Write a Post on Your Favorite Television Shows from Childhood

Battlestar Galactica :  is an American science fiction television series created by Glen A. Larson that began the Battlestar Galactica franchise. Starring Lorne Greene, Richard Hatch, and Dirk Benedict, it follows the surviving humans as they flee in Battlestar Galactica and other ships in search for a new home while being pursued by the Cylons. The series ran for the 1978–1979 season before being canceled after 24 episodes. This includes the 1980 sequel that ran for only 10 episodes and which is considered one of the worst scifi shows of all time. But the original is a groundbreaking series and the first show that is not a cartoon that I ever got into. I was into this show when I was just 4 years old when they showed the first and only season on Kuwaiti television back in 1980. They had it in reruns a lot and each time I was so excited to see the episodes.

V : The other show that reminds me so much of my childhood and is a big part of my life since then is V. V is a science fiction franchise created by American writer, producer and director Kenneth Johnson about a genocidal invading alien race known as the “Visitors”—reptilian humanoids disguised as human beings—trying to take over Earth, and the human reaction to this, including the Resistance group attempting to stop them, while others collaborate with the aliens for power and personal wealth. This includes the original mini-series, the Final Battle and the regular tv series that lasted for 1 season and 19 episodes before getting cancelled. The mini-series is brilliant though the regular series suffered from a severe drop in budget and lousy writing. Major stats included Marc Singer, Jane Badler, Faye Grant, Jeff Yagher, June Chadwick, Robert Englund, Jennifer Cooke & the indomitable Michael Ironside.

Misfits Of Science : Misfits of Science is an American superhero fantasy sci-fi drama created by James D. Parriott that aired on NBC from October 4, 1985 to February 21, 1986. The series discussed super-powered humans and their madcap adventures. The team is formed by Dr. Billy Hayes, a research scientist at the Humanidyne Institute who specializes in “human anomalies”. He works with shrinking Dr. Elvin “El” Lincoln, and together they recruit electrically powered Johnny Bukowski, a rock-and-roll musician, and Gloria Dinallo, a telekinetic teenanger. Starring the late Dean Paul Martin, the late Kevin Peter Hall, Mark Thomas Miller & a 19 year old Courtney Cox.

Automan : Automan is an American superhero television series produced by Glen A. Larson. It aired for 12 episodes (although 13 were made) on ABC between 1983 and 1984. It consciously emulates the stylistic trappings of the Walt Disney Pictures live-action film Tron, in the context of a superhero TV series. The series was later shown in reruns on the Sci-Fi Channel. Automan (the “Automatic Man”) follows the adventures of a police officer and computer programmer named Walter Nebicher (Desi Arnaz Jr.), who has created an artificially intelligent crime fighting program that generated a hologram (Chuck Wagner) able to leave the computer world at night and fight crime.

ThunderCats : is an American animated television series that was produced by Rankin/Bass Animated Entertainment and Leisure Concepts debuting in 1985, based on the characters created by Ted “Tobin” Wolf. The series, for which Leonard Starr was the head writer, follows the adventures of a group of catlike humanoid aliens. The animation for the episodes was provided by the Japanese studio Pacific Animation Corporation, with Masaki Iizuka as production manager. The studio was acquired in 1989 to form Walt Disney Animation Japan. Season 1 of the show aired in 1985, consisting of 65 episodes, followed by a TV movie entitled ThunderCats – Ho! in 1986. Seasons 2, 3, and 4 each contained twenty episodes, starting with a five-part story.

Arsenal 2 Leeds United 1

Arsenal took a huge step towards securing Champions League football next season as they saw off an ill-disciplined Leeds United, with the 10-man visitors dropping into the Premier League relegation zone. It was a fourth successive win for Mikel Arteta’s side and one that puts them firmly in the driving seat for a top-four spot before Thursday’s north London derby at Tottenham. But Leeds’ early capitulation was entirely of their own making, with goalkeeper Illan Meslier gifting the hosts an opener before captain Luke Ayling was sent off for a needless lunge on Gabriel Martinelli.

