The New Priest At Mass

A new priest at his first mass was so nervous he could hardly speak. After mass, he asked the monsignor how he had done. The monsignor replied,

“When I am worried about getting nervous on the pulpit, I put a glass of vodka next to the water glass. If I start to get nervous, I take a sip.”

So the next Sunday, he took the monsignor’s advice. At the beginning of the sermon, he got nervous and took a drink. He proceeded to talk up a storm. Upon returning to his office, he found the following note on his door.

1) Sip the vodka, don’t gulp.

2) There are 10 Commandments, not 12.

3) There are 12 Disciples, not 10.

4) Jesus was consecrated, not constipated.

5) Jacob wagered his donkey, he did not bet his ass.

6) We do not refer to Jesus Christ as the late J. C.

7) The Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are not referred to as Daddy, Junior, and Spook.

8 ) David slew Goliath, he did not kick the shit out him.

9) When David was hit by a rock and knocked off his donkey, don’t say he was stoned off his ass.

10) We do not refer to the cross as the ‘Big T’.

11) When Jesus broke the bread at the Last Supper, he said, “Take this and eat it, for it is my body.” He did not say, “Eat me.”

12) The Virgin Mary is not referred to as ‘Mary with the Cherry’.

13) Recommended grace before a meal is not ‘Rub-A-Dub-Dub, thanks for the grub, yeah God’.

14) Next Sunday there will be a taffy-pulling contest at St. Peter’s, not a peter-pulling contest at St. Taffy’s.

Completely Unfair & Terribly Stupid

Tell us about something you think is terribly unfair — and explain how you would rectify it.

What is totally unfair is the prestigious status given to religions in countries such as mine. Religions – no matter if they are wrong on certain points, are harmful and just plain stupid on others – is treated as sacred and anything that contradicts them is considered blasphemous. Well, fuck you and fuck your religion and you gods/prophets! If you are wrong, you are wrong. The idiots who believe everything that their stupid books and priests tells them – you are pathetic! If they tell you that the sun revolves around the earth and the earth is flat – you will believe it! Not only that, you want the rest of us to believe in your nonsense and make it illegal to teach anything that contradicts them!

This issue is a big one. If not in check you will have half the nation filled with idiots who know very little of the natural world that surrounds them. They won’t be bothered to understand how things come to be, how stuff works or how to create new & better things. Everything is magic! The god of the gaps belief is perhaps the most stupidest and most dangerous thing ever – it makes people complacent and lazy and dumb! Nothing was ever achieved by belief in the god of the gaps concepts! Ah fuck it, it’s not even a concept, it’s just a cop out. I don’t know and hence god did it is about as dumb as you can get!

So kick out the unfairness and make truth the norm. I’m not even saying that we should ban or abolish religions. That does not work. Let the believe but religions should be on the same footing as a fan club. Because when you look at it closely that’s what it is – a fan club. The worst kind but still nothing more than a fan club at it’s core. Give it the same powers as the fan clubs for football teams or movie actors! And tax the bastards to hell! They owe a lot to the government in back  taxes as well. And put that money to good use. Take the money from the churches, temples and mosques and feed the nation!

TV Journalist Refuses To Cover Her Hair For Interview

Shared by Upworthy: When Sheik Yousuf Badri told Egyptian TV host Riham Said to keep herself covered during the interview, let’s just say she didn’t quite “obey” the man.

Let’s get this straight; she is a religious person, a Muslim woman. The religious leader had no problem with her uncovered hair when they spoke off camera but for the recorded interview he demanded that she cover her hair with the hijab. She does out it on but makes a point that it is a ‘charade” and she is not for it. During the topic on sexual harassment by priests who perform exorcism, the guy gets upset. She states her point – she would wear the hijab for her god but not for him – says what she feels about Badri and walks off!

1000 salutes to her for her bravery!

Exorcist Dies During Ritual

In one of the most bizarre & stupidest stories I  have heard in a while an exorcist in Sri Lanka was killed while performing a cleansing of a house that had “evil spirits”. Apparently this man, Maxi Castro, was called to perform this ritual just outside the capital city Columbo and according to the police, he sacrificed a cat and was then buried in a shallow grave after instructing onlookers to dig him out once he gave a signal of pushing a sword he was carrying through the ground. After 3 hours there was no sign or signal from Castro and no sword coming out of the ground.

