Sens Update Jan 14, 09

Loss after loss after loss – our chance of entering the playoff race is looking extremely slim. Since the last update, Ottawa has lost to their hated & bitter provincial rival, the Toronto Maple Leafs, 1-3 and then lost in overtime to New Jersery the very next day. Then it was a 2-4 loss to Buffalo and 4-6 loss to Boston. Another two days later and we lost 0-2 to the New York Rangers. The last three games were within the same week and it was looking tough for Ottawa.

The match versus the Rangers was the first match at home in a while (8 games) and it should have boosted the Sens but it wasn’t so. Next came Carolina last night and the Sens needed the win. And they did, 5-1 and it must feel good. Five different players –  Heatley, McAmmond, Vermette,  Fisher & Phillips – scored goals on the night and 3rd choice goalie

poltergeist movie Brian Elliott made 23 saves in his second straight start for the Senators.
