You’re going on a cross-country trip. Airplane, train, bus, or car? (Or something else entirely — bike? Hot air balloon?)
As much as I would love to travel & see the land below from a hot air balloon the question of where to go to the loo will forever keep me from ever taking more than an hour or two in one. Still am amazed that Phileas Fogg and his French valet Passepartout managed 80 days in it. What? That’s just a story? Oh, now it all makes sense!
Car would be fun if it is a nice car with plenty of space inside, leg room wise. You can also crank up the hard rock music and do sing alongs and stop at motels/hotels along the way for the night. Just make sure that you have a good route mapped out for you and stick to the route. Do not take deviations along the way and do not take shortcuts. You might end up being tortured & eaten alive by the inbred hill people! And avoid any establishments run by anyone named Bates! Instead of a car a big trailer like the luxurious ones that rock stars travel in would do just fine. You can sleep in it with relative comfort as well. And watch movies, surf the internet and stuff. Same for a bus which is converted to suit your needs.
Trains – not if it is Indian trains unless you are using the first class compartments. I hate using the toilets in the trains. I don’t much like trains although I have had a couple of nice long distance journeys in them. I’d like to travel in some of the nice luxury coaches that I see in some Western countries. With beautiful scenery passing you by, the mountains, the lakes, the rivers, the woods and the towns. Ah that could be very nice.
Planes is the fastest and most convenient and easiest way to hit the most number of places in the shortest amount of time. And I would prefer it. But you can’t see the towns passing by, you can’t see the countrysides or the mountains, lakes, forests & rivers. Yes you can travel from one city to another which is far away quite quickly or even from one country/continent to another much quicker. But I think you miss our on the personal aspects of traveling. If given a choice I would choose a trailer or big bus to travel with a couple of friends and use planes for longer distances.