This is when the onlookers decided to pull him out anyway, but he was unconscious. The 32-year-old man, identified by police as Maxi Castro, a local exorcist, was taken to hospital early Thursday morning but he had already died, the official said. The man had been requested to drive out demons feared residing in the home of a school teacher at the village of Pelanwatte. “I saw him perform a ritual like this at a temple six months ago and invited him to check my property,” the teacher, Wasantha Bandara, told local radio station Shree FM. “He said I had bad luck because someone had sprinkled human ash at my house, but he could drive out evil spirits through this ritual.”

Police spokesman Buddhika Siriwardena confirmed the incident and said an investigation was underway. Many in Sri Lanka, where 70 percent of the population are Buddhists, have faith in black magic, sorcery and exorcism, and place great importance on astrology. Important state functions are held according to the auspicious times chosen by astrologers.

If Animals Were Religious

If mice were religious they would pray to the Holy trio of “Mickey, Jerry & the Mighty Mouse”!

If dogs were religious they’d pray to Scooby Doo and the prayer would go just like you are imagining right now; “Scooby Dooby doo, where are you?” Religious dogs will also pray to Lassie, 101 Dalmatians, the Littlest Hobo and many others. Dogs are the pagan equivalent of the animal world.

Cats wouldn’t worship anyone but themselves. They wouldn’t worship other cats either, since each cat sincerely believes that the world revolves around themselves. They do have heroes like Garfield & now Grumpy Cat. And since the ancient Egyptians used to worship cats, they probably are gods.

Statue Of God vs The People’s Lives

Here is my addition to The Joker Mind loss meme, that I created last night!

This is my reaction to the floods is India. 34 people have lost their lives in my state of Kerala. Heavy rainfall in North India has caused damages to roads, destruction of buildings & houses. The torrential downpour has triggered devastating floods and landslides in the states of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. Other states and union territories affected include Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. As of 20 June 2013, officiate that more than 150 people have died but according to unofficial estimates thousands of people have died, with hundreds missing and thousands homeless. Damage to bridges and roads left almost 73,000 people trapped in various places. Many people are missing. As of 20 June 2013, the death toll in the worst affected state, Uttarakhand, was reported to be 150, hundreds missing and more than 60,000 tourists and pilgrims were stranded.

Yet most of what I see on posts on websites & facebook is  “Shiva’s statue washed away by heavy floods of the river Ganga! Thousands sharing the same stupid video!!!!

A Single Law….With Lots Of Implications

You have the power to enact a single law. What would it be?

Ahahahahaha (rubs hands in glee and has that evil look of power on his face) this is something I dream about. Ok, so if I had the power to enact a single law – just one – that has to be followed all over the world, which one would it be?

I would ban religion, no. But I’d enact a law that gives it the same power as that of any fan club. The same powers as a fan club of say a movie star or a rock band. Or like a community  for Star Trek or Star Wars or Stargate fans. A fan club – because that’s essentially what all religions are. Same for religious cults. Thereby stripping all the current power that they have in society and nullify any and all power that they have over politics and politicians. And thus they also have to pay taxes like everyone else. And no more space associated with churches, mosques & temples. All money & wealth will be confiscated and goes to the government. Better yet it will be distributed among the orphanages and the homeless & the poor families. Religious organizations will have to buy a building like everyone else in the usual family, apply for licenses to have a club / function held and pay for everything. Just like any other club or organization has to.

So religious organizations cannot run schools, colleges, hostels etc. Everything will have to be done by secular run organizations. No money donations pouring in they will have to be funded in the normal ways and no black money. Also any and all priests accused of crimes, especially of the sexual manner, will be investigated like normal people and put behind bars and fined if found guilty. And no clout to get them off scot free.

Let’s put all that excess money to feed, clothe & provide shelter to everyone and spend the rest on education & healthcare & science. And progress.

Don’t Know What To Make Of Them!

My cousin, who’s been living & working in Kuwait for the past 8-9 years, was in town for a visit. As we met at my residence on Sunday afternoon we talked about a bunch of stuff including his experiences in Kuwait. The Arab country suddenly woke up and realized that their land is getting too populated by foreigners. A nation of 2.8 million, only 45% of them are Kuwaiti! Just 45% while 35% are other Arabs (mostly Egyptian), 9% are from South & East Asia (mostly India and in particular from Kerala), while there is a 7% of Iranians and 4.8 are Caucasians from either Europe or the US. They want to change this and thus want to get some foreigners out. They are not going to trouble the Americans or Europeans so that leaves either the large number of Egyptians or Indians. Egyptians are Africans but still Muslim and so who does that leave? You guess it! The situation is even more dire in Saudi Arabia because well, it’s the Saudis, and some of it has been in the media spotlight here. As a former Kuwaiti resident of 11 years and heck I was born there, I am appalled at the nation.

