Today, February 26th, marks the 22nd anniversary of the Liberation of Kuwait from the Iraqi invasion. After almost 7 months of occupation the nation got liberated after Iraq a war waged by a U.N.-authorized Coalition force from 34 nations led by the United States, against Iraq in response to Iraq’s invasion and annexation of Kuwait. Although the official declaration of ceasefire by then US President George Bush & the Kuwaiti liberation was done on the 28th, it is the 26th that the Kuwaitis celebrate.

I’ll never forget the day that Iraq invaded Kuwait and watching the scenes on tv – it was August 2nd, 1990, which was also my 14th birthday. For Saddam and Iraq to invade my birth nation (although I never got citizenship and am fully Indian, I still do consider Kuwait with plenty of fondness) on the birthday of a 14 year old who loved Kuwait and who had just left that country for good, 3 years ago – it was a bitter pill to swallow personally. I remember having a great old party with my relatives and some friends and we were at my sister’s friend’s aunt’s house to drop her off when the news came on the tv. This friend of my sister was also a former Kuwaiti born & raised child and her parents were still in Kuwait while she studied in a college here in India. She was crying and praying for her parents and family friends and hoping that they would be alright and come back to India safely. I was shocked and couldn’t believe the images that I was watching on the screen in front of me. I hated Saddam Hussain and all Iraqis about as much as one can at that time. Ofcourse I don’t hate Iraqis but yeah – Saddam got what he deserved and should have gotten quite a few years ago and I hope he suffered a whole lot!

And those idiots who supported Saddam – and there were a few in our country and in my own city / state – fuck you idiots!

Me -> Supreme Ruler Of Earth

If you were supreme ruler of planet Earth for a day, what changes would you make?

Oh I so wish that were a post that I could apply too. I would do so well as the supreme ruler of our planet and even if it only for one day I’d make so many changes that the world would be a better place!

First, I’d ban all unnecessary political parties and make all them worthless assholes get real jobs. Do something useful for a change. I’d also make me supreme ruler forever so I can continue making all these awesome rules and changes in this world. Then I’d make it mandatory that all religious places or worship be banned, all religions made obsolete and instead all these buildings converted to make affordable or even free housing for those who are homeless or do not have a proper place of residence. With real food & clothes being served to them. Mandatory jobs for all these people so they can get back on their feet. Or should I make Friday part of the weekend and give every new baby chocolate eclairs?

Holidays will be a must; people need to rest & relax from the rigours of daily life. 2 days off and 5 days working for everyone and it is compulsory. No strikes or harthals or bandhs allowed. Borders will be just for keeping things in check, nationalities will be a thing of the past. Everyone is a human and the earth is our home. So no nationalities or nationalism. Sports will be a must however and teams will be based on their location but no nations fighting with each other. Racism will be made illegal, gods all chucked out and places of worship & idols to be destroyed and religions to be abolished – no hindusim, no chrisianity, no scientology, no judiasm, no islam, no youslam! All holy books to be thrown away and burnt! Science, music, arts and creativity will be encouraged and we will spend all our efforts to make life better for everyone. And oh – can’t forget the pets! Dogs, cats and other animals to get shelters and adopting them will be encouraged. 1 family of 4 or 5 can have 2 dogs & 2 cats or more! Take care of them.

Space exploration will be given the next most important status. Cause we’re gonna need it. Oh and marijuana will be legalized for everyone! What else?

Do You Use MS Outlook?

How many of you use Microsoft Outlook for managing your emails outside of the office? What about for managing your personal emails like from gmail, yahoo & hotmail/msn?

I’ve been using Outlook or Outlook Express for office work from 2004 onwards with the brief exception being for my last job who didn’t have their own email setup. That would be the period between March 2011 till July 2012. But strictly only for my office emails. 2004 was the first time I ever used it and I loved the application. I’m now using MS Outlook at my current office and I’m thinking of integrating my gmail & hotmail accounts to Outlook and use it at home. If any of you do use it for your personal emails as well, do you find it better than the actual websites offering the mail facilities?

I find the software easy to use and like setting up alerts, various folders and the tools. It’s the perfect option for office & personal usage.
