Drinks & Tandoor Chicken With Anil

Anil and I made plans to meet this evening for a few drinks and dinner. We plan to have a similar meeting every month if possible. Anyways, we met for drinks at Couchyn this evening, made an early evening of it, and sat back on one of their lounge couches. We ordered a brandy and a vodka each before moving onto Kingfisher Ultras. Very poor tasting beer this Ultra. It’s also lighter than the usual stuff we drink here. We chatted for a long time as we relaxed there.

Post that we went to have dinner at Tandoor Restaurant. It’s mostly a family place and I remember going there with my dad, mom, sister and several other relatives many many years ago. I dunno why I haven’t gone there is so long, almost 12 years. I dunno if any f my cousins go there either. Anyway, we chose a table and asked for the menu. The waiter serves us water in this funny shaped glasses. Very cool no?

We ordered tandoor chicken, a full plate which is 4 big pieces and 2 butter naans. What you see on my plate in the pic below is one half of my naan and one of the two pieces of tandoor chicken I ate. Amazingly delicious and well done. I love tandoor styled food. Its not too oily and does not sit too heavy in your belly once you are done. We sipped lime juice and ate our food gratefully.

Once that was done, we left to our respective homes. I am satisfied and full. Good night and sleep tight!

Airplane Talk

The last time I was on an airplane I was 11 years old and yes I did chat with the person sitting next to me – my dad! Mom was sitting next to a lady in front of us and I was sitting next to the window as we headed from Kuwait, which was our home for many years (mine for the first 11 years of my life)back to India for good. I remember that trip very well which was preceded by a lot of farewell dinners and parties hosted by family friends, mostly Indians living in Kuwait, lots of tears from my folks and from our friends. I was quite happy to be going to India and was looking forward to be living in a big house where I had my own room and the promise of a dog as a pet if I was good.

I haven’t been on a plan since but for the first 11 years of my life I’ve traveled from Kuwait to India and back; every year coming home for the summer vacations to spend with my cousins and relatives. That was the norm as most Indian families didn’t want their kids to be idle in Kuwait during the long summer holidays and most working people also managed to get a lot of days off during that time. So summers were spent in Kerala and I enjoyed them a lot. I also liked plane rides, always got a window seat, always waited patiently for the airhostesses to come and ask what we wanted to drink and always asked politely for a coke.

I even remember one time my sister and I went to the cockpit and spoke to the captain and his co-pilot. That was cool and amazing. I must have been 7 or 8 at the time. I miss flying in planes, haven’t been in one since – that’s 25 years! Sheesh – have they changed much?

Dracula II : Ascension & Dracula III : Legacy

A few weeks ago I had posted a review of the movie Dracula 2000. The movie would spawn two sequels to it as a sort of trilogy about the depiction of Dracula in the modern era. In Dracula II : Ascension, after Dracula is thought to be killed, his body burned to a crisp, it is brought to the local morgue. Contrary to the ending of the first film (in which Mary Van Helsing explains in a voiceover that she had returned Dracula to London and assumed her father’s duties as Dracula’s keeper). A small group of scientists, led by their professor,  hope to use Dracula’s desiccated—but still alive—body to discover the secret of immortality. While examining the body, Elizabeth (Diane Neal) pricks her finger on a fang, which leads her to slowly become infected by Dracula’s blood. Professor Lowell claims a wealthy investor wants to fund their research into the mysterious corpse (which they initially know to only be of a vampire).

Father Uffizi (Jason Scott Lee), seemingly the Vatican’s official vampire hunter is hot on the trail of Dracula, ordered to not just kill him if found alive but to also grant him absolution and let him rest in peace. The priest was scratched by a vampire fang in a previous hunt. Each day he exposes himself to the sun, burning out the vampiric infection while he screams in pain. Luke (Jason London) and Elizabeth smuggle Dracula’s body out of the morgue and meet with the friends Kenny, Tanya (looking oh so good in a form fitting tshirt) Eric (who Lowell introduces as the investor) & Lowell. They dip the corpse in a bathtub filled with blood from which Dracula (Stephen Billington) awakens and turns Tanya.  Luke surrounds the now-awake (but severely weakened) vampire with folkloric wards like mustard seeds and knots. Elizabeth, meanwhile, feels increasingly strange as the infection in her grows, as does her attraction/bond to Dracula.

