A Charismatic Pirate In The 24th Century

I’m not sure what to think of Vash, a recurring guest character in Star Trek The Next Generation (2 episodes) & Star Trek Deep Space Nine (1 episode). Vash, played by Jennifer Hettrick, is a human who cheated, stole and sold items of archeological & historical importance for profit. A Human archaeologist and former member of the Federation Archaeology Council in the 24th century and considered by many to be a profiteer. Vash’s primary goal was not to gain knowledge about ancient cultures, but to sell their artifacts for a profit. To this end she frequently used methods that were considered unscrupulous by the scientific community, including visiting many archaeological sites that were barred to outsiders.

Her shady ethics, and consistent sale of priceless artifacts, twice got her dismissed from the Federation Archaeological Council. Her professional choices were also the reason she was not welcome on several worlds. She was banned from some places and there was even a Alive or Dead reward on her on one alien world! She doesn’t need money being from the 24th century earth yet risked even her life & limb in “acquiring” said merchandise which she’d then sell to make a buck. What did she gain from it? Was it the thrill of her adventures, bucking the trend and not following Federation rules & ethics. I think her character was created to showcase greed and humans pursuit of possessions & wealth, despite having almost everything you could ever need.

Yet she is a fascinating character and I guess that’s a lot to do with the actress herself, who plays the role with charisma & charm. She is an adventurer and thrill seeker, like a 24th century pirate and she even fascinates Q, so much that he offers to have her travel the universe with him because as he puts it, “But it’s not going to be the same without you. When I look at a gas nebula, all I see is a cloud of dust, but seeing the universe through your eyes I was able to experience… wonder. I’m going to miss that.” Q finds her nature more exciting than humans who try to better themselves with knowledge, science & exploration, mostly because he can manipulate her but not the average human.

I just find it fascinating that Vash, a very intelligent person, chooses to spend her life in the pursuit of profit when she has everything that a human could ever want while staying on earth or with the Federation. Maybe she didn’t want the stay within the rules. What fun is that, she might be thinking?

Arsenal 2 Norwich City 0

Norwich City’s relegation from the Premier League was confirmed as a stunning Aaron Ramsey strike spurred fourth-placed Arsenal to victory. The Canaries were all but down before kick-off, and Ramsey’s volley on the angle and Carl Jenkinson’s opportunistic strike sealed their fate. Earlier, Norwich keeper John Ruddy had to be alert to keep out Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud. Gunners keeper Lukasz Fabianski denied Jamar Loza and Robert Snodgrass. It was a sombre finish to a disastrous season for Norwich, who could only have survived if they had won and West Brom had lost to Stoke, coupled with a highly improbable 17-goal swing. There was good news for England fans the day before Roy Hodgson names his World Cup squad as Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere returned after a foot injury for the final 30 minutes, while knee injury victim Abou Diaby also came on for the Gunners in his first game in 14 months.

But it was Ramsey, also returning from injury, who shone for the visitors, rifling in a superb volley from Giroud’s delicate chip to the back post. It was the Welshman’s 17th goal of an injury-disrupted season, and fans will wonder if Arsenal’s title challenge, which looked promising until February, would have flourished had he not missed so much football. Arsenal went into the game with a Champions League spot already secured and with the prospect of a first trophy for nine years still to come in next week’s FA Cup final, and a strong Gunners side rarely had to rise above second gear at Carrow Road. After Ramsey’s opener, Jenkinson grabbed his first Arsenal goal, pouncing on Podolski’s deflected shot from Kieran Gibbs’s cross.

Now it’s onto the FA Cup final and hopefully our first trophy in a decade.

Devil’s Due

Oh no! Not another handheld or found footage horror movie! Devil’s Due is a 2014 American supernatural horror movie directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, and written by Lindsay Devlin. The film stars Allison Miller, Zach Gilford, and Sam Anderson. It’s another one of those “the anti-christ is born” stories. I more or less wanted to check out this film because of Allison Miller (haven’t seen her in anything other than Terra Nova) and plus a title like Devil’s Due is very tempting. But I didn’t know that it was found footage or that it was a woman giving birth to the antichrist. The movie starts with a verse from the Book of Revelations warning about many antichrists.

