We left season one with councilman Darren Richmond shot and taken to the hospital and Belco is arrested by the cops. Richmond survives after being operated on but he loses the use of his legs as he is paralyzed from the waist down. He struggles with it and Jaime spends a lot of time with him in the hospital trying to help me get through this ordeal. Sarah Linden puts her plans on going to California on hold; she leaves the plans with her son immediately on learning that detective Holder had forged documents framing Richmond. Initially she avoids Holder believing that he is a corrupt cop but meanwhile, Holder learns that he was a pawn in a bigger conspiracy and his recent promotion to homicide detective may not have had anything to do with his police merits. The two regroup and plan to prove Richmond’s innocence.

The truth about Richmond’s location the night of Rosie Larsen’s murder was that particular night, he attempted suicide due to lingering grief over his wife’s death. He jumped a bridge but was rescued by a fisherman. As Richmond contemplate his political future and life as a paraplegic, stricken with guilt Gwen leaves for Washington DC to work for a senator friend of her father, but returned to help Richmond distance himself from the murder suspicion.

After the false arrest Jamie also steels Richmond’s campaign resolve by suggesting that the current mayor might be behind the false arrest. Richmond puts his campaign back on track and he gets a lot of sympathy support from voters. The Larsens are stunned by the developments and Mitch is particular is unable to stand it. She leaves for a few weeks, leaving Stan to take care of the boys with help from Terry. The older boy Tommy goes through a rough patch, acting out and getting in trouble at school which Stan reacts badly to. After a tense few days Stan has a talk with his son and they patch things up. The boys even get a new dog which helps them take their mind of the terrible things in their life.

Rosie’s bloodied backpack is found outside the Larsen’s house and this leads to a possible suspect in a young  man who’s father was killed by Stan on orders of his then mob boss. After being questioned by Holder & Linden, the boy is ruled out as a suspect but he ends up killing Stan’s old boss. During the questioning it is revealed that Rosie knew that Stan wasn’t her biological father. Meanwhile all clues leads back to the Native American casino which Holder & Linden stake out. The first time Holder creates a diversion in the casino floor while Sarah sneaks in. Holder is taken out to the woods and beaten severely while Linden gets back to the prescient and screams to her boss to get a search out for her partner. The police get a warrant to search for him and they finally find him beaten and have to hospitalize him. Linden then sneaks in once again, given a lead by a concerned staff of the casino – Rosie moonlighted as a staff in the casino and used to go up to an unfinished floor to view the city from there. Sarah searched & finds a keycard stuck in the boards but is beaten and lands up in a psychiatric ward on the grounds that she tried to kill herself at the casino.

With Holder’s & her ex-fiance’s help, Linden is released and they two finally get some backing by their chief to search the unfinished floor – and they find the keycard. At city hall they find that the keycard belongs to the Richmond campaign. All eyes are on the killer being either Gwen or Jamie. Finally in a stunning season 2 finale, it appeared that Richmond’s aide, Jamie, had killed Rosie after she stumbled onto a conspiracy involving Jamie with crooked real estate developer Michael Ames and casino boss Nicole Jackson. Holder shots and killed Wright when Jamie, after confessing, raised his own gun. Case closed? Nope. It turns out Rosie’s aunt Terry ultimately killed her, by driving a campaign car into a lake – not knowing that it was Rosie in the trunk. She thought it might lead her lover, Ames, to leave his wife. When Linden deduces this, we have a heart wrenching scene where Terry breaks down and tries to apologizes to Mitch & Stan.

At the end of the episode the Larsens move into their new house with their boys and new dog and try to start life afresh. They are given a video that Rosie made called “What I Know,” in which she expresses her dreams of traveling and love for her family. She had planned to leave Seattle and travel. As Holder & Linden sit in their car outside, they get a call for a new case Linden gets out of the car. Holder insists they got the “bad guy”. She asks who it was. He drives off, leaving her behind to stare at the Larsen garage, then she walks away.

Brilliant show with some good solid acting and a stunning end. I suggest you watch it and enjoy it for yourself. 26 episodes, which one could argue could have been made into a single season.

