2 Packages From EBay

Just a little package opening blog and vlog for ya.

IMG-20150209-01434

I recently made two separate purchases on eBay, on two different days last week. Although I ordered them from two different sellers and 3 days apart, they both arrived together at my place of residence. That’s cool.

IMG-20150209-01435

The first one is a usual purchase for me. It’s a replacement wireless mouse for the one I already have. The roller thingy on top of the mouse isn’t working and it has had some falls that makes it a bit wonky. So it’s tough to work with but I was managing till about a week ago.

The second purchase – – is a nosehair trimmer. Yes, I finally have one of my own.

Nosehair is gross. Ok, hair anywhere else other than on your head and face is fucking gross. I can’t stand nose hair or ear hair but atleast I don’t have a problem with ear hair. That is nightmarish! Nose hair yes and I was making due with a small pair of scissors and stuff. This one is a good one I think. It did an ok job, though it still makes my eyes water when I tested it out.

All I Have To Say About That Is “Asphinctersayswhat”

Take a quote from your favorite movie — there’s the title of your post. Now, write!

Exactly! This is ofcourse a quote from Wayne Campbell (played by Mike Myers) from that excellent movie Wayne’s World! Party on Wayne, Party on Garth! And this is Wayne & Garth Algar’s reactionary question to douchebags who have just told them something that they don’t like or agree with. Or just when they don’t plain like someone who is a phony.

That is my reaction to assholes & douche-bags I met in real life. And the world is full of them. That’s a plain awful truth and the quicker that you understand that the quicker you will be ok with it. It’s a fact of life and nothing you can do will ever change that. The only thing you can do is to either cry / moan /bitch and complain about it or you can try and adjust to that fact and learn to not let them affect you too much. And perhaps joke about it and a good laugh with your friends about said douche-bags.

Life is to short to let them make it less enjoyable for you. Adjust, change and be free. And have fun!

Taken 3

The subject of many internet memes, the Taken series has made Liam Neeson a household action movie star name all over the globe. The 3rd & final installment is directed by Olivier Megaton and written by Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen and once again stars stars Neeson, Maggie Grace & Famke Janssen with Forest Whitaker, Sam Spurell & Dougray Scott joining the cast. Also returning are Leland Orser & Jon Gries.

Bryan Mills, has just had a brief visit at his daughter, Kim’s, house – giving her a large teddy bear as an early birthday gift. Kim, is distracted as she has just found out that she is pregnant but doesn’t let on to either Bryan or her boyfriend who comes in a couple of minutes later. Lenore, who is having problems with her husband Stuart St. John, reaches out to Bryan and tries to rekindle her relationship with her ex-husband. Though Bryan loves her, he refuses to act upon his feelings while she is still married. Later Stuart visits Bryan and warns him off from meeting his wife so regularly and Bryan agrees.

The next day while out buying bagels Bryan receives an urgent text from Lenore asking him to meet her back at his home and on reaching there he finds her dead body. The LAPD arrives on the scene and attempts to arrest Bryan on suspicion but he escapes from them and contacts his buddies Casey, Gilroy & Harris for help. Meanwhile inspector Franck Dotzler, is assigned to the case and becomes fascinated as he reads up on Bryan’s unique history. Bryan collects equipment & ammo from a hideout and retraces Lenore’s steps the previous day. He tracks her movements to a convenience store and recovers surveillance footage of Lenore being abducted by unidentified men at a gas station. LAPD detectives arrive and unknown to them, Bryan allows himself to be arrested, then commandeers the police car to access LAPD’s computer system from the vehicle’s laptop to analyze information. At a restroom in her college, Bryan meets up with Kim, who is being secretly followed by the cops via an electronic bug they placed on her clothing. As Bryan tells her that he is investigating her mother’s death, she informs him that Stuart has hired bodyguards and that she is pregnant.

