2014 Sucked Donkey Balls
One year back, on this same date I wrote that 2013 was the worst year ever for me. I must change that to no fucking 2014 was the worst year for me personally! Fucking asshole this year was the shit sticking on the uncleanest asshole hair in the world!
Now that rage is out of the way, I am glad to see the end of 2014. It has been a tough and humbling year. It was the worst for me – financially, professionally, personally and every other way that you can think off. I hate 2014 with a vengeance. I cannot think of anything worse than going through that again. Basically being broke and suffering not of your own fault but for reasons that you cannot control and are beyond you. I am glad that is coming to an end.
So I hope 2015 is going to be a good year. Great? We will have to wait and see but I will settle for just a good and safe year. I will take it. Thank you and I am glad that I will be starting off the year with good news.
Sizzling Dreams Are Made Of These
I had this dream a couple of early mornings ago. I woke up at 5 am and went back to sleep and that’s when I had this dream:
In this dream I was working in a large office complex and was with some colleagues discussing details on a project. Later the team of people we were presenting it too (another department, separate company or clients – I have no idea). Everything went smoothly and there was a little celebration at the office with a late lunch. Some of us had plans to go out for the evening, take in a movie and a big dinner at an expensive restaurant. I started speaking to this woman I knew – she works for the other team but we were on very friendly terms and from the looks of it, knew each other quite well – who was a pretty woman with short blonde and black hair (roots). By 5pm however there was something on the news (unclear now) and a bunch of us were watching the television in one of the big conference rooms. After a while this woman, who was sitting next to me at the back end of the room away from everyone else and I started talking, whispering more like it, to each other
As the news went on, she slowly put her head on my shoulders to rest and sighed! Taking it as a sign of positivity, I put my arm around her and gave her bare arm and shoulder a squeeze. Soon the others started drifting from the office and left the building, leaving excuses for not joining the dinner. She and I were the only ones left but we were having too much fun talking to each other and engrossed in our conversation that we failed to see that we were finally the only ones in the room. It was 7:30pm by then so I asked someone at the front desk to get us a cab and she & I walked down to the entrance. Cursing the others for bailing on the dinner & movie idea since I wanted to spend more time with this woman, as I stood waiting for the taxi to arrive, I thought to myself “Here’s your chance. Ask her to dinner somewhere or invite her home and order take out. Go for it” and was thinking of what exactly to say when she leaned towards me and said “Would you like to have dinner at my place? We can have some wine and talk and there’s a great little place nearby that will deliver excellent Italian food in a few minutes.” How could I say no?
So we headed to her place in the taxi, sitting next to each other, her right hand holding mine and resting on my thigh. We sat in silence just looking at each other and when we reached her building I quietly followed her to the elevator and we rode it to her 11the floor apartment, which had a gorgeous view. She let me in and offered me wine and we talked for a bit before we ordered food. The food came but it sat untouched on the dining table because she came up to me and started kissing me on the lips. We were on the couch, she sitting on my lap and my arms around her waist as we lost ourselves in passion. After what was almost 15 minutes she stood up and took my hand and guided me to her bedroom where we undressed each other and ….. you know! Did a little dance, made a little love and got down! Spent physically we lay there in her bed between the sheets she lying with her head resting on my chest as we talked for a while. An hour later, starving for food, we laughed and joked as we went into her kitchen and she heated up the take out food as I took some plates and glasses and set the table.
What seemed like hours later we went back to her bed and as I lay in there waiting for her come to me after turning the lights off she said, as she sat naked next to me “You know you are the first man I’ve ever made love to. Till now it’s all been women”. I wonder why but this excited me a whole lot more and I “rose” to the occasion. What a night! And then I woke up! What an amazing dream!
Dumb And Dumber To
A full 20 years later we finally get the proper sequel to 1994’s hit comedic film Dumb And Dumber in Dumber And Dumber To. Co-written and directed by Bobby Farrelly and Peter Farrelly, the movie brings back the then smash duo of Jim Carrey & Jeff Daniels who reprise their roles as Lloyd Christmas & Harry Dunn. Joining them this time around are Kathleen Turner, Laurie Holden, Rachel Melvin, Rob Riggle & Steven Tom.
