The Atticus Institute

The Atticus Institute is a 2015 American independent pseudo-documentary horror film written and directed by Chris Sparling about a paranormal research institute, which becomes home to the only U.S. government confirmed case of possession. The story of the film is presented in documentary format, with footage of the events punctuated by interviews with people related to them. In the early 1970s, Dr. Henry West (William Mapother) founded the Atticus Institute in rural Pennsylvania, hoping to find evidence that proves supernatural abilities such as ESP are real. Despite the best work of West and his aides, however, every subject that comes to the institute seeming to display such abilities are ultimately proven to be frauds. The team is demoralized in their work by the time Judith Winstead (Rya Kihlstedt) is brought to the institute by her sister Margaret, who is troubled by her disturbing behavior.

Judith immediately proves to be a different case than the previous subjects, passing all the tests with incredible proficiency and leaving no doubt that her abilities are genuine. Her behavior remains erratic, however, and many of West’s staff become uncomfortable with her, even while their boss’s fascination with her increases. With the usual tests proving to be no challenge for Judith’s incredible power, the team gradually introduces new tests that show her to possess even greater abilities than first imagined. Judith’s behavior grows more unstable as her abilities evolve, disturbing West’s staff. Bizarre events begin to happen to the aides and their families outside of the institute, which they suspect Judith is somehow influencing, and many of them resign from their positions to escape from her.

As the situation escalates, the team seeks help from the United States military; under the influence of military advisors, they conduct new tests that lead to Judith manifesting new abilities such as telekinesis and pyrokinesis. One day, Judith experiences a violent reaction to a spectral photography experiment, and when the images are checked, a cloud-like entity is observed temporarily leaving Judith’s body during her convulsions. This leads the team to realize that Judith’s powers are the result of demonic possession. With this discovery, the military seizes full control of the institute under a pretext of national security, deciding that Judith’s abilities can be utilized as a weapon against the Soviet Union in the Cold War, and they begin conducting increasingly inhumane experiments on Judith against West’s objections. Using methods such as electroshock therapy, the military try to tame the demon and force it to cooperate in exercises such as identifying the location of enemy bases, ignoring the effects these tests have on Judith.

As these experiments ultimately prove fruitless, the military decides to try removing the demon from Judith by having a priest perform an exorcism while a soldier is connected to Judith via machinery. The process shows promise at first, but Judith suddenly lashes out and gravely injures the priest, disconnecting the electrodes attached to her before passing out. As the staff try to reattach the electrodes, Judith experiences a violent seizure while the demon attacks West through the body of the soldier connected to her. An unseen force blasts through the facility, killing all present. As the cameras come back online, Judith is now free of the demon’s control and restored to her true self, but still tied to a chair in an observation cell. She panics when she sees the carnage around her. The demon enters the room in West’s body, having fully consumed his soul, and stands before Judith’s cell as she pleads for help. West kills Judith by telekinetically bursting her heart, then calmly exits the room and disappears.

The film concludes with a note revealing that Judith’s body was buried in an undisclosed location following an autopsy, and her case remains the only instance of possession officially recognized by the United States government. Dr. Henry West, after disappearing on October 23, 1976, was declared legally dead in 1982 and his whereabouts have been unknown for over forty years.

It started out kinda interesting and I was a bit excited seeing the cast with John Rubinstein, Harry Groener  & William Mapother in it but as the movie progresses I got bored until the last 20 minutes or so. I even fell asleep. I give the movie a 6.5 outta 10!

Hiring The Right People: Do You Know What You’re Doing?

Owning a business is a big deal, but hiring people to help you to keep that business afloat is an even bigger deal. You want people to help you on your way to success, and that means getting it right when it comes to hiring people. You don’t want to hire the wrong people and put any piece of your business into the hands of those who cannot help you. Doing this will only cause unnecessary disruption to your processes, and this could set you back.

Whether you are hiring an IT consulting firm to act as an advisor, or you’re bringing in the big guns and hiring in a manager to help you to run the place, you need to get this right. Hiring the right people takes work, and you need to make sure that you know what you’re doing. So, let’s talk about how to ensure that you are hiring the right people from day one.

Go For People Who Know Better Than You

It can be a frustrating time to try and fill a role that you are desperate to fill, but it’s important to aim high. You want to hire people who have skills that you don’t have; they’ll be able to teach you a few things. This is meant in the best possible way: you should hire those on your level, not just subordinates. You need your company to progress, and that means hiring equals.