From the tumultuous ending of last season, we find Booth & Brennan in the UK to attend conferences. They are then called upon to help solve a case in collaboration with a pair of investigators from London. One of the investigators is killed and our pair must find the killers at all costs. Once back in the US, an explosion in an outhouse reveals a body left in the sewage and turns out to be a reality TV host with a long list of people that might want him dead and Booth and Brennan are left to narrow down the suspects. Booth’s son Parker finds a severed finger which the track to an illegal dog fighting ring. The owner of a dog, ordered his dog to kill the victim who was trying to expose the dog-fighting ring. Brennan is attracted to the dog, Ripley, and wants to take him away and take care of  him.

She gets a collar that reads “Ripley Brennan.” Booth has bad news: they put Ripley down. Brennan is saddened. “It wasn’t Ripley’s fault. People made him do what he did.” They bury Riley with an emotional Brennan saying a few words. Next case is of a mentally toubled scifi author during which they have to get Zack’s help. In the course of the case, Zack admits to Sweets that he didn’t kill the man he admitted to have killed – but he found out his home address and Zack only confessed because his actions led to the man’s death. He did kill him, but not literally. Sweets wants to tell Brennan right away but Zack stops him. Next the remains of a despised office manager are discovered in an elevator shaft and Booth & Brennan have to figure out which employee killed her. Next the find the remains of a female pastor who it turns out started life out as a man and had a sexchange operation before becoming a pastor. A corpse is found inside a crushed car like those used in car sculptures made by an artist named Geoffrey Thorne. Evidence leads to the art gallery where Thorne displays his work.

A superb episode in when a corpse is found on a plane in which Brennan & Booth are enroute to China and they must find who the killer is before they land. They then have to go undercover in a circus to find out the killer of a pair of performing cojoined twins. When Booth’s bitter hockey rival is found dead, he is a suspect so FBI Agent Payton Perotta joins Brennan in the investigation. Payton also joins Brennan to solve murder of the woman might be linked to the possession of an age-old prop of Excalibur from a famous French movie, when Booth is recovering from a bad back. Next the lab is thrown into immediate lock down when  an unknown substance oozing from the remains of a corpse they are cleaning and they realize they have only 24 hours to unravel the mystery before the bones disintegrate. Next the team discover that a dead pregnant 16-year-old high school volleyball player, and are shocked to find that nearly half of her teammates are either pregnant or already have had babies from the same father.

An image of the Virgin Mary turns out to be a bloodstain at a cardboard recycling plant Booth and Bones find a flattened body inside a compressed bale of cardboard. The line of suspects grows longer when the team discovers that the marriage-obsessed young woman had a fiancé as well as numerous boyfriends from a cell-phone dating service. Next an actual skeleton of a musician is used as a stage prop for a black metal band. When the head of Sachi Nakamura, the sister of Booth’s friend, is discovered in Washington, D.C., her brother Ken, a detective from Tokyo, flies in to aid the search for his sister’s killer. The investigation leads to an elite escort service, and the team must race against the clock when Sachi’s roommate is missing as well. A college is found dead in a mascot uniform. The season ends with Booth having an operation to remove a tumour in his brain. While in a coma he dreams all of the regular characters are seen living different lives. Booth and Brennan are married and own a nightclub called “The Lab”, but when a body is found at the club, Detectives Cam Saroyan and Jared Booth are called to investigate. However, not everything is as it seems. For example, Caroline Julian, who is a federal prosecutor is a defense lawyer, and Sweets is the frontman of the bandGormogon, who was a cannabalistic serial killer. When he wakes up from his coma he has lost his memory and does not recognize Brennan.

This season also sees Angela finally getting her divorce after a long tussle with her ‘husband’ but due to differences on having kids, Hodgins & Angela break up which is even more painful for Hodgins. Angela briefly begins an affair with a former lover, a woman artist. Cam adopts the 16 year old daughter of her former lover who died recently. And the team discovers the true identity of The Grave Digger, who almost kills Booth but is later apprehended.