When we start the film we see that for the past 20 years Lloyd has been admitted in a mental institution after his apparent grief over his failed romance with Mary Swanson from the first film. Harry has been regularly visiting his friend every Wednesday and – changing his dirty diapers and removing the urine bags – and finds out that Lloyd has been faking it for 20 years as a gag. Lloyd decides to leave with Harry and the duo head to their apartment. When they get there, Harry tells Lloyd about his medical issue: one of his kidneys is bad and he needs a donor soon. Lloyd does not offer his but suggest that they go to meet Harry’s parents (down the road) and get one of them to donate but since they adopted Harry they are not compatible. On their way out, Harry’s dad gives him his mail that’s been piling up since he moved out. One of them is a postcard from his old girlfriend Fraida Felcher dating from 1991. It in she says that she is pregnant and needs Harry to call her.
The two friends go to meet Fraida at her place of work, a funeral parlor, and Fraida admits that she had a daughter named Fanny that she gave up for adoption. She wrote Fanny a letter, only for it to be sent back and noted to never contact her again. Fraida shows the two a picture of Fanny that she found online, Lloyd then instantly falls in love with Fanny after seeing the picture of her. Taking a hearse from Fraida, the two of them drive to Maryland where Fanny lives with her adopted family (after first going to Fraida’s home as they mistake the Return to address for Fanny’s) and find that the girl’s name was changed to Penny by her adoptive parents Dr. Bernard Pinchelow and his wife Adele. Penny, also not too bright, has already left for El Paso (Texas) for a KEN convention where she is to accept an award on her father’s behalf, as he is unwell, and also speak about her father’s work. She was supposed to give a package to the organizer but forgets that as well as her phone at home. The wife Adele, is secretly poisoning her husband with the help of her lover & family housekeeper Travis. Harry & Lloyd tell them why they are there at which point Bernard realizes Penny left the package, which he says is worth billions. Adele suggests that Harry and Lloyd deliver the package to Penny. So Adele and Travis can get the billions from the package, Travis accompanies the duo, but he becomes extremely annoyed with the duo’s antics.
Travis sets off firecrackers in the hearse which temporarily affect the duo’s hearing but as they step out a freight train to plows into Travis and the Hearse, which Harry and Lloyd do not see. Harry & Lloyd end up finding their old van but when it break down they get a zamboni and drive to El Paso. Captain Lippencott, Travis’s twin brother and special ops soldier, informs Adele that his brother is dead and offers to help kill Harry and Lloyd. At the KEN convention Harry is mistaken for the reclusive Dr. Pinchelow and invited to the auditorium but he argues with Lloyd when he finds out that Lloyd wants to get with Penny and the latter is escorted out. Lloyd then gets a call from Penny. They arrange a meeting at a fountain after he tells her that he’s there with her dad. The two then head to a restaurant, where Lloyd deduces, as he recalls one night he was with Fraida, that he is the biological father of Penny, not Harry. Adele arrives at the convention and exposes Harry as a fraud when she tells the heads of the convention that he is not her husband. Fraida also arrives and pulls the fire alarm and everybody exits. Harry runs into Fraida and Penny, only for the moment to be ruined by Lippencott pulling a gun.
They run into the bathroom to hide but are caught by Lippencott & Adele After Lloyd arrives, having undergone a kidney removal at an illegally run clinic, Adele and Lippencott attempt to shoot them, but three cops bust in with a healthy-looking Bernard, who knew that Adele was trying to poison him. The package he gave Penny were just cupcakes for one of the convention heads. As Adele and Lippencott are arrested, Adele then turns her gun on Penny and shoots, but Harry jumps in front of the bullet and is severely injured. Harry is rushed to the hospital, where he reveals that he was pranking Lloyd about needing a kidney. Good thing to as Lloyd was duped by the clinic and given a pork chop instead of his kidney in a medical freezer! Harry and Lloyd are told by Fraida that neither are Penny’s father and that her biological father is a deceased high school friend of theirs named Pete Stainer (or “Pee Stain”, as they called him). As the duo leave El Paso, they spot two beautiful women walking in their direction. They decide not to waste this opportunity, and they end up shoving both women into a bush as a joke. They run off and high-five each other. In the final scene they hurl their milkshakes behind them, as they are riding their zamboni, which hit the truck of their old nemesis Sea Bass, who angrily chases the two.