  • Pay People More

If you cannot afford to pay people what their job is truly worth, then you shouldn’t be hiring them in the first place. This is the long and short of it. You need to show people that you recognize their value, as these are the people that will help you to grow. So, pay people more. Pay them so they are loyal and pay them because you respect their craft.

  • Go For Variety

It’s important for you to establish a culture in your business, and this culture is one that celebrates diversity. You want to be able to have a mixed bag of people with varied abilities, so that you know that the tasks will be done. You need people who will complement each other’s skill levels and bounce off of one another. It’s worth it!

  • Hire On Talent, Not Personality

Someone insanely likeable can come into your office for an interview, and it can be so tempted to hire them because you like them. But wait: what does their resume say? Hiring on personality is a waste of your time and money. You need people who can do the job, not people who know how to joke around.

  • Get Prepared

You need to have a list; like Father Christmas. You want a list of good traits and bad that you want to attract and avoid. This will help you to score off those who aren’t worth your time as well as those who are. Be prepared for interviews so that you’re not caught short!

Hiring the right people is vital for your success: don’t mess this up!

Everton 0 Arsenal 0

Everton and Arsenal played out a dire goalless draw at Goodison Park as respective new bosses Carlo Ancelotti and Mikel Arteta watched from the stands. Three-time Champions League winner Ancelotti was confirmed as successor to sacked Marco Silva on a contract until 2024 shortly before kick-off on Saturday, and the Italian was present in the directors’ box. Arteta, who was appointed the Gunners on Friday, was sitting nearby – but there was little to excite either man. Arsenal, under interim manager Freddie Ljungberg for the last time, came closest to scoring as Gabriel Martinelli shot wide in the first half, before Everton keeper Jordan Pickford saved superbly from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after the break.

The hosts, led by caretaker boss Duncan Ferguson for the fourth and final time, rarely troubled Arsenal, although the Scot once again showed he was not afraid to take bold decisions by substituting a substitute. This time it was striker Cenk Tosun, who had come on early for the injured Alex Iwobi, and he was clearly unhappy at being replaced by Moise Kean. As with Ancelotti, new Arsenal boss Arteta faces a massive job to revive a giant club, and nothing he saw here will have come as a surprise. Indeed, he may be happy that the Gunners came away with a point having had a ringside seat to witness just how average this side are when his former club Manchester City romped to a 3-0 win at Emirates Stadium on 15 December.

Arsenal actually had the better opportunities but there was a lack of cohesion and confidence about this performance, and their fragile defence escaped without being seriously tested by a tired-looking Everton. Defender David Luiz was too impetuous and dangerman Aubameyang was a relatively subdued presence before being substituted late on. Arteta watched impassively and the serious work begins on Sunday when he gets his new charges on the training ground.

Escape The Room

What can I say? It was a great experience. Escape The Room has three escapes rooms – a prison/jail cell, an ancient Egypt/archeological setting and a Sherlock Holmes themed who dunno it theme. I reached there only by 7:30 pm as there was a huge traffic block in Kaloor and Palrivattom. We separated into teams and I was in the prison cell challenge.

IMG-20191220-WA0022

We were the only ones who completed our challenge in 1 hour while the others ran out of time. It was a lot of fun. Once we were done, we took some pics and then headed to Zataar restaurant nearby for a team dinner.

IMG-20191220-WA0038

The food was excellent as always. We had alfam chicken and chicken mandhi and some beef platter. FOr the three vegetarians – one permanent and the other two temporary veggies – there was panner two types and veg fried rice. One person had a veg grill.

IMG20191220205215

We ended up with some sweet lemonade and then left. Some of them had to go back to the office but since I had an earlier shift I hailed an Uber and came home. I rested for a while before watching a movie and then fell asleep.

Arteta Is New Arsenal Head Coach

Arsenal have appointed Mikel Arteta as their new head coach on a three-and-a-half-year deal. Arteta leaves his role as Manchester City assistant manager and replaces Freddie Ljungberg, who took over as interim head coach following Unai Emery’s sacking at the end of November. “This is a huge honour,” said Arteta, whose coaching team has yet to be announced. “Arsenal is one of the biggest clubs in the world. We need to be competing for the top trophies in the game and that’s been made very clear to me in my discussions with (club owner) Stan and (director) Josh Kroenke, and the senior people from the club.