Anyways, young couple Samantha, an orphan who grew up in foster homes, & Zack McCall have just gotten married and go to Santa Domingo for their honeymoon. On their last day, they visit a fortune teller who read Sam’s palm and keeps repeating “they have been waiting for you”. This spooks Sam and she leaves with Zack following her. They find themselves lost on the streets and hail a taxi with a very pushy driver who insists on taking them to a bar. The couple agree for one more drink and go to the bar and get drunk and pass out. The camera, still rolling, captures them both being taken to an underground chamber in the nightclub where Sam is subject to some kind of ritual by an unseen force. The next morning, Zach and Sam wake in their hotel with no memory of the previous night.

They go back home and settle down in their house and 2 weeks later Sam finds out that she is pregnant, even though she has been on the pill. The Devil has strong sperm! Anyways, a visit to the doctor and an ultrasound scan shows that both mom & baby are healthy, even though the machine’s monitor flickers for a bit. Zach and Samantha are overjoyed and tell their family and friends the news. This is when things start to go wrong – Sam starts feeling weird, having intense nose bleeds, having craving for eating raw meat in supermarkets even though she is a veggie and intense rage and showing of great strength when either she or the baby is threatened. Like when a car driver backs off the parking lot without looking and hits her lightly, Sam goes bonkers and breaks all the car windows in a rage. Also she kills and eats goats and gets telekinetic abilities that kill 3 youngsters who see her in the woods. Zack starts to notice strange looking people staring at their house at all times of the day. Also their doctor vanishes and a new doctor takes over and while he tests her, Sam is very uncomfortable and tells Zack she is not sure she can do this. The cult, including the new doctor, places tiny hidden cameras in the McCall’s home to monitor her progress and make sure she doesn’t hurt the baby.

In her 8th month of pregnancy Sam & Zack attend a holy communion at their church and the same priest who conducted their wedding, stares at her in between and suffers a stroke, bleeding all over the floor. Zack sees the same cab driver when he reviews the footage and a strange symbol and consults the priest at the hospital, who explains the symbol is related to summoning the Antichrist. Zack sees the people who are watching the house at an old abandoned house down the street and one night leaving his sister to stay over, he goes to the house. In in he sees computers on which the camera footage of his house is shown and he also runs into the people in the middle of a ritual. Zack escapes from the house and goes back home to find the people surrounding the house. Breaking in he find his sister dead and Sam in the nursery with a strange carved symbol on the floor and a knife at her belly. Zach screams for her to stop, but she presses the knife to her stomach anyway and there is a violent blast of light. When he comes to, he finds Sam dead and the cab driver & the doctor come and take the baby away.

At the end of the film Zack is at the police station, handcuffed and being questioned for his wife & sister’s murders as the cops can’t find any evidence at the abandoned house. The ending shows another young couple, on their honeymoon in Paris, where the same cab driver offers a lift, telling them he will take them to a hip bar. Predictable, scary in places but nothing new to offer a horror fan. 6 outta 10! I’m done with found footage.

Daily Morning Ritual

Our days are organized around numerous small actions we repeat over and over. What’s your favorite daily ritual?

The wait for the morning ritual. I have no big rituals (unless you count scratching my gonads a ritualistic practice! Well I do it every day!) but here’s the one I most look forward to in the morning.

I wake up, rub the sleep from my eyes, scratch my balls, yawn, look for the bottle of water that’s next to my bed, take a drink from it, sit up and get outta bed! Then find my undershirt and put it on, take my lungi from the chair and wrap that around my waist and then stumble & stagger into the bathroom. Take the day’s first leak and then flush and then head for the wash basin to open the taps and wash my face. Then it’s brushing teeth time and once that is done I head back to my room for a towel and wipe my face and hands.

Go to the kitchen for the first coffee of the day. Bring the cup of coffee to my bedroom and set the cup on my desk. Switch the laptop on and while waiting for it to boot, I take that first sip of the hot nectar of the gods! By then the system is booted and ready for me to open Firefox and login to my internet account after which it’s straight to Facebook. After 30 minutes or so nature is bound to call! After that – anything goes but uptill this point, I follow a pattern and until that is done, I cannot proceed with the rest of the day.

If I Ruled The World/Universe

You’ve been given the superpower to change one law of nature. How do you use it?

I think that should be if I ruled the world and the universe. Hmmm let’s see what would be the one law of nature that I’d change.

“I don’t wanna understand who ordered, this disgusting arrangement with time and the end” – Our Lady Peace ‘s “Thief”. And that is the answer to this prompt. I’d stop this disgusting process of aging and dying.

