Coriander Chutney & Veggie Sandwiches

How to make a coriander chutney & veggie sandwich! This a family recipe and a usual dinner.

  • coriander leaves
  • shredded coconut
  • green chillies (2 small ones)
  • salt
  • ginger or garlic
  • half a lemon
  • onions
  • tomatoes
  • green peppers
  • carrots
  • cucumbers

You will need a handful of coriander leaves, 4 to 5 tablespoons of shredded coconut, 2 small green chillies, salt to taste, a small piece of ginger or garlic for making the chutney. Grind them up to make the chutney paste. Once that is done, squeeze half a lemon rind to the paste. Then slice up the onion, cucumber, tomato, carrot and green pepper.

Spoon the coriander chutney onto slices of bread (toasted or fresh as per your choice) and add the veggies onto them. My own technique is to spread the chutney onto two slices of bread and add in order – 3 onion pieces, 2 tomatoes, 4 small carrot slices & 2 long green peppers slices. Add a dash of pepper and you are ready to go!

The campaign is called ‘It’s Your Fault’, and it showcases different dimensions of a victim’s life. Take a look.

An Ethical Dilemma On A Large Scale

I was watching the Star Trek Enterprise episode “Dear Doctor” last night. The plot of the story is that the ship’s doctor, a Denobulan named Dr. Phlox, while skirting around the situation of possibly having a female human crew member be romantically interested in him gets a chance to help find a cure to a disease that is killing an alien species that the Enterprise has just met. The episode is put in such a way that Phlox is dictating a verbal message which he later plans to send to his former colleague & friend, Dr. Jeremy Lucas, who is a human doctor on an exchange program in Deobula at the moment. Phlox, with the help of crewman Elizabeth Cutler & Ensign Hoshi Sato takes samples and conducts tests, hoping to find a cure. The alien species, the Valakians, are a pre-warp civilization and under usual circumstances the Starfleet crew aren’t supposed to make contact with them but the small ship of ill Valakians had hailed them and also their people have already had contact with two other advanced alien races who tried to help them but failed. As the lives of 50 million Valakians are at stake – they could die out completely in a matter of a few 100 years – Captain Archer sends Phlox to help find a cure.

Phlox takes on the challenge and meets the doctors in the lab on the surface but he is however surprised to find that there is another sentient humanoid species on the same planet, albeit not at all quite as advanced or evolved as the Valakians. This second race is called the Menk and, although the Valakians take care of them and provide food & shelter for them, they are kind of treated as glorified pets by the vastly superior Valakians. The Menk are apparently not affected by the disease and are a hard working bunch. Dr. Phlox, Hoshi & Elizabeth are surprised to find out that the Menk seem far more intelligent than they thought Р actually quite advanced as they demonstrate that they are able to learn some English, and organize tissue samples correctly. However the Menk have always lived in a part of the planet where the soil is not suited for crops and hence the technologically superior Valakians give them whatever is needed in exchange for mostly menial work. As Phlox works on finding a cure, Archer is asked by a Valakian for warp drive technology so that that if Enterprise cannot find a cure, the Valakians can search for other races who might be willing to help them. As the alien race did not posses rudimentary understand of warp technology or have any experience working with anti-matter, Archer is reluctant to teach them to make a warp drive. It is then that Phlox finishes his research and speaks to the captain.

There’s a question that arises: how much can you ‘interfere’ in a developing civilization? Dr. Phlox develops a medicine that can halt the progress of a disease that is killing off the Valakians but feels that if they continue to survive, then the Menk will continue to be dominated and not have a chance to evolve to their potential. Phlox says that he thinks it is incorrect to be helping the Valakians ‚Äď that the Menk are supposed to survive, and will only be allowed to properly evolve and prosper if they are not tied to the Valakians. Phlox explains that the “disease” is actually an inherent flaw in Valakian DNA; they’ve reached an evolutionary dead end. Archer however demands the cure and Phlox gives it to him. However later Archer makes the statement that he has reconsidered the matter, and that he agrees that the¬†Enterprise¬†and the human race did not go to the stars to play god for other species. They go down to the planet and give the Valakian doctors a medicine which will ease the symptoms and help them. They state they won’t give them a¬†warp drive, that their race must help itself.

