ROSHAN’S ELEVEN: Rain Songs

With the onset of the monsoon, I can say goodbye to hot, sweaty nights and say hello to much cooler & windy nights & days and getting drenched a few times here and there. With that, I give you my 11 songs with RAIN in the title.

  • November Rain – Guns n’Roses
  • Crying In The Rain – A-ha
  • I Wish It Would Rain Down – Phil Collins
  • Paper Rain – Amanda Stott
  • No Rain – Blind Melon

  • Another Rainy Night – Queensryche
  • Tears In The Rain – Joe Satriani
  • Rained Out Parade – Wide Mouth Mason
  • After The Rain – Nelson

And before he says anything, Manoj sorry I could not add your life theme song It’s Raining Men!

Rather here is a live performance of Queensryche’s Another Rainy Night! Enjoy

  1. I can just imagine Manoj shaking his groove thing to ‘It’s Raining Men.’ LOL.

Hey, you forgot Garbage’s ‘I’m Only Happy When It Rains’ and the fabulous Ann Peebles doing ‘I Can’t Stand The Rain.’

    Love your list!

  2. I’m sure secretly Manoj gets jiggy with that song playing loudly! I haven’t heard the two songs you mentioned and I’m sure that there are other great songs on rain or raining, but these were the ones I have in my playlist.

  3. My groove thing shakes to many songs Selma ;-), least of all that song! I love the Garbage song, and I’m surprised that Roshan hasn’t heard of them yet, as they’ve been around for a while. Maybe because they are an American band with a Scottish lass singing lead vocals perhaps?

My initial comment, my dear cousin, was only going to be that whenever I think of Queensryche, the first song that automatically comes to mind is Silent Lucidity, as I absolutely love that song.

A couple of songs that you could add to that list:

    1. Have you ever seen the rain? Creedence Clearwater Revival
    2. Fire and Rain – James Taylor
    3. Tears and Rain – James Blunt
    4. A day without rain – Enya
    5. The Rain – Oran Juice Jones
    6. Here comes the rain again – Annie Lennox

Roshan – how could you forget the evergreen “Raindrops keep falling on my head” ?

Now, you’ve added “It’s raining men” as my “life theme song” ? If that’s the case, then yours is “YMCA” by the Village People, and I’ll add that as a child (until you were 20) you told everyone that your life’s ambition was to be the latest addition as a proper Indian! At 20 you stopped telling everyone, but the desire in your heart burned stronger than ever!

  4. I have heard of Garbage but they were never my scene. And what’s the fact that they have 3 Americans with a Scottish singer got to do with anything?

Queensryche’s got tons of great songs. I just love that band but they did lose a lot of steam post 1997 when their guitarist Chris DeGarmo left, he being their main song writer.

Never heard any of the songs in the list you mention but I am thinking of getting a best of CCR and will look up that song.

And yes I just had a ‘DOH! moment when you reminded me of Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head. That is a golden oldie.

And I love YMCA but the whole world does love them!
