Shopping On A Saturday

I have wanted to go to buy some shirts and decided that this 3 day weekend I should go in to Men’s Studio and see what shirts they have in my size. But first I wanted to have lunch since all I had in the morning was a half bowl of cornflakes. So I was thinking of which place I would choose to go and the craving for a real beef burger hit me hard so I picked The Burger Junction.

IMG_20190420_130437

I was there by 12:30 pm and ordered a nice juicy burger with a fried egg and I added bacon as an optional topping. I picked a peanut butter & mocha smoothie and for an appetizer I had these wonderful fried calamari rings with jalapenos and a tartar sauce on the side. They were great. And the burger was awesome. I stayed there for a while and then went to Men’s Studio.

I tried out several shirts before picking these four that you see above in the pic. Its’ a shame that for big fat guys like me they seem to have a dearth of darker coloured shirts. It’s always white, or white with stripes or lighter shades of blue or ash/gray. Anyways, I do like these ones that I selected today. One, the white on the extreme left is a casual one and the others are more formal or semi-formal shirts. After that I went to Milanos for a quick gelato and came back home.

What Are Your TV Habits?

What Are Your TV Habits?

I do not watch tv in the traditional sense anyway. No channels or cable tv. And that has been the case since 2010. Cable tv in general has been a big letdown for a long time. Plus with the way it is now, you really have to hunt for your favourite shows and which channels they are on now. I also didn’t watch anything on a tv for a long time and only bought my own tv back in October end of last year. I used to watch everything on my laptop.

So, now I have HotStar an app from Star Tv which lets you stream sports, movies and tv shows. No ads in between the show. I have Amazon Prime, for the past two years. I have also taken Netflix on occasion plus a couple of services that I get free for a while as part of the offer / deal when I bought my tv. Which I only watch intermittently. For most of the rest of my movies and tv shows I am dependent on torrents and my dvds. The newest realeses are through torrent unless I can find it on a streaming service but usually I do not get it. Then it’s dvd.

On a day that I am off from work I usually end up watching 1-3 movies unless there are good football matches live on tv for which I use HotStar. And I try to catch up on my tv shows as much as I can.

Napoli 0 Arsenal 1

Arsenal keeper Petr Cech says his side made a “very difficult” trip to Napoli “look easy” to seal a 3-0 aggregate win and reach the Europa League last four. Alexandre Lacazette’s first-half free-kick into the top corner earned victory on the night after the hosts had had the better of the early chances. “We controlled the game really well and defended really well too,” said Cech. The Gunners will host Valencia in the first leg of their semi-final on Thursday, 2 May (20:00 BST kick-off). Cech, who is retiring as a player this summer, saved well from Jose Callejon, while Arkadiusz Milik had a goal ruled out for offside – but otherwise the Serie A side struggled to make an impression.

“Napoli are a fantastic team who always score a lot of goals, especially here at home, so to keep two clean sheets is obviously something [positive],” added the 36-year-old Czech. “It was a very difficult game but we made it look easier because we played really well.” It ensured a comfortable night’s work for the Gunners as Unai Emery marked his 50th game as their manager. Arsenal, who arrived at the Stadio San Paolo with a 2-0 lead from the first leg at Emirates Stadium, could have doubled their margin of victory on the night but home goalkeeper Alex Meret superbly saved from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after the break.

The only negative aspect of the evening for Arsenal was Aaron Ramsey hobbling off with a suspected hamstring injury. The Wales midfielder was withdrawn in the first half and will be a doubt for the club’s remaining fixtures before his summer move to Juventus. When it comes to the Europa League knockout stages, Emery has an unequalled managerial record – 26 wins. And his know-how from winning the tournament three seasons in a row from 2013-14 while manager of La Liga side Sevilla came to the fore in the second leg. While the 2-0 advantage from the first leg gave Arsenal room for manoeuvre, there were few thoughts of simply playing to contain their opponents.

Deploying a three-man defence allowed them to initially take the game to their hosts as Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Sead Kolasinac pressed forward and Lucas Torreira and Ramsey controlled proceedings in midfield. Napoli did respond but Lacazette’s goal signalled the end of the home pressure and settled any lingering Arsenal nerves.