Season 2 explorers Sookie’s relationship with Bill Compton while Bill also has to deal with his progeny Jessica, the 17 year old girl he was forced to make into a vampire. At the start of the season Eric Northman, the sheriff of Area 5, invites Bill & Sookie to his club as he wants to recruit Sookie to find his maker, Godric. Tara who has been forsaken by her mother (a jealous recovering alcoholic who wants to get back to Jesus & the church) is taken under the wings of the mysterious Maryann Forrester, a mysterious social worker. Maryann is actually an ancient maenad, a supernatural being devoted to Dionysus (Greek god), in search of a supernatural being to sacrifice as an offering to bring Dionysus back to earth.

Maryann introduces Tara to ‘Eggs’ Benedict Talley, a young man she also ‘rescued’ and the two begin a relationship. Meanwhile Sookie travels with Bill & Jessica to Dallas. Jason feels that he has been given a new lease of life and a sign from Jesus and joins the Light of Day Church, an orthodox & vampire hating group. There he is given military training and goes high up in the ranks of the group due to his abilities and because the church leader rev Steve Newlin has taken a liking to him. Jason has also seemingly had a good impression on Newlin’s wife Sarah and although he tries to avoid her affections, he finally succumbs and has sex with her. Lafayette is captured by Eric and kept in a dungeon for weeks but is later given an option to do business for Eric, of trading V, which the short order cook reluctantly accepts.

In Dallas Sookie agrees to join forces with a fellow human Hugo, who is the boyfriend of the vampire Isabel and pretend to be a newly engaged couple who are looking for a church to get married in. They pretend to be vampire haters and ask for a tour of the church & surrounding hoping that Sookie will be able to read their minds and find out where Godric is being kept. However at the church the two of them are trapped in a basement as they know who they were sent by. Later it turns out that Hugo was in league with the church members and had betrayed his vampire lover. One of rev. Newlin’s men attempts to rape Sookie but is stopped by Godric. After he helps Sookie leave the basement he reveals to Eric that he wasn’t being held captive against his will but he complied as he was curious about the church. Jason & Bill arrive to take Sookie back and in a brief fight the vampires win and leave with Jason & Sookie and bring Hugo to their Dallas headquarters. However the place is bombed by one of the church’s members who sneaks in and explodes a bomb strapped to him. A few people & vampires die.

Back in Bon Tempes things have gotten out of hand. Maryann finds pleasure in hosting giant orgies, creating mayhem and chaos and witnessing pure lust. She controls the actions of the inhabitants of Bon Temps by putting a bizarre spell on them, which turns their eyes completely black and has them do her bidding. She also has a history with Sam and wants to kill him as an offering to Dionysus as she is aware of Sam’s true nature as a shapeshifter. She has a fellow shapeshifter Daphne join Sam’s bar as a waitress and reveal her abilities to him. The two begin an affair but Daphen is only doing Maryann’s bidding. When Sookie & Bill come back to her house, they find it taken over by Maryann & her followers, indulging in binge drinking & eating and fornicating out in the open. Bill is unable to affect Maryann but Sookie seems to have powers to thwart her. Maryann has Sookie agree to be her maid of honour in her marriage to Dionysus on the threat that she will kill Jason, who is also under the spell. Sookie agrees and the town folks all go to search for Sam and bring him to be sacrificed. They succeeds in capturing Sam and Eggs slides a knife in his heart, but Bill saves Sam. Sam, shifting into a white bull, has Maryann believe Dionysus has returned to earth. Hence Maryann drops her supernatural shields and Sam, still in the guise of a white bull, is able to kill Maryann for good. After she is killed the town returns to their senses and have no memory of what they had done under Maryann’s influence.

This season also sees a blossoming romance between Jessica and Hoyt, a co-worker of Jason. And the storyline also features Bill’s backstory of being a solider who was turned into a vampire by Lorena with whom he had a long relationship before asking to be released by her. She wants him back and will do anything for it to happen. At the end of the season Eggs learns that it was he who killed 3 women and ripped out their hearts for Maryann and he holds deputy Andy Bellefleur at knife-point begging to be arrested. Believing it to be an attack, Jason shoots him dead but Andy wipes the gun clean and takes the blame himself and tells Jason to leave. And at a dinner outside of Bon Tempes Bill proposes to Sookie but while she is in the bathroom trying to find an answer, Bill is captured with a silver chain and kidnapped. When she returns, she finds that Bill is gone and the place is in disarray.