Eddie Nketiah pounced on Meslier’s loose touch to open the scoring and then finished a swift move to double the Gunners’ lead before Ayling’s rash challenge left Leeds a man down for more than an hour. The Elland Road outfit did not have an effort on goal until Diego Llorente headed past Aaron Ramsdale in the 66th minute to tee up more of a nervy finish than anyone inside Emirates Stadium would have anticipated. Leeds applied some late pressure, sending Meslier up for set-pieces, but the fourth-placed hosts were never seriously in danger of losing their lead and now hold a four-point lead over Tottenham in fifth.

Defeat for Leeds, coupled with Everton’s win at Leicester, means Jesse Marsch’s side slip into the bottom three with three games remaining. With Spurs drawing at Liverpool on Saturday, Arsenal knew if they could successfully navigate this potential stumbling block they would head into one of the most crucial north London derbies in recent years on Thursday with a commanding lead over their rivals. The hosts were handed the ideal start when Meslier took a loose touch from Ayling’s pass and allowed Nketiah to pounce for the opener – a reward for both his persistent pressing and recent performances leading the Arsenal line.

Arsenal’s flowing attack toyed with the visitors as Martin Odegaard’s free-kick found its way onto the bar and Martinelli poked a half-volley over, only for the Gunners to be caught out from Leeds’ first corner. It made things slightly less comfortable than Arteta will have hoped for but his side got the vital win they needed before a trip to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where victory will confirm Arsenal’s return to the Champions League for the first time since 2016-17.

Three Beliefs I hold Near & Dear To Me

Choose three of your beliefs and why they matter to you.

There is alien life out there and even intelligent alien life, some who are somewhat similar to us. There are some earth like planets and I suppose that there will be humanoid lifeforms. Out of those humanoid lifeforms some will be similar to us and I hope we get to meet them. As for non-humanoid forms as well, I do hope we get to meet them and hope these aliens are more friendly than some seen in scifi. Now I do not know this for sure but I am not arrogant enough to believe that in

Mankind will eventually evolve enough intelligently to get rid of borders and made up religions & gods. They will confine such superstitious nonsense to the archives of history and title them as “Do not bother with such rubbish”. It will take ages to get this done as there are a lot of religious fervour in the world and religion has a lot of money and power. But someday, somehow – it will take a few centuries perhaps – we will kill off all your gods and religions.

Humans will travel & explore the various planets and the galaxy. This is something that I wish we could do now. Travel the stars and the planets and explore the nearby solar systems. Go and see those alien worlds and see how the land looks like on then, the plant and animal life. Visit the aliens and see if they are friendly and create friendships with them. Chase a comet or asteroid as the they head out into deep space. “Second star to the right and straight on ’til morning.”

How To Help Someone Who Is Having An Asthma Attack

If someone is having an asthma attack, always follow the instructions outlined on their medication.  However, if they do not have them to hand, these are the steps to follow. These guidelines are suitable for both children and adults.

Be calm and reassuring as reducing the stress and keeping the casualty calm really helps them to control their symptoms. Panic can increase the severity of an attack. Take one to two puffs of the reliever inhaler (usually blue), immediately – using a spacer device if available.

  • Stay as calm as you can and encourage them to stay calm too
  • Sit them down, loosen any tight clothing and encourage them to take slow, steady breaths.
  • If they do not start to feel better, they should take more puffs of their reliever inhaler
  • If they do not start to feel better after taking their inhaler as above, or if you are worried at any time, call 999/112.
  • They should keep taking the reliever inhaler whilst waiting for the paramedics to arrive
  • If the person has been prescribed an adrenaline auto-injector and you suspect the asthma attack may be due to an allergic reaction and the reliever inhaler is not working administer the AAI. Give this injection into the upper, outer part of their thigh according to the instructions. If worried in any way, check with the emergency services and keep them informed and updated as to the casualty’s condition.

