Legendary movie producer and director Ivan Reitman who worked on iconic comedies such as “Animal House” and “Ghostbusters,” has died at the age of 75. Reitman died peacefully in his sleep at his home in Montecito, California, his family said in a statement on Sunday night. The Canadian director has been at the helm of hit movies and also served as producer for such films as Animal House (1978), Beethoven (1992), Space Jam (1996), and Private Parts (1997). Reitman was born in KomĂĄrno, Czechoslovakia, on October 27, 1946, the son of Klara and Ladislav “Leslie” Reitman. Both of Reitman’s parents were Hungarian Jews; his mother survived the Auschwitz concentration camp and his father was an underground resistance fighter.

His family came to Canada as refugees when Reitman was four years old. Reitman’s first producing job was with the then-new station CITY-TV in Toronto. In Toronto, he produced the stage production Spellbound (1973) which evolved into Broadway production The Magic Show. Reitman’s first commercial film ventures were as producer of two films for director David Cronenberg, Shivers (1975) and Rabid (1977). His big break came when he produced National Lampoon’s Animal House in 1978 and directed Meatballs in 1979. From there, he directed and produced a number of comedies including Stripes (1981),  Ghostbusters (1984),  Legal Eagles (1986), Twins (1988), Ghostbusters II (1989), Kindergarten Cop (1990),  Dave (1993), Junior (1994), Six Days, Seven Nights (1998),  Evolution (2001), My Super Ex-Girlfriend (2006), and No Strings Attached (2011).

In the early 1990s, Reitman began to direct fewer films, but increased his role as a producer and executive producer through his company, Northern Lights Entertainment. He helped to produce the animated film Heavy Metal (1981), as well as the live-action films Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone (1983), Beethoven (1992), Beethoven’s 2nd (1993), Space Jam (1996), Howard Stern’s film Private Parts (1997), Road Trip (2000), Old School (2003), EuroTrip (2004) and Trailer Park Boys: The Movie (2006). n 2007, Reitman was inducted into Canada’s Walk of Fame. He next produced the comedy I Love You, Man (2009), starring Paul Rudd and Jason Segel. Also in 2009, he produced the Academy Award-nominated film, Up in the Air, directed by his son Jason Reitman.

In his final decade, Reitman also co-produced the biographical film Hitchcock, released on November 23, 2012, directed the 2014 sports drama Draft Day, starring Kevin Costner, and served as executive producer on 2021’s Space Jam: A New Legacy as he had done for the first film. In mid-January 2019, news of a new Ghostbusters film, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, came through with Ivan’s son Jason Reitman taking over as co-writer and director. Ivan remained producer, and stood in for Ramis as Egon Spengler using digital makeup. The film was released on November 19, 2021, and was his final film in his lifetime. He is survived by his son Jason Reitman, wife Geneviève Deloir, and two daughter Catherine Reitman, an actress, producer and writer, who is three years younger, and Caroline, a nurse.

Time To Tackle Your Kitchen Renovation?

If you are looking for the right and good time to start kitchen renovation Milton project you guess it – fall is the perfect time to begin a kitchen remodeling project. The late summer and early fall light make it easy to decide on your color scheme, and it’s exciting to imagine celebrating in your new kitchen over the seasonal holidays. It’s also possible to take advantage of any end of season offers. Fall is a really popular time of year to have major work done to your kitchen too. In the long summer days and evenings, you can take advantage of the plentiful natural light to choose your decor scheme so that you’re ready to start your kitchen remodeling project once fall rolls around.

If you are about to tackle something as disruptive and expensive as a kitchen remodel, you’ll want to do it in the least stressful way possible. That means being efficient and effective both in the design and in the remodel phase, whether you are DIYing it or choosing to work with a designer.  Before you can dig into all the fun materials, you need to spend some time figuring out the new configuration for your kitchen. You need to measure your space accurately, and put the measurements into a design program to create a layout. Start by laying out the main stations for your kitchen. The basics are the range/cooking area (plus your microwave), the fridge, and the sink/dishwasher area.