Funny, gross funny in places and they had me falling outta my bed as I was laughing so hard in a couple of scenes. I know the movie was panned by critics and given negative reviews but I liked it. Not as much as the first one but still it was thoroughly enjoyable. On a budget of $40 mil the movie has made a little over $130 million. I give it an 8 outta 10!
West Ham 1 Arsenal 2
Arsenal moved above West Ham in to the Premier League top five after inflicting a first home defeat on the Hammers since August. Former Gunner Alex Song had a 20-yard volley ruled out for offside for the hosts which angered Sam Allardyce. Santi Cazorla put the visitors ahead from the penalty spot, following a foul by Winston Reid, before Danny Welbeck put Arsenal further in front. Cheikhou Kouyate’s header gave the hosts hope but West Ham were unable to avoid a second successive defeat that saw them slip to 6th pace. It was Arsenal’s ninth win in a row in all competitions against West Ham as they moved level on points with fourth-placed Southampton and just three points behind Manchester United in third.
West Ham boss Sam Allardyce, who opted to rest key players Song and Diafra Sakho for the 2-0 defeat at Chelsea on Boxing Day, disagreed strongly with the decision to disallow Song’s goal, claiming Sakho was not in the eyeline of the goalkeeper when he was adjudged to be offside. Former Arsenal man Song, on loan from Barcelona, almost made an instant impact with a low volley into the bottom corner of the net from 20 yards early on. Sakho was penalised for standing in an offside position in front of goal, though, despite not touching the ball. Cazorla punished Reid’s high leg in the box to roll home the resulting penalty for the opener. The lead was doubled minutes later as Welbeck was on hand to slide the ball in to the net from close range after Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s low cross from the right. Stunned by the deficit, West Ham restored hope soon after the break with Kouyate bundling Sakho’s cross from the right in to the net via Mathieu Debuchy. But it was Arsenal who had the better chances, with Hammers keeper Adrian brilliantly denying Alexis Sanchez and Oxlade-Chamberlain, before the visitors survived a late aerial bombardment.
Arsenal should have scored a couple more goals had they been more clinical, which they have to to counteract the goals that we are bound to leak with out shaky looking defense. Wenger resorted to putting 6 defenders on, bringing on subs Gibbs & Chambers for Welbeck & Chambo respectively in order to protect that slender lead. When that whistle blew you could almost hear the deafening SIGH of relief. What matters is the 3 points which brings our total to 33 after half the games have been played.
Very First Blog Entry Revisited
Now that you’ve got some blogging experience under your belt, re-write your very first post.
I’m not gonna rewrite the first post I’ve written because I’d have to go all the way back to October 10th, 2002! Man it’s been 12 years since I started blogging. 8 of which has been on this website/blog. Man that is a long time to continue something. Although I only started blogging daily in late 2006.
At first when I started blogging I would only post one small post every week or 2 weeks. Usually an update of where I was, what I’d done or any movies I’d seen or music album I had bought. That was the extent of it. I had no idea what it meant to be committed to blog daily and multiple times in a day as I now do back then. I liked the idea of blogs after I first read a few and because I used to keep a diary when I was a teenager, blogging seemed to be a natural progression.
I’ve had two Blogspot blogs before I moved to this site back in January of 2007. This blog has been my outlet and my solace at times. I love writing down my thoughts and ideas, even though I’ve held back from penning down a whole lot of my thoughts, since I don’t want to share those ones. The rest is fine. So…oh well. What the heck, I shall copy & paste my very first blog entry (in a Blogspot account) which was all of one single line paragraph! Here it goes!
Captain’s Blog – 10/10/2002. Roshan has just created his blog. Stay tuned for more.

