Found this recent clip of former Big Sugar singer / guitarist Gordie Johnson doing an slowed down acoustic version of his erstwhile band’s single All Hell For A Basement. Somehow, I think the song was meant to be sung in this manner, thinking about the subject matter – a Newfoundland native used to the fishing industry, searching for a job, moves to the oil rigs in Alberta and feels like a fish out of water.
A true working man’s song and in this acoustic version, you can almost hear the working man’s weary tone is Gordie’s rougher edged voice.
I can’t find the music video for the original Big Sugar version but here is someone’s video about well testing in Alberta and he has used the same song as the background music. Check out the different versions of a great song.