Kenny injects himself with Dracula’s blood, becomes a vampire and goes out to feed. He kills a woman, making her undead like himself. Uffizi finds and kills them both, then backtracks.  Lowell. There is no “secret investor.” Seeking a cure for his illness, Lowell has used Elizabeth and the others ruthlessly. An injection “cures” him but he survives mere moments before Uffizi arrives. Dracula, meanwhile has gathered his strength and breaks free of his bongs, kills Eric and attacks the rest of the group. Uffizi tells Elizabeth, now on the verge of becoming a vampire herself, to enter the sunlight. He says it will be agony, but the vampiric part of her will be burned away. Then he goes after a now-free Dracula. A fight ensues and his weakened state, Dracula is not quite a match physically for Uffizi. The priest manages to get a whip around Dracula’s neck and begins the rite of absolution. Dracula then taunts Uffizi with images of the betrayal of Christ as well as his crufixion. As Uffizi is about to deal the final blow, a now completely turned Elizabeth attacks Uffizi from behind and wounds him. She leaves with Dracula, who says he is letting the hunter Uffizi live because he knows Uffizi will follow and eventually find him.

Starting off immediately after the end of the previous movie, Dracula III : Legacy sees Luke finding a critically injured Uffizi and taking him to be treated. As he recovers the two have formed a partnership killing vampires and hunting Dracula. Five years later Father Uffizi and Luke discover that Dracula (Rutger Hauer) has returned with Elizabeth to his castle in the Carpathian Mountains. However the Vatican does not give Uffizi their blessing for the mission, fearing him to be tainted by Dracula. Uffizi gives up his priesthood and joins Luke anyway and goes to Bucharest. Romania has been devastated by a civil war,  and  NATO peacekeepers line the streets. In an abandoned village, Uffizi and Luke find a crashed helicopter containing a news reporter, Julia (Alexandra Wescourt), and her cameraman. The cameraman gets turned by vampire clowns but both he and the clowns are killed by Uffizi and Luke. The two leave Julia at the town and forge on but are soon lured into a rebel trap. They find Julia with the rebels, refusing to return to England with nothing but a story on vampires.

That night the rebel headquarters are attacked by vampires but Uffizi, Luke and Julia survive, proceeding to Dracula’s castle. There they find Elizabeth, almost totally turned to Dracula’s way of life, lying in a big room with several of Dracula’s other brides, indulging in blood orgies. Dracula mortally wounds Julia and tells Uffizi that only through God’s forgiveness can he truly die, but Uffizi engages the ancient vampire in a duel and ultimately destroys him by first biting him and draining him of his blood, then beheading him, announcing that he should consider himself forgiven. Meanwhile, Luke, on her request, beheads Elizabeth. Luke leaves the castle, while Uffizi sits on Dracula’s throne, Julia apparently revived as a vampire. The film ends with the implication that Uffizi, who has missed the morning purge of his vampiric curse, has become the new vampire lord.

I’ll watch anything that claims to have Dracula as a protagonist or if it features a story remotely connected about the great count. I like this trilogy but the 3rd movie is the weakest by far. I actually like Dracula II the best as the story is a lot more interesting and the plot is good. I’d give Dracula II a 7 outta 10 and Dracula III a 5 outta 10!

E-Annoyances

The kind that annoys me :

Email : Nigerian scam mails, UK lottery or some other kind of shit like a long lost relative or someone leaving you a bunch of money! Who sits and makes up shit like this? And sorry if I offend you but you have to have shit for brains if you fall for this. You are an even bigger fool if you think that someone is gonna fall for this. I also hate patronizing and fake mails from online shopping websites; “we were worried about you since you haven’t been purchasing from our site in the last 2 months”!!! Piss off! You miss my money. I’ll purchase when & if I want to.