Be sure to plan where you will have your trash and recycling (a pullout? under the sink? freestanding?). You may need to do some shopping at this point to look at appliances, since the size of your appliances will affect the layout of your space. In addition to those standard stations, your perfect kitchen might need a coffee station, an island, a pantry, a baking station, or any number of other bells and whistles. If you have the room, go for it – hopefully this is the only time you’ll be remodeling your kitchen, so dream a little.

Best Time To Interlock Your Driveway

For those interested in working on their driveways and other exteriors of their home, you should check out the best time to get the work done. During spring most corners of North America are starting to enjoy the signs that winter is officially ended. Work also begins on the home – everything from painting and roofing to re-paving the drive or parking area. This leads many to agree that it is a good time to interlock driveway in spring.

Asphalt is a very hot material, but it does not mean that you can have it installed during any other season than winter. It is best if daytime highs are in the 70 degree Fahrenheit range, which means that late spring or early autumn are ideal times. The temperature is still warm enough to allow any cleaners and sealers you use to dry faster.

Like other exterior fixtures for your home, interlocking stone driveways, patios, and walkways shouldn’t be overlooked during the spring-cleaning frenzy. No doubt, restoring your driveway is a big job. But the results will be worth it in terms of curb appeal, overall home value, and eliminating any issues like draining or uneven stones.

Benefits Of Buying A Used Fridge

While all appliances make our lives a lot more easier and pleasant, a brand new appliance can be a tough job on a tight budget. You can also purchase used appliances like fridges instead of buying new appliances. There are benefits of buying used fridges and it could be very cost-effective to get the most out of the household budgets. Buying used appliances can help you save a lot of money.

You can negotiate the price. When you shop for a new appliance at a big-box store, there are restrictions on what the associates can and can’t sell something for. So while they may be able to offer a 10 to 25 percent discount or promotion, that’s typically the most leeway they’ll have in your favor. When you’re buying used, you’re typically dealing with a person who might be open to more negotiations, either because you’re taking something off their hands, or because they listed it for more than they expected to sell it for. Start low and, after a little back and forth, you should be able to come close to a price you had in mind.

Some used appliances are not really used. The word “used” covers anything that isn’t straight out of a stock room. This label could end up on a fridge that was a floor model in a Home Depot aisle, or a brand-new refrigerator that was deemed too big once it was delivered to a home. Of course, when you’re buying the appliance from someone’s home, you can expect that there have been substantially more years of use on it, but in some cases it could just be slightly dented, scratched, or opened and closed a bunch as a floor model.

There are experts who can help. If you’re scoping out Craigslist and think you’ve found a diamond in the rough, you don’t need to go it alone. You can pay a pro from an appliance service company to evaluate an appliance for a small fee. Forking over $50 for someone to tell you that a too-good-to-be-true dishwasher is actually a dud will be worth it in the long run, and a specialist looks for things that you might not know to check. Use Yelp to find a local expert.

It’s The Simple Things That Matter

How can you show your family that you love them?

Well that is quite simple I guess. You do things for them that makes them feel happy. You get them dinners that they will like, you check what they are in the mood for and then either take them out or order in. You give them little gifts of things that will please them and that they would really enjoy.

Look for activities or things that your family may enjoy doing together. Take a trip, go for a vacation and ensure that this is something that everyone will enjoy. Try to make it so that there is something for everyone. If it is a trip, fill it with locations and activities for everyone old or young. Involve everyone in the decision making and get a consensus that everyone can agree upon.

Otherwise just spend time together. Every week or 2-3 times a week look for family time. Watch a movie together, cook a meal, prepare desserts and or cocktails/mocktails together. Try to find those things to do, doesn’t matter how simple it is or the duration – quality is what matters. These kind of decision making and doing things together will make the family unit happier and the relationships that much more healthier.