Ascension – Part 3
As part 3 starts the ship celebrates “Ostara”, a unique birth ritual where everyone learns if they are allowed to have a baby to keep the ship’s population at 600. Meanwhile, Christa follows a ghostly figure, who resembles Lorelei, laughing down the hall to the party. Viondra announces two couples’ names, one of which is Duke and Emily Vanderhouse. The “ghost” tells Christa to look away when a video plays showing Lorelei having sex with the captain. Later, Viondra and William argue over the video. Councilman Rose tells the captain that he needs to step down, insulting Viondra in the process, and they fight. Dr. Bryce asks Christa to have an MRI. In the compound, Samantha steals Enzmann’s henchman Carrillo’s keycard. She later visits Stokes, who is preparing to escape. Director Katherine Warren arrives, not happy with Samantha’s report. On the ship, Viondra has the girls to prepare the dorms for an inspection, and Jackie goes to the captain.
He asks her to deliver extra rations to a woman and an “unclaimed”, a child born out of wedlock. With Samantha as his hostage, Stokes leads her through the compound. They enter the room where the Ascension is held, and he has a breakdown upon seeing it. He wonders how it is possible that they landed; Samantha tells him that they never left. Onboard, Gault continues the murder investigation to learn that the video appears to have been uploaded by the captain. Duke leaves Emily when she confirms her affair with Gault. As Samantha tries to help Stokes escape, Warren takes over the Ascension project by having Enzmann escorted out and relieved of duty. Carrillo remains her second-in-command. Meanwhile, Stokes wants to see everything outside, but finds the memorial for fallen members of the Ascension. Samantha gets shot by a security guard. Back on the ship, the captain is brought up on charges for having an unclaimed, but he reveals that the child is that of another of the council members. “Lorelei” leads Christa to a fight between Gault and Duke. Christa electrocutes Duke with a surge of energy that radiates out from the ship and affects everyone.
Director Warren accuses Harris of creating the energy surge, but he counters by telling her that it is likely from Christa. She then gives him his job back. Back on the ship, people panic, the computers are all down, and the outside does not have eyes inside. Jackie tries to get Councilman Rose’s protection, but he turns her down as there is a price for failure. The air scrubbers are no longer working, causing carbon dioxide levels to rise to near fatal levels on the ship. Meanwhile, Stokes takes Samantha to a motel so she can heal. She later decides they need to leave, as she needs expose the Ascension project. Those in the compound cannot vent the ship, as it would cause too much confusion. Director Warren sends someone named Medici in to kidnap Christa for her safety. With the captain off the bridge, Councilman Rose tries to assume command, but Viondra has frozen the chain of command and he has no power.
Meanwhile in the scrubber room, Gault and the captain realize that they simply need to dump lithium hydroxide into the system, converting the carbon dioxide into oxygen and water. Samantha and Eva plot to leave town with Stokes. When he confronts them, they calm him but Samantha realizes that Eva must be working for someone else. Eva then shoots Samantha in the head, killing her. Onboard, Robert Bryce tries to protect Christa but is taken down by Medici. Elsewhere, the captain and Gault begin to fix the ventilation system, however, Gault gets a strange feeling about Christa, whom he runs off to protect. The fix works and water and oxygen rain throughout, as Gault and Medici fight. A scared Christa conjures another of her power surges, and Medici and Gault disappear. Stokes is loose, and Director Warren is furious. As she tries to reach Medici inside, Harris pushes her off the platform and kills her. Then, Harris claims that everyone on board is “going to space”, as Gault is shown alone on a distant planet.
I must admit that the show hasn’t been able to capture my imagination after the 1st part – with the Ascension being a social experiment and not a real ship in space, some of the intrigue was lost. However I still hoped that the goings on in the show would still be interesting enough. Sex is the actual power and both Viondra & the Captain are playing it well for their mutual benefit, with Rose finding it out a little late. Little Krista is a good character at times but a ghostly helping hand and her powers – Puhlease! I find it interesting that showing sex, sexual affairs, paid sex, cheating sex is one of the biggest aspects of most epic shows these days – hey I love seeing skin but in what was supposed to be an epic scifi show set mostly in space (it wasn’t) that looks like a sell out to me. Still the mini-series had enough in it to hold my interest though I found some of the characters/actors lacking – especially Gault, Emily Vanderhaus and the young lovers. I do hope that the show gets a proper series run, say 13-16 episodes a season.