So my cousin was filling me in about the subtle (ok not so subtle) ways that the Kuwait authorities are trying to make Indians leave willingly as they don’t want to force them out. So they do it by having separate laws for the forigners, especially Indians. You are now not allowed to help anyone even your friend or family by driving them to the airport or other places. The cops will stop you and accuse you of running an illegal taxi service. Unless ofcourse you can prove that they person or persons in the car with you are related to you. Hence people are carrying photos of their wedding and marriage licenses with them! I am not kidding; my cousin has his wife carry both when she takes the car out with her son, as well. People dropping their friends or colleagues are stopped, accused of running an illegal tax service and fined and maybe the car is towed away. Then there is random checking but only if you look like an Indian or atleast non-Arab. And heaven forbid if you have an accident in Kuwait now; if you hit a Kuwaiti’s car even if they are at fault, who knows what will happen. They are also restricting people in jobs like drivers, maids etc to only work for the initial company that hired them and are forbidding them to find other work. If caught, it’s instant deportation!

He was telling me, among other things about his experiences in Saudi where he has to go every 3 months for 2 weeks at a time for work. Religious police are everywhere and it’s a crazy country but then most us knew that. The religious police will go out in the street and  stop people in their cars during mosque prayer calls, making them pray. If you say you are not a Muslim, it doesn’t matter. You still have to stop everything and wait until the prayer is over. The same goes for when you are eating out in a restaurant. Although it sounds hilarious and we were both laughing our asses off! He told me stories of restaurant staff ushering out people in mid meals when prayer calls are heard. Just get out cause we have to pray and so do you! Also single men or men without women in their group, having a different entrance from families, ladies & children to the same restaurant and different seating. If you are a man alone and you go to where the families & women are, you are thrown out!

What a country!

Freedom Of & On Facebook

Facebook has recently come under attack for failing to enforce its own guidelines on hate speech and violent imagery. Is it a website’s job to moderate the content users post, or should users have freedom to say what they want? Is there a happy medium? If so, how would you structure it?

Ho ho, this is a topic that I seem to come against quite often and is discussed almost everyday among friends & acquaintances. I don’t think anyone reading this post will be unaware of Facebook. You may not have an account there due to either disinterest or maybe you can’t be bothered as you don’t have regular access to the internet or due to a job/work issue you have either chosen or been advised to get rid of your account. The rest of you will have one. Sometimes your cat or dog or goldfish will have one too!

I’ve always treated Facebook like this; what’s in my page is what I want to share. I don’t care who you are, you should not be bothered about it. If you don’t like what I post, there’s an unfriend button. Go on, press it, I don’t give a fuck. If you do defriend it, you weren’t worth it in the first place. I have had so called “friends” de-friending me on Facebook because of an anti-religious post I have posted. Usually it is a post that is a news article about the wrong doings of the priests in either Hinduism, Christianity or Islam and some believers can’t handle the truth. And yes since I hate religion and all it’s shit and all the fake gods and godmen & saints & fuckers that have benefited from these shameful religions I chose to report it. If you can’t handle the truth fuck off. You aren’t using your brain.

However hate speech is different. And people, please hate speech isn’t the same as criticizing the evils of a religious organization or religious people. If you want to see hate crimes just look at some of the religious fundamentalists in any of the religion calling for killing a person who has offended them by “insulting’ their dumb holy book, their stupid religion or their godmen/prophet. They have whole pages on them. That should be reported. Calling for the death, rape or injuring a person or persons, animals, organizations, places etc is not right. Making changes for the betterment of humanity by calling out immoral activities in the name of tradition, culture or religion is needed. That how we progress.

You may agree, you  may not agree.

Preacher Rapes & Kills Daughter, Goes Free

This kind of stuff really gets my goat. How the fuck does this kind of thing still happen? Fayhan al-Ghamdi is a Saudi religious scholar who had raped his five-year-old daughter in 2011 December and tortured her to death in 2012. Now the judge has ruled (last Saturday) – the father has been ordered to pay “blood money” to the mother following a short term in jail! And he is free to go about his life as he chooses to! What the fuck?