Ljungberg oversaw two draws, two defeats and one victory during his time in temporary charge, and departs his role with Arsenal 10th in the Premier League table. Arteta returns to the club for whom he played 150 games between 2011 and 2016, winning two FA Cups and two Community Shields in the process. City and Pep Guardiola were intent on Arteta remaining at the Etihad Stadium, but the offer from the Gunners proved too enticing for their former midfielder to turn down. The domestic treble winners were angered by Arsenal’s approach for the Spaniard after pictures emerged of Gunners chief executive Vinai Venkatesham and lawyer Huss Fahmy leaving his Manchester home in the early hours of Monday morning.

The Gunners lie 10th in the Premier League table, trailing the top four places by seven points with just 17 games gone. First up for Arteta is a trip to his other former Premier League side Everton, who have also recently sacked manager Marco Silva. Duncan Ferguson is in temporary charge for the game against the Gunners, with Carlo Ancelotti looking likely to take over on a permanent basis.

Arsenal Transfer Rumours 20-Dec-2019

Mikel Arteta is to be the next head coach of Arsenal. His official unveiling is only hours away. It has been a hectic week for the Gunners that began with a meeting at the Spaniard’s house in the early hours of Monday morning following a 3-0 defeat to Manchester City last weekend. Everton are up next for the north Londoners, with Freddie Ljungberg preparing to lead the team out for one last game as interim head coach before Arteta takes the reins. The Spaniard will be in the stands for the match against the Toffees, along with Carlo Ancelotti – the Italian is set to be installed as manager at Gooidson Park with Duncan Ferguson in charge against Arsenal.

Every transfer window brings with it new rumours of an exit for Mesut Ozil but after an apparent breakdown in relations between the player and the club over his criticism of China the intrigue around Fenerbahce has increased. The Turkish Super Lig side have long been linked with the 31-year-old and according to Fotomac a loan deal could be on the cards in January. One player who is expected to play a key role for the new Arsenal head coach is midfielder Lucas Torreira. The Uruguayan won over fans in his first season at the Emirates Stadium by adding some much needed tenacity in midfield to chase down opponents and protect the back line.

Phil Babb highlighted the importance of his role for the Gunners if Arteta is to try and bring in what he learned at City at London Colney, with Fernandinho a key cog in Guardiola’s machine. With the Brazilian trusted to sit back and prevent the opposition from blowing the Premier League champions away on the counter-attack, he frees up the likes of David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne to roam forward. It is this role, as the safety net behind the more advanced midfielders and in front of the defence, that Torreira has been tipped to fill.

In a poll conducted by football.london, Arsenal supporters have named the three positions that need attention in the transfer market and the three players they think Arteta needs to fill them. RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano, Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi and Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha are among the names picked out by fans to fix issues in the squad.

3 Money-Saving Upgrades For Your Home

Those blasted utility bills!

With rising gas and electricity prices, many of us have been burdened with added expenses in recent years.

Of course, we don’t have to put up with them. As we suggested in our article on slashing the family budget, we can switch to cheaper energy suppliers. We can also form better habits around the home, perhaps by making the effort to unplug charged devices, and by turning off the lights in rooms we aren’t using.

Another way to lower our utility bills is to add money-saving upgrades to our homes. Within this context, we have a few suggestions below.

#1: A smart heating thermostat

By connecting one up to your boiler and wifi, you have the ability to control your heating at the touch of a button on your phone. You can time it to come on when you need it in the morning, and you can time it to turn off when you know you won’t be at home. You can also set heating zones in your home, so you can heat your rooms separately. With such control over your heating, you need never run the risk of wasting energy again. While the price of a smart thermostat is relatively expensive – you’re looking at around $200 – experts suggest they can knock around $250 a year from your annual bill, so the cost is more than worth it.

#2: A ceiling fan

Many of us have the tendency to turn the aircon on to the max when trying to stay cool in the summer months, but this, of course, has financial consequences. Thankfully, you can reduce your energy bill by using a ceiling fan to keep you cool instead. You can even buy dual ceiling fans, so on those very hot days, having one of these bad boys turned on will keep you twice as cool! Follow the previous link for some very attractive examples, and choose something that will not only reduce your energy bill but that can match your home’s decor as well.