Food Review # 28
I went to the Abad Food Court to try out the Chicken burger from MarryBrown (a Malaysian fast food chain that serves their own version of KFC styled Southern fried chicken, chicken & fish burgers, etc) Instead of the usual fries I opted for the juice fried chicken leg piece. In the video I mistakenly say that MarryBrown is a Singapore based fast food chain, as that was what I was told by someone.
Arsenal 2 Queens Park Rangers 1
Arsenal remain within touching distance of the Premier League’s top four after victory over QPR – but only after being reduced to 10 men and conceding a second-half penalty. With the win Arsenal moves above Spurs to sixth and within 2 points of 4th place. Arsene Wenger’s 400th in the Premier League saw Giroud sent off for headbutt on Onuoha in the 53rd minute. Alexis Sanchez missed a spot kick but later headed Arsenal into the lead. Tomas Rosicky doubled their advantage after Giroud was sent off. Then, in a nervy climax, Mathieu Debuchy felled Junior Hoilett and QPR’s Charlie Austin converted from the spot.
Harry Redknapp men’s somehow soaked up wave after wave of attacks until, eventually, they caved in seven minutes before the break. A lovely move, featuring Danny Welbeck, Santi Cazorla and Kieran Gibbs, was finished off by Sanchez to give his team a deserved lead. That made up for the Chilean’s miss from the penalty spot after he was challenged clumsily by Armand Traore, with the diving Robert Green saving Sanchez’s tame effort. Although Giroud gifted the QPR a lifeline, the visitors were unable to test the Arsenal back four before Rosicky scored. Sanchez was the creator, elegantly weaving his way towards the box before releasing the equally impressive Czech, who swept home on his first league start of the term. Until Debuchy was penalised for bringing down Hoilett – though replays showed the defender did make contact with the ball – QPR were unable to test Arsenal.
That set up a dramatic final 10 minutes, but QPR were unable to breach Arsenal’s defence for a second time. The Gunners have nine points fewer than at the same stage last season, when they were level with league leaders Liverpool. Even after victory, which was Wenger’s 400th in the league, Arsenal remain 15 points behind leaders Chelsea and two points adrift of fourth-place Southampton, with every team in the top four also enjoying wins.
Hercules (2014)
Hercules is a 2014 directed by Brett Ratner and starring Dwayne Johnson, Ian McShane, Reece Ritchie, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Joseph Fiennes, and John Hurt. Much like in the view of the recent spate of Greek legend movies with a lot of liberties taken. This is one of two Hercules themed movies that was released this year and the latest of Hercules themed movies that I can remember.
Hercules is a wizened warrior and leader of a band of mercenaries that consists of the spear-wielding prophet Amphiaraus of Argos, the knife-throwing thief Autolycus of Sparta, the feral warrior Tydeus of Thebes, the Amazon archer Atalanta of Scythia and his nephew storyteller Iolaus of Athens. Iolaus recounts the legend of Hercules who was born to a human woman after she was impregnated by the might god Zeus and who completed the 12 labours to appease Zeus’s wife the goddess Hera. However the story goes that he went insane and murdered his wife & 3 children during a visit to King Eurystheus, after being betrayed by Hera. He was banished by the king but continued to show displays of great strength and skill in combat. Hercules is frequently haunted by the memory of the deaths of his wife and daughters by his hand, as well as visions of Cerberus. After a mission, Hercules and his group are celebrating at a tavern when Ergenia, daughter of Lord Cotys Hercules to train the armies of Thrace to defend the kingdom from bloodthirsty warlord Rheseus. Hercules accepts after he is promised his weight in gold if successful.
After training the army, which is usually led by General Sitacles, Hercules and his men lead them into battle against local barbarians as a test of their strength. After the barbarians are defeated, Hercules and Sitacles confront Rheseus and his soldiers. Rheseus is defeated and taken back to Thrace as a prisoner, where he is tortured and humiliated. However back in Thrace, Rheseus informs Hercules that regarding actions of burning down villages, it was not him or his army, and tells Hercules that he has been fighting on the wrong side. In the palace during a celebratory feast Ergenia takes pity on Rheseus Hercules confronts her and finds out Rheseus was telling the truth in that he was merely retaliating against Lord Cotys’s aggressive attempts to expand his kingdom, and, although Ergenia doesn’t agree with his methods, she goes along with them for the sake of her son, Arius, Lord Cotys’s successor to the throne, who is being threatened by Cotys. Hercules confronts Cotys and has to be restrained by Autolycus. The group gets their gold and prepare to leave but Hercules wants to stay back and correct things.