Why must every living creature die? I’m talking here more about humans and our animal friends, maybe not such the yucky reptiles & insects. Why do we all  have to grown old, fall weak and die out? Why does life end so quickly for us? I wanna change that. Infact I day dream about an alien virus that affects all life of us earthlings that makes us not age and basically live forever as long as we don’t kill each other or commit suicide. End to aging and dying. All life stops aging right where we are at the moment and go on forever.

Ofcourse I’d want to bring back friends and family members who have passed away and let them be in the prime of their health. My ets who have passed on, especially. That would be fun. Ofcourse we’d need to be able to sustain the good health and feed everyone but if that happens, it would awesome. So make me lord of the universe and grant me the superpower and I’ll get it done.

Sundown In The Queen Of The Arabian Sea

Ah, sunset. You are more beautiful & expansive than my humble 5mp camera on my phone can ever capture. Mother nature, Earth, universe – I am but a tiny dust in the wind in the billions of years post the big bang and cannot even begin to describe the grand vastness & awesome of the universe. But one thing is for sure – I will never insult you by crediting all this wonderfulness to some non-existent, insolent deity or deities in the sky who is/are too incompetent & impotent to create anything at all!

The 7th Voyage Of Sinbad

A vlog by Zaranyzerak made me want to check out the 3 Columbia Pictures films featuring the adventures of Sinbad the sailor that Ray Harryhausen conceptualized and animated. Spanning 2 decades American visual effects creator, writer, and producer Harryhausen who created a form of stop-motion model animation known as “Dynamation”, helped make the 3 fantasy adventure movies based on the legend of Sinbad the Persian fictional hero. I watched all 3 of the films recently (I remember seeing atleast 2 of them long, long ago but it’s way too long for me to remember much of it).

The 7th Voyage Of Sinbad is not based solely on the story of the same name and came out in 1958. Starring Kerwin Matthews stars as the legendary Sinbad who while being lost at sea with his men, find an island where they can stock their dwindling supplies. Sinbad and his men also run into Sokurah the magician who is running away from an attacking cyclops as he has taken away a magical lamp from the hoards of treasure that the cyclops have socked from ships that have sunk in the area. Sokurah is able to summon the genie in the lamp (in the form of a young boy) to create an invisible barrier to help the sailor escape the rampaging cyclops but drops the lamp in the sea after the cyclops throws a boulder at their boat. They make their way to the ship and set sail to Bagdad despite Sokurah offering Sinbad and his men a chance to get at the treasure if they can return for the lamp, which the cyclops picks up and takes it back to it’s lair. Sinbad also has princess Parisa from the kingdom of Chandra with him and they are to be married; their union who cement the ties between Bagdad & Chandra. The caliph of Bagdad allows Sokurah to entertain at the function a day before the wedding but refuses to give the magician a ship & men to go back to the island as it is too dangerous.

At the end of his performance Sokurah claims of prophecies that the two kingdoms will have war and bloodshed which angers the caliph who banishes the magician from his land. However that night Sokurah secretly shrinks Parisa to the size of a hand and when she is discovered the  next morning, her father threatens war against Bagdad. Sinbad rushes to find Sokurah who claims he knows of a potion that can restore Parisa, but it requires a piece of the eggshell of a roc, a giant, two-headed bird that coincidentally nests on the peaks of Colossa. The Caliph has no choice but to provide a ship. Sinbad enlists his loyal men from the previous voyage, but they are not enough and Sinbad is forced to recruit inmates from the Caliph’s prison. On the journey the prisoners attack and take over the ship but they are driven mad by the sound of demons of the sea and Sinbad, the magician and his men are able to escape to the island where they are capture by the cyclops. A shrunken Parisa is able to help free the men from their cage by pushing the latch and Sinbad is able to blind the cyclops with a torch and leads it off a cliff to its death. Still needing Sokurah to guide him, Sinbad takes possession of the lamp. Parisa enters the lamp and finds the unhappy boy genie who longs to be free and she befriends him, promising to help him if he helps them. He shows her an inscription inside the lamp of how he can be freed and tells her the words to summon him in return for her promise to free him.