I find this episode presenting a deep & meaningful question and proposes an ethical dilemma. How do you make that choice – to not help another sentient humanoid race and rescue them only to let another race, with possibilities of become more evolved, survive and thrive in their stead? The former race was meant to become extinct as per nature and how do you change that? Or…how do you stand by and not do anything or not do enough, thereby sealing the fate of an entire species, millions of humanoids belonging to one race and let¬† nature take it’s own course?

I like this episode a lot.

Beer Types – Amber Ale

Amber ale is a term used in Australia, France and North America for pale ales brewed with a proportion of crystal malt to produce an amber colour generally ranging from light copper to light brown. A small amount of crystal or other coloured malt is added to the basic pale ale base to produce a slightly darker colour, as in some Irish and British pale ales. In France the term “ambr√©e” is used to signify a beer, either cold or warm fermented, which is amber in colour; the beer, as in Pelforth Ambr√©e and Fischer Amber, may be a Vienna lager, or it may be a Bi√®re de Garde as in Jenlain Ambr√©e.In North America, American-variety hops are used in varying degrees of bitterness, although very few examples are particularly hoppy. In Australia the most popular Amber Ale is from Malt Shovel Brewery, branded James Squire in honour of Australia’s first brewer, who first brewed beer in Sydney in 1794.

A style without definition, amber ales range from bland, vaguely caramelly beers to products with a fairly healthy malt and hop balance. Often the differentiation between a quality amber and an American Pale is that the amber might have more dark malt character, or a less assertive hop rate. This balance of flavors makes Amber Ale quite versatile as a food pairing option, not to mention being rather tasty in its own right. Amber ales were originally considered synonymous with pale ales, but branched off distinctly around the turn of the 20th century. Sometimes described as West Coast ale, they became popular in California, Oregon and Washington, where beers with more hops added were popular. Copper-colored versions are also called red ales by some brewing companies, but there is no real distinction between the two terms.

Pictured here is an Amber ale, the Lost Coast, from AlleyCat Brewery in Edmonton, Canada.

Prompt: Monogamy

I have read a few opinions here and there that monogamy and humankind do not mesh. That we humans were not meant to be monogamous as it is against our nature to actually be so! What is the definition of monogamy?

Monogamy is a form of marriage in which an individual has only one spouse during their lifetime or at any one time, however current usage, monogamy often refers to having one sexual partner irrespective of marriage or reproduction. The term is also applied to the social behavior of some animals, referring to the state of having only one mate at any one time. I’m someone who believes that as we humans have evolved and progressed, it should be noted that the practice of having only sexual partner has seen changes. For current times, in many parts of the world, marriage may not hold the same sacredness & value that it used to hold a generation or two ago. I don’t believe that mankind has to go one way or the other, rather it depends on the individuals themselves as to what kind of sexual life they want to live in. I’ve seen couples, men, women take commitment so lightly and look more for fun and I’ve seen committed & faithful relationships that stand the test of time and whatever life can throw at them.

I’m a bit old fashioned. When I was younger I always thought that I’d meet the right girl, we’d fall in love and that’d be it – until the end of our lives. It hasn’t changed much but I have been in a couple of relationships so I can’t stay true to the original thought. However I crave commitment and I believe in giving my all to just one woman, one person till the end. I find that kind of devotion to each other & faithfulness beautiful even sex and fun. That is the only thing I ask for in a significant other. I’m still waiting. Waiting for the one woman to open up my life.

Halloween : H2O, Resurrection & 25 Years

The next movie in the Halloween franchise sees the return of Jamie Lee Curtis, a welcome return for long time fans after the death of Donald Pleasance. However the direction that this movie took might not have sat well with a lot of fans. The screenplay, based on a story by¬†Kevin Williamson¬†further developed by Robert Zapia, was written by Zapia and¬†Matt Greenberg. It acts as a direct sequel to¬†John Carpenter’s¬†Halloween¬†and¬†Halloween II¬†and ignores the events of¬†Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers,¬†Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers, and¬†Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers. However you can still look at it as a continuation, if you forget a few details.

