Unforgettable – Season 2

Season 1 of Unforgettable ended May 8, 2012 and the show was cancelled by CBS.¬†¬†TNT¬†and¬†Lifetime¬†soon expressed interest in picking up the show, but ultimately passed on the series. On June 29, 2012, CBS reversed course, and confirmed that¬†Unforgettable¬†would return for a second season in summer 2013 with an order for 13 episodes. Cutting shot the episode run from 22 in season 1 to just 13 for season 2 after a gap of a year could be the kiss of death for this show but things were not done for it. CBS premier the season 2 opener on July 28, 2013 and then has only broadcast 7 of the 13 episodes, waiting for who knows what! That’s terrible. The 7th episode was aired on Sep 8th, 2013 and then episode 8 is scheduled for April 4th, 2014. Most shows would not recover from these long gaps but the number of viewers from the first 7 episodes was enough for CBS to renew the show for a third season of 13 episodes to premiere Summer 2014.

Whew! This show has spunk and a tenacity, just like it’s lead character. However we have changes to the cast. Carrie Wells (Poppy Montgomery) & Lt. Al Burns (Dylan Walsh) are now with Major Cases Section of the NYPD and have a new boss, the rich & influential Eliot Delson (Dallas Roberts). Tawny Cypress¬†as Cherie Rollins-Murray, a former decorated FBI agent & James Hiroyuki Liao¬†as detective & technical expert Jay Lee round out the team. Carrie & Al insist that Dr. Joanne Webster (Jane Curtin), the gifted but crusty Chief Medical Examiner also join the team and their wish is granted. Carrie and Al’s high conviction rate brings them to the attention of NYPD’s Major Crime Division (MCD). They are requested by the MCD to investigate a high-profile kidnapping case in Manhattan. A 11 year old girl, Lara, was kidnapped on her way to a soccer game. They think that it has been orchestrated by a group suspected in two previous high profile kidnappings. The kidnapping of Lara also brings back memories of her murdered young sister to Carrie. Carrie and Al must race against time and save Lara as the group always stays one step ahead of them. A team of robbers have been robbing high end places in different cities. MCD gets a tip that they are about to hit a bank in New York. After capturing one of the member of the gang, Carrie goes undercover in her place. Carrie and MCD must now work together to nab the gang’s leader, a notorious thief who never shows his face.

A businessman is murdered in a high class hotel. Carrie and Al are asked to investigate the case and they are unable to ascertain why he was murdered. On further investigation they discover that his death was collateral damage in a larger plot to assassinate a diplomat by a dangerous group. Carrie and Al investigate the apparent suicide death of Eugene Lustig, a professor who was famous for his work on Terra Cognita, the new source of human memory. Eugene was the scientist who helped Carrie during her period of depression. She was part of a group who had the same skill as hers. She must now track them down in order to find the killer. When an Afghani cab driver is found murdered,Carrie and Al are brought in and informed that he was a government informant. He was helping the government in the surveillance and capture of terrorists. As it turns into a matter of national security, Carrie and Al must race against time to apprehend the real culprit before they blow up some place in New York. A young man is found murdered in the driver’s seat of an expensive sports car when he was delivering it to a diplomat. As Carrie and Al investigate each clue, it leads them to a different culprit with different motives. They must solve the crime before the diplomat leaves the country. An urban explorer is found dead in a library with symptoms similar to that of Ebola virus. It is later ascertained that the explorer died due to continuous exposure to RDX. Carrie and Al investigate and deduce that the urban explorer and his close friend were on a treasure hunt believed to be hidden under the streets of New York. They must now follow the clues left by him and find the treasure before the streets underneath New York are blown up.

A doctor is frantic when confronted with her former rapist but Carrie & Al uncover the fact that he was wrongly identified. The team heads to the Hamptons, living in Elliot’s lovely cottage house while investigating a murder in yacht nation. There are two episodes that deal with the encountering and capture of a rogue assassin but then she helps Carrie & Al to uncover a bigger threat and also save her son in the bargain. Carrie & Joanne are in a new building which is attacked by a group of men with guns and the people attending the opening are held hostage. It’s upto Carrie, with help from the rest of the team outside and the ever funny Joanne to add a little distraction to get the people out. And the final episode is at Carrie’s high school reunion where one of her classmates is murdered and she & Al uncovers the murderer – a former schoolmate. The show ends on this fun & exciting episode. I hope season 3 is as good.

Food Review Video #2

Ok, so for the second ‘food review’ video it’s my visit to SFC Plus on Marine Drive, Cochin (Kerala, India) to enjoy their Chicken sub for lunch. Large coke + the best fries you can find in the city IMHO. SFC (Southern Fried Chicken) Plus’s main menu is KFC style Southern Fried Chicken and they also make 2 subs, pizzas, salads with a fried rice in veg or chicken options.

It’s not a real review video so much as I couldn’t eat the large sub with one hand on my mobile camera but the sandwich is really good. The video is from quite a few weeks ago.
