Before They Turn The Summer Into Dust

This past Sunday the Grammy Awards were held in Los Angeles and a shock surprise win was the one for Album of the year. Amongst a lot of pop singers who will do anything & everything to ensure that they have atleast one attention grabbin headline in the papers, magazines & entertainment channels across the globe, a band – no make that an actual band, won the grammy for Album of the Year! Shocking news indeed!

Arcade Fire, an indie rock band who have had a fair amount of success, plays guitar, drums, bass guitar, piano, violin, viola, cello,  double bass, xylophone, glockenspiel, keyboard, French horn, accordion, harp, mandolin and hurdy-gurdy. Heck, each member can play more instruments than a 100 pop acts can possibly name forget actually play! The band takes most of their instruments on tour, and the multi-instrumentalist band members switch instrumental duties throughout their shows.

In the wake of their win at the Grammys (how dare they) Twitter has been filled with lots of tweets about how can such a unknown (debatable) band actually win a Grammy in the same category as Lady Antebellum, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Eminem. Many claim not to know or even heard of AF before and didn’t like them. Well jackasses now you know how we  felt when for all these years a bunch of no talent, only hype and unable to even write a single song hacks kept winning all those Grammys. I can remember when my cousins and I used to watch the Grammys with a lot of enthusiasm and enjoyed the music being played. I stopped watching the award show way back in the late 90s. But I paid attention to this little win.

I’m not a big fan of Arcade Fire. I like their hit single Wake Up a lot and I have a few more of their songs but that’s it. Their ok and all. However compared to any pop act, rapper and dance act – Arcade Fire rulez! Enjoy the song.

  1. Yahh Arcade Fire! I’m not a fan but happy to see a Canadian indie band who really enjoys music win the award. Thanks for dropping by my blog and leaving nice comments. The pictures you liked were taken by my friend Krista. I used them because I was really happy at that time.