20 years have passed since the events of 1978 and, in Halloween : H2O, on the 29th of October, after the death of Dr. Loomis, a nurse he worked with returns to her house after work and finds that it has been broken into. She gets a neighbour, a young teen, to check inside the house for signs of the burglars, but he finds none. She goes in and a medical file is missing, the one on Laurie Strode. Michael then attacks and kills her – he had already killed the teen and his friend in the next house. As the police comes looking, Michael leaves in the nurse’s house. He has found Laurie – she faked her death in a car crash and then moved to California under the assumed name of Keri Tate. Laurie is now the headmistress at Hillcrest Academy High School, a private¬†boarding school has a son named John (Josh Hartnett in his first movie role), and has a boyfriend Will (Adam Arkin) who works as the student counselor at the school. But she is still haunted by the events of her past. John who just turned 17t is supposed to be off with the rest of the students on a school trip on Halloween so Laurie has an evening planned with Will. John and his best friends – girlfriend Molly (Michelle Williams), Charlie (Adam Hann-Byrd) & Sarah (Jody Lynn O’Keefe) skipped the trip to stay back in the school and are having an intimate Halloween party. Michael has been stalking the grounds and snuck past Ronny the guard (rapper LL Cool J, ugh) and looks for the teens. Charlie is the first victim in the kitchen and Sarah, who goes looking for Charlie, is the next.

John & Molly run from the approaching Michael, who stabs John’s leg and are helped into a building by Laurie & Will. Laurie comes face to face with her brother Michael for the first time in 20 years! They hide the kids in a room and take a pistol and search for Michael. Will shoots at Ronny by accident and the guard falls down. Michael then swoops down and kills Will using his knife and then chases Laurie. Laurie, Molly, and John escape but she tells them to go for help while she chooses to go back to the school with a fire axe. She finds Michael and attempts to kill him several times, and finally after stabbing him multiple times, he topples over a balcony. She approaches his body and pulls one of the knives out of his chest. Ronny, who didn’t die, approaches her and stops her from stabbing Michael again as they call the cops and an ambulance arrives. As the paramedics put Michael into the ambulance, Laurie knowing that Michael is incredibly hard to kill and not believing that he is really dead, grabs the axe from earlier and an officer’s pistol, and she steals the van. She drives the ambulance away and Michael wakes up and as they struggle, the vehicle crashes down a cliff. Michael gets pinned between the vehicle and a tree and Laurie approaches him. Despite a seemingly tender moment Michael reaches out to her, apparently seeking forgiveness and compassion. Laurie is first affected but then steals her resolve and then chops off his head and it rolls off the side of the hill.

4 years later in 2002 we have a sequel called Halloween : Resurrection that shows us that Michael still lives. Apparently, when a paramedic approached Michael, the latter got up and knocked him unconscious and crushed his larynx, making it not possible for the medic to talk. He then¬†forcefully switched clothing and his mask and it was the paramedic who Laurie had killed. The cops discover this when they find the head and unmask it and a devastated Laurie has since been living in a psychiatric hospital. 3 years pass and Michael has now found her and attacks the hospital at night. But Laurie has been waiting for him and she lures him into a trap. However she second guesses herself and goes to check his face behind the mask, which is when he stabs her and drops her to her death from the roof of the building. Michael now returns to Haddonfield to find out that an internet reality show is shooting a show in his old house. 6 college students have won a contest to spend a night in the house and find out clues about why Michael has been killing so many people. Bill Woodlake (Thomas Ian Nicholas), Donna Chang (Daisy McCrackin), Jen Danzig (Katee Sackhoff), Jim Morgan (Luke Kirby), Rudy Grimes (Sean Patrick Thomas), and Sara Moyer (Bianca Kajlich) are the 6 contestants and producer Freddie (another idiot, Busta Rhymes) and his assistant Nora (Tyra Banks) set up the monitors outside in a makeshift studio. There are several cameras setup in the house as well as a headset camera for each contestant. Sara’s cyber friend Myles “Deckard” Barton is watching the show along with many other teens at a Halloween party.