Encouraging someone to sit upright is generally helpful when dealing with breathing problems. Sitting the wrong way round on a chair may be a good position for them.

RIP Kenneth Welsh

Prolific Canadian actor Kenneth Welsh has died after a decades-long career on stage, television and the big screen. He was 80. Welsh passed peacefully last evening surrounded by those closest to him. ACTRA Toronto called the Edmonton-born Welsh “one of Canada’s all-time great performers, with hundreds of memorable roles spanning decades.” Welsh was born in Edmonton, Alberta, to a father who worked for the Canadian National Railway. He grew up in Alberta and studied drama at school. He later moved to Montreal and attended the National Theatre School. Following graduation, he auditioned for the Stratford Festival in Ontario and then spent the first seven years of his career on stage.

Welsh was one of those actors who has portrayed multiple historical figures including Thomas E. Dewey, Colin Thatcher, Harry S. Truman (twice), Thomas Edison, James “Scotty” Reston, General Harry Crerar and James Baker. He has made guest appearances on the acclaimed TV series Due South  and Slings & Arrows. He often played men of authority & sometimes a villainous role. In 1984, he was nominated for a Genie Award as Best Actor for his portrayal of Reno Colt in the film Reno and the Doc, written and directed by Charles Dennis. In 1997, Welsh directed Dennis in the latter’s play SoHo Duo at the West Bank Theatre in New York City. In 2003, he was made a Member of the Order of Canada.

His role as the Vice-President of the United States in the 2004 environmental disaster film The Day After Tomorrow sparked some controversy due to his physical resemblance to Dick Cheney, who at the time was the Vice-President. In science fiction he has had appearances in ReGenesis, Stargate : Atlantis & most recently in Star Trek Discovery.

Retro-style Mechanical RGB Keyboards – Why Is It So Popular?

One of the things I have noticed is that in the last couple of years, it seems that these retro mechanical style RGB keyboards have been a craze among many techies, gamers and even regular people who love the look and feel of them. How come these old typewriter style keyboards have become so popular? I mean I love the colourful lights and that some of them have, like this one in the picture. An RGB keyboard is versatile, allowing you to select any of the 16+ million colors of the RGB wheel and apply them on a per-key basis, whether individually or in sets. This makes RGB keyboards a big, colorful step beyond the old-style backlit models or the ones that display just a few basic colors.

Then there is the mechanical aspect; on mechanical keyboards, each plastic keycap covers a physical switch that goes up and down. It can be triggered not just when you push the key all the way down, but even part of the way down. As a result, you can type faster and more comfortably on these keyboards. A lot of people seem to like the clackity clack clack sound on typing each word. The colour options (the ones I have seen, like the example shown above) have 8 to 10 types of setting changes for the colours. They light up like a dream, add unlimited fun to the game. These modes will give you more enjoyable when you gaming or typing at night.light up the alloy to awaken your gaming passion.

Laser engraving technology ensures that the LOGO will not fade. The fashion retro steampunk keycap uses a two-color injection molding process, anti-fading, strong wear and tear away from the long-term use of character fade trouble, not dazzling, no oil, even light and maintain good light transmission. I’m told that some people find typing and editing content easier to use on these mechanical keyboards and the lights are more for aesthetic & fun purposes.

The Pangs Of The Heart That Longs For You

Write about your first love — be it a person, place, or thing.

I’ve had my crushes throughout my years. When I was 12 I had this major crush on a girl 2 years older than me. That last a little while and by the age of 13 I had a crush on another girl. And I have posted about my first girlfriend, the first girl who said she liked me but I also do think about this girl who didn’t tell me directly that she liked me, but apparently it was kind of known among her friends that she liked me and I was interested in her as well. But that was puppy love ofcourse as I was 14 and she was 12.