Surprise! How to Bring Joy to Your Friends, Family and Colleagues

We all love a good surprise. Whether it is a surprise party of all our friends or an unexpected perk at work, there is something just wonderful about the whole process. But what is even better, is that you can use the power of surprise to bring joy to those around you every day.

The best surprises are not the most lavish or complicated. In fact, it is the small acts of kindness that we appreciate most because they usually show an honest interest that can’t be found elsewhere.

Here are a few ideas you might like to try.

Surprises at Work

For most people, work is a bit of a grind. You go in, you do your thing and then you go home. It’s the same most days. A surprise is just what you need to break the monotony and it doesn’t even have to be expensive to succeed. As you can see on the http://www.proweatherstore.com/, introducing a little surprise every now and then can feel empowering for employees and motivate them to do even better.

So what sort of surprises work here? Well, if you’re the business owner, you have a lot of scope from ordering in a stack of pizzas to announcing an early home time. As an employee, you should probably check your boundaries first but it might be fun to organize an office playlist for the day or take in some snacks to share.

Surprises for Family

Kids absolutely love surprises and there are so many things you could do that they would just love. Fun breakfasts always go down well and even the simplest soft cheese-topped bagel can be improved with a bit of food coloring and sprinkles! Starting the morning well is a nice way to set the tone for the whole week and makes a big difference.

For a bigger surprise, you could turn the lounge into a fort to jazz up your family movie night or even take everyone on a day out together. To be fair, ordering in a stack of pizzas works pretty well at home too!

Whatever you do to surprise your family, just make sure that the experience will suit everyone and encourage you all to bond. After all, enjoying each other’s company is what family is all about.

Surprises for Friends

Keeping up with friends between work and family commitments can be tough but a little surprise once in a while can help things along. Again, the surprise doesn’t have to be big – especially if you live quite far away from each other. A postcard is a lovely way to check in with an old friend.

Organizing a spontaneous night out is a fun way to catch up but don’t just do what you usually do. Spice things up by trying a new place or stay in and try something different like cooking together. Once again, ordering a stack of pizzas works wonders every time but go wild – make sushi, buy a chocolate fountain. Have fun!

Can Religion Help You to Become a Better Person?

You will be aware of how many people in our world turn to their religion when they are in need. Going through health struggles or facing tough decisions at work can affect all of us, but can faith help you through these moments in life? Even if you don’t follow a religion right now, you might want to consider opening your mind to a new way of thinking. Becoming a better person because of your religion is not an uncommon phenomenon in the modern day. People underestimate the power of having a heavenly figure to look up to. Consider some of the advantages of having faith in your life before you shun religion from your thoughts.

Joining a Community

There is nothing better than feeling truly welcomed into a local community. One of the best and most loyal groups you could join is The Universal Church. When you first step into the UCKG HelpCentre, you will notice that this charity is dedicated to only one thing; helping people to change their lives. From the encouraging messages in the multiple meetings every day of the week, to the accessible advice that is available free of charge, and even to the smiles that you receive from everyone you meet, you will never leave empty-handed. The UCKG HelpCentre is open seven days a week with four meetings available throughout the day during the week, so that you have the freedom to attend at a time that is convenient for you. Whatever your problems may be, you will feel welcomed with open arms into this community.

Being Open Minded

Following a religion will help you to become more open minded about everything in the world. It is very easy to live with tunnel vision without noticing how your actions affect others. When you choose to incorporate faith into your life you can be sure that your mindset will alter to a more open way of thinking.

Steering You From Making Bad Decisions

People often turn to religion when they are at a crossroads in life. If you are looking to make a big change in your life, then religion might be one way to go. Getting guidance from your spiritual leader or religious community can give you that boost of support you need to make life altering decisions. Of course you can always turn to your friends and family for advice, but religious advice is often non judgemental and fair.

