lunch I even watched the last double episode of Friends to put me in the mood.

Now its time to reflect back on the year that was 2007.

Arsenal 3 Everton 1

Last night I got to watch Arsenal went all stylistic & ballistic &  go 2 points clear of Manchester United at the top of the league. Arsenal went to the half time break a goal down to Tim Cahill’s 19 minute effort but retaliated with 4 second half goals, thanks to Eduardo’s double strike and late goals from Emmanuel Adebayor and Tomas Rosicky in a fiesty clash that saw both sides finish with 10 men at Goodison Park. Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner was sent off for a second booking after a nasty two-footed lunge on Andrew Johnson. Everton’s Mikel Arteta saw red for an elbow on Cesc Fabregas with six minutes to go before Rosicky struck with a low drive in stoppage time.

Best part is that Manchester United lost 1-2 in an away match @ West Ham United. Dimitar Berbatov scored four goals, including his first hat-trick for Tottenham, as they beat Reading 6-4 in an extraordinary match at White Hart Lane. Chelsea heaped more pressure on Newcastle manager Sam Allardyce with a 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge that meant the visitors had taken just one point from a possible nine.

Tie Me Down

Today was an important day for the company I work for; we are one of 33 branch offices across the country and about 5 abroad. Our office is almost a year old and for the first time our CEO came to visit the center. So it was more than your average business as usual and the leadership team onwards till the center head were dressed up in a tie for the men and sarees for the women.

Everyone who knows me well, knows that I hate formal wear and I especially hate ties. Its ok if someone else is wearing it but I can’t stand to have that makeshift noose around my neck. Trussed up like a turkey, looking like a monkey boy or a corporate monkey atleast. That is not me. I like to be comfortable and I am comfortable in casuals. I work better and I feel more confident in jeans. I hate the superficialness of wearing a tie and I was happy when I could take the damn thing off.

Pissing Off The Religions

Hi Manoj, I don’t disagree that there are many good, moderate Christians who do a lot of good. And oh, I am not leaving Hindus or Muslims or Jews or any other followers of organized religion. You see, even if the average Christian/Muslim/Hindu/Jew or whatever, doesn’t do much harm, they contribute to the madmen! They should be aware of their contribution. Those same average religious people are fueling the flames of the nutjobs like Al Qaeda and the fundamentalists. And the Hindus – we have the RSS and the righteous groups that will maim, gang rape, murder, vandalize & destroy in the name of Ram, Shyam, Krishna, Shiva and their numerous other buggers! But the average temple going dude contributes to the godmen, the fakirs, the priests, the swamis and the political parties who hide AK-47s in temples & molest alterboys and unsuspecting devotees alike.

Just like you said it isn’t fair to print this on Christmas as its their holiday and special day, they SHOULD think of the atrocities committed in the name of their god of peace & love. And they should be ashamed. As should you. As should I.

I’m not done. I know very little of the Jews since my scope of interaction with them is very little but they too should be ashamed. Its them vs the rest of the world. Their private warfare against what an asshole called Hitler and his minions did before & during the 2nd World War.

The rest of the world isn’t a target for Muslims who think they have been violated everytime someone else does something that isn’t agreed upon in the Koran. Muslim fundamentalist morons, think – your book, paper, versus a human being. Which is more important. The human ofcourse, your book doesn’t even matter.

Satisfied that I pissed off the Muslims as well?

First understand that we are all humans. Nothing more. Any other label that we have is superficial. Its the only thing that binds us. We should be attacked by a superior Alien race before we ever learn. Perhaps them all mankind will unite as one and beat them (without Will Smith’s crass dialouges or sappy American sentiment, lol)! Or maybe they will annihilate us easily and in their victory celebrations they will toast the non-exisistant entities that leaned the balance of the war against us in their favour – the gods & the religions!

VH1’s 100 Greatest Songs Of The 90

Vh1 has a list of 100 Greatest Songs of the 90s, which you can find on their site. I like some of their songs but a lot of them I just can’t digest! What’s with all those stoopid rap songs! And the Bacteria Boys? Yuck! I’m pleasantly surprised that Run Around by Blues Traveler made the list – I love that song but I didn’t think that it was so well thought off. And putting Right Said Fred, Dee Lite & WTF Kris Kross in there? That was just too low VH1 dudes!

Sens Update – Dec 27th

watch keeping the faith online I have 5 games to update you on. Last night (today morning if you live in India), the Senators beat the surging Buffalo Sabres 5-3. Antoine Vermette, Daniel Alfredsson, Wade Redden, Mike Fisher & Dany Heatley scored a goal each. Heatley also had two assists to snap Buffalo’s 6 game winning streak, in a match which saw Redden become the first defenseman in Senators history to score 100 goals!