Yeah, so many, many years ago and I have sort of forgotten what her face looked like – at times it’s a blur but at times she appears in my mind as clear as if she was standing face to face to me. I rarely do think about her but since the last 2 years or so I keep thinking about her once in a while – mainly because I hear her name a lot more. And that is because, my next door neighbours have a teenage daughter with that name and I have a colleague who has the same name as well. So about this then 12 year old girl who had a crush on me she was in the 7th grade when I was in the 9th grade. Her name was Maryam and she was from a Muslim family.

Her parents were ultra strict with her but not mainly with regards to religion or religious upbringing. Infact, in hindsight, her family must seem quite modern to most now. They were very strict with her studies and things like that. So they had no television and no games and no radio! This is the year 1990! Her family were well off enough to afford a couple of tvs and a few radios and walkman but she and her younger sister were forbidden to have them at home. Anyways towards the end of that year, I came to know that she had a crush on me, based on a few comments her friends made and what she wrote in my book (like a year end autograph book we used to keep back then).

All summer I was dreaming of meeting her again and actually pursuing this and maybe get to know her even better. Unfortunately, when I came back to school and started looking for her, she was not to be seen. I spoke to a couple of her girl friends and they said that her parents had moved away to another city and hence she had left the school. I feel that it is a shame. I hope she has had a wonderful life so far and has a nice family to get home to.

Cinco De Mayo : What This Day Is About And Some Facts

Cinco de Mayo, (Spanish: “Fifth of May”) also called Anniversary of the Battle of Puebla,  holiday  celebrated in parts of Mexico and the United States in honour of a military victory in 1862 over the French forces of Napoleon III. Cinco de Mayo is celebrated on Thursday, May 5, 2022. Although Mexico did achieve a major victory against the French at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, this success was more of a much-needed morale booster rather than a strategic win.

Although the day is celebrated in the city of Puebla (where the epic victory occurred) with military parades and a smattering of other festivities in the street, Cinco de Mayo is not considered to be a major holiday in the rest of Mexico—save the occasional battle re-enactment. In fact, Cinco de Mayo is a much bigger deal in the United States, particularly in places with large Mexican communities. In Mexico, the holiday is not recognized at the federal level. President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Good Neighbor Policy, passed in 1933 to improve relations with Latin American countries, paved the way for Cinco de Mayo to become a more mainstream American holiday. That said, Californians had jumped on the Cinco de Mayo bandwagon far sooner, due to the large Mexican immigrant population in the state.

Cinco de Mayo is typically honored across the United States with jubilant street festivals that attract sizable crowds. It’s easy enough to locate a taco vendor, score a margarita or indulge in a burrito (preferably one the size of your face) on Cinco de Mayo—but you might be surprised to know that none of these Mexican fare favorites are considered to be the official dish of Cinco de Mayo. For a more authentic celebration of the holiday, opt for a dish that features mole poblano instead: This rich, dark brown sauce—made with Mexican chocolate and a boatload of spices—boasts incredibly bold flavor and a divine balance of texture. Mole Poblano hails from (you guessed it) the Mexican city of Puebla where the historic battle victory occurred.

As you might expect, some American cities hold bigger celebrations than others when it comes to Cinco de Mayo. So where can you find the best bash on May 5th? Head to Los Angeles, where festivities take over both Olvera Street and Broadway; Chicago and Houston have similarly raucous celebrations—the former boasts a parade in the Pilsen area of the city (with all the trappings of a solid Cinco de Mayo event), while a host of Houston businesses get in on the action with holiday specials.

Six Weird Laws In Alabama

1. It’s illegal to impersonate a priest

The church is something taken very seriously in Alabama. Many laws on the books prohibit you from doing several different things while in a sanctuary. One of the most egregious offenses is impersonating a priest. According to Find Law, this includes wearing items that one might mistake as religious garb. This law not only extends to priests but also nuns and rabbis. If you get caught trying to pass yourself off as one of the people, you may receive a five hundred dollar fine and jail time up to one year.

