Midfielder Matteo Guendouzi has joined Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin on a season-long loan. The France Under-21 international has made 82 appearances for us since joining from French side Lorient in summer 2018. Matteo started his career at Paris Saint-Germain’s academy before joining Lorient. He went straight into our first-team squad when he joined us, with only three players making more appearances than Matteo in his debut season of 2018/19. Everyone at Arsenal wishes Matteo well for the season.
Bayer Leverkusen remain in talks about signing Arsenal defender Sead Kolasinac, with the Bundesliga club preferring a loan deal with an obligation-to-buy option, while Lucas Torreira is on the verge of joining Atletico Madrid on loan and is having his medical in the Spanish capital. Hertha Berlin’s 18-year-old defender Omar Rekik is joining Arsenal. The transfer fee is estimated at €1m. He will train with the first-team.
Thomas Partey is now flying to London! Atlético Madrid board have received the notification 1 hour ago from Arsenal for Thomas.
Arsenal fans’ lovable mascot Gunnersaurs has been sacked after 27 years of service as the club looks to cut costs amid the coronavirus crisis. The club has deemed the role to no longer be essential due to the absence of fans at the Emirates. This decision, however, has been met with considerable hostility from the fans. Jerry Quy, the man inside the costume since the birth of the mascot in 1993, has been let go as the Arsenal board wants to ease the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic. This decision has left the fans furious. From fans to club legends, a host of those associated with Arsenal have bid teary-eyed goodbyes to the famous mascot.
The part-time mascot has been a club loyalist. Apart from seeing the club through the highs and lows, including the Invincibles of 2003-04, Jerry Quy also missed his brother’s wedding in order to be available to entertain fans during a home game. Despite his incredible commitment, he has been relieved of his duties given the situation. With no supporters to entertain, Arsenal have deemed Gunnersaurus’ job surplus to requirements.
Earlier, Arsenal became the first Premier League team to agree pay cuts with their first-team squad of 12.5% over 12 months, although that was reduced to 7.5% after the Gunners qualified for the Europa League by winning the FA Cup. The club, however, made as many as 55 posts redundant as they look to overcome the financial pinch they are facing due to the absence of fans in the stadium.
So even during the pandemic I get to try out a new beer or a beer I haven’t tried out before. Beck’s Ice, inspired by its German heritage from 1873 and made from 100% pure malt Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev) is betting big on Beck’s Ice, a German 100% malt beer, to make a dent in the growing affordable premium segment of the beer market in India delivers pure refreshment to consumers in a flint bottle that comes with a ring full feature.
Beck’s Ice was pilot-launched in some parts of Maharashtra in July 2018 and then became available in Karnataka and Puducherry about a month later, and in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Goa around October 2018. I don’t know when they started getting it here in Kerala. That is good now only if we could also get Stella Artois & Hoegaarden often in Kochi. Priced at Rs.150 it is a bit more expensive than the ones I usually buy.
Beck’s is a European lager, and these lagers sometimes tend to be too bitter (or hoppy in brewing parlance) for the Indian palette. AB InBev has brought down the bitterness level in the Indian variant—Beck’s Ice. The brand is currently being brewed at its Maharashtra facility. I will do a taste review later. Glad that we are getting more & more brands but we should be getting more. With such a large population, we should be easily getting more international brands as easily as we get Kingfisher.