Whether you plan on becoming a religious person or not, you might be able to find a glimmer of positivity in faith. Even if you have been relatively close minded in the past, now is your chance to defy the norms and take a stand for yourself. If you are feeling lost in life or you don’t know where your path is taking you, religion will be able to lead you in the right direction. Consider it today and you might just become a better person because of it.

Breaking Goals Into Smaller Steps

We all have goals in life. Some of us want to buy our first house, some of us want to purchase a luxury car, some of us have goals that are related to our careers, and there are those who have goals related to their health, for example, wanting to lose weight. It does not matter what your goal is, achieving objectives is never easy. Motivation is one thing and people struggle with. Yes, there is no denying that you want to fit into your wedding dress and lead a healthier lifestyle, but staying committed on this journey, especially when it can take a while to get to the end result, it can be difficult.

One of the best things that you can do in order to achieve any sort of goal is to break into smaller steps. In this blog post, we will take a look at some of the most common goals that people have and provide you with some examples of how you can break these goals up into smaller steps. This should give you inspiration and help you when it comes to breaking up your own goal so that you can be best placed to achieve it.

Let’s deal with one of the most common objectives that a lot of people have today and this is losing weight. There are many different reasons why you may want to lose weight. There may be an outfit that you want to fit into or you simply may want to be healthier. If you want to lose two stone, for example, this can seem like a mammoth task and so it is not hard to see why your commitment would dwindle. Instead, you should break this down into smaller amounts of weight over short periods of time. Every time you achieve your small goals you will be motivated and this will help you to achieve your overall goal of losing two stone. Alternatively, you can set yourself health challenges every couple of weeks, for example, one of these challenges could be to drink eight glasses of water every day. Head to https://www.helpguide.org/articles/diets/how-to-lose-weight-and-keep-it-off.htm/ for some tips if this is indeed your goal.

A lot of people also have goals relating to their profession. For example, you may want to achieve your dream career. However, opening a business or achieving your dream career can be extremely overwhelming because it is such a big goal. Instead you need to map out what is going to take to help you get there. For example, you may want to start with a blog so that you can establish yourself in the industry. A good example of this is http://www.lcmpa.org/. You can see an informative blog on literary, which contains the writer’s opinion. You could do this as the first step on the ladder for your career and then once you have established is you can continue setting other moguls until you get to where you want to be.

Hopefully, this has helped you to see how you can achieve your goals and stay motivated. No matter what your objective is, when is a big one it can seem overwhelming and almost impossible to achieve. However by regular goals in smaller amounts and achieving these you end up picking off objectives from the list and this keeps you motivated.

Notre-Dame Cathedral In Flames

A major fire has engulfed the medieval cathedral of Notre-Dame in Paris, one of France’s most famous landmarks. The 850-year-old Gothic building’s spire and roof have collapsed but the main structure, including the two bell towers, has been saved, officials say. Firefighters are still working to contain the blaze as teams try to salvage the artwork stored inside. President Emmanuel Macron called it a “terrible tragedy”. The cause of the fire is not yet clear.

Officials say it could be linked to the renovation work that began after cracks appeared in the stone, sparking fears the structure could become unstable. Paris prosecutor’s office said it had opened an inquiry into “accidental destruction by fire”. A firefighter was seriously injured while tackling the blaze. Visibly emotional, Mr Macron said the “worst had been avoided” and vowed to launch an international fundraising scheme to rebuild the cathedral. The fire began at around 18:30 (16:30 GMT) and quickly reached the roof of the cathedral, destroying its stained-glass windows and the wooden interior before toppling the spire.

Some 500 firefighters worked to prevent one of the bell towers from collapsing. More than four hours later, fire chief Jean-Claude Gallet said the main structure had been “saved and preserved” from total destruction. Sections of the cathedral were under scaffolding as part of the extensive renovations and 16 copper statues had been removed last week. Deputy Paris Mayor Emmanuel Gregoire said the building had suffered “colossal damages”, and teams were working to save the cathedral’s remaining artwork.