On the 23rd Ottawa beat the New York Rangers 3-1 with goals from Chris Kelly, Jason Spezza & Fisher to bounce back from a 3-4 defeat to the Chicago Blackhawks the previous night. Heatley had two goals in that game and Dean McAmmond had one. Two days prior to that Spezza & Alfredsson had the goals in a 2-3 loss to the Atlanta Thrashers.

On the 18th of this month the Sens had an away win at Boston as they beat the Bruins 3-2 with a brace of goals by Spezza & one by Luke Richardson. Now, after 32 games with 24 wins, 8 loses & 4 ots for a Eastern Conference leading 52 points. They are 5 points behind Detroit for the league lead.

RIP Benazir Bhutto

Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Mrs.Benazir Bhutto was assassinated today while at a political rally of the Pakistan Political Party at Rawalpindi. Her death was due to the combined suicide bomb attack and shooting. The Harvard & Oxford educated Bhutto was contesting for the upcoming elections to be held in Pakistan. A suicidal assassin reportedly fired shots in Bhutto’s direction just prior to detonating an explosive pellet-ridden vest, killing approximately 15 people and wounding many more.

The attack occurred just after Ms. Bhutto left the rally, where she had given a campaign address to party supporters in the run-up to the January 2008 parliamentary elections. She died at 6:16 pm local time at Rawalpindi General Hospital. At the hospital where she died, some smashed glass and wailed, chanting slogans against President Pervez Musharraf.

Who knows what the repercussions will be for our neighbours in an already volatile state and how it will affect India? On a personal note, I am saddened as I admired her a lot.

In The Name Of Jesus

So, Christians, did you have a nice Christmas eve & Christmas day? Sat with your family and close friends and had nice dinners with some drinks, I hope? Opened some presents and watched with joy as your loved ones opened the ones you gifted them? Sang yourself silly along with the kids who memorized those carols? Watched a tv special or two and a movie about the life & times of Christ?

the teacher online If so, now think of the hordes of non-Christians your religion & its followers murdered while spreading the gospels and forcefully converting multitudes into its fold. Think of the atrocities committed in the name of Jesus and still being committed as we speak. Think of the Christian Crusades! Think of the wars & political games that are stilled being played, like in Iraq. Oh we may call it American greed or Bush’s propaganda or the war for controlling oil…..but shit by any other name will smell like shit!

Merry Christmas and a wonderful Boxing Day!!

Peace!

Star Trek V : The Final Frontier

Star Trek V : The Final Frontier, which is, as the title says, the 5th of the Star Trek movie series and 5th with the Original Series cast members. I haven’t seen the one that comes just before Final Frontier, Star Trek IV : The Voyage Home. So that movie and the very first one are now the only two that I haven’t seen of the series. The cast includes William Shatner as Admiral James T. Kirk, Leonard Nimoy as Captain Spock, DeForest Kelley as Commander (Dr.) Leonard McCoy, James Doohan as Commander/Captain Montgomery Scott, George Takei as Commander Hikaru Sulu, Walter Koenig as Commander Pavel Chekov & Nichelle Nichols as Commander Uhura. Guest starring are Laurence Luckinbill as Sybok, David Warner as John Talbot, Todd Bryant as the Klingon Klaa, Spice Williams-Crosby as Vixis & Cynthia Gouw as Caithlin Dar. The movie stars on the desolate planet Nimbus III, where Sybok, the half-brother of Spock and a renegade Vulcan who had embraced his emotions as the path to true knowledge leads his gang to capture Klingon, Federation & Romulan representatives, who are based on the planet.

Kirk, McCoy & Spock are on shore leave in Yosemite National Park and their vacation is cut short as they are called on to mount a rescue mission. Uhura & Scotty were in charge of repairs of the Enterprise, which weren’t completed when they get the orders for the mission. Upon arriving at Nimbus III, Kirk, Spock & McCoy mount a rescue operatio of the hostages, but they learn that it was only a ploy by Sybok to take control of a Federation spaceship. Sybok uses his unique ability to share with and help conquer a person’s greatest emotional trauma to gain the trust of most of the crew. McCoy accepts the experience, reliving his father’s death (he euthanised his father to end his pain, but learned afterwards that a cure had been developed a short time later). Spock also accepts the experience, reliving his birth (being half bred of Vulcan and Human, he was never fully accepted by his father). However, Kirk denies Sybok, telling him that the pain experience is what makes them Human. Klaa follows the Enterprise in his Klingon bird of prey.

