Southampton FC 1 Arsenal 1

Premier League leaders Arsenal dropped points for only the second time this season as Stuart Armstrong’s second-half equaliser earned Southampton a hard-earned point at St Mary’s. Armstrong finished off a flowing team move involving Adam Armstrong and Mohamed Elyounoussi to stretch Saints’ unbeaten league run to three matches. Granit Xhaka had given the Gunners an early lead with his second goal in as many games, sweeping the ball first time into the roof of the net from Ben White’s low delivery. The effervescent Gabriel Martinelli had a shot deflected wide and Gabriel Jesus was denied by Southampton goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu as the visitors threatened to double their advantage before the interval.

Ralph Hasenhuttl’s team improved in the second half but needed a superb last-ditch challenge from Elyounoussi to deny Jesus, who had broken clear of the Southampton defence. Martin Odegaard thought he had put Arsenal back ahead not long after Armstrong’s equaliser, but the Norwegian’s effort was disallowed after the ball had gone out of play in the build-up. The result leaves Mikel Arteta’s team two points clear of second-placed Manchester City, while Saints stay in 15th – three points clear of the relegation zone. The Gunners suffered a 1-0 defeat at St Mary’s last season, but after taking an early lead on the south coast they appeared on course to claim a 10th league victory of the campaign. Odegaard flashed a shot wide from Xhaka’s pass inside 10 minutes, but the Switzerland international made no mistake from White’s accurate right-wing cross not long afterwards.

Southampton improved as the half wore on but Arsenal, who had won their previous 18 Premier League games after opening the scoring, continued to pose the greater threat in the final third and went close to adding to their lead through Martinelli and Jesus. Jesus’ failure to get his shot off before Elyounoussi’s goal-saving challenge proved costly, as Southampton rallied to claim a deserved share of the spoils courtesy of Armstrong’s composed finish. There were few complaints from the visiting players when Odegaard’s powerful finish from Kieran Tierney’s cut-back was chalked off, with replays clearly showing the ball had gone behind before the Scotland full-back could wrap his foot around it. The stalemate is Arsenal’s first in 28 Premier League matches – since a goalless draw at home to Burnley back in January.

Yet Another 3 Day Weekend Thanks To Diwali

We got another 3 day weekend people, woohoo!!! Well I had some plans for this 3 day weekend bu the stupid elevator in my building has played spoilsport. The elevator has been down for 2 weeks now if you included today. It took them a week to diagnose the issue, realized parts need to be replaced as well as wiring, found out that parts had to be shipped here from who knows where and that they could start work only this Tuesday.

So they did and they finally have finished it late this evening. However they do need a few more things to be done but tomorrow is Sunday and Monday being Diwali, it is a public holiday. Hence they will be back only by Tuesday. Tuesday the final things can be done and we can ask them to close the case. Hopefully we will not need them anymore for a few years other than quarterly maintenance checks. I will have to buy some food and drinks tomorrow.

Monday I am planning on going to get a haircut and finally perhaps some beer. I called my cousin this morning, who wanted to hang out tomorrow but I told him I wasn’t sure about the elevator and also I was battling a bad cold. I am all better now so I will try to meet him on Monday if the bars will be open. Otherwise I still have to get a haircut and maybe some lunch outside in a restaurant. I am aching for some time away from the home.

Do I Have Any Rituals That Give Me Comfort?

Do you have any small rituals that give you comfort? What are they?

I won’t call them as rituals but they are almost like them. My morning coffee is a very important thing for me. Getting that first cup and bringing it over to my bedroom and placing it on the coaster I have just for that, going online and checking Facebook and watching the day’s first Youtube videos from my subscription list – that is an enjoyable feeling and also part of getting myself awake and ready to face the day.

Other than that I do not have any rituals. I do day dream a lot and those day dreams are part of my survival tactics in life. Perhaps other things could be considered as rituals – like listening to some of my favourite music and letting the sounds envelop my body and senses and getting lost in the notes and lyrics. If that isn’t some kind of ritual, I don’t know what else is.

Having thought about it a bit more perhaps when I go to bed at night I have this ritual. I check on my parents – if they are asleep then I don’t disturb them. Usually my mom stays up late, watching tv and then on her phone she watches videos. I check on them and then get my bottle of water filled, keep my bed ready and watch tv until I need to sleep. Then I drift off in my dreams and fantasies as sleep takes over me.

What A Futuristic World Has In Store For Pets & Pet Owners

I really hate the circle of life and death. Which is why in the fictional world I have created, much in the future where science and technology is so advanced that we have eliminated poverty, thirst, hunger, homelessness and all accidents and diseases as our technology helps us to avoid them no matter what. In this fictional world I imagine it is a few 1000 years later. Now, I have talked about humans, but what about dogs & cats or other pets?