SMS : payment reminders, alerts for sales & discounts and unwanted solicitation. Also ones from which I haven’t applied for and especially from my mobile service provider. A bunch of stuff I have had blocked but I still get from a lot of web based services. Other than that anything that relates to cricket, Bollywood movies/music, politics and religion! That’s it!

A Ghost & Sounds Of Hell

One of girls in my office, someone I trained and guided to do her job, was telling me about ghosts in her hostel, which is a convent run by nuns and tells me “if there is a god, there must a devil and ghosts are powered by the devil.” Why must every girls hostel run by nuns or devout Christians have a problem with ghosts – I do not know, but I find that is the norm!

Anyways she went on about this ghost and how the nuns do some prayers to ward her off (why don’t do an exorcism?) and still she visits them on a regular basis, scaring the girls on stairways and bathrooms. I was laughing loudly and shaking my head for a lot of it.
But then she went on step further – she told me about the Sounds of Hell! What she told me was that NASA dug a huge hole in the ground and they could hear demonic sounds and the sounds of people being tortured – which the religious minded claim to be hell. I did a quick search and found out what she was being told by the nuns – The sounds can be heard here.

And this is the urban legend she was referring too. It wasn’t in Siberia, it was a hoax (obviously) and what the heck is NASA doing digging a borehole in Siberia????

Needless to say, I laughed so hard at her, that she got embarrassed and promised me to find out about the ‘myth’ herself!!!

If…………………….

If I could do anything right now, this very second without hesitation is to get out here. This place, this time, this reality. 36 is more than enough. I want a new life. I have had enough of the one I have. I need a change. I need a break, I need a charge out of life!

If I could do anything I would change my life and get out of here. Especially get outta here. I would get a one-way tickey to somewhere else, a place where I could see myself living and be happy. I want to LIVE life rather than let it happen and have it pass me by! I want a place where I can have my favourite foods, drinks and beverages at arm’s length. I want to be able to hear my favourite kinds of music and my favourite artists visit the place that I live in, so I can go and enjoy seeing/hearing them live in concert. I want to be able to see all the movies that I want to see the week they get released. I want to be able to attend Scifi conventions where the actual film/tv series producers, actors and writers attend in person.

I want coffeeshops next to where I live. I want discount book stores & music stores on the same street that I live in. I want a great bar and a couple of great cafes near me. I want a weekend house near the sea side and near the mountains. I want a river flowing near where I live. I want birds chirping, lots of trees nearby and breeze blowing in at all times. I want pets – 2 kitties and 2 puppies! I want horses, I want eagles and owls. I want fish in an open aquarium. I want clean air, I want clean water. I want the woman of my dreams to share this life with me. I want lots of money and life a quiet life of contentment. I want peace and tranquility. I want good discussions on improving the human lifestyle. I want relaxation. I want a whole new life.

Arsenal 6 Southampton 1

Arsenal seem to have hit a stride with a 6-1 victory over Southampton producing a superb first-half display of attacking football to sweep the bottom-of-the-table club aside.  A Jos Hooiveld own goal opened the scoring before Lukas Podolski arrowed a 25-yard free-kick into the top corner. Gervinho then drilled in, and Nathaniel Clyne buried a second own goal before Danny Fox pulled one back. Gervinho grabbed his second after the break and substitute Theo Walcott then added a late sixth to leave Southampton still looking for their first point.

Many of the headlines emanating from the Emirates this summer concentrated on the loss of skipper Robin van Persie and Alex Song, but in Lukas Podolski and Santi Cazorla, manager Arsene Wenger has signed two players of genuine quality. Those two in particular were behind a glittering first-half display, with Southampton simply unable to cope at times with the movement and passing in the final third. Podolski’s goalscoring record in the Bundesliga was not always overly impressive, but his haul of 44 international goals suggested he would be a potent threat in the Premier League and he doubled the lead with a brilliant free-kick from 25 yards, giving Davis no chance.