Wolverhampton Wolves 0 Arsenal 1

Gabriel scored the only goal and Gabriel Martinelli was given an unusual red card as Arsenal beat Wolves for their first win of 2022. Defender Gabriel bundled home Alexandre Lacazette’s flick-on to score the only first-half goal Wolves have conceded in the Premier League since October. Gunners forward Martinelli was sent off in the second half for two bookings shown at the same time for infringements seconds apart – stopping a throw-in and a foul on Chiquinho. The better chances came after that, with Lacazette shooting wide, but the visitors were holding on at the end. Arsenal keeper Aaron Ramsdale denied Romain Saiss and Leander Dendoncker and Chiquinho had a shot blocked on the line.

Arsenal’s first win in six games took them up to fifth and denied eighth-placed Wolves the chance of a fourth league win in a row. Martinelli’s red card was Arsenal’s fourth of 2022 – with Gabriel’s goal only their second of the year. But this win stops the rot of five games without a victory and boosts their Champions League ambitions. The major talking point was the red card though. Martinelli conceded a throw-in and then shoved Daniel Podence as the Wolves player was trying to take it. Referee Michael Oliver let play go on and Martinelli chased down Wolves substitute Chiquinho and fouled him. Oliver then showed him a yellow for the first foul, followed immediately by another yellow for the second, and he was sent off.

They thought they had levelled from the resulting free-kick but Granit Xhaka’s own goal was disallowed because Raul Jimenez was offside. A game involving Bruno Lage’s Wolves was never going to involve many goals – they have the third worst attack and the second best defence in the Premier League this season. They will have been disappointed at the manner in which they conceded as Arsenal scored from a corner routine, although the hosts thought Lacazette fouled keeper Jose Sa. Sa only had one save to make in the game and while his team pressed late on, they did not create enough genuine chances to score. Ruben Neves shot wide from a free-kick and Raul Jimenez’s acrobatic volley flew over the bar but they did not test Ramsdale enough.

Prometheus (2012)

Prometheus is a 2012 science fiction horror film directed by Ridley Scott, written by Jon Spaihts and Damon Lindelof and starring Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba, Logan Marshall-Green, and Charlize Theron. It is set in the late 21st century and centers on the crew of the spaceship Prometheus as it follows a star map discovered among the artifacts of several ancient Earth cultures. Seeking the origins of humanity, the crew arrives on a distant world and discovers a threat that could cause the extinction of the human species.

Development of the film began in the early 2000s as a fifth installment in the Alien franchise. Scott and director James Cameron developed ideas for a film that would serve as a prequel to Scott’s 1979 science-fiction horror film Alien. Prometheus was released on June 1, 2012, in the United Kingdom and on June 8, 2012, in North America. The film earned generally positive reviews, receiving praise for the designs, production values and cast performances, and criticism for an uneven script and unresolved plot points. The film grossed over $403 million worldwide. A sequel, Alien: Covenant, was released in May 2017.

Five Signs Your Job Isn’t for You And It’s Time To Move

1. Your health and mindset are suffering : You are constantly worried and thinking about work or aspects about work. You are not able to sleep and toss & turn at night reliving things that happened/said that day or that week. If this is you, your physical health is at risk as is your mental health.

2. There is no room for advancement : This is tricky. If you work in an organization where there is no chance to go up the ladder and you are stuck in doing the same job over the years, maybe they don’t want to promote you (you are doing a great job or they don’t think you are doing a good enough job for promoting) or they don’t have openings because everyone is happy where they are. That means no one above you is leaving, so no one above you gets promoted leaving a post available for you. Either situation, it’s not great for you so find some place else.

3. Your workload has increased, but pay hasn’t : Ah yes! Been there, done there. If they give you more and more work to do but your pay also doesn’t increase exponentially, it means that they are taking advantage of you and your good/timid nature. In one of my previous jobs that’s what happened to me for 6 months and I finally left after all their false promises.