#3: LED light bulbs

LED light bulbs cost a few dollars more than the traditional incandescent bulbs that many of us use, but they use around 90% less energy when they are turned on. They last a lot longer too, with an approximate lifespan of 25 years. So, as well as the reduction in your energy bill, you will have less need to fork out on new bulbs every year, so further savings can be made. And if you have an Amazon Alexa in your home (or similar smart device), you could go one step further, and buy remote controlled LED light bulbs. When they are hooked up to your wifi, you can easily switch them on and off when required. This is especially useful if you leave your home and realize you have left your lights on!

Finally

We have only mentioned a few home upgrades here, but there are plenty of other products that you might want to consider. From water-efficient showerheads to reduce your water bill, to smart plugs that turn off automatically when devices are charged, continue your research online for more money-saving ideas.

Escape Rooms

An escape room, also known as an escape game, is a game in which a team of players cooperatively discover clues, solve puzzles, and accomplish tasks in one or more rooms in order to progress and accomplish a specific goal in a limited amount of time. The goal is often to escape from the site of the game. Escape rooms are inspired by “escape-the-room”–style video games. This is also the likely source of their name. It is also referred to as Room Escape, Escape Game, Exit Game, Live Escape, to name a few. In spite of the name, escaping a room may not be the main goal for the players, nor is the game necessarily confined to a single room. The participants in an escape room normally play as a cooperative team ranging anywhere between two and ten players.

Games are set in a variety of fictional locations, such as prison cells, dungeons, and space stations. The player’s goals and challenges they encounter usually follow the theme of the room. The game begins with a brief introduction to the rules of the game and how to win. This can be delivered in the form of video, audio, or a gamemaster. After this, the clock is started and players have 45 to 60 minutes to complete the game. During this time, players explore, find clues, and solve puzzles that allow them to progress further in the game. Challenges in an escape room lean more to mental than physical, and it is not necessary to be physically fit or dextrous. If a team gets stuck, there is a mechanism in place for the players to ask for hints. These hints can be delivered using paper, video, audio, or a gamemaster in the room.

If the players are unable to solve the game’s puzzles within a time limit, the team is typically notified by the game’s operator and escorted out of the room. If players achieve the goal within the time limit, they win the game. Sometimes, teams with fast times are placed on a leaderboard. Most escape rooms have clues and codes to unlock other areas.

And we have atleast one in Kochi! I was surprised. So last Friday during a meeting, the director of our department said that the quarterly R&R program will be held in an Escape Room that is run in Kochi, called Escape The Room instead of the usual hotel hall and buffet dinner. After that we would go to a nice restaurant nearby for dinner. The day is tomorrow and I am excited. I will let you know how it is.

Arteta Expected To Be Announced As New Arsenal Manager

Mikel Arteta is expected to be named as Arsenal’s permanent head coach – but what are the qualities that have seen him move into pole position for the job? Arteta is in advanced talks to become the permanent successor to Unai Emery at the Emirates Stadium. Talks between Arsenal and Manchester City are ongoing and progressing well, with City boss Pep Guardiola expecting Arteta to make a quick decision over his future. Arteta is about to become Arsenal head coach 18 months after he was first interviewed for the job. He came very close to being appointed in the summer of 2018 after Arsene Wenger left but at the last minute, Arsenal decided to give the job to Unai Emery instead.

Arteta’s appointment will receive a mixed reception from Arsenal fans. Many are concerned by his lack of managerial experience, others are more open to the idea of bringing in a former Arsenal captain to rebuild the playing side of the club. As far as the Arsenal board are concerned, they have long been impressed with Arteta and it was only a last-minute change of heart that saw Emery appointed ahead of him 18 months ago. Arteta fits the bill because he is an outstanding young coach who has played for Arsenal and knows what it means to play for and represent the club. He has worked under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City for three years and, like Guardiola, came through the Barcelona system as a player. He has played an important part in making City one of the best sides in the world. He works closely with individual players and has been credited with playing a key role in the development of young players such as Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane.

Arteta wants the Arsenal job and he will cost a lot less in compensation and wages than other big-name managers. Arsenal are expected to pay City less than £1m and Arteta’s estimated annual salary of £5m is less than half what managers such as Guardiola, Jose Mourinho and Jurgen Klopp earn. Arteta’s ability to speak English fluently is also an important factor in his appointment. Emery struggled to communicate effectively with the media and fans and Arsenal were determined to make sure their new manager was a good English speaker. It also helps that Arteta speaks Spanish when it comes to dealing with club executives such as head of football Raul Sanllehi. Manchester City’s current manager Pep Guardiola. In an interview with my colleague Geoff Shreeves, Pep said he’d definitely be a candidate to replace him at City, and in recent weeks has made no secret of the high esteem he holds his No 2 in.