Wanderlust

I’ll watch anything with Paul Rudd in it and yes anything with Jennifer Anniston in it. Cause Paul is a funny, sarcastic dude and Jennifer is……Jennifer. Directed by David Wain and produced by Judd Apatow, Ken Marino, Paul Rudd & Wain, Wanderlust is a 2012 comedy movie with some of that inappropriate comedy stuff that Apatow is known for and which I love. It didn’t quite work in this movie and although I did laugh out loud at some of the hilarious shit, overall it doesn’t quite work.

Rudd & Anniston play a married couple, George & Linda, who have just bought a really expensive and tiny micro-loft in Manhattan. George is expecting a promotion while Linda is trying to sell a documentary to HBO. Soon after purchasing their home, George learns that his company has folded, overnight, while HBO rejects Linda’s documentary. With both of them out of jobs and money going to be tight, they decide to sell the loft for a loss and go to meet George’s obnoxious and rich older brother Rick and his wife Marissa with the promise of a  job. On their road trip they decide to stop at a B&B Elysium, which is on a hippie community land. However spooked by a fully naked man, nudist Wayne, they reverse the car and promptly turn it over and have to stay at the B&B. They meet the various residents of Elysium, including Seth, Eva and Elysium’s owner Carvin. George and Linda spend the night feeling more alive than before. In the morning, everyone helps flip George’s car back so they can leave, but Seth urges them to consider staying.

The next day they leave for Rick’s house and George takes up a job in his brother’s company but gets angry one morning after a patronising rant by Rick and he takes Linda back to Elysium, where they are welcomed back. George is excited about the simpler lifestyle while Linda is hesitant. After a few days however, Linda starts feeling enlightened by the lifestyle while George begins having second thoughts. They soon find out that free love is encouraged although the couple reject it. At the same time, Elysium is being targeted by property developers to build a casino on the property, but they are unable to until they have the deed to the land, which Carvin misplaced. When the developers bring bulldozers to the property, Linda scares them off by flashing them and the other residents join her, making her a hero of the community. George then demands that they leave, saying that if they stay, they would have to give in to ‘free love’. Linda wants to stay and has sex with Seth. George is pressured to have sex with Eva, but he drives her away with his bizarre behavior. The next morning, George reaches breaking point, stating that he dislikes the rules of Elysium and wants to leave. Linda wants to stay, so George goes back to Rick’s house alone.

Seth decides that he wants to live separately with Linda, believing he has found a soul mate in her and meets up with the property developers and gives them the deed he found in exchange for $11,000. He plans to use that money to set u house in Florida with Linda. A child from the commune witnesses the burning of the deed by Seth and the man that wants to build the Casino. Seth tells Linda that he wants to go away from Elysium and that the others can look after themselves. Linda refuses. Later George realize he has made a mistake and goes to get Linda back. At Elysium he gets into a fight with Seth and Linda comes to her husband’s aid. The child that witnesses the burning of the deed by Seth tells the commune what happened and George punches Seth in the jaw. The ending of the movie shows that a copy of the deed is brought to the house by one of Carvin’s former partners and there is a reunion of his old friends. George and Linda start a publishing company, with their first book being a political thriller novel written by Wayne. The novel is then fast-tracked into a film adaptation starring Ray Liotta.

I loved most of the comedy and the ludicrous jokes and scenes – Rudd practising his “dirty talk” in the mirror is the highlight – but the movie just didn’t do that great for me. The movie flopped at the box office, unable to make back it’s $32 million budget. But it’s still good for some laughs. 7 outta 10!