A statement released by the group said the man’s daughter, Lama, was admitted to hospital on 25 December 2011 having sustained multiple injuries including a crushed skull, a broken arm and ribs and extensive bruising and burns. According to the victim’s mother, hospital staff told her that her “child’s rectum had been torn open and the abuser had attempted to burn it closed”. Lama died in October 2012. Apparently her father doubted – listen to this – the girl’s virginity and thus abused her! Despite the brutality of the crime, the activists say a judge has ruled: “Blood money and the time the defendant had served in prison since Lama’s death suffices as punishment.” The group claim the ruling is based on national laws in Saudi that a father cannot be executed for murdering his children as husbands cannot be executed for murdering their wives. In the trial the father, who is a regular guest on Islamic television networks, reportedly confessed to using cables and a cane to inflict Lama’s injuries.

The judge ruled that the fine and the time that the man had spent in prison after his arrest were enough punishment. Islamic law specifies that the ‘blood money’ can be paid in lieu of the death penalty. Since the victim was a girl, the fine for the preacher, one Fayhan al-Ghamdi, was reduced to half the usual amount! Ghamdi confessed to the crime and said he used a cane and cables to beat his daughter up. The justification the man gave for this was that he doubted that his 5-year-old daughter, Lama Ghamdi, was a virgin. He also forced her into undergoing a medical inspection.

Banning Movies Due To Religious Sentiments

The idiots are at it again. The religious righteousness with their holier than thou attitude and their fragile egos & sensibilities in India have filed cases against two movies in India, both from the South. They have their knickers in a twist!

Romans a Malayalam comedy & thriller movie that was released less than 10 days ago and is about two jailbirds, con artists and thieves, who escape while being transported to a jail. They end up in a village at the Kerala – Tamil Nadu border, where they are mistaken for a pair of priests expected at the local monastery. The duo masquerade as priests, and reopen a church which has been closed for years, thereby winning over the villagers who mistake them to be priest sent from Roman (hence the title). A series of events that take place after their arrival bring about a change in their outlook towards life and society. For those of you who have seen the 1989 Robert De Niro & Sean Penn movie We’re No Angels – it’s basically the same plot. Even as the movie is running successfully and getting mostly positive reviews, a court  case has been made against the duo by the First Class magistrate of the Changanassery for showing the Catholic priesthood under bad light. The court has asked the police to register a case against these lead actors , the movie director Boban Samuel , producer Arun Ghosh and Bijoy Chandran and script writer Y V Rajesh   and investigate whether the writ presented by Adv Boban Thekkel complaining  about the movie holds any ground.

Across the border into Tamil Nadu, megastar Indian actor/producer/director for the past few decades & noted atheist Kamal Hassan, who has in the past made movies that were anti-theist in nature, has drawn flack from the muslim community for the content of his latest movie Vishwaroopam. due to persistent allegations made by Islamic organizations including the Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazagham have protested against the film, which they say ‘shows Islam and muslims in a bad light’. The release of the movie in Tamil Nadu has been pushed back to after January 28th, during which the ruling high court judge will have a special screening and then rule on the basis of the case against it. Some other places have delayed the screening of the film. However the film continues to run in theatres in Kerala despite protests from a section of Muslim organisations and there were some disruptions in certain parts of the state. This just makes me want to see this film and I just might break my 17 year fast of not having watched a single Tamil language movie from end to end!

A Ghost & Sounds Of Hell

One of girls in my office, someone I trained and guided to do her job, was telling me about ghosts in her hostel, which is a convent run by nuns and tells me “if there is a god, there must a devil and ghosts are powered by the devil.” Why must every girls hostel run by nuns or devout Christians have a problem with ghosts – I do not know, but I find that is the norm!

Anyways she went on about this ghost and how the nuns do some prayers to ward her off (why don’t do an exorcism?) and still she visits them on a regular basis, scaring the girls on stairways and bathrooms. I was laughing loudly and shaking my head for a lot of it.
But then she went on step further – she told me about the Sounds of Hell! What she told me was that NASA dug a huge hole in the ground and they could hear demonic sounds and the sounds of people being tortured – which the religious minded claim to be hell. I did a quick search and found out what she was being told by the nuns – The sounds can be heard here.

And this is the urban legend she was referring too. It wasn’t in Siberia, it was a hoax (obviously) and what the heck is NASA doing digging a borehole in Siberia????

Needless to say, I laughed so hard at her, that she got embarrassed and promised me to find out about the ‘myth’ herself!!!