4. You have a toxic boss: Ah, been there, done that! Almost twice, the second time not so much. The first time it was so bad that I called my actual manager, who worked in a different state, and said that I was this close to taking the laptop of said toxic local boss and smashing it on his head. Things were so bad for a while; I was directly taking on blame for things I wasn’t responsible for just to keep the peace. Finally I had enough. He wasn’t going to go away, so after a talk with my remote manager, I decided to resign and serve an extended notice period.

5. You aren’t being used to your full potential : This one is also another tricky one. It could be that they don’t your full potential but a good management will also try to do that. Maybe they also don’t have options open. But ask yourself this : Is your work too easy? Have you acquired new technical skills, but they aren’t being used or appreciated? Are your responsibilities the same they’ve been for years? When a promotion opens up, are you overlooked? Sounds like you’re being underutilized and not used to your full potential. In this case, it may be time to make that move.

5 Things To Keep In Mind For That Romantic Valentine’s Day Date

1. Don’t make it about you. This covers everything for your Valentine’s Day date; from the conversation, to the itinerary. Maybe leave that new action movie for another time. Or that chick flic. The best way to show them you care is to sacrifice your preferences in exchange for theirs. Compromise and find something you both will love.

2. Do leave the phone alone. That seemingly indispensable device, connecting us to people and events miles away, inherently removes us from those in our real-life sphere. Wow, that sounds heavy! Basically, leave the social media alone for the evening and you’re less likely to be distracted from good stuff, like face-to-face conversation. But bring it anyway, just in case you need to live-tweet your date from hell.

3. Avoid sending gifts, such as flowers, to the office of your loved one. I know, it’s common and could make him or her feel great, but it can also be embarrassing and bring unwanted attention to some, especially if it’s early in your relationship. When in doubt, offer in person. If you receive a bouquet or a package at work, be discreet and sensitive to the love lives of others, who are not in your bubble of bliss. Discreetly call or text your loved one to thank him.

4. Valentine’s Day is always on February 14th and we all celebrate on that day. To decrease the pressure, one option is to plan an activity on another less coveted date, such as during the following weekend. As a bonus, you could benefit from better service and a little extra attention. You might also choose to ignore this celebration … But be careful: this decision, like that of shifting the day, is a decision that must be made by the two of you! Make sure your loved one agrees.

5. No matter what gift or card you offer, it must be personalized to your sweetheart’s likes and suit his or her personality. Tell, toast or write what you love and appreciate and why. Don’t be afraid of being redundant and of repeating yourself. Everyone loves knowing that they are loved and for what reasons. It feels good, it reassures, it energizes and it is delights to know that we are loved.

Healthy Benefits Of Eating Sardines

Sardines is my favourite regular fish to eat during lunch. It is cheaper and smaller and hence we buy it regularly. Here are 20 surprising health benefits of sardines I wish I knew earlier:

1. It is rich in protein. Just 3 oz. of sardines provides 23 grams of protein.

2. It reduces inflammation and risk of disease. Sardines are an excellent source of EPA and DHA, which are two fatty acids that studies show the body uses to reduce inflammation. Inflammation is at the root of most diseases. If you want to “spice up” the anti-inflammatory defense, add a little bit of turmeric when you are preparing your sardines.

3. It provides many essential vitamins and minerals. Sardines are an excellent source of vitamin B 12, vitamin D, calcium, and selenium. The vitamin B 12 is especially important because studies show that about 40% of Americans are actually deficient in this important vitamin.

4. It protects bone health. In addition to the vitamins listed above, sardines are also a great source of calcium. Calcium is extremely important because 99% of the body’s calcium is stored in the bones and teeth. Just 2 oz. of sardines contains 217 mg of calcium.

5. It helps combat anxiety and depression. Sardines contain a high content of omega-3 fatty acids. New findings indicate that there is a strong correlation between omega-3 fatty acids and a lack of depression. As a result, they can help prevent mood disorders such as anxiety and depression.