Flashpoint – Season 1

I like cop shows, I’ve seen a lot of cop shows over the years. This one cold just be in my top 5 cop shows of all time. Flashpoint is a Canadian drama series started in 2009 and 4 seasons long and focuses on the lives of several operators working for an elite police tactical unit known as Strategic Response Unit (SRU),  based on the Toronto Police Emergency Task Force which is called in by regular police to resolve situations beyond their control. Although initially wanting to be an generic big city, the series is set in and acknowledges that it is set in Toronto. The series was created by husband & wife actor/scriptwriter duo Mark Ellis and Stephanie Morgenstern and stars Hugh Dillon, Amy Jo Johnson, David Paetkau and Enrico Colantoni.

The first season ran for 13 episodes (initially only 9 were shown in North America) but each are worth watching. The pilot episode is based on a real life incident in Toronto. The team is called to the case of a man holding a woman hostage, after having shot his estranged second wife at her place of work. The case becomes complicated when it turns out that the man doesn’t speak any English. The team tries to reason with the man by having a translator, but the man doesn’t seem to want to budge. It is unknown what the man wants, and when they think that he’s a danger to everyone, they decide to shoot him. Just before they are able to shoot him, a young man bursts towards the man, screaming “dada”—it is the gunman’s son, who tries to calm him down. It doesn’t work, however, and the team is forced to shoot him. Just as Greg Parker gives the order to shoot, the son runs in front of his father, but Ed Lane successfully shoots the father anyway. The woman he was holding hostage walks away in shock, not knowing why the man held her captive. This case would have repercussions for the team throughout the seasons.

A heartbreaking second episode is about a man who goes berserk when his young daughter receives notification that a donor heart is available only to discover that the heart is given to someone else because of a mix-up, he takes a hospital wing hostage, demanding that his daughter receive the transplant. He wants the heart for his daughter but in the end he is talked down by Sgt. Parker only for the older man who is to receive the heart say that he wants the little girl to receive the heart instead, sealing his own fate. The father must reconcile himself with the fact as he sits in jail. Next a group of undercover narcotics officers require the SRU’s assistance to help arrest a major drug dealer. The situation is complicated when an ex-junkie arrives in the dealer’s apartment, and an undercover officer at the scene is shot. The ex-junkie, a young man, shows a lot of courage when instead of taking the chance to run, he stays to help the cop and pays for it in the end with his own life, a victim of crossfire.

When an enraged family member takes a cop hostage, the team has to set aside its own feelings to resolve the situation. However, the tables turn when the hostage may not be who the team thinks. An infamous bank robber known as the Monday Morning Robber takes hostages in a bank when the police are alerted to his heist. Team One learns that he is not the Monday Morning Robber, but in fact a former employee who was laid off. Unable to care for his wife with Alzheimer’s disease, he seeks revenge against the person who fired him. Guest star Nicholas Campbell was nominated for a Gemini Award for this role. In the end the robber, George, chooses to trick a cop to shooting him so his death will pay off his life insurance to his wife. Tasha Redford is an awkward 16-year old with a chronically alcoholic mother, and who becomes the target of an intimidation campaign by a gang of local girls, led by Brianna Tulley, after she reports an attempted rape. When Brianna inflicts a vicious and humiliating “uglying-up” of Tasha at a local shopping mall, Tasha accidentally shoots one of the gang members. The SRU is called, and Jules chases Tasha to an outdoor advertising tower where she must talk Tasha down. A teenager escapes military school to save his younger brother from their abusive father, but when the father ends up being shot, the father’s reputation as a reputable lawyer may shift the blame to his son. The teenager uses survival tactics learned at military school to evade the SRU, and Parker must reach out to his brother before his increasingly dangerous methods kill someone.

A young man named Michael Jamison holds Ed and a courthouse employee hostage and demands to see the lead prosecutor who sent him for prison for rape and murder, a crime he insists he did not commit. SRU members try to safely rescue their colleague and arrest Michael without any losses by looking into the prosecutor’s conviction record, and discover that he had leaked details of high-profile cases to inmates in order to secure convictions. Team One is called in to lead the search for and rescue a young girl kidnapped from her home. While on the job they learn that one of the abductors is a teen girl who went missing herself eight years earlier and has been indoctrinated by her abductor not to trust the police. he SRU is assigned to a protective detail for a VIP and his wife at a business forum when a bomb is set off. They realize that the bomb is a distraction set off by a group of Chilean protestors so that they can kidnap the VIP’s wife. The kidnapping turns to horror when the wife is found alive with a remote-controlled collar bomb around her neck, with the Chileans demanding that the VIP confess to crimes at a mine in South America. A distraught wife (holds a woman hostage at knifepoint whom she suspects is having an affair with her husband in the couple’s suburban house. The hostage swears she is not involved with the husband, but the wife refuses to believe her and demands she tell her everything.