All but Autolycus choose to follow him but they are overpowered and captured by Sitacles and his men. While chained, Hercules is confronted by King Eurystheus, who is in league with Lord Cotys, and reveals that he drugged Hercules the night his family died, viewing him as a threat to his power. Hercules’s family was in fact killed by 3 vicious wolves that Eurystheus sent, resulting in Hercules’s constant hallucinations of Cerberus. Lord Cotys orders Ergenia to also be executed for her betrayal and Hercules, encouraged by Amphiaraus to become the legend that people know him to be. Summoning inhuman strength, Hercules breaks free of his chains, saving Ergenia and slaying the 3 wolves with his bare hands. Hercules releases the prisoners, including Rheseus, and then confronts King Eurystheus, impaling him with his own dagger. He is attacked by Sitacles, who is then stabbed by Iolaus. Outside Arius is taken hostage, but then rescued by Autolycus, who has decided to return to help his friends.
In the ensuing battle, Tydeus is mortally wounded while protecting Arius, but fights on slaughtering numerous Thracian soldiers. Hercules again uses inhuman strength and pushes a massive statue of Hera from its foundations and uses it to crush Lord Cotys and many of his soldiers. After this show, the remaining soldiers bow down to Hercules, believing the legend of the demigod. Later Arius takes the throne, with Ergenia at his side, while Hercules and his men depart in search of other adventures.
And perhaps more movies to follow. Good enough film for an afternoon’s fun. It’s entertaining and the creature effects are done well as is the production. 7.5 outta 10!
Releasing The Horror In A Box
You wake up one morning to find a beautifully wrapped package next to your bed. Attached to it is a note: “Open me, if you dare.” What’s inside the mystery box? Do you open it?
“What’s this? A beautifully wrapped package next to my bed? But I didn’t leave it there so who could have done this? I this a present for me? I wonder what it could be – is it a phone or a book or some food or some drink? What could it be?”
This is what went through my mind as I saw the package lying next to my bed as I woke up this morning. I picked it up and placed it on my dining table. I got myself a cup of coffee and set it to one side. Eagerly I ripped the wrapping paper and found a wooden box. Oooh what is inside it? Paying no heed to the voice inside my head shouting “Pandora, Pandora” I opened it and saw that inside was……
……a single piece of paper on which was written “Thank you for letting me out. I’ve been stuck inside this magic box for a few thousand years. Be seeing you soon!” And now I’m scared!

The Returned (2013)
The Returned is a 2013 Spanish-Canadian thriller film directed by Manuel Carballo, written by Hatem Khraiche, and starring Emily Hampshire, Kris Holden-Ried, Shawn Doyle, and Claudia Bassols. It has a horror theme of zombies but the focus is less on that and more on the survivors of a disease that turns people into zombies and on the relationship of the two main leads and their friends.
In the alternate universe of this film, a plague that turns victims into zombies first showed up in the 1980s and causes the death of over 100 million people. Scientists do heavy research for a cure but are only able to come up with a serum that needs to be injected daily to ward off the effects. If the subject misses a single dose they quickly change into a feral state and attack people. The formula can only extracted from the dead zombies and hence by current times supplies have started running low. The infected humans have to endure discrimination, taunts and even violent threats from bigoted humans.
Kate, who is a physician in Toronto working with the Returned, has just finished counseling a young boy’s parents on the treatment for him. We then see her buying black market does of the cure, from a pharmacist at the same hospital, and stocking them for fear that they will run out soon. Kate’s own husband Alex, a music teacher, got infected 6 years ago when he attempted to assist a man whom he thought was having a seizure. Alex was treated in an army medical facility and then moved to a hospital, where he met Kate and they fell in love. At dinner that weekend Alex confesses to his best friend Jacob & Jacob’s wife Amber that he has been infected for 6 years and they support him. When protestors become violent and the government begins to set up quarantine camps, Jacob and his wife Amber invite Alex and Kate to stay with them outside the city. Kates hospital was attacked by a trio of masked men who killed the returned in their beds. Alex narrowly avoids both an attempted murder but is able to turn the gun towards the attacked and the gun goes off. He & Kate dump the body in the water. Early the next morning Kate goes back into the city to meet her source and buy more doses but finds her dead. On the woman’s body Kate finds one of Amber’s false nails and panics.