Bryan again evades the cops at the college but is followed by some Russian mobsters who attack his car and push it over a cliff. Bryan escapes and then kills the Russians which leads him to Stuart – they were hired by him! He abducts and interrogates Stuart, who reveals that his debt to an ex-KGB Spetsnaz and Afghan War veteran operative named Oleg Malankov was the probable motive for Lenore’s murder and that Stuart was forced to send the men in Bryan’s direction as Malankov feared that Bryan would retaliate. With the help of his ex-CIA colleagues Bryan collects Kim from Stuart’s house, and using Stuart as decoy he enters Malankov’s heavily guarded private penthouse and kills off his men. A mortally wounded Malankov, reveals that Stuart had played both men against each other – the businessman had hoped that Bryan & Malankov would kill each other leaving his debt free and with Lenore dead he could also collect a $12 million life insurance police on her. When Bryan arrives back down, he finds that Stuart has abducted Kim and on his way to a private airfield. With the cops hot on his tail, Bryan is able to disable Stuart’s private jet before it takes off by ramming into one of it’s wheels and overpowers Stuart, telling him that he will spend time in prison for his involvement in Lenore’s murder.

As the LAPD cops led by Dotzler arrives on the scene, Bryan warns Stuart that he will later answer for her death. Dotzler and the LAPD arrive and arrest Stuart and Bryan but due to his CIA connections, Mills is later let free with his murder charge cleared. In the aftermath of Stuart’s arrest, Kim, who is pregnant, informs Bryan that she wants to name her baby Lenore, after her mother. A somewhat fitting end to the movie franchise, though this one pales in comparison to the first one and even the sequel was much better. The film was received poorly by the critics, despite that the film was a box office success, grossing over $267 million. I give it a 7 outta 10!

Rearranging 3 Things

If you could rearrange 3 things about your life, what would they be?

If it’s just rearranging:

  1. Different work office location; as in same company but closer to my place of residence and a different time shift for work.
  2. A different apartment and one of my own. Like why can’t I have a dead relative who was very rich and who left me like Rs. 1,000,000 so I can buy a really nice & big apartment and decorate it the way I want? Because that only happens in the movies, I guess. Or atleast not to people like me.
  3. I would like to have a more active social life. So having kept contact with old friends and getting to spend time with them once or twice a month would be great. With my 2 best friends no longer living in the country, I don’t go out as much with friends. So enhancing my social life with more get togethers and parties would  be good.

Arsenal 1 Tottenham Hotspurs 2

Arsenal put waste to all the good things they did in recent weeks to seemingly turn around their bad start to the season as they sat back and let Tottenham have a go at them. Harry Kane continued his superb recent form with two goals as Tottenham came from behind to beat Arsenal in an entertaining north London derby. Kane pounced to finish at the back post following Mousa Dembele’s flick from a corner early in the second half. He then rose to head home in the 86th minute to take Spurs a point above the Gunners in the Premier League table. Mesut Ozil had given Arsenal the lead with a close-range finish but they sat back after and paid the price.

Spurs, who ended Saturday fifth in the table, have now won their last seven home matches and taken 22 points from a possible 27. They also have a very real chance of ending a run of 18 seasons in which they have finished below Arsenal in the Premier League table. Twice in the second half Kane breached an Arsenal backline that had previously looked as stubborn and solid as it had during last month’s impressive 2-0 win at champions Manchester City. During a first half in which Spurs were the more positive side, but ended it behind when Olivier Giroud’s fluffed finish from Danny Welbeck’s cross fell to Ozil to finish from inside the box. At the break, Arsenal were eyeing another efficient counter-attacking victory in the mould of their Etihad triumph – a win that would have been their 13th in 16 games.

Wenger’s side had chances in the second half – most notably a long-range Welbeck shot that was well saved by Hugo Lloris – but in general they were not at their best as they became the latest side to suffer at the hands of Spurs and their in-form striker. Arsenal drop down to 6th place with 42 points after 24 games. Next up is Leicester.

Do Not Go!

Is there a place in the world you never want to visit? Where, and why not?

Saudi Arabia – the way that is is now. What a hell hole! Being labeled a terrorist in this shitty country just for not believing in imaginary creatures is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard in my life. Ironic from a nation that funds a bunch of terrorists! In fact most Arab nations in the middle east are places I would want to avoid. With the exception of Kuwait, though it too has become more intolerant and crazy in recent years, since it was my birth place.