Danny Rangford, an SRU veteran locks himself in a room at SRU headquarters to commit suicide. Ed is called in to talk Danny down when it is discovered that he is Ed’s former teacher. Now retired from active duty, Danny feels guilty over the death of a young boy nearly 20 years earlier. The city is held hostage by a sharpshooter who takes control of city hall, and SRU is called in to end the stand-off. Team One learn that the shooter is deliberately missing his targets and that he has a grudge against Ed Lane. They learn the shooter is Petar Tomasic, the son of the man Ed shot at First York Plaza in episode 1, and who is a war-trained sniper in his own right. When Tomasic shoots Jules, Ed risks his life to capture him. The stand-off ends with Jules fighting for her life and Tomasic being shot by Sam.

Brilliantly shot, no over dramatics or over glamorization of the team. The series focuses on the lives of the 4 main characters – Parker, Lane, Jules & Sam – and the effects of being unable to save an innocent as well as post traumatic syndrome. Solid cast with both Enrico Colantoni and Hugh Dillion just amazing. Their guest stars are excellent too; some of the actors have played out career best performances in guest roles.

The Lure of Money

Hmmm, now that is a question. I’d like to think that there is a limit, of decency and honesty, beyond which not just me but everyone would not go beyond when it comes to doing something for a nice big fat check. That’s what I’d like to believe, though how true is it when some people are concerned? There are things that we might do in times of desperation and you really need that money but other than that, would you do it? I might do some questionable things just to save a loved one’s life, like a hospital situation and I don’t have the money for it and if this questionable thing comes up for a large wad of cash then I’d do it. But there would a limit to what we or I can do for money, even if there is a loved one’s life at stake.

What if it isn’t a case of life or death and just money related? A business venture? Something at work, a sale or a project to be closed? How far would you stoop to ensure that it went through? I am reminded about an episode of the tv series Traders in which a character, played by actor Peter Stebbings, is desperate for a project to be closed with a large sum of money to be made in the process. Something happens and the project is in jeopardy. Stebbing’s character rushes to the client’s hotel room and pleads for another chance to close the deal with the missing details added. The client says that the deal has to go through that night or else not at all. Stebbings is ready to do anything – and the client, a male, says that if he sleeps with him, he will go through with the sale! Stebbings’ character, although not gay, is desperate enough to agree and does have sex with the client. The next morning he is a hero at the office for the contract going through! But he is never the same again and leaves the firm unable to come to terms with what he had to do.

Would you kill someone for money? Rape someone? Cut someone up? Burn a house or some other building? Shit in public? Pee on someone? How low would you go? What is that line that you will not cross?

A Bit Of Shopping

I’m not a guy who really likes going shopping. I spend all of 30 minutes buying shirt – 10 minutes to select 2-3 shirts, 10 to try them on and see if I like them and they fit and the final 10 is paying for them and waiting at the check out line at the big store that I usually go to. I so don’t like spending hours and hours in store, unless they are music stores.

Anyways, I had a bit of a purchase these last two days. Went to Heels to buy a new pair of shoes. These were a bit more expensive than the ones I usually buy but I love them. They are so comfortable, the soles inside are so cushiony and so good for my feet. I love the feeling of my feet against them. They make me wanna dance, dance, dance!

From the same place I also bought a belt. Long belt for the big guy. Here it is all coiled up like a snake and ready to bite!