Watford 0 Arsenal 1

A Ben Foster howler and a needless Troy Deeney red card helped Arsenal climb back into the Premier League top four with victory at Watford. Goalkeeper Foster gifted the Gunners an opening goal after 10 minutes when he took too long on the ball after collecting a back pass, allowing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to charge down his clearance and deflect the ball in. Just a minute later, Watford captain Deeney was sent off for throwing his forearm into the face of Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira in a late challenge. Despite playing with 10 men for 80 minutes, Watford offered the far greater threat, hitting the bar through Adam Masina’s powerful drive from distance in the second half, and forcing Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno into a number of excellent saves.

The German denied Craig Cathcart well with his feet shortly after Deeney’s red card – and later in the first half dived at full stretch to tip away Etienne Capoue’s goalbound free-kick. Ainsley Maitland-Niles also produced a crucial block with 10 minutes remaining when he slid in to block Andre Gray’s shot after the Watford striker had rounded Leno. The visitors’ only real chance came midway through the second half but Foster brilliantly spread himself to block Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s volley from close range. The Gunners were well below their best but the rare away win could prove crucial in the race to qualify for next season’s Champions League. They climb two places to fourth in the table, two points clear of Manchester United and ahead of Chelsea on goal difference.

Watford they were left ruing two foolish incidents within 95 seconds of each other. There seemed little danger when Foster collected a back pass just outside his six-yard box but he dawdled on the ball allowing the pacey Aubameyang enough time to close him down. Deeney’s foul was not vicious or particularly dangerous, but foolish and unnecessary. He chased down Torreira deep in the Arsenal half and after the Uruguayan had passed the ball threw his forearm into his opponent’s face.

Pizza, Cranberry Juice, Ice Water & GOT

Final day of the first 3 day weekend of April. I love it when we have these kinda weeks. Anyways, I go back to work on Tuesday at 7:30 pm and then I work for 3 days and get the next Friday to Sunday off. I do not know what shift I will be working the next week but I hope it’s 6:30 or 7:30. It’s so hot outside. Anyways, I had planned to go out today and do some shopping but I woke up with a slightly runny nose and combined with not having had a good sleep at night and the heat + humidity, it made me very tired and cranky. I kept putting it off for an hour but by 12 I knew I was staying in.

IMG_20190415_141330

I decided to order in lunch as my parents were going out for lunch with my sister, nephews and niece. I waited till almost 1:45 pm by which time I was starving since I had only had a little bowl of cornflakes and a coffee. I needed food. So I ordered a pizza from Chai Kofi via Uber Eats and it only took 25 minutes to get here. It was a grilled chicken pizza with peppers and some odd tasting sauce. It’s not bad just a little weird.

IMG_20190413_230050_653

Why the cold? That’s because of the heat I have been drinking a lot of water with ice and ofcourse had a couple of vodka+crankberry juice with ice and then just cranberry juice with ice. But I think the late night drinking of ice water is what has given me this cold. It’s not too bad though I feel asleep after watching the season premier of Game Of Thrones this afternoon.

9 Ways to Make Your Yard More Awesome

If you’re going to go through the process of becoming a homeowner, then you may as well ensure that it’s as fun and awesome as possible. Your house is more than just a place to lay your head at night; it can function to make your life even more entertaining. Nice! One of the best areas of the home to do this is the yard. It has so much potential, yet most people don’t make the most of it. Below, we take a look at a few ideas that’ll ensure your yard is a place you’ll want to hang out in all summer long.

Clean it Up

Before you’re able to get to work on making your yard more enjoyable, you’ll need to first make sure it looks presentable. So get tidying! If you’ve been generally neglecting your yard in recent times, then it’s likely filled with junk, old debris, and other unsightly aspects. You’ll also need to get it to a base level of presentability. That could mean cutting the grass, or even feeding the grass some fertilizer if it’s not looking as healthy as it could do.

Paving and Decking

To up the comfort levels of your yard, look at having paving or decking installed. This will provide the hangout area for your outdoor space, and also make it more likely that you’ll spend more time in your yard, too. Decking in particular can provide an attractive addition to any outdoor space. If you’ve been looking for a project that’ll increase the appearance of your property’s exterior, then that could be it. Get in installed now, and you’ll be able to enjoy the decking all summer long.