3 Types Of Facebook Status Updates

The first type of status update is the religious kind. Teaching or preaching the word of god to the flock. Irrespective of which religion it is, there is an over all feeling of belittling oneself and lowering oneself to be a nothing without their god of choice. Is that all we are? A planet of playthings, muppets on a string for some imagined & make believe celestial body to toss & turn around with? Some of these posts are of a person throwing themselves at the feet of their deity and crying and saying that they unworthy but to please listen to their prayers and pleas. And worse is taking all credit of someone’s achievements and giving glory to a fucking god! And liking a particular status post / pic if they like Jesus or Mohammed or Allah or Ganesh etc etc. What about using a dangerously ill or injured baby or child or even a grown up and saying that for each ‘like’ and ‘share’ god will give blessings; or if that post reaches it’s target of a certain number of ‘share’ or ‘likes’ that ill baby will be saved!

The second kind is of the preaching kind, mostly related to religion. Showing up on certain days and telling us that we are sinners, we are wrong and that we should atone right now! And they will tell you the right way to do things. The right way according to whom? Some bronze age bigots & fanatics who couldn’t distinguish morality if it came and fucked them in the ass? No thank you. And worse, a tragedy is attributed to the wrath of a god because the person or persons who had the tragedy befall them did not believe in a god or worshiped the ‘wrong one’. Well since tragedy is unbiased and will happen to people of all caste, creed & religion I guess every religion & god are the wrong ones!

Status updates that I hate also is announcing the birth of their child and giving the credit to god. ‘By the grace of god we are bless with a baby…”. I mean come on! Is life so insignificant that everything is attributed to a non-existent sky daddy who is so interested in your sex life but does nothing to save the millions who are killed each year? Who demands your complete devotion and total obedience without explanation or questioning but hasn’t proved it’s existence or  that it is really responsible for everything in this universe and beyond, the creator and preserver? Please! I know some of you will not like this and have your own comments. Shove it, I am not in the mood to listen to your preaching. Besides I have heard it all before and you have nothing new to offer to the debate. I got the load off my chest and I am a bit satisfied now.

Another WTF Moment Courtesy India

In one of the WTF India moments, and believe me there are so many, the Delhi High Court has held the marriage of a minor girl valid, ruling that a Muslim girl can marry as per her choice at the age of 15 years if she has attained puberty. Making it easier for them pedophiles.

From the Indian Express:

“This Court notes that according to Mohammedan Law a girl can marry without the consent of her parents once she attains the age of puberty and she has the right to reside with her husband even if she is below the age of 18….,” a bench of justices S Ravindra Bhat and S P Garg said. Citing various Supreme Court judgements on the issue of minor Muslim girls’ marriage, the bench said “In view of the above judgments, it is clear that a Muslim girl who has attained puberty i.e. 15 years can marry and such a marriage would not be a void marriage. However, she has the option of treating the marriage as voidable, at the time of her attaining the age of majority, i.e 18 years.”

Accepting the 16-year-old girl’s plea to allow her to stay in her matrimonial home, the bench has disposed of a habeas corpus petition filed by the girl’s mother alleging that her daughter was kidnapped by a youth and forced into marriage in April last year. The bench accepted the girl’s statement she had left her parental home of her own will to marry the man of her choice and her husband should not be booked on the charge of kidnapping. According to the habeas corpus petition filed by the girl’s mother, after abducting the girl who had Rs 1.5 lakh on March 13, 2011, the man had telephoned her threatening to kidnap her other daughter if any legal action was taken against him.

The petitioner claimed that on March 19 last year she had also approached the Deputy Commissioner of Police and requested him to rescue her minor daughter from illegal detention. As per the petition, on April 14, 2011 an FIR was registered with Gokalpuri police station in north-east Delhi alleging that the man had kidnapped her daughter.

The mother said police had not taken any action, forcing her to approach the High Court. During the hearing of her plea, the court had issued notice to police and subsequently police had produced the girl saying she had voluntarily gone with the man and married him. Since then they have been staying as husband and wife, the police told the court. On April 18, 2012 the girl had also told the court that she did not wish to go back to her parents and wanted to stay with her husband.

So that’s one law for the Muslims and another for the rest of India. How stupid can this nation get?

My Attempt At A Rap Song

You know that guy who made a rap song & video about how he hate all religions but loves his homeboy Jesus? He inspired me to write the lyrics of a short rap song. So here it goes:

I don’t believe in religions but I love the goodness in people,
No churches, temples or mosques or buildings with steeples,
Love one another don’t hate; it’s a crime,
We all share one world in this space & time,

Differences in race and colour and borders and creed,
These are the things that were created by greed,
Fear & oppresion that’s what religions bring,
All me and my fellow atheists want is for you to dance & sing

You think less of your fellow humans so you created a god
“Holier than thou” cannot hide the facade
Of the need to control by fearing the wrath
Of a pompous, egomaniac ghost – who needs that