From ebay India I also bought a new optical wireless/USB mouse. The USB dongle is one of those really small, compact almost hidden ones that get tucked away on the side of your laptop or desktop once you stick it in your USB drive. I prefer those kinds.

There were many other models that I could have gotten and I was a bit confused as to which one to take. However most of the ones with the fancy lights or designs that I wanted had the big dongle and for lack of space I decided against getting one of them. This one is smooth, very sleek and looks absolutely cool. Works amazingly well too!

Have A Laugh

Buddhist Monk was driving in India when suddenly a dog crosses the road. The car hit and killed the dog. The Buddhist Monk looked around and seeing a temple, went to knock on the door. A monk opened the door. The first monk said: “I’m terribly sorry, but my karma ran over your dogma.”

During the service, the pastor asked if anyone in the congregation would like to express praise for prayers which had been answered.  A lady stood up and came forward. She said, “I have a reason to thank the Lord. Two months ago, my husband, Jim, had a terrible bicycle wreck and his scrotum was completely crushed. The pain was excruciating and the doctors didn’t know if they could help him.”

You could hear an audible gasp from the men in the congregation as they imagined the pain that poor Jim experienced. She continued, “Jim was unable to hold me or the children and every move caused him terrible pain. We prayed as the doctors performed a delicate operation. They were able to piece together the crushed remnants of Jim’s scrotum and wrap wire around it to hold it in place.”

Again, the men in the Congregation squirmed uncomfortably as they imagined the horrible surgery performed on Jim. She continued, “Now, Jim is out of the hospital and the doctor’s say, with time, his scrotum should recover completely.” All the men sighed with relief.
The pastor rose and tentatively asked if any one else had anything to say.  A man rose and walked slowly to the podium.

He said, “I’m Jim and I would like to tell my wife, the word is ‘sternum.”

My son, Mitchell, who is in kindergarten, practices spelling with magnetic letters on the refrigerator: cat, dog, dad, and mom have been proudly displayed for all to see. One morning while getting ready for the day, Mitchell bounded into the room with his arms outstretched. In his hands were three magnetic letters: “G”-“O”-“D.” “Look what I spelled, Mom!” Mitch exclaimed, a proud smile on his face.

“That’s wonderful!” I praised him. “Now go put them on the fridge so Dad can see when he gets home tonight.” That Catholic education is certainly having an impact, I thought, happily. Just then, a little voice called from the kitchen. “Mom? How do you spell ‘zilla?'”

Mood Enhancer

All of us have our bad moods. There’s no denying or escaping that fact. There is no way that anyone can be happy and calm and chatty and friendly 24/7, 365 day a year. That is just not humanly possible. Anyone who claims otherwise is lying and being a dick. Call them on that bluff, pull them down to the floor and punch them in the eye. I hate big liars! We all have our good days and bad days and sometimes we have a bad day in which we have a bad mood throughout the day! It’s rare for me but it does happen once in a while.

So what does one do when one is in a bad mood? I usually find that it is best to let that mood run it’s course, let the boo hoos out and not to rush things in any kind of haste. You must try and let it naturally finish it’s little fury and wait for the better feelings to take over as naturally as possible. It’s always best and besides, we are human and it is a human feeling and a human process and it’s only natural to be like that once in a while. That’s what I do – I let myself have that bad mood, try not to let others be too affected by it and when it is done, I’m back to my friendly, funny self.

What does help to speed up the process is my fav music, my fav tv shows or some funny movie or tv series. There are some that are guaranteed to make me laugh and come out of a funk. Or even someone, a friendly usually, cracking a really funny joke at the right time can bring me out of that foul mood and laughing in no time. That’s usually a memorable moment when it happens.

What about you guys?

I’m Gonna Ride My Way To Heaven

My favourite supergroup (and if there ever was a supergroup, this is it) has a killer liver version of their song Something’s Going Wrong. Only thing is in this live performance, Chad Smith was unable to play and hence they had a temporary replacement in another monster drummer Kenny Aronoff. Joe Satriani does a great solo.