2. You can’t wear high heels in Mobile

Love them or hate them, high heels can elevate an outfit despite how uncomfortable they might be. Some women don’t wear them because of this, and others still do because they think they look nice. Yet, if you live in Mobile, it may be time to place your high heel collection on Posh Mark. The state forbids any shoes with stiletto heels. Never fear; a pair of nice wedges should work nicely and won’t hurt your feet as much.

3. It’s illegal to tie an alligator to a fire hydrant

Even though cats and dogs are the most popular pets worldwide, people prefer more exotic pets like big cats and reptiles. Some people are known to take their alligators on walks like they were a dog. That’s fine even if you’re in Alabama, but if you need to make a quick run into the store, you better take them home first. The state strictly forbids using a fire hydrant as a spot to keep your alligator until you return.

4. Alabama’s confusing mask law

This law became a little bit tricky during the pandemic. According to Morris Bart, wearing masks in Alabama is illegal. However, during the pandemic, there was a state mandate to wear a mask. Alabama went so far as to tell people to disregard the original law for public safety. Even though the mask mandates no longer exist, both directives remain on the books. So, it looks like one cancels out the other, and you are free to wear a mask, or not depending on your mood.

5. You will be prosecuted for sleeping with a virgin

Women’s virtues are safe in Alabama. There are some marriages the state is lax on; they are also very rigid about other things. One of those is men who decide to bed a virgin. This law doesn’t take age or marital status into account. However, it is definitely about the amount of jail time, five years. So, it’s best not to even hold hands just in case you start to think about doing other things. After all, you never know who might be watching you.

6. Flicking your boogers is illegal

Let’s face it everyone has had their finger in their nose at one point when they thought no one was looking. However, it’s just as likely you quickly flicked it somewhere if you didn’t have Kleenex handy. According to Weird Facts, it’s best not to try this in Alabama. If you flick your booger and it gets caught in the wind, state law dictates you might face prosecution. It’s unclear what happens if it’s a calm day and it simply drops to the ground.

Infinite (2020 Movie)

Infinite is a 2021 American science fiction action film directed by Antoine Fuqua. The screenplay, which was written by Ian Shorr, is based on a story by Todd Stein, which is itself adapted from D. Eric Maikranz’s 2009 novel The Reincarnationist Papers. The film stars Mark Wahlberg, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Sophie Cookson,  Jason Mantzoukas, Rupert Friend, Toby Jones and Dylan O’Brien.

The film was digitally released on Paramount+ on June 10, 2021, following delays from its original August 2020 theatrical release due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It received negative reviews from critics who criticized the performances and screenplay, with some comparing it unfavorably with other films like The Matrix.

This Is What’s On My Desk Right Now

Share what’s on your desk right now

I could share a picture but since it is a mess I will just post as to what is on my desk. Ok so the major part of my small desk is taken up with the CPU & 21 inch monitor (Lenovo) of my work desktop. Unfortunately due to the client’s specification it has to be this all in one pc/monitor. The CPU is for the Windows OS and storing files. Keyboard and mouse as well. Yes I wish they could make things work with a laptop (give me a 16 in or even a 17 in laptop, it works) but there is nothing we can do about it.

Now for what else takes up the little space that is left over on the desk – I usually have a tumbler, 1 glass for water and a bottle of water on the table. Next to the tumbler I have my Amazon Echo and near it I usually have two of my USB thumb drives – 1 is usually plugged in to my smart tv.  And then on the left side (my left) I have a small pack of AAA batteries (for my tv’s remote) and AA batteries and a mosquito repellent device (which I only plug in when the mosquitoes are really biting).

And if you want to include the lower section (which was initially meant to house the keyboard) I have 4 external hard drives kept on there so I can pick them and access them whenever I want to. From time to time I also keep my tripod on the desk as well (squeezing in whatever space is left) for shooting some videos that I do for my movie & tv show reviews. And that’s about it!