Outdoor Furniture

You’re not going to just stand in your yard; you’ll want to get comfortable, feel relaxed, and spend the day soaking up the rays with your friends and loved ones. For that, you’ll need furniture. So look at adding some high-quality furniture that fits in with the overall look of your decking or patio. It’s a good idea to get a range of furniture types, too. Traditional outdoor tables and chairs will be a good start, as it’ll allow you to sink into all the joys of breakfast and dinners outside. From there, you’ll want to look at furniture that’ll make you more horizontal. There’s nothing like spending a warm summer’s day lounging around in your own yard.

Decorations

People often don’t think to put decorations in the outdoor part of their property, but they should — they can add a lot. By this, we don’t mean placing items around the grass and plants (though these can sometimes look good); we mean more like putting small decorations around your decking, especially towards the bridge between the interior and exterior of your home. It helps connect your indoor and outdoor spaces. There’s no need to go overboard or over think things — just small decorations, things you’ve picked up on your travels, and so on will look good.

For the Kids

If you’ve got children, then you’ll need to think about their needs when it comes to designing your yard, too. This will benefit you too — they’re going to be home all throughout the summer, and you’ll find it much easier to keep them entertained if there’s fun to be had in the yard. So what does this look like? It all depends on their age, but could include a swingset (this can also be a fun woodworking project if you have the right tools), slides, or just a designated area where they can play without being told off for destroying the grass.

Added Fun

It doesn’t take much to enjoy your yard. If the sun’s shining and you’ve got a comfortable chair to unwind in, then you’ll have a good time. But that doesn’t mean you should always settle for just doing the bare minimum. When it comes to your yard, the sky’s the limit! There are two main additions that’ll really bring your yard to life, especially during the summer. The first is a swimming pool. Visit https://cypresscustompools.com, and take a look at having one installed on your property. There’s much to love about having your own swimming spot, especially on a hot day! The second is an outdoor cinema. These are actually easier to have on your property than you might imagine. Once you’ve got one set up, you’ll be able to enjoy all the pleasure of watching a movie as you lie on the grass, with your loved ones all around, and with the stars shining overhead. Lovely.

Summer Nights

Not that you need to do anything quite as grand as setting up an outdoor cinema in order to enjoy a summer night. The classic versions of fun are just as good! And by classic version of fun, we mean a BBQ. There’s nothing better than setting up your BBQ, throwing down some lovely recipes, and enjoying a beer together as it cooks. To make it even more enjoyable, make sure you have some sort of sound system, so that you can create the right ambiance. You could host a BBQ every week, and it wouldn’t get old!

Deep Relaxation

Those summer nights will be fun. But the days? That’s all about relaxing. You can ensure you can enjoy many hours of deep comfort by adding a hammock to your property. These are affordable, easy to set up, and oh so comfortable — indeed, it’s a wonder why more people don’t have them.

Make it Beautiful

Finally, make sure you’re taking some time to make the yard look beautiful. Trim the hedge, cut the grass, and get some plants in the ground. It’ll feel like your own little oasis.

Conclusion

So there we have it. Don’t settle for a substandard yard area, when there’s so much potential. Get to work now, and you’ll be able to enjoy your outdoor space all summer long. No-one ever regrets taking the time bringing it up to speed, and especially so when the sun is shining down.

Extinction (2018)

Extinction is a 2018 American science fiction thriller film directed by Ben Young and written by Spenser Cohen and Brad Kane. The film is about a father who has a recurring dream/vision about the loss of his family while witnessing a force bent on destruction. The film stars Lizzy Caplan, Michael Peña, Mike Colter, Lilly Aspell, Emma Booth, Israel Broussard, and Lex Shrapnel. It was released on Netflix on July 27, 2018.

Peter, an engineer working in a large factory, is suffering from nightmares and visions of an alien invasion in which he sees a lot of people being gunned down on the streets as several small spaceships descend upon the city. His work life and family life is being affected so on the suggestion of his wife, Alice, he visits a hospital for psychiatric help. However while waiting a fellow visitor tells him of very similar visions, which makes Peter leave before he can see a doctor. Later after a dinner party at their swanky apartment, Peter sees the same ships descending and then the attack begins.