How to Enjoy Sports in the Outdoors

If you’re going to get fit and active, then you may as well have some fun doing it. While you can get healthy by spending a few hours in the gym each week, the truth is that it’s not always so enjoyable to be there: indeed, could it be considered a little boring? We’d argue so. So find an activity that you love, and if possible, make it something that you can do in the outdoors. This will give you the added benefit of all the good things that the outdoors can provide, including a boost in your mood. Below, we take a look at some tried and tested that’ll have you loving your activity in nature.

Find Your Activity

First, you’ll want to find your activity. There’s no shortage of great activities to do in the great outdoors. Do you want to take up cycling, or hiking, or perhaps winter sports like cross country skiing are more your thing? Before settling on one activity, try a few. You don’t want to invest years doing one sport only to, later on, try another and find that you should have been doing that activity all along.

Get the Gear

Gyms do have a couple of big benefits; they have showers, they’re warm, there’s water on tap, and so on. When you’re going off into the outdoors, you’ll need to provide for yourself. It’s a foolish person that goes into the outdoors when they’re not fully prepared. The more ambitious you become with your activity, the more activity you’ll need. Seasonal clothing will be a must, as will water bottles and the like. It’s also important to be aware in case you find yourself in difficult situations. A rechargeable spotlight will come in very handy, and you might want to consider a satellite phone too if you’re going into potentially dangerous environments. You’ll likely slowly accrue these items as you get more into your hobby.

Embrace Some Discomfort

When you first begin your new hobby, you’ll likely have grand expectations of being out there when it’s a beautiful day, with blue skies and the perfect temperature. But that’s not going to happen every time. There’ll be times when you’re out there when the rain is battering down, or it’s freezing cold. If you want to make your hobby a long-term part of your life, then you’ll have to embrace some discomfort — and know that you’ll have to call it a day from time to time.

Find A Clan

You can make your new hobbies even more enjoyable by finding a clan of people who are also into the activity. There’s a lot of fun going out into the outdoors with like-minded people — they’ll make the before, during, and after extra fun. If there’s no-one in your friend group that has any interest, then look elsewhere. Websites like meetup.com and Facebook groups can connect you with people — and this can also be especially useful when you’re just starting the activity and need some guidance.

It might be that you just need a protein shake or supplement such as beta-alanine to keep you going. It’s also important to be aware in case you find yourself in difficult situations. What Are Your Holiday Traditions?

Simply put, I have no traditions. Not much anyways. I will only get the 25th and the 1st off from work, which sucks I know. But then American, British, Canadian & Australian companies outsource their work to developing nations like ours so they can relax and take all the holidays they want. And also they are tired of listening to the whining of their fellow citizens who are their customers. Just kidding! Well actually, no.

So for me, I will get some beer (or maybe some vodka + Sprite or Pepsi/Coke) and stock some in my fridge. I will order in some good food that I like. If my parents are with me then I will ask them what they would want. And I will select some good movies to watch. And it will be relaxation from my bed, listening to some music and watching Youtube videos in between the movies.

I have this policy of always drinking on New Year’s eve and never drinking on the 1st of January. You might call that a tradition. I have stuck to that for several years and I like that.

Could You Claim Compensation For Slipping And Falling?

Slipping and falling as a result of the negligence of another individual can leave you with significant injuries and costly medical bills. The National Floor Safety Institute (NFSI) has found that the chance of a person slipping and falling increases with every ten years of their life with those over 65 having as much as a 1 in 3 chance of slipping and falling. That being said a person of any age can slip and fall due to improper safety procedures and floor maintenance leaving them with medical debt they can’t afford, lifelong debilitating injuries and a lack of confidence.