The way I look at it, the death of a beloved pet can be equally as devastating as that of a human loved one, sometimes more. And when I say more it is because they love us unconditionally and they can’t speak to us to tell them that they are ill or in pain and when they pass away, it always breaks our hearts. So in this fictional world, that is not a problem. When someone gets a dog or a cat, the first thing is a device is inserted into them so they understand most of your commands. Like to stay back as it is dangerous or don’t stray out of our yard. You know, just those kind of things. So that puppies & kitten don’t get lost or run away by accident.

Also they can tell us when they feel ill so we can administer the medicine to fix them up. Oh and they live a lot longer, much longer so yay! So bring home the cat and dog and make them part of the family. When they are young you can place them in specialized bed that are almost like cribs and with a technology built in to make them sleep the whole night through without waking you up. Also toilet training them will be a breeze and they also won’t eat anything that you have not designated as their food due to this advanced technology that imprints your commands onto their brains. Also based on the age of the owner, the pets will also live as long as you do.

Some Facts About The 2022 World Cup & The 6 Groups

The biggest sporting event on this planet, the World Cup, is almost upon us. The FIFA World Cup 2022 will be held in the Middle East for the first time in history and Qatar is the host country of the competition. The Middle East’s most iconic nation will host a month-long carnival with the tournament starting in the winter of 2022.  This 2022 edition of the competition will be the first winter world cup in the Northern Hemisphere. Initially, the world cup usually took place in the summer in the southern hemisphere as this is the time in which the region experiences winter conditions. Still the temperature during the day will be high and therefore all eight stadiums will be fully air-conditioned, providing fans with a comfortable viewing experience.

However, things get tough when it comes to Qatar. Located in the Middle East, Qatar experiences extremely high temperatures that can reach up to 50 degrees celsius. Under such conditions, hosting any kind of world cup is almost impossible. The 2022 World Cup will start on November 21, 2021 and end with the final scheduled for December 18, 2021. Another interesting fact about the upcoming 2022 world cup in Qatar is the amount the host country is spending in preparation for this event. As per estimates, Qatar spent 200 billion US dollars on infrastructure projects which include the construction of stadiums, roads, hotels and so on. This will make the Qatar World Cup one of the most expensive world cups in history.

Another unique fact about the upcoming world cup in Qatar is the number of stadiums. Only eight stadiums are prepared by Qatar to host FIFA 2022 which is the lowest number of venues for a world cup in recent years. In fact, of the eight venues selected to host the tournament, only one was completely renovated while the other seven were built from scratch. Since the size of this country is very small, traveling from one place to another here is not a big problem. Host cities such as Doha, Lusail, Al Wakrah and Al Rayyan are located close to each other. Therefore, moving from one place to another will not be a big problem for travelers.

1992

1992 had big shoes to fill – 1991 saw many amazing debuts and awesome albums and it was massive. While the albums released the following year didn’t quite match up, I still think they had some fantastic releases in their own right. Some of which are among my favourites. Including my second favourite Iron Maiden album and a couple of debuts. The big one from Maiden, Fear Of The Dark, which was the last with Bruce Dickinson on vocals until 2000’s Brave New World (which incidentally is my favourite of theirs). Another big one was Countdown to Extinction the fifth studio album by American heavy  metal band Megadeth, released on July 14, 1992, containing some of their biggest hits.

On the Grunge side of things Alice in Chains released their second LP, Dirt and it was massive while Nirvana came out with Incesticide. Another major album was Angel Dust, Faith No More’s biggest selling album. Def Lepard’s second biggest album, their first after the death of guitarist Steve Clark, Adrenalize was another major hit for the British greats. Two awesome albums from the alternative side of rock was Blind Melon’s self-titled debut and Ugly Kid Joe’s debut LP (following their record breaking EP that was released the previous year) As Ugly As They Wanna Be also came out this year. Short lived Supergroup of sorts Damn Yankees released their second and final album Don’t Tread with equally catch tunes. Extreme released III Sides To Every Story their much awaited 3rd album and follow up to the massively successful sophomore effort, wgich didn’t do that well commercially but still has some great songs.

After a gap of 4 years Bon Jovi released their 5th album Keep The Faith with some epic singles. It was also their last album with the now late bassist Alec John Such, who was dismissed 2 years later. Joe Satriani released The Extremist his fourth studio album on July 21, 1992. Saigon Kicks popular The Lizard also came out this year, while pop-rockers Fire House put out their 2nd second studio album Hold Your Fire. It is his second most popular album. Weird Al Yankovic released his magnus opus Off The Deep End, his 7th overall. In the Blues world Eric Clapton released Rush the soundtrack to a movie, while his friend Robert Cray released I Was Warned, which was my introduction to his music. The late Jeff Healey released his 3rd album Feel This. Carlos Santana & band put out Milagro, while The Black Crowes released their second album The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion.  Thrash metal monsters Pantera released Vulgar Display of Power. Yngwie Malmsteen released his 6th album Fire & Ice (and the first I ever owned of his).