Double Chocolate Chip Muffins Recipe

Every one loves chocolate. Well, almost everyone. And muffins are one of the best coffee time snack. Whether at breakfast, a 11 am pick me up coffee in your favourite cafe or an evening cup – muffins are a big favourite. Double chocolate chip muffins The muffins are incredibly rich, mega chocolate-y, and loaded with chocolate chips in every single bite.

  • 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour (spoon & leveled)
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (41g) unsweetened natural cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 and 3/4 cups (315g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 3/4 cup (185g) full fat sour cream or plain yogurt, at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) vegetable oil*
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) whole milk, at room temperature
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

    1. Preheat oven to 425°F (218°C). Spray a 12-count muffin pan with nonstick spray or use cupcake liners. This recipe yields about 14 muffins, so prepare a second muffin pan in the same manner or bake in batches and reserve leftover batter at room temperature for when the first batch is done.
    2. Whisk the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, salt, and chocolate chips together in a large bowl. Set aside.
    3. Whisk the eggs, sour cream, oil, milk, and vanilla extract together until combined. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and fold together with a rubber spatula or wooden spoon until completely combined. (Batter is quite thick, so I recommend a spatula or spoon over a whisk.) Avoid overmixing. The batter will be thick and sticky.
    4. Spoon the batter into liners, filling them all the way to the top. Bake for 5 minutes at 425°F then, keeping the muffins in the oven, reduce the oven temperature to 350°F (177°C). Bake for an additional 15-16 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. The total time these muffins take in the oven is about 20-21 minutes, give or take. (For mini muffins, bake 13-14 total minutes at 350°F (177°C) the whole time.)
    5. Cool muffins for 10 minutes in the pan, then transfer to a wire rack until ready to eat.
    6. Cover leftover muffins and store at room temperature for 5 days or in the refrigerator for 1 week.

West Ham United 1 Arsenal 2

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said it was the sign of a big team to be able to win ugly as the Gunners beat West Ham at London Stadium to reclaim fourth spot in the Premier League. The Gunners knew only a win would lift them back into the Champions League places after Tottenham beat Leicester earlier in the afternoon, but Mikel Arteta’s side responded by grinding out an important three points. It was Arteta’s centre-backs who came up with the goods, with Gabriel Magalhaes nodding the winner early in the second half after Rob Holding had opened the scoring from Bukayo Saka’s 38th-minute corner.

Jarrod Bowen did pull the Hammers level just before the break, controlling Vladimir Coufal’s cross and squeezing a strike into the bottom corner in what was a reward for a strong first-half performance. But David Moyes’ outfit failed to reach those levels after going behind for a second time – and defeat leaves them seventh, three points behind sixth-placed Manchester United with three games remaining. The Gunners are desperate to return to Europe’s elite competition next season and Arteta’s side have enjoyed the advantage of having no continental football this term, meaning all their resources can be focused on achieving a top-four finish for the first time since 2015-16. West Ham’s only realistic chance of qualifying for the Champions League now is to win the Europa League – and Moyes’ team would be forgiven for having one eye on overturning their 2-1 deficit in the semi-final second leg against Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany on Thursday.

Arsenal struggled to get a foothold, though, before Eddie Nketiah’s clever run and low shot forced a corner, from which Holding climbed highest to head in Saka’s delivery for his first Premier League goal. Bowen’s smart finish pulled the Hammers level on the brink of half-time. But, after the hosts failed to properly clear a corner, Gabriel was left unmarked at the back post to head in Gabriel Martinelli’s 54th-minute cross, beating former Arsenal stopper Lukasz Fabianski at his near post. Nketiah could have sealed the success on the break, only to curl wide, but the 22-year-old continued to prove a threat after again being trusted to lead the line for Arsenal. The visitors were not at their fluent best, but as the battle with north London rivals Spurs hots up – and with the Gunners heading to Tottenham a week on Thursday – restoring their two-point advantage was the most important outcome for Arsenal.