The men are attacked by the mother rock after they break an egg and Sinbad is knocked unconscious. Sokorah takes Parisa to a underground fortress, followed later by Sinbad with the help of the genie. Once found, the magician agrees to restore Parisa to her normal size in return for the lamp. However, Sinbad then refuses to give him the lamp until they get back to the ship, so Sokurah brings to life a skeleton swordsman to challenge him. Sinbad destroys the skeleton and he & the Princess flee across over a river of molten lava. Parisa throws the lamp into the lava to free the genie from his captivity. As the leave the cave another cyclops attacks them, causing Sinbad to free a dragon that was tied up and it kills the one eyed giant. Sokurah however commands the dragon to kill Sinbad and his men, who fire a giant crossbow that they had prepared and slay the dragon which falls and crushes the magician underneath it. Triumphant Sinbad returns to Bagdad with a restored Parisa and the genie, who has been made a cabin boy by Sinbad, and some of the treasure in their ship.

A fun movie with some awesome groundbreaking, for it’s time, special effects & creature effects. We’ve come a long way from 1958 but it’s never too long to appreciate the pioneers. 7 outta 10!

Food Review Video #6

For my 6th food review my cousin Sujith & I went to SFC Plus on Marine Drive to try out the Chicken Hawaiian Pizza. It has pineapple, fried chicken, SFC Plus style chicken, mushrooms, jalapenos and mozarella cheese in all it’s ooey gooey deliciousness. It was excellent and I now have a new favourite pizza at SFC Plus. I’d rate it a 9.5 outta 10!

Saved By The Horn!

Tell us about a time when you managed to extract yourself from a sticky situation at the very last minute.

Hmmm, I’d have to go back several years, 20 to be exact, to think of a situation like this. So I was 17 and enrolled at St. Paul’s college in Kalamassery for the two year pre-degree course. I lived to the east of the college which was about 20 minutes away on foot but the route that I had to take had this section, a rough neighbourhood that consisted of mostly dhobi washermen/women and those who iron your clothes from Tamil Nadu. This area was infamous for mugging especially during the late evenings when it gets dark and a lot of people used to warn me about going through that route either early morning or late in the evening. Even if I was on my bicycle I was told to avoid it and that if I was alone I had to take an autorikshaw to pass that way. Even the cops have warned me a couple of times. The other way was to take a longer, round about way by bus and I’d have to take two buses.

One morning I was to go the college a bit earlier than usual for the organization of a function that was taking place in the college campus. So I woke up early got ready and left for the college by 6:30 am but instead of taking the bus I walked the route to the campus. As I reached the dhobi area I remembered the warnings and picked up my pace. However it was something altogether different that got me frightened. I was walking on when I heard growling behind me and so I turned back to see what it was and my heart almost stopped! Following behind me were several stray dogs sniffing at the food in my bag. I had a lot of food for me and some friends that was part of a potluck lunch we had planned and I had some beef in my bag. I tried walking faster but the growling still continued and the strays were looking vicious. Luckily for me a lorry came the other way (some lorry trucks used to use that route as a short cut) and saw the strays and honked their horn continuously, scarring and chasing the stray dogs away. I waved to the driver and his mate and almost ran to the campus.

After that I never took that route again, unless I had friends with me.

Witness Protection For The Situation

When you do something scary or stressful — bungee jumping, public speaking, etc. — do you prefer to be surrounded by friends or by strangers? Why?

It kinda depend on the situation and the crowd. For public speaking I may not really want or need my friends near me as long as I am well prepared about the topic at hand and the speech is rehearsed and clear in my mind. Friends could be an added bonus for any speaker, you know a quick glance at smiling and encouraging faces can take the edge of your nerves. Also a well timed signal of looks to those friends in the audience can set off a round of applause that will reverberate around the crowd and get you lots of encouragement and enthusiasm. In some cases it might be helpful but it’s not needed all the time.

Say you are going bungee jumping and you’re new at this and are nervous yet eager to try it out – you can use those friends to offer your support and bravery. Seeing them go through the same fears and anxiety might help you along and give you that impetus to just go with it and complete it. Plus afterwards you can sit with them over a couple of pints and laugh and relive the moments. So depending on the situation take a friend or two.

The Way Way Back

The Way Way Back is a 2013 American comedy-drama film written and directed by Nat Faxon and Jim Rash in their directorial debut. The film stars Liam James, Steve Carell, Toni Collette, Allison Janney, AnnaSophia Robb, Sam Rockwell, and Maya Rudolph, with Rob Corddry, Amanda Peet, Faxon and Rash in supporting roles. The film focuses on the life of a 14 year old boy and the changes that he is going through with regards to family and himself.