At the house while Jim & Donna make out in the basement and a wall collapses with fake corpses. After Jim leaves to find out what is happening, Donna finds another room behind the wall and is killed by Michael. Meanwhile, Freddie goes through the house dressed as Myers, but is secretly followed by the real Myers. Freddie, mistaking Myers for Charlie (a cameraman who had been killed earlier), tells Myers to go to the garage and help Nora out. When Rudy, Sara, and Jim find Freddie in the Myers costume, he reveals the scheme to them and begs them to cooperate. When he leaves, the trio decides to gather up the other three and leave. But before they can, Jen discovers the body of Bill (who had vanished earlier) and is decapitated by the real Myers right in front of Rudy, Sara, and Jim. Rudy and Sara flee, but Jim stays to fend off Myers only to have his head crushed. Myers then corners Rudy in the kitchen while Sara runs upstairs. Myers kills Rudy by pinning him to the door before chasing Sara upstairs. Myles helps Sara by texting her Michael’s location and she escapes, catching up to Freddie, who tells her that Nora is dead. Before they can leave, Myers finds and attacks them. Freddie is injured and Sara makes her way to the tunnels. She finds an exit near Donna’s body and emerges in the garage. As Myers finds her, Freddie returns and begins fighting Myers hand-to-hand. Freddie electrocutes Myers, tangling him up in electrical wiring before carrying Sara out of the burning garage. Myers’ body is taken to the morgue. As the mortician begins to examine Myers’ body, Myers awakens and seemingly attacks her.

Halloween : 25 Years Of Terror is a DVD documentary narrated by PJ Soles and sees a film by film run of the making of each movie and trivia about each film. It features several of the actors, directors, producers, special effects & make up artists, composers and stuntmen who played Michael talking about their experiences and what they thought of the films they were in. Several big time fans are also featured, some of who joined hands to make the 25th anniversary convention in Pasadena, California (one of the filming locations of the original Halloween) in October 2003, from which a lot of the panel discussions are taken from. The success, flops, highs & lows and controversies related to the franchise are also discussed and it is a really good documentary.

Thus ends my run of first time watching of all the original movies of the Halloween franchise. I must say that 4 is probably my favourite. I hate that the last two movies suffers from bad casting – come on LL Cool J & Busta Rhymes and they both don’t get killed in the movies? Bad acting and stupid oneliners from those two no talent rappers. That is a blemish on the films, some part of a crazy trend in the late 90s and early 2000s to have rappers in movies! Sheesh! H2O gets an 8 outta 10 from me and Resurrection gets a 5 outta 10 from me!

TV Journalist Refuses To Cover Her Hair For Interview

Shared by Upworthy: When Sheik Yousuf Badri told Egyptian TV host Riham Said to keep herself covered during the interview, let’s just say she didn’t quite “obey” the man.

Let’s get this straight; she is a religious person, a Muslim woman. The religious leader had no problem with her uncovered hair when they spoke off camera but for the recorded interview he demanded that she cover her hair with the hijab. She does out it on but makes a point that it is a ‘charade” and she is not for it. During the topic on sexual harassment by priests who perform exorcism, the guy gets upset. She states her point – she would wear the hijab for her god but not for him – says what she feels about Badri and walks off!

1000 salutes to her for her bravery!

I’ll go hunting, fishing, boozing and card-playing when I want with my old buddies and don’t you give me a hard time about it. Those are my rules. Any comments?”

The next morning the man woke up, only to discover it was 9:00 AM and he had missed his flight. Furious, he was about to go and see why his wife hadn’t wakened him, when he noticed a piece of paper by the bed. The paper said, “It is 5:00 AM. Wake up.”

Rantings Of The Rosh

Five major thoughts in my mind right now…..