She calls Alex who searches the house and finds his supply gone and both Amber & Jacob are missing as well. Alex finds a single dose and a note from Jacob that apologizes for taking the rest, as Amber has become infected. Alex becomes desperate and tries calling Jacob who tearfully tries to justify his actions. Kate returns to the city and reveals her dilemma to the hospital chief, who gives her the hospital’s entire stash. However, the father of the infected boy Kate had treated, overhears her talking to Alex on the phone about the doses and attempts to steal the container, and, in the ensuing fight over it, the entire contents are destroyed. Kate returns to Alex at their apartment and finds him having chained himself in his studio. As he slowly experiences the changes due to not getting the dose he hands Kate the gun and asks her to shoot him. Kate has flashbacks to her childhood when she could not bring herself to kill her mother who had just been bitten & infected by her father but does shoot him offscreen. Later back in the city she goes to the hospital and in told by the chief that the that researchers have created a synthesized treatment! Unable to control her grief she breaks down. In the final scene, some months later, a pregnant Kate prepares to track & kill Jacob and Amber at a book tour.
Good movie with a sober story about the survivors of a plague rather than your typical infected zombie flick. The focus on an infected trying to stay that way and his spouse who wants to help him makes the film unique in it’s genre and hence should be treated more like a thriller than a horror movie. For a small budget ($5 mill) film, I was impressed so a 7.5 outta 10!
What I Would Expect From Medical Science In The Next Few Decades
Yesterday I went with my mom to the hospital as she had to show her regular doctor the results of a test she had done, on his recommendation, at another bigger hospital. Since the visit was routine and he already knew that everything was positive & normal, she just needed to go there for a few minutes and show him the result and come back. However due to the doctor being held up elsewhere we had a 2 hour wait before she could see him. While waiting I was observing other patients and standers-by at the waiting lounge of the OP section of that hospital.
I saw a couple of older people who were struggling to walk and get up from their seats even. One older gentleman, probably in his 70s, who seemed to have a back problem had come in all alone and just as he was leaving I could hear him on his phone telling someone that he was “done” and was on his way to meet them. A couple of ladies in their late 60s (like my mom) were helping each other get to a seat after speaking at the reception and looked like they could use some help. I got up to help them but they had already found a seat. I gave up my seat to another even more elderly woman as it would have bee easier for her to sit there rather than go all the way to the other side of the lounge where there were a few empty seats.
I hope someday that we develop medical science to such a degree, that even if we can’t stop aging or death, can atleast make us healthy enough to be fully independent to walk around and be active until the day we die. A lot of people stay relatively healthy even into their 80s but a lot don’t. I see a lot of people in their 60s and 70s struggling to cross the street, climb a stairway, get to places – I wish that could be wiped out. I have enough trust in the medical advances – see what it has done for us so far – that we will eventually get there. Not anytime now but perhaps in a few decades or so. That should be a huge focus for us as a race.
Giant Pizza Sized Burger?
If I am ever really (and I mean really) hungry to the point of starvation – you now know what to get me to eat! Seriously just look at that monster!
A Secret Santa Gift From Me To….
You get to choose one gift — no price restrictions — for any person you want. The caveat? You have to give it anonymously. What gift would you give, and to whom?
So just one gift – no matter the prize or the size or whatever it is – but only one and for only one person? And it has to be given to them anonymously? Hmmm that is toughie. Let me take some time to think about it.
Ok I am back. I would like to gift a nuclear bomb or hydrogen bomb or atom bomb (pick a huge bomb) to be gifted, anonymously, to the leader of Al-Qaeda or Taliban or Hamas or IS or Boko Haram. With a note that states it is meant to be shared with all the followers and no matter what, it should not be opened unless all of their followers are gathered together in one same place – cave or camel’s asshole whatever!
Boom! Like that!