The top four causes of slips and falls

Slips and falls are frustratingly common and can often have been prevented with simple adherence to health and safety protocols. Although slips and falls can occur for many reasons the top four causes include:

  1. Food or drink on the floor
In supermarkets and restaurants, spilled food or drink can pose a serious risk. Staff members are supposed to be diligent and clearly signpost and then clean up any spillages quickly to avoid their customers from slipping and falling, however, this is not always the case and they can be left for many hours until they are reported.
  2. Unclean restrooms
Spilled water, toilet roll and other spillages on bathroom floors can make them very hazardous which are why public restrooms are supposed to be monitored several times a day to ensure that they remain clean, tidy and safe. Public toilets are supposed to keep records of their toilet maintenance to prove that they are regularly serviced.
  3. Wet cleaned floors
Many establishments mop and clean their floors daily to keep them clean and tidy however this can leave them wet and slippery. Stores and offices are supposed to erect wet floor signs to warn their employees and customers that the floor may be wet and to treat carefully but many fail to do so.
  4. Badly maintained parking lots
Another common area for people to slip and fall is in the badly maintained parking lot of a shop or grocery store. Parking lots can quickly develop cracks and potholes which can be hazardous to those walking in them.

In addition to these 4 common causes of slips and falls people may also fall due to improperly maintained stairwells, poor lighting, stray electrical cords, overgrown sidewalks, and poorly positioned rugs.

What to do if you have slipped and fallen

If you have slipped and fallen as a result of someone else’s negligence then you could be owed compensation by the company or organization who failed to keep you safe. In this situation, the best thing to do is to contact a reputable slip and fall lawyer for the area in which you slipped and fell so that they can hear your case Your slip and fall lawyer will help you to gather evidence, acquire witness testimonies, determine how long the issue was present for and build your case so that you can work with you to ensure that you get the compensation you deserve for your injuries.

Mostly Vampire Shift

This week atleast till Friday, I will be doing the dreaded vampire shift. Or I guess it’s mostly a vampire shift since it is 12:30 am to 9:30 am and vampires cannot stand the sun. And it was pretty sunny at 9:30 am when I stepped outside of the office building to get an Uber ride home.

So this week and probably the next is a very busy week for our clients and the non-voice customer support (emails & chats) we provide for them is flooded with contacts from customers. We have a lot of new employees – over 200 who just started work last month – and they need all the support that they can get. Hence, my team is also roped in to help them.

Three of us are doing a 12:30 am to 9:30 am and 2 are doing a 2:30 am to 11:30 am shift. This is really tiring for an old man like me. I can manage to get to the office on time and staying up till 6am was actually a cinch. But by 7 am I was dozing off at my system. Coffee didn’t help. I couldn’t wait for 9 am so I could go get a nice big breakfast at the cafeteria and then leave by 9:30 on the dot. Tomorrow it’s the same. Friday evening we have a function to attend with the entire department so let’s see how that goes.

Happy Death Day 2U

Happy Death Day 2U is a 2019 American science fiction black comedy slasher film written and directed by Christopher Landon. It stars Jessica Rothe, Israel Broussard, Rachel Matthews, Phi Vu, Suraj Sharma, Sarah Yarkin, Ruby Modine, and Steve Zissis. The film again follows Tree Gelbman (Rothe), who is accidentally transported to another dimension, where she must relive a different version of the same day repeatedly as she tries to return home, while a new killer is on the loose. The film is a sequel to 2017’s Happy Death Day, with Jason Blum again serving as a producer through his Blumhouse Productions company.

This time it’s Carter’s roommate and friend Ryan who initially experiences the time loop. It’s Tuesday, September 19 (the morning after the events of the first film) and he wakes up in his car and walks in on Carter and Tree making out. He then heads to the university lab to work on an experimental quantum reactor with fellow students Samar and Dre. After Bronson, the school dean, shuts down the project for triggering several power outages, Ryan is murdered by someone dressed as Babyface, and wakes up again on Tuesday the 19th. Tree explains her experience reliving Monday the 18th, and she and Carter agree to help Ryan. They learn the reactor was responsible for creating the loop. The new Babyface tracks Ryan down, but Tree unmasks him to reveal another Ryan. The second Ryan warns that the original must die for the loop to close. Terrified, Ryan activates the reactor, releasing a powerful energy pulse that knocks everyone unconscious.

She then wakes up in Carter’s room on Monday the 18th  Lori is not the Babyface killer, and Carter is now dating a nicer Danielle. Ryan theorizes that the reactor caused Tree to drift into another dimension. When Tree learns her mother is still alive in this new reality, she decides to stay. That night, Tree goes to the hospital to intercept serial killer John Tombs before he escapes, but is confronted by a police officer. Babyface kills the officer and Tree runs into Lori, who tells her that Babyface cannot be Tombs because she just took him in for surgery. Babyface stabs Lori, then chases Tree to the roof, where she accidentally falls to her death. She wakes at the beginning of her loop, and demands that Ryan and his team help her escape it, requiring they test dozens of algorithms. At Carter’s suggestion, Tree serves as the group’s recorder, killing herself at the end of each day so they can start again. Eventually, her injuries catch up with her and she faints.