  • Religion, especially the two major Abrahamic ones and the harm that the fundamentalists are causing to the rest of humanity and to this planet. In their strong belief of a paradise in the unproven “afterlife” they are destroying the only home we have – our planet!
  • The state of the music industry – what the hell went wrong? From intelligent, fun, hummable rock songs played by competent & even proficient musicians and songwriters, the charts are filled with shitty lyrics, stupid songs and freaks who will do anything to make another buck!
  • India – are we going backwards? Will this nation ever improve?
  • I always get this feeling that I was born & am living in the wrong country. My interests lie elsewhere.
  • Why aren’t we part of the space exploring generation like they do in Star Trek?

The Listener – Season 3

This season sees Toby returning to help out on a case for the IIB, although unwittingly. Despite his decision to ignore his telepathic abilities, Toby is forced to use them when he’s taken hostage during a bank robbery. In order to help him, Michelle has to reveal his secret to her boss, Alvin Klein. After convincing a skeptical Klein, a new unit is launched headed by Klein with Michelle, Dev and Toby officially listed as a Special Consultant. The brass is made to believe that Toby is a facial & body language expert and his success rate makes them agree to the creation of the unit. Klein, although not completely sold on Toby’s abilities, relies on Michelle’s & Dev’s trust in the EMS personnel. Klein pull strings to ensure that Toby gets a full pay with his work in IIB and can also work some shifts with the EMS whenever he is not needed at the office. Working his first official investigation, Toby must contend with Alvin Klein’s skepticism and personal agenda in solving a decade-old murder.

When the life of a superstar performer is threatened, Toby poses as her assistant to watch her back and help the Special Ops Unit investigate. Meanwhile, Toby lets Oz stay with him while his apartment is cleaned due to a roof leak. Toby helps the IIB investigate the abduction of an African teenager, whose father is an alleged war criminal. Meanwhile, Oz decides to take the supervisor’s exam, but Ryder does not take him seriously. Toby uses his telepathy as surveillance when Michelle goes undercover to bust a violent art theft ring. Toby and Michelle investigate the link between a cult and the disappearance of three young women. Toby and Michelle investigate the death of a pharmaceutical executive who released a drug with killer results. Meanwhile, Sandy’s return throws Oz’s love life in turmoil. When Magnus Elphrenson escapes prison again, Toby must help Michelle recapture him before the criminal mastermind seeks vengeance on his nemesis. Meanwhile, Ryder assigns himself to be Oz’s partner for a shift, to the latter’s chagrin. Toby starts doubting his abilities after Michelle questions the veracity of his insights during their investigation into a wealthy philanthropist’s murder.

Toby and the IIB race to track the source of a deadly virus before the outbreak claims any more lives, including that of Dr.Olivia Fawcett. I can’t believe they kill off my sweetheart Mylene Dihn-Robic, who plays Olivia. But in truth with Toby no longer working full time as an EMS and the episodes concentrating on the cases and police work more, one of Toby’s two friends had to die or be written off. Since Oz is the comedic relief, the one to go was the good friend & ex-girlfriend doctor. Sad way to die! Toby and Michelle investigate a series of violent home invasions, which are being interrupted by a vigilante citizen dressed as a superhero. Oz unwittingly puts his life in danger after he convinces Toby to help a childhood friend who witnessed a murder. With Michelle’s career on the line, Toby and the IIB must prove she was set up after a bad tip led to the shooting of a suspect.

This season sees the show make a move to more police & crime oriented and hence cutting of a cast member. This tv show doesn’t shy away from killing of main characters – first season ends with the death of Charlie Marks and 2 seasons later, Olivia also dies.

When I Was 18!

What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think back to being 18?

Innocence fading; ok it still a few more years for me to lose my innocence completely but I believe that a big chunk of it was lost in the year I turned 18. I could legally drink in India (back then it was still 18+) but that was not how I lost my innocence.

I was quite naive back then. I believed in only good, I believed that all people were good. Even then ones who wanted to harm others and me. I just thought that they had lost their way and it just took a few eye opening dialogues to open their hearts & minds to goodness again. I blindly trusted people, people who I thought were my friends and who I thought wouldn’t harm me. I thought they had my back like I had theirs. How quickly they ran and turned their backs on me when the tide changed!