Progressive rockers Dream Theatre came up with Images And Words, their second album, commercial breakthrough and the first with current vocalist James LaBrie. Canadian rockers released Fully Completely which was their 3rd album, filled with fan favourites. REM released Automatic For The People, their highly awaited follow up to their big breakthrough of 1991 Out Of Time. Soul Asylum released their breakthrough Grave Dancers Union while former GnR member Izzy Straddlin released his first solo album Izzy Stradlin and the Ju Ju Hounds. while Neil Young released the delightful Harvest Moon.

Recluse or Hermit? Take Your Pick!

Are you putting any parts of your life on hold? If so why?

I haven’t gone out much in a year. Even before that I haven’t gone out much so that would be about 1.6 years or so. There was that one visit to cut my hair and have lunch with a couple of beers with my cousin back in February. Other than that I have only been out for hospital visits. Speaking of haircuts, I badly need a haircut now.

Yeah I am balding so I don’t get my hair cut more than a couple of times a year! Sue me! It’s a nice evening today, so I guess I will listen to some music. Back to the question/prompt at hand. My social life is almost zero at this point, unless you add social media and chats and replies. I haven’t been to see relatives or friends with that lone exception. My sister and niece do come frequently to see my parents and I. A couple of cousins have visited on their vacation to India from the Gulf. And that’s about it.

I have a 3 day weekend coming up and I hope to go out on the Sunday and get some beer and lunch at a bar. I also need that haircut. Things have become so comfortable staying indoors that I have taken it for granted that I will stay in and have everything delivered to me. I must change that or else life will be very boring indeed.

Two Day Vampire Shift Done, Now Two Days Leave

The last two days and for the most part today as well have been tough on me physically. That’s because after a long time I did the 9:30 pm to 6:30 am shift. It was just for two days but man am I tired and even though I got enough sleep I am tired and sleepy. I feel like I could fall asleep at any moment from the time I woke up.

So Monday I didn’t really sleep during the day after the weekend to keep me fresh. I just rested by watching a movie in the afternoon and then closed my eyes and relaxed till almost 6pm. I then got coffee and some biscuits and then took a shower. I waited till 9 pm when we had dinner and then I got ready for work. I took the day’s sessions and worked on my reports. I had a coffee and a banana at 3:30 am and at 6:15 am I closed the training link and went to make some breakfast, which was chapathi and peanut butter.  I ate that in my room and then watched a bit of tv before falling asleep.

I woke up at 12:45 pm and had some water and coffee. I washed my face and brushed my teeth. I went online and then had lunch at 2pm. At 2:45 pm I napped for a bit and watched more tv till 6pm. Showered and got ready after coffee. Attended a quick call at 8 pm and then had dinner and got ready for the final day of that particular training batch. I ended up only drinking water throughout the night and felt pretty good until 5 am. I managed till 6 am and then got breakfast ready before sending the batch home at 6:20 am. I had my food and then watched a bit of tv before falling asleep by 7:30 am.

The rest of the day has been brutal so I am gonna try and get an early night in and sleep for a few extra hours. I have taken two days off for personal reasons and will be away from my work desk for the duration. Let’s hope I am rest and ready for more on Friday.

Five Benefits Of Eating Raspberries

They’re Low in Sugar

Raspberries are also one of the lowest-sugar fruits, at just 2.7 grams per 100-gram portion, per the USDA, compared to about 13 grams in one small apple. This makes them a great option for anyone with a sweet tooth who wants to minimize their overall sugar intake.

They’re Rich in Anti-aging Antioxidants

Raspberries are antioxidant powerhouses with their high vitamin C content. According to the Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH), studies show that higher intakes of antioxidant-rich fruits such as raspberries are associated with a lower risk of chronic stress-related diseases like cardiovascular diseases, cancer, and deaths from all causes.

Free radicals can cause “oxidative stress,” a process that can trigger cell damage. But, in laboratory experiments, antioxidant molecules have been shown to counteract oxidative stress caused by free radicals.

Raspberry antioxidants also help reduce inflammation, a known trigger of premature aging. The natural protective substances in raspberries are also linked to better DNA repair and blocking enzymes that trigger arthritis pain.

They Can Protect You From Cancer

Raspberry antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds are associated with cancer protection by reducing the reproduction of cancer cells. Raspberries are among the few plant foods that provide a source of ellagitannins and anthocyanins, according to a 2016 study in Advanced Nutrition.

Raspberries Are High in Fiber

Raspberries are among the highest whole food sources of dietary fiber, providing 6.5 g/100 g according to the Advanced Nutrition study— a third of the daily minimum goal. That fiber also contributes to fullness, blunts blood sugar by slowing digestion, and supports good digestive health, per the National Library of Medicine’s Medline Plus.