Other than that, several places in Africa that are war torn and corrupt and filled with diseases. A lot of other countries in Africa are interesting and worth visiting but it’s always low on my list of places I wish to visit. Where I want to go – Canada, the UK, Holland, most of the US, Germany, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Austria, Sweden, Norway, Thailand, Finland, UAE, Bahrain, Belgium, Italy, Japan, Greece, Russia, Hong Kong, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Barbados, Turks & Caicos, and quite a few more. Even Antarctica & the North Pole are high on my lists of places I would like to visit. Less people, less bullshit – might be good to see

The earth is a great & beautiful planet and she has beauty everywhere. It’s this stupid race of human beings that fucks things up and make certain places bad for the rest of us to visit.

The Final 6 Months

If I had six months to live, I’d…

  • quit my job and sell a bunch of my stuff.
  • Try and see Canada, visit the land for a while
  • say a personal goodbye to all my friends, taking the time to sit with each and everyone over lunch or dinner and talk to them personally about what their friendship has meant to me
  • Do the same for some members of my family
  • Have a large and loud party with a live rock band and invite all my friends
  • Shave my head everyday
  • Have sex with some porn stars and enjoy threesomes
  • Have long discussions about the origins of the universe and what our place in it is all about
  • Sneak my way into the Playboy mansion and chuck Hugh out and take residence in with all the babes
  • During my last week I will seclude myself for most of it and be on my own
  • On the final day I will go out with a smile on my face

Breaking The Law

Think about the last time you broke a rule (a big one, not just ripping the tags off your pillows). Were you burned, or did things turn out for the best?

I dunno, I have pretty much tried my best to not break the rules or laws. And it’s more to do with not wanting to and fearing to face the music and the drawn out hypocritical inquiries that will usually follow, and conducted by real cheats and liars. Like in one of my previous jobs – I was known for doing my best not to forge data and follow whatever protocol for the processes that I was responsible for and for my integrity (apparently a part of one of my appraisals) but yet whenever there was a problem I was usually reprimanded by someone or people who had no qualms about manipulating data and who cheat and lie all the time.

So I can’t remember breaking big rules. Yes I have bended them and broke small rules here and there (who doesn’t) but nothing that can cause major harm or even any kind of harm at all. Dammit, I will have to think a bit more on this one and come back to you as my brain isn’t working anywhere near usual capacity at this moment.

Hitch In Starting My Collection

By now I had thought I would have started out my collection of the official Star Trek ship collection (manufactured by Eaglemoss. The best option I have found for purchasing these models are via seller on eBay since Eaglemoss does not directly ship to India. I found a couple of sellers who are selling these ship models for good prices (i.e unlike Indian sellers who will charge you a huge amount, these guys are selling it for the same amount in Indian rupees as it is in dollars) but their only method of payment is through Paypal.

Problem is my bank, HDFC does not have a tie up with PayPal and hence, since my PayPal account – which is “0” balance as of now since I only used it to receive payments – was empty I needed to transfer some money to my Paypal account. However, it will not allow me to register my debitcard against the account in PayPal due to not having a tie up. I think a creditcard would be allowed but I have to wait to get one first. I might try something else in the meantime but the best option is to get the credit card and make payments via that through PayPal.

I have never owned a credit card before though I know it is very necessary. I have been declined a card a couple of times because a) the company I work for has been blacklisted due to it being a BPO and hence heavy attrition or b) like in 2012 when I applied for one, after a long wait I was told that since I company (being a new organization) didn’t provide payslips and PF the application was rejected. And c) at one time I rejected getting a card for personal reasons.

Once that is sorted out, I will start my collection. I want them all and I need them.

Meet This Alien Race Who Suffer From Narcolepsy.