Sybok takes control of the ship and heads it to the Great Barrier, an energy field, to reach a mythical planet called Sha Ka Ree, where a mysterious God-like entity awaits. Giving back the command of the ship to Kirk, Sybok leads the Enterprise through the barrier and to a planet. Sybok, Spock, Kirk & McCoy head to the surface on a shuttle and approach on foot on the barren planet until an entity appears in front of them. The entity asks them how they got there and when told of the Enterprise, it demands that the ship be brought closer to it, so it can spread its wisdom throughout the galaxy. When the skeptical Kirk questions the entity’s motivation (“What does God need with a starship?”), it turns malevolent, harming Kirk. McCoy and Spock rush to his rescue, and even Spock has to ask for an answer to the question. Sybok then realizes that the alien entity is actually the manifestation of his own arrogance, seeking to escape the Great Barrier.

I liked that a lot, God=Arrogance

Realizing his mistake, Sybok sacrifices himself to delay the evil being long enough for Enterprise to launch a torpedo. However, while Sybok was killed, the entity wasn’t, and the Enterprise had enough power to beam up two people. Kirk tells Scotty to take Spock and McCoy, leaving himself on the surface of the planet with the entity. Spock was able convince the Klingon ambassador to order Klaa (who followed the Enterprise into the Barrier and to the planet) to rescue Kirk rather than kill him. Klaa’s Bird-of-Prey suddenly de-cloaks and destroys the alien with a phaser blast. Kirk is beamed aboard, where he receives an apology from Klaa himself, who admits that his attack on the Enterprise was not authorized by the Klingon government. The crews of both vessels and Sybok’s captives enjoy a peaceful celebration of their newfound détente. The film ends with Kirk, Bones, and Spock resuming their vacation in Yosemite National Park.

Wintersong – Sarah McLachlan

Sarah McLachlan is my all time favourite singer. There was a time in my life, when I felt that I could never relate to a female singer, since I was a guy! Ok, I was dumb enough to think that. I count many ladies among my collection and Sarah is at the top of that list. She has some of the most beautiful songs, with deep, personal lyrics that can touch your soul and pull at your heart strings. And her voice – what a voice! People call her music goth-pop or gothic pop-rock, but I just call it pure Sarah. In 2006, she came out with Wintersong a Grammy nominated holiday album released in October 2006. It was produced by longtime collaborator Pierre Marchand and includes contributions from bassist Jim Creeggan of the Barenaked Ladies. The album also includes a duet with Jazz musician Diana Krall.

The album debuted @ #42 on the Billboard charts, selling about 20,000 in its first week. It later peaked @ #7 and has so far sold 759,162 copies in the US & over 200,000 copies in Canada. World wide sales are over a million.

Here are the tracks listed:

  1. “Happy Xmas (War Is Over)” (John Lennon, Yoko Ono)
  2. “What Child Is This (Greensleeves)” (William Chatterton Dix)
  3. “River” (Joni Mitchell)
  4. “Wintersong” (Sarah McLachlan)
  5. “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” (Walter Kent, Kim Gannon)
  6. “O Little Town of Bethlehem” (Phillips Brooks, Lewis Redner)
  7. “The First Noel / Mary Mary” (Traditional)
  8. “Silent Night” (Josef Mohr, Franz X. Gruber)
  9. “Song for a Winter’s Night” (Gordon Lightfoot)
  10. “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” (Hugh Martin, Ralph Blane)
  11. “In the Bleak Mid Winter” (Traditional)
  12. “Christmas Time Is Here” featuring Diana Krall (Vince Guaraldi)

Appropriate for this time of year!

Intensity In 10 Cities

Have you ever had a day off from work and been so disappointed? That is the way I feel about today. First of all, read what happened yesterday and then listen to this. The power went out last night around 1 am and I wasn’t feeling sleepy at all but since there was nothing to do, I tried to sleep. It was impossible as the mosquitoes kept buzzing in my ear and biting me. I tossed and turned and finally the power came back on. Only to go out again! I had to open the windows to have a little cool breeze blowing in and screw the mosquitoes. But sleep was hard to come by. Finally I feel asleep around 5 am and woke up by 11.

It was the phone that woke me up. Office stuff. As soon as I had a coffee in me, I was rubbing my eyes and opening my official mail inbox. Stuff was not getting done and I was stuck till lunch time which was around 2 pm. For a while it seemed that I might have to go to work today as well. It was touch and go for a couple of hours. From 4 it was back to phone calls and replying mails and excel sheets. I also had to wait for people to call me back. Finally I kept the phone as I said bye to my team lead and wondering where the day had gone! It was almost 6 pm!