Waking up in the hospital, Tree steals a gun to go after Tombs, only to find Lori already dead. Babyface attacks and Tree shoots him dead. However, a second Babyface appears, forcing Tree to kill herself and Babyface. The group finally discovers the correct algorithm, but a technical issue forces a delay. Faced with a choice of which reality she wants to be in when both time loops close, Tree decides to remain in the current dimension. Carter urges Tree to consider the consequences of living a life that is not truly hers, and states that her experience with grief helped shape the person she is now. Tree hides from Babyface in a hotel. That evening, the news reports that Carter was murdered trying to save Lori at the hospital. Tree kills herself and deactivates the reactor so she can save Carter and Lori. The loop restarts, and Tree decides to return to her own reality. She advises Lori to end her affair with her professor Dr. Butler, discovers that Danielle is cheating on Carter, and has a final conversation with her mother.

Bronson confiscates the reactor before the group can activate it. Believing she is too weak to survive another loop, Tree insists they retrieve the device. The group enlists Danielle to distract Bronson while they recover the reactor. As Ryan readies the device, Tree goes to the hospital to rescue Lori from Tombs, but is trapped by the second Babyface—revealed to be Dr. Butler trying to bury the evidence of his affair with Lori. Dr. Butler’s wife Stephanie appears and shoots Lori, revealing she is in league with her husband, before he betrays and shoots her as well. Tree outsmarts Butler and kills him. Lori survives, and Tree and Carter kiss as the reactor activates, sending Tree back to her original dimension on Tuesday the 19th. Post credits we see that Tree, Carter, Ryan, Samar and Dre are escorted by agents to a DARPA laboratory, where the reactor has been moved for further experimentation. When the agents say they need a test subject in order to see how the machine works, Tree says she knows the perfect test subject. In her bedroom, Danielle wakes up screaming in horror.

It’s pretty funny but in my opinion it’s not as great as the first one as the original has that sense of being a unique look at the slasher/black comedy and the charm of being something different with a tongue-in-cheek approach. While Jessica Rothe is still funny and charming, I feel this movie is slightly less good. I will give it a 7 outta 10!

Retirement: Why You Should Plan It Now

It doesn’t matter how young you are; planning your retirement will be one of the smartest things you decide to do. You may wish to make changes along the way of course, but as long as you have a basic plan in place and a strategy for achieving it, you should be able to rest easy knowing that you have your future under control. Getting ready for retirement takes years of saving and investing, so it’s not something you should leave until the last minute. What if you have to retire early, too? Wouldn’t you like to be prepared for any outcome?

Read on and you’ll find out more about planning retirement:

Early Retirement

Even if you intend to keep on working later on in life, there may be circumstances that prevent you from doing that. Your company might close or downsize and you may be forced to leave. You may fall ill. It’s no good to dwell on these situations, but you should be ready for them.

It’s also important to consider that you may actually want to retire early. You may feel burned out from work and decide you actually don’t want to work for as long as you thought you did. As the average life expectancy rises, the age people are working to is also rising, so the option to retire before then is important.

Compound Interest

Compound interest is only something you can truly make the most of if you start saving and investing right now. This way, you’ll get more interest on the money you save, and better yet, compound any and all investments you make. The earlier you begin your investment portfolio, the better. Savings won’t do much for your wealth, but investments will.

Retirement Is The Best Time To Work Through Your Bucket List

Although you’ll probably work through it somewhat while you’re young, retirement can be the best time to get out there and enjoy the world. You could go snorkeling in Mexico, buy a condo in Costa Rica, or hiking in the mountains of Switzerland. Consider all of the things you would like to do and make sure you can afford it. Figure out how much you’ll likely need and how much you should be putting away each week/month.

You will probably come up with more things you’d like to do as you age, and you may even change your mind on a few things. However, as long as you have a rough idea of what your dream retirement looks like, you should be able to start working towards it.

Resisting The Temptation To Dip

You may have to overcome the temptation to dip into your savings every so often. You should have an emergency fund so you can turn to that in times of crisis, rather than go into your retirement fund and take money away from future you.