Here is my idea for an alien race:

Ok, in my science fiction universe (a quick recap; you’ll have to go through my old posts to read a bit more about this futuristic universe) by the year 2500, humanity will have left earth due to problems with the earth’s atmosphere and resources and settle on 3 planets in a nearby solar system and 500 years after that almost the entire human population (and assorted pets) would then migrate en-mass to first terraform and then live on 10 large planets and 7 moons in another solar system which is towards the center of the Milky Way galaxy. And so thousands yes say around 500 years from now we met these two races who are very similar in they way they look but vastly different in advancement.

One planet’s race is quite advanced scientifically & technologically and has ventured out in space while the other similar looking race of humanoids, called the Narven, is somewhere to the equivalent of early 19th century earth’s advancement. This is when we encounter them, secretly so they have no clue that an alien race is watching them. The Narven race of humanoids live on a planet which is almost 75-80% water and as only two large continents on which the humanoids and other animals live. Their sun has a unique effect on the life on this planet – when the sun sets (as in the sun in not visible and it’s night time) all the animals including the Narven fall into a deep sleep! It’s not voluntary and it’s a biological reaction much like narcolepsy. This planet has 30 hours in a day and for 10 of them it is considered as night due to the sun setting and hence those 10 hours is a total sleep mode for all the creatures in that area. Irrespective of wherever they may be, whatever position they are in, whatever they might be doing at that point in time – when it gets dark and the sun has set, all of them fall asleep. Instantly!

So that might be hard for life on this planet, you might think. Imagine not being in control of yourself and falling asleep right on the spot as soon as it is dark and not being able to wake up no matter what you do until 10 hours later. Hence the whole society of the people of this planet is built around this condition. They have ensured that there are a lot of inns, bed and rooms in every part of the cities, towns and villages so that if someone is stuck far away from home and it is almost nighttime, they get easy access for a bed & room for the night for a nominal fee that is very reasonable. In many cases there are free beds available as well to help out people who are traveling. This is to ensure that they don’t fall on the road on their way back home when it gets dark.

And that’s one of my alien races in my fictional universe.

Morton’s Fork

If you had to choose between being able to write a blog (but not read others’) and being able to read others’ blogs (but not write your own), which would you pick? Why?

Oh that is a tough one. I love blogging way too much and I also love to be able to read a lot of other people’s blogs and see what they are upto. How can I chose only one?

In the end I guess it will be the first option of only being able to write a blog but not read others’. Because this blog and writing is a great outlet for me. It is a source of not just letting my creative juices flow but it’s also a place where I can vent, rant & rave. I can share my experiences, both good, bad and even some weird ones. Where I relive my greatest regrets and loses and my hopes, as minor as they are, for the future and what’s in store for me. Without I don’t think I would have survived the last few years, especially the last 3-4.

So I’d rather keep on writing my blog and never be able to read anyone else’ blog. Because I need this!

Teacher’s Pet

Tell us about a teacher who had a real impact on your life, either for the better or the worse. How is your life different today because of him or her?

I’m not going to select a single teacher as that would be hard to do. I think I, and my fellow schoolmates, were indeed very lucky to have the teachers that we did. They were mostly women in my high school (and that would be grades 6 to 10 as until the late 90s it was common to do your 11th & 12th in a college as a pre-degree course rather than in a school) and they were mostly all wonderful human beings, ladies and teachers. If I could meet any of them now, I would have tears in my eyes, a genuine smile on my face and from the heart I would thank them for the years I was in their classes.

They were genuinely interested in their students and they shared a wonderful relationship with all of us. I cannot think of one bad thing that any of us have ever had to say about the teachers we had. Well there was this one older teacher who seemed to have a stick up her butt and she was rough and even rude with us but once we left the school none of us who used to be in her “bad books” held a grudge. Yes she was rude and she seemed to take offense at every silly little things (like guys having slight long hair, which was not even shoulder length) but we forgave her since she was our grouchy little old lady and we only had her class for one year. Other teachers I’ve had great relationships with particularly 3 others.