Our 14 year old boy Duncan is a reluctant member of a family trip with his mother Pam and her boyfriend of the past year Trent and his teenage daughter Steph (who is older than Duncan, probably 16 or 17). After his parents divorced his life has turned 360 and he hasn’t seen his father much since then. Trent is trying to put himself as a dominant male in the relationship and is forcing Duncan to participate in things he has no interest in doing and ends up belittling and being rude to the boy. Once they reach the beach house in a sea side resort, Pam & Trent are most concerned with partying & drinking with Trent’s friends, a married couple named Kip & Joan. Their neighbour, the hard drinking Betty also forces herself into their events, with her daughter Susanna and Peter in tow. Steph barely tolerates Duncan and Susanna is new in his life so Duncan resorts to taking a bike he finds in the garage and exploring the town.

Duncan meets the staff of the Water Wizz, a local water theme park, at a pizza joint and befriends Owen who is playing Pac-Man. Owen takes the boy under his wing and shows him around the water park and soon hires him for doing odd jobs. The two bond as Duncan feels more at home with the fun loving, non-judgemental and caring staff, including Caitlyn, Lewis & Roddy. At a fourth of July cookout, Susanna invites Duncan to go with her and Peter to catch crabs and as she tells him about her father and her parents’ divorce she manages to get Duncan to open up. However Duncan late sees Trent making out with Joan at night. At another party Duncan gets angry with Pam, who suspects that Trent is cheating on her as he stays out late and is caught in a lie, and he calls out Pam on not confronting her boyfriend. Trent in turns tells Duncan that his father doesn’t want the boy. Susanna follows Duncan as he leaves in a huff to console him but as he leans in to get a kiss from her, she backs off making him more upset. He goes to the Water Wizz, followed by Peter, and joins in a going away party for Lewis. Staying all night, in the morning he finally tells Owen about Trent and the things he says & does and that he doesn’t want to go home but that he feels more happy at the Water Wizz. Owen shares the fact that he himself had an abusive father and that he doesn’t like rules & patterns.

As soon as Duncan reaches the beach house, Pam tells him that they are leaving with Trent & Steph. As Betty and her kids come to say goodbye, Susanna finally kisses Duncan, telling him she was just caught offguard the previous night. As they stop at a gas station near the water park, Duncan runs inside and tells Owen he wants to attempt a rarely done move of passing someone inside a water slide, which they do to the applause of the people at the park. After finally introducing Owen to his mother, Duncan says goodbye to everyone at the park. Trent, Steph, Pam, and Duncan regroup in the car, and head out of town. Pam climbs into backseat of the car and they share a smile as Trent’s protests are heard in the background.

Good movie, coming of age, longing for a sense of belonging and family and being the awkward one in a family. It’s more of a film festival type of film and may not appeal to the masses. I liked it a lot however and will give it an 8 outta 10!

The WWE’s Moving Tribute To SuperFan Connor

You usually hear a lot of negativity regarding the world of wrestling what with the drugs and early death. This is what the WWE did for a small boy battling cancer.

In 2012, then-7-year-old Connor Michalek made a YouTube video requesting to meet his favorite WWE wrestler Daniel Bryan. Michalek, who suffered from pediatric brain cancer, went backstage when Monday Night Raw came to Pittsburgh that December and made Bryan tap out. It wasn’t the last time Michalek would get to hang out with Bryan, though. The week before WrestleMania XXX this April, the WWE invited Connor to Monday Night Raw in Washington D.C. Before the show started, Connor got to walk down the ramp with Bryan as WWE superstars chanted his name. Inside the ring Connor hit Triple H with a punch and pinned him.

Connor made it to WrestleMania XXX and saw Bryan capture the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Just a few weeks later, he lost his battle with cancer. If you don’t have tears by the end of this video, I think you should check your pulse.

RIP Connor Michalek.

Obsolete But Not Forgotten

Of all the technologies that have gone extinct in your lifetime, which one do you miss the most?

Hmmm, I’ve never really thought about it much. I really do like the more recent type of technologies and think that they save more space, are smarter and more efficient that the things we have had before. Let’s look at a few things that I used to own earlier and do not use anymore.

Walkmans, cassette tapes, tape recorders, stereo systems, Atari video games, old tv sets, classic old style rotary telephones, VHS, VCRs, pagers. I’ve had all of these at one point or the other in my life. I have bought and used so many Walkmans (thank you Sony) in my life; I’ve even lost count. Bus rides, train rides, plane rides, long car rides – all with the enjoyment of a Walkman with freshly charged batteries and my favourite music on cassettes. We’ve used tape recorders to record music, sometimes even ourselves doing funny little skits. And man for a few years we had so much fun enjoying hours of games on our old Atari system.