6. It controls blood sugar levels. Both the high protein and healthy fat content work to slow down the absorption of sugar into the blood.

7. It helps curb appetite. Sardines help curb appetite by preventing food cravings and unnecessary snacking. Simply put, the high protein and high fat content helps promote weight loss because it fills you up.

8. It is one of the least contaminated sources of fish. Sardines do not contain as many toxins and metals as large predatory fish, such as tuna and swordfish.

9. It has a low ecological and environmental impact. Sardines are close to the bottom of the food chain because they feed on plankton.

10. It prevents blood clots. Regular intake of omega-3 fats, which is found in fish like sardines, is good for the heart because it reduces cholesterol and blood pressure.

11. It has anti-cancer properties. Cancer research has shown that the intake of calcium and vitamin D can be very helpful in preventing certain types of cancer.

12. It has antioxidant properties. Sardines contain selenium, which is helpful in neutralizing free radicals and protecting the organs from damage.

13. It promotes a healthy immune system. Consuming sardines can help in building up the immune system. Research shows that sardine fish oil may improve immune system by increasing the count of immune cells.

14. It is great for your skin. The fats found in sardines play a big role in skin cells. It decreases skin inflammation and gives you a healthy glow.

15. It reduces insulin resistance. Insulin resistance is one of the major factors to look for in diabetes. Some studies show that consuming sardines reduces insulin resistance.

16. It aids in the prevention of heart disease. The high omega-3 fatty acid content found in sardines play a major role in controlling heart disease. Research has shown that omega-3 fatty acids (such as EPA and DHA) break down bad cholesterol in the body and aid in the prevention of heart disease.

17. It reduces risk of age-related macular degeneration. Age related macular degeneration (AMD) is a condition which is usually seen in adults over the age of 50. Macular and retinal degeneration over the years results in loss of vision. Recent studies have shown that consuming fish, such as sardines, results in a reduced risk of developing AMD.

18. It is a very “efficient food.” It is low in calories but packed with nutrients. It is also easy to eat and can be prepared in many different ways.

19. It promotes healthy brain function. Fish oil and healthy fats are known to be good “brain food.” This makes sense when you consider that 60% of the brain is made up of fat.

20. It is rich in copper. Sardines are rich in copper, which is vital to the generation of energy from carbohydrates inside of cells.

Wordle: The Simple Word Game That Has Gone Viral

A simple word game that’s gone viral in 2022, with many people looking for what Wordle is and how to play the game. You might have seen those tiny red, amber and green tiles shared on the group chat or posted on social media and wondered what it could be.  Wordle is an online 5-letter word game. Each day a new word is released and players have six attempts to guess what the word of the day is. During the guesses, tiles will change colour to help players get the word. A grey letter means it isn’t in today’s word, whilst a yellow letter signals it is in the word but in the wrong position. Then there’s the green letter which means it’s in the word and in the right place.

Players select letters of the alphabet on the virtual keyboard and enter them into the 5 blank tiles. When they’re happy with their 5-letter word guess, they press the submit button. This then checks the word and lets you know if your word or some of the letters are correct. If it’s completely right – the full 5 letters turn green. If you correctly guess the word within the 6 attempts, then you win the game. If you win two days in a row or more, you automatically receive a winning streak. This keeps rolling over, unless you fail to guess the word one day and the streak is broken. 300,000 players reported at the beginning of January. It’s now believed that over 2 million users are playing Wordle globally.

It’s the day when lovers exchange kisses and receive chocolates and other sweets. In the country, the day actually started as a commercial invention but later became Valentine’s traditions.

France – Epicentre Of Romance. It is believed that the first-ever Valentine’s Day card was originated in France, when Charles, the Duke of Orleans, sent love letters to his wife from the prison in 1415. And the French village called “Valentine” turns into the epicenter of romance between 12th and 14th February. One can see the beautiful yards, trees, and homes decorated with love cards, roses, and proposals for marriage flakes. It probably is the most beautiful Valentine’s Day traditions in the world.