Alien soldiers, from the ships, in black rubber suits with green glowing patches and blackened out full face helmets start attacking the people on the street killing several. The soldiers start storming the buildings in search of people. Peter & Alice  manage to barricade their apartment after telling their two young daughters to stay in the room. A soldier barges in and is about to shoot Peter when their youngest daughter distracts the soldier enough for Peter & Alice to get the upper hand. The family of four escape down the stairs and head to the underground tunnel and decide to go to Peter’s factory which is where he seems himself in the dreams. Alice though is injured by a blast and the solder catches up to them. Peter fights him off but to his shock, the soldier removes his helmet and appears human. Peter forces the soldier to carry Alice to the factory. There, his boss, David, explains that the invasion has been expected for many years.

A medic examines Alice but informs Peter that he cannot save her. As David’s men drag the invading soldier off to execute him, he yells to Peter that he can save Alice. Peter agrees to stay with the soldier to save Alice; David will evacuate their children to a subway station where a transport train awaits to take them all to an offsite base. The soldier surprises Peter by revealing that Alice is a synthetic (AI). To save Alice, she needs an alternate source of power: Peter himself. At the soldier’s guidance, Peter cuts open his own chest with a pocket knife, confirming that he is also a synthetic. The soldier connects a cable between the two androids and Peter passes out, experiencing in detail what he had thought were visions of the future but are actually memories of a past war. Fearing that android workers (synthetics) might rise up against humans, the military attack unarmed synthetics. The synthetics fight back and eventually drive all humans off the planet.

To deal with the guilt of what they have done and prevent themselves from living in fear of a reprisal from humans, the synthetics have wiped their memories and lived as humans, unaware of their nature or history. Peter wakes up and the soldier, Miles, explains that humans have been living on Mars for 50 years. He had expected the synths to be monsters, not families with children. Peter and Alice part amicably with Miles to find their daughters as humans breach the roof of the factory. As they all depart on the train, David explains that he and a handful of other synthetics kept their memories to stay prepared for the inevitable return of the humans. Peter suggests that some day there could be peace between humans and synthetics.

The storyline reminded me a lot of Skyline and the reboot tv series Battlestar Galactica. It is at best a B movie and not that entertaining or memorable. At best it can rival the best of SyFy films and it has similar production values. A 6.5 outta 10!

3 Day Offs….Twice!!

That’s right! You read the title correctly. As this coming Monday is Vishu (the Malayalam new year) and the next Friday is Good Friday and therefore, we have two three day weekends this month. And I have started the first one.

And if you look at it, next week is only a 3 day work week. Wow! Wish all weeks could be like this. A bit of relaxation from all the shit in the work. How am I planning on spending it? Mostly like the guy in the pic here. I plan to put my feet up, watch a few movies from my bed and munch on some of my favourite food and drink. Today I woke up at 11:30 am and it has been a hot and humid day. Lunch was simple and I watched 3 episodes of tv shows that I missed during the week. I then had a shower and now I have drunk my coffee and had some biscuits.

Tonight I plan to get some KFC or ChicKing pieces, pour myself some vodka & cranberry juice and relax. A movie or two before sleep.

Talking About The Generation I Wish I Lived In

What generation do you wish you grew up in?

I wish I could have been born and raised in the Star Trek generation. Specifically the era from The Next Generation to the post Nemesis era. Infact let’s go even further and let’s just say that humanity & our allies have progressed even further.

Where humanity is not restricted to earth though it is almost like a paradise but you still have several beautiful planets where you can reside for a few years and then stay elsewhere and get to enjoy all these place. And where you can easily move from one place to another as easily as you travel from one city to another another but instead you travel in the luxurious comfort of a spaceship that is like a home or house or even like a nice hotel room. And you don’t have to worry about packing stuff or leaving pets behind.

No religion, no bullshit rules holding us back, no racism or bigotry and humans acting as one. Exploring the universe and seeing just what’s out there.