If you show kids below the age of 20 years an old style rotary phone and tell them that you used to use this to call people or receive calls, they’d think that you were from the Jurassic age! But yes we had a few over the years. And old tv sets, ones without remotes and with remotes. And we watches our movies on VHS which we played on the VCRs. And yes for a couple of years I had a pager, one of the cute, sleek and smallest models from Motorola. This was ofcourse well before I got a cell phone and when cell phone rates were so high in India and you were charged for incoming as well as outgoing calls (1997-99). I do miss that pager!

Otherwise, I don’t care. We have much better technology that has replaced all of these things. But I do wish I could have a fancy and classy, elegant old style rotary phone plugged in. Mainly just for show and to freak out young people!

Crystal Head Vodka

I’m a vodka guy. Other than beer, the poison of my choice is definitely vodka. I like to drink my vodka with a generous splash of either Sprite or 7up and lots of ice. I like it cold. I love plain vodka and flavoured vodka. Hmmm, green apple vodka is so delicious. I love skullheads. Who does’t like a cool skullhead design, right? I’m always into skullhead tattoo designs. And who doesn’t love crystal? I admire nicely designed crystal pieces which I’d want to showcase in shelves in my house. And I like Dan Akyroyd a lot. The guy is funny and talented and he has been in several roles in the movies that I love over the years. Dan is an awesome guy. What happens when you combine all of this stuff together?

You get Crystal Head Vodka!

I recently became aware of it while watching Top Chef videos on Youtube and on one of the Top Chef Canada episodes, Akyroyd and his vodka were featured – him as a guest judge and the vodka to be one of the ingredients in the food. I checked and it is available in India at various prices ranging from Rs.10,000 to Rs.7000!

Arsenal 1 West Bromwich Albion 0

24 hours before this game, Arsenal were guaranteed 4th place in the Barclay’s Premier League and a place in the Champions League for next season as Everton lost 2-3 to Manchester City. With the pressure off, the Gunners took to the field and welcomed West Brom with a 1-0 victory with Olivier Giroud scoring the lone goal. After Everton’s defeat by Manchester City on Saturday made the Gunners’ top-four spot secure, the France striker grabbed the only goal of the game, rising in front of marker Craig Dawson to convert Santi Cazorla’s corner. Relegation threatened West Brom rarely threatened but were confirmed safe after Norwich drew at Chelsea.

At Emirates Stadium, the visitors played like a side who seemed certain of safety, barely making Arsenal’s defence sweat on a warm day in north London. Arsenal were slightly more spritely. They were in relaxed mood after Saturday’s result ensured manager Arsene Wenger has led his team to a top-four finish in every season since he joined in 1996. Giroud’s early opening goal provided one of the few rousing moments during a sedate match. The France international has a brilliant knack of losing his marker when the ball is played from the wings, and on this occasion he beat Dawson to score his 22nd of the season. Arsenal went close once more, after the break, when German Lukas Podolski mis-hit a half-volley from 10 yards that bounced off the post and into the arms of Foster.

The Gunners, who deserved their victory, finish their league campaign at Norwich before an FA Cup final against Hull, as they aim to end a run of nine years without a trophy. Arsenal have 76 points with a goal difference of 25.

Dead Baby Bat

Damn it! A baby bat flew into our apartment through the open balcony door and kept flying around in the living room. Mom called me as I was sitting in my room at the computer with the doors closed and as I came out I see this thing flying towards me and I duck. The bat kept flying in circles around the room seemingly in a panic to get outside but it couldn’t find it’s way out to the balcony and into the darkness of the night. Mom kept yelling and backed out slowly into the main bedroom while I took out the mosquito bat (a thicker badminton racquet or olden style tennis racquet that is used to kill mosquitoes with the wires that have electricity running through them when you press a button) and used it to try and maneuver the bat towards the balcony door.

I tried chasing it towards the door but the poor bugger went straight to ceiling fan, which was at high speed, and hit it once. It still kept flying in circles and I hoped it would go to the balcony but it kept coming for me and I ducked again while lashing out with the mosquito bat. The bat missed my mosquito bat and kept flying again until it finally flew straight into the fan, hit it and died. His wings were cut, sheared in half and he died almost instantly with a little bit of blood fallen on the ground. We swept the dead baby bat and threw it outside.

Bye baby Bruce. You didn’t live long in this world.
