Meeting Friends
The last few weeks have seen me spend some time with friends but not as much as I’d like to. In April we have a really nice & fun get together on the 9th which created a lot of fond memories for me. From that day onwards me and another former colleague have been trying to find a suitable date to get all 10 of us to meet together for the first time since 2007 and it hasn’t worked till now. How hard can this be? May 1st was the deadline as 4 of them now live/work in different cities and they had some free days in the month of April but had to get back to their places on May 2nd. We planned, found a good venue close to everyone but one by everyone begged to change the date and it was just 3 of us who could make it. So cancelled/postponed.
We all felt bad & sad that it could not happen and made vague promises of meeting some other time. I know it’s gonna take time and who knows when it will happen. Two other similar events, with different people, got postponed and pushed and I dunno when they will take place. It’s easier to meet up with 2 or 3 other people but when the group is large it can become a hassle and frustrating if you are trying to organize the event. I know I felt so let down in April when I couldn’t get everyone to agree to spend 3-4 hours of their time on the same day at the same time. But you know, these things happen.
Tomorrow I am supposed to meet up with 3 of my friends for dinner in a place nearby. It’s a nice place where I have been exactly once and I do miss these friends & former colleagues of mine. I hope it happens, I’m free and the other 3 also seem eager to meet up for a couple of hours. And Saturday my buddy Anil and I have plans to spend some time during lunch and perhaps get a few drinks as well. Got my fingers crossed.

I avoided watching this show for a very long time. Why? I dunno know – it has the deliciously, blonde goodness in the form of Kaley Cuoco in it! Apart from her I didn’t know any of the other cast and wasn’t that interested in watching any more sitcoms as most have let me down plus I really get annoyed when the laughing track gets stuck for no apparent reason at times! After having watched and loved a couple of comedy shows with no laughing track to prompt me to laugh at their jokes, I wasn’t sure of following a show where the laughing track treats viewers like idiots! But finally I had to yield – I happened to catch 3 episodes on The Big Bang Theory on cable and it’s filled with Star Trek references, so how can I not embrace this show? Plus it’s really funny and they have a Barenaked Ladies song as their theme song!
I like horror movies a lot. But I prefer the ones without all the disgusting overkill of blood, gore & guts spilling around all over the place. That is just gross. But I like a good scare.

Rachel Sexton is the estranged daughter Senator Sedgewick Sexton, a presidential candidate who is more popular than incumbent President of the United States Zachary Herney. But she is also an Intelligence Analyst who works for the NRO. The Prez sends her to the Milne Ice Shelf to validate the findings made by NASA – a meteorite which struck the earth around 190 million years and embedded within an are insect fossils very similar to, but not the same as, species on earth. NASA claims this as proof of extraterrestrial life. The President also sends four leading civilian scientists (Michael Tolland, a famous oceanographer and TV personality; Corky Marlinson, a brilliant but eccentric astrophysicist; Norah Mangor, a prickly glaciologist and Wailee Ming, a palaeontologist) to the Arctic to verify the meteorite’s authenticity as unbiasedly as possible.
Robin Gibb, of the Bee Gees, passed away yesterday following his long battle with cancer and intestinal surgery. He was 62. Robin was a founding member of the Bee Gees with his brothers Barry and twin Maurice. In 1994, the brothers Gibb were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame at the Grammy Museum. The third-born of five children, Gibb had one older sister, Lesley (born 1945), and three brothers: Barry (born 1946), twin Maurice (1949–2003), and Andy (1958–1988 ).
Like millions of other kids The Muppets were a huge part of my childhood. I don’t think they were shown on Indian television until cable tv was introduced and even then perhaps very little but I was lucky enough to catch the Muppet Show on Kuwait tv while I was living there. But it had been a long, long time since I had seen anything related to them, save for clips on Youtube and some odd stuff here & there. That’s why I was pleasantly surprise that they were doing a movie on the Muppets, a comeback of sorts.

Unforgettable is a crime/police tv series originally ran on CBS from September 20, 2011 to May 8, 2012. I’ve been following this series on the internet, watching episodes online or downloading them. How is this series different from the other cop & detective shows you ask? Well the series is focused on the lead character detective Carrie Wells (Aussie actress Poppy Montgomery) who has hyperthymesia, a rare medical condition that gives her the ability to visually remember everything. Yes everything from the age of 8 when her sister was killed, ironically the one event that she cannot remember much off but desperately wants to. After her sister’s death Carrie started to observe things and her ability to remember each details helps in solving cases.
Billed as a female Jason Bourne and the coming out/launch pad for the awesome Gina Carano