Raspberries Sharpen Your Brain and Memory

As noted above, raspberries help counter oxidative stress, which is essentially an imbalance between the production of cell-damaging free radicals and the body’s ability to fight off their harmful effects. Because oxidative stress is a causative factor in diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, raspberries are a top brain-supporting food. The flavonoids in berries have also been shown to help improve coordination, memory, and mood, according to Harvard Medical School.

Six Amazing Facts About Andorra

Andorra doesn’t have an airport. One of the craziest facts about Andorra is that it’s among the few countries in the world which don’t have an airport. And since it doesn’t have a coastline, you can reach Andorra only by land from France or Spain. If you want to explore the tiny principality, the best way to do so is on a day trip from Barcelona to Andorra. The nearest international airports are in Barcelona, Spain and Toulouse, France.

Andorra is microscopic. It’s the 16th smallest country globally by area, the 11th smallest by population. In terms of land, Andorra is just 181 sq. mi (468 sq. km). This makes it 3.3x smaller than London or 1.66x tinier than New York. You can get from one end of the country to the opposite in less than an hour. To drive across Andorra, you’ll only need to cover 25 mi (40 km). The ride takes around 50-60 minutes because it meanders around the craggy mountaintops.

Andorra is the only co-principality in the world. A principality is a state that’s ruled by a prince. An example of a principality is Monaco. However, Andorra is not a principality but a co-principality. Why? Because two princes rule the country together. The following might be the craziest fact about Andorra: neither of them was born in the tiny country! One of them is the French president. The other one is the Bishop of Urgell, Spain. Currently, they are Emmanuel Macron and Joan Enric Vives Sicília.

Andorra is the only country in the world, which has Catalan as its official language. Catalan is spoken in several regions of Spain, in a few spots in France, and on the island of Sardinia. But the only country that uses Catalan as its official language is Andorra.

Andorra is a heaven for retail trade. Due to the low or nonexistent taxes and the lack of customs duties, the country turned into an important international center of retail trade. Every year, it attracts millions of shoppers from Europe and beyond. Ever wanted to go nuts on shopping? Well, that’s one of the best things to do in Andorra.

The country receives the most tourists per capita in the world. This is one of most surprising facts about Andorra. Over 10 million tourists visit the tiny 77,000-people country every year. Most of them are either French or Spanish citizens. They travel to Andorra for duty-free shopping or to visit the country’s magnificent resorts. Another mind-blowing Andorra fact is that tourism comprises 80% of the total GDP!

Leeds 0 Arsenal 1

Premier League leaders Arsenal held on to win at Leeds in a dramatic finish after the match had been delayed by about 40 minutes because of a power outage. There was drama in stoppage time when referee Chris Kavanagh sent off Arsenal’s Gabriel for kicking out at Leeds striker Patrick Bamford and awarded the hosts a penalty, but both decisions were overturned after Kavanagh reviewed the incident on the pitchside monitor. Earlier, he halted the match after 23 seconds of play because of a power cut at Elland Road, which meant Kavanagh lost communication with the video assistant referee (VAR) officials, while goalline technology was down too.

Once they got going again, the impressive Bukayo Saka scored the winning goal in the first half by punishing Rodrigo’s loose pass, exchanging passes with Martin Odegaard before smashing in high at the near post. Bamford was sent on at the start of the second half and the Englishman almost made an immediate impact but his close-range strike was ruled out for a push on Gabriel. Before the stoppage-time controversy, Leeds were awarded a penalty when William Saliba was adjudged to have handled the ball, but Bamford dragged his effort wide.

Leeds piled on the pressure and Luis Sinisterra’s goal-bound shot was blocked by Gabriel, while Brenden Aaronson’s arrowed strike from long range was pushed away by Aaron Ramsdale. Mikel Arteta’s side are now four points clear after making a highly impressive start to the campaign which has seen them collect nine victories from 10 Premier League games. Arsenal’s only blemish this season has been a defeat at Manchester United and the Gunners showcased their mettle by somehow holding on for victory. It wasn’t without controversy though and they rode their luck in the second half. Bamford, who replaced Rodrigo, saw a couple of efforts saved by Ramsdale, as well as sending his penalty wide.

In stoppage time, it looked as though he would get the opportunity of a reprieve when Kavanagh showed Gabriel a red card for kicking out at Bamford, but after consultation with VAR decided the striker had pushed the defender first. Leeds had plenty of chances with the lively Luis Sinisterra drilling wide and seeing a low shot tipped wide by Ramsdale. From the resulting corner, Pascal Struijk’s poked effort was clawed out by the Arsenal goalkeeper. Ultimately, the home side could not find a breakthrough, increasing the pressure on boss Jesse Marsch as his side’s winless run extended to six games.