I shall also remember the age of 18 as being the first time I got really intimate, physically with someone for the first time, my then girlfriend. I shall forever remember the thrill, the emotional & physical closeness and the magic of it all. We broke up 3 years later and I haven’t seen or spoken to her since I was 22/23.

By the time I turned 19 I was onto another adventure and away from home for a year. But 18….man that was a year of sadness and happiness.

Current Wallpaper & Watching Enterprise

This is my current desktop wallpaper for my laptop. I’ve just started my rerun of Star Trek Enterprise. Watched the pilot and another episode this afternoon. Hopefully before bedtime I’ll get in another 2-3 episodes. I’ve seen seasons 1 & 2 twice – once on tv and¬† then on dvd in 2011 along with seasons 3 & 4. I’ve stated it before that season 3 – a long arch of searching for & meeting the Xindi alien races – is one of my fav seasons of all time and not just in Star Trek or scifi shows alone. It’s gonna be a good ride.

The Call

The Call is a 2013 abduction thriller film directed by¬†Brad Anderson¬†and written by Richard D’Ovidio. The movie stars Hall Berry, Abigail Breslin, Michael Eklund & Morris Chesnutt with supporting roles by Roma Maffia, Justina Machado & David Otunga.

Jordan is a 911 operator working in the Los Angeles Police Department’s emergency call center. She receives a call one night from teenager Leah Templeton, who cries into the phone that someone is breaking into her house. Jordan guides the girls to hide under her bed while dispatching cops to the house but when the call gets disconnected she calls the girl back – the phone ringing alters the intruder to the location of the girl. He grabs her, finds the phone and when Jordan tells him to stop what he’s doing and not hurt the girl, he replies that “it’s already done” and cuts the call. A few days later a distraught Jordan sees on a news report that Leah’s body has been found and an emotionally affected Jordan tells her boyfriend cop Officer Paul Phillips that she cannot field calls anymore.

6¬† months later we find Jordon training new recruits at the 911 call center. At a mall parking lot, after spending some time with her friend, teenager Casey is abducted and put into the trunk of a car. When she comes to she calls 911 on a cell phone (which her friend left behind) and a rookie operator attends the call. Unable to handle it, she hands it over to a reluctant Jordan. As Casey is using a burner cell the exact location via GPS, so Jordan guides Casey to knock out a tail light and wave out to people on the road. A woman sees Casey’s hand sticking out from the rear of the car and alerts the cops, thereby narrowing the location. Finding cans of paint Casey dumps them through the broken tail light, causing another driver in a car to alert the abductor. Panicking the abductor stops the car and threatens Casey but the other man who decides to investigate sees this. Before he can call the cops, the abductor beats him up and kills him in the car later, putting the dead body in the other man’s car trunk along with Casey, stealing his car. Later at a gas station, Casey alerts the attendant but he too is killed by abductor. However, he inadvertently leaves fingerprints at the scene of the car switch, and the police are finally able to determine his identity as Michael Foster. As he reaches his destination, Michael finds the phone and once again Jordon speaks to him. She tells him to give himself up,¬†that they found his identity through his prints and to not hurt the girl. He tells Jordan “that it is done” -which makes her realize that he is the one who killed Leah.

Meanwhile, Paul and some other cops raid Michael’s home and finds his wife & small kids. They find clues in Michael’s home office – a photo of Michael and his sister, Melinda, they realize that Casey resembles the latter. From Michael’s wife they learn that the house in the photo, his old family home, was burned down but that a nearby cottage still exists. The cops raid it but do not find anyone and hence leave. ¬†Determined to catch the killer, Jordan drives to the secondary home where she finds a number of photos of Michael with his¬†leukemia-stricken sister. While she is about to leave, she hears a metallic sound (a locket hitting a flagpole) which she recognizes from when she spoke with Michael. Searching in the grounds, she uncovers a carefully hidden trap door in the dirt, right where the old house stood, that leads to a large underground cellar with many rooms. She goes down without calling the cops and sees Michael’ hideout. It seems as a child he had incestuous feelings for his sister and when she died, losing all her hair, it traumatized him. Michael has a prop head that he keeps in the cellar that he treats like his sister. He has also been scalping and killing young girls who have similar blond hair, trying to find scalps that match his sister’s hair. Jordan finds Michael about to scalp Casey and attack him. She frees Casey and the run to climb out through the exit. Michael pursues them, and they are able to injure and kick him back down into the cellar, rendering him unconscious. When Michael comes to he finds himself strapped to a chair and both Casey & Jordon inform him that they plan to leave him to die and claim that Casey had escaped, Jordan found her in the woods, and Michael simply disappeared. He tells them they cannot just leave him there. As they walk out, Jordan recites his words, “It’s already done”, then closes and locks the door behind her.