I remember when we were in the 10th grade a new teacher arrived at the school and she was only 23 and we were her first Math class and she initially struggled to keep us quiet and during the first few months she would get upset and cry and go back to the teachers common room to collect herself. And ofcourse we would feel bad and ofcourse I was always one of the representatives to go and say “We will behave and we won’t do it again so please come back to the class” and the other teachers would make a funny show of ‘punishing’ me and encourage this new teacher to come back to class. Later we did make her cry again, and this time we cried too, when we left the school at the end of the 10th grade. She was so heartbroken that we were leaving.

That’s the teachers that we had.

New Furniture Possibilities

I’ve been meaning to get new furniture for my room for a while now and always the money problem cropped up. I’ve had opportunities to get a new chair but I kept pushing it away. I currently have a metal chair in my room at my computer desk and blimey is it hard on the ass after a few hours.

10500

Speaking of desks, I looked at this one and even thought it is pricey, I do like it and also the one I have (which I bought back in 2006) is small and fits perfectly in my room but the problem is that because of the partial rack inside it I can’t tuck my feet under the desk and hence it does not feel all that comfortable for the knees and the legs. It’s about 3k more than what I want to spend so I’ll keep looking but I like this one.

5850

I looked at a few chairs and unfortunately the swivel ones all were either crap or expensive or crappy and expensive. I looked a couple of them without the rollers and swivel ones and this one above and the one below looked good.

8500

I like the second one a lot more and it’s comfortable as heck. But I;ll keep looking and maybe I’ll find one less pricier than the ones that I found.

Sunday Just Flew By

Having had an extra day off last week, or two since Monday was a public holiday and Tuesday was a strike, we were working on Saturday to compensate. However waking up late on Sunday and then spending 5 hours of it outside means little time relaxing at home. I was out in the shopping mall and some other clothing stores yesterday to look for a white shirt!

For some odd reason my new employers demand that all male staff wear black pants and white formal shirts on each Monday. So they want us to look like waiters in a high end hotel! I think there’s something in the official books about ties as well but that is not followed. So anyway that is why I was out looking for a white shirt.

But for a guy my size choices are usually few and I couldn’t find one. My usual store has a good selection but no white full sleeve shirts. I went to 6 other places but no go. Some don’t even have anything in my size! Discrimination agaisnt fat people! One store was promising but no white shirts. I did find some casual shirts that I might go in later for but not at the moment. So, post lunch, I came back home empty handed.
And then 3 hours later I was watching the Arsenal vs Villa match and once that was over it was 9pm. Sunday just flew by.

Arsenal 5 Aston Villa 0

Arsenal moved above Tottenham to fifth in the Premier League courtesy of an emphatic victory over struggling Aston Villa. The Gunners dominated and took the lead when Olivier Giroud collected Mesut Ozil’s neat flick and finished well. Santi Cazorla’s shot struck the post before well-taken finishes from Ozil and Theo Walcott made it 3-0. Giroud hit the bar with a header before Cazorla fired home a penalty and Hector Bellerin made it 5-0 from 30 yards out. It is the first time Arsenal have hit five goals in a match this season and completes a hat-trick of successive league victories for Arsene Wenger’s side.

The Gunners have now claimed 19 points out of a possible 24, have not conceded in their last three league games and, with significant players returning from injury, are in a strong position to make a push for a 19th successive top-four finish. Even without injured leading scorer Alexis Sanchez, the home side had too much quality for Villa. Ozil, starting his first league game since October following a knee injury, was lively, producing a deft flick to set up Giroud for the first goal eight minutes into the first half. He then collected a pass from the French striker and finished low into the corner of the net in the early stages of the second half. Walcott also continued his rehabilitation in impressive fashion, adding to his goal in the FA Cup win at Brighton last week with a curling finish from inside the box.

And Cazorla capped off another fine display by firing a penalty through the grasp of Villa goalkeeper Brad Guzan, who had fouled substitute Chuba Akpom. Bellerin has been quietly establishing himself as an effective full-back in recent weeks and his low, driven goal from more than 30 yards out in stoppage time was arguably the pick of the bunch. With this win Arsenal move back to 5th place with 42 points after 23 games played. Up next is bitter North London rivals Tottenham Hotspurs.