Good, riveting movie but yeah, pure Hollywood, although I did enjoy it quite a bit. 8 outta 10!

A Pup Named Lassie

Your first pet was a _____. Write about it.

I don’t remember wanting dogs or cats as a young kid. Growing up in a small apartment in Kuwait, most of my friends who also lived in small apartments had either love birds in cages or an assortment of fish in tanks. We had our own fish tank and kept several fish for a while. My mother’s family side has a lot of dog lovers. When I was a baby my uncles, both lawyers who lived in my grandmother’s large house in Mattancherry (old Cochin), bought a German Sheppard bitch they named, rather humorously Hema Malini (a famous Indian actress). A few years later they got another German Sheppard which they named Mickey. Mickey (not sure as to how fine he was) was cute as a puppy, as he grew he scared the crap outta 8 year old me.

When I was 11 years old we moved back to India and settled in the South region suburb of Thirkkakara. Once again we bought some love birds and, since we had a big house with a large front porch, we bought a rather large bird cage and kept 6 love birds and also a fish tank with some fish. A year later my dad, sister & I talked about getting a dog. At age 12 I was excited about getting a dog of our own but didn’t know much about the various breeds. We ended up getting a mixed breed pup – she was part Pomeranian-part Alsatian and we named her Lassie. She was an awesome fluffy ball of energy and my sister & I spent the entire day basking in the little one’s love. We had to keep her in a huge cartoon with her water and some sheets until her kennel could be built.

For 4 days I doted on little Lassie but she died on the5th day as apparently she had a worm infection and she also knocked down a can of petrol and lapped it up. This happened when no one was around and she snuck into the room behind the garage and did it. She broke my heart when that happened and it took me a while to get over it. I also remember that a day or two after we got her, she was so scared because our neighbours were bursting really loud firecrackers and just looking into her big brown & fearful eyes made me want to cry. All I could do was hold her close.

It wasn’t a satisfactory win at all but in the end we still got the 3 points that we came for. Aaron Ramsey scored twice as Arsenal beat Sunderland in contentious circumstances.

Arsenal debutant Mesut Ozil set up Olivier Giroud for an early strike, with Craig Gardner equalising from the spot after the break. But after Ramsey volleyed in, the game turned when Jozy Altidore was denied a goal after referee Martin Atkinson failed to play an advantage. Ramsey scored a fine second to earn Arsenal’s fifth consecutive win. There was a Sunderland goal disallowed for being offside in the second half and an another just a few minutes after Arsenal scored their second goal; that was the weirdest decision – the ref chose to stick to his whistle for a fowl on Craig Gardner, who went on to score! But the goal was disallowed and a close range free kick was given instead.

At that point it looked as if Arsenal would indeed survive and my prediction of a 3-1 win did come true. In the 75th minute, Ramsey scores with a right foot finish.¬† More troubling for Arsenal & Wenger is that Giroud was taken off injured towards the end of the match. With Podoslki already out injured for a few weeks, we can’t have Giroud out as well

10 Years Older Overnight!

“If tomorrow morning you woke up ten years older, what would be the first thing that you would do?”

I’d scream bloody murder! 10 year older overnight? 47 just like that, waking up from sleep? Look, I’m scared and going all crazy about turning 40¬† in 3 years. Imagine what I would go through to suddenly wake up 47 and worry about turning 50 in another 3 years? That would not be a pretty sight!

So I would scream and yell to the universe and try and find out exactly what happened. How did this cruel prank take place on me? Why, why, why? Why did it have to happen to me?
