Helix – Season 1

Helix is an American science fiction thriller television series that premiered on Syfy on January 10, 2014 and just concluded it’s 13 episode season 1 (on Saturday). The series follows a team of scientists from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) who travel to a research facility in the Arctic to investigate a potential outbreak of disease. While there, they find themselves stuck in a life-or-death situation that could decide the future of mankind. The executive producers of Helix are Ronald D. Moore, Lynda Obst, Steven Maeda, and Cameron Porsandeh,Maeda serves as day-to-day showrunner. The main cast are Billy Campbell as Dr. Alan Faragutt, Hiroyuki Sanada as Dr. Hiroshi Hatake, Kyra Zagorsky as Dr. Julia Walker & Mark Ghanimé as Major Sergio Balleseros with Jordan Hayes as Dr. Sarah Jordan, Neil Napier as Dr. Peter Farragut & Meegwun Fairbrother as Daniel Aerov and Tulok (Twins) and Luciana Carro as Anana.

In the Arctic, a giant corporate company named Illaria, is running a large state of the art research center where genetic engineering research is being done and a majority of the people in the station gets infected. It is unclear at first whether the goal is a bio-weapon or to transform humans in some way, and there are two variants of the virus. The first is immediately fatal with no cure. Those infected with the second virus become dangerously violent “Vectors”, spreading the infection to others, with a small percentage eventually regaining some normality if treated, as it seems several characters have already been infected and cured. These cured ones can control the Vectors to a certain degree and are identified by the silver eye colour that they get post getting cured. Dr. Alan Farragut and his team of CDC scientists are called to a remote Arctic Research Base where his brother got infected with a deadly and unknown virus. Soon Alan and his team have to realize that there are secrets being kept and it is later revealed that the “outbreak” is a cover story for using Julia Walker as a test subject, and to deceive the CDC personnel into creating an anti-viral “cure” to the benefit of the Ilaria corporation’s objectives. The CDC team tries to find a treatment for the infected patients and contain the virus by hunting down the ones who were exposed to the virus. Meanwhile, panic rises amongst the people on the station. On day 3, Peter seeks Alan’s help before he collapses, Sarah finds a rapid response test for infected patients, Julia begins to slowly feel the effects of Peter’s attack while Balleseros helps Doreen get another monkey sample.

On day 4, the quarantined people on Level R force Dr. Hatake to re-establish communication by cutting off the air supply. Meanwhile, Peter’s condition worsens quickly, forcing Alan to try the untested universal treatment, Sarah has to question her rapid response test and Doreen gets closer to figuring out Balleseros. On day 5, Alan tries to find out what happened to Doreen after discovering her body, Julia finds a helpful friend on Level R, Sarah keeps hiding an infected patient in her room and Balleseros tries to find the mysterious Dr. Hvit. Alan and Jordan’s work on decoding the virus is seeing progress, while Julia is being cured by Hatake. Constance Sutton (Jeri Ryan) of Ilaria Corporation arrives with mercenaries; Daniel makes a discovery; Julia learns something about herself and Hatake protects her from the mercenaries. The vectors attack and take Peter’s body; Walker is held prisoner by Sutton after the true nature of Sutton’s relationship with Hatake is revealed. Secrets come to the light and unlikely alliances are established; at the same time, Alan and Walker take on a dangerous mission to destroy what’s left of the NARVIK virus. Walker learns something world shattering about her past. Alan and Julia travel to an abandoned satellite station in a last-ditch effort to call for help. Once there, they come across the truth behind Hatake’s plan and Julia’s condition. Meanwhile, Dr. Jordan (Sarah) makes a startling discovery of her own, which could mean a cure for cancer.

Peter Farragut and vectors attempt to spread the virus in a desperate, final attempt. Meanwhile, the scientists of the CDC create a cure for the virus by working together, just as a threat from deadly mercenaries of the Ilaria Corporation threaten their very lives. The Ilaria assassin, The Scythe, kills the remaining survivors that have not yet made it to the bunker, and is then revealed to be a teenage boy. The Scythe is revealed to be the immortal Spencer Chiswick, Constance Sutton’s 16-year-old son. Alan and Hatake lure Spencer and one of his agents outside where they plan to lay a trap; Hatake throws a canister, allegedly containing the virus, onto the snow and causes one of Spencer’s operatives who attempts to retrieve the virus to fall into a chasm. Spencer learns Julia is Hatake’s daughter and abducts her. He gives Hatake a choice of lives to save—Julia’s or Daniel’s, but Daniel sacrifices himself. Julia realizes that a package Spencer brought with him contains her mother. Day 13: Balleseros agrees to hand over the virus, already reported in Puerto Rico, if Hatake turns over the list of displaced Inuit children. Peter is revealed to be working for Ilaria and frees the Scythe, who blows up the base, stealing both the virus and cure. He also takes Julia hostage, after killing her mother. Day 235: Alan searches in Paris for Julia, who is shown to now be an Ilaria executive.

It is a good series but goes too confusing especially with regards to what the virus is and what is the purpose of Illaria spreading it. The explanations of Julia being Hatake’s daughter took me by surprise and seemed a bit odd. Overall I like the show but wish season 2 takes a more clearer approach and clear their plots.

Hey Stinky!

Close Encounters of the Smelly Kind

How do you deal with smelly people? Arm yourself with bars of soap, shampoo and other cleaning liquids. When there are people who come near me and stink very badly of say….something like cigarette smoke stink here’s what I do. I can’t stand the smell, you know the kind that stinks up the whole room as soon as the person walks in and so suggest people I know to either keep toothpaste or mouth wash handy. On several occasions I have threatened to physically drag the person to the bathroom and use a combination of Dettol, soap, toothpaste, mouthwash and toilet cleaning liquid and a plunger and wash their mouth with it! And I’m only half joking! I have been tempted to dump all the cleaning liquid in a toilet bowl and push their heads in it and press “FLUSH”!

If you actually like the person who has that smell breath or stink about them, suggest it in a kind way or leave hints around them. Buy them deodorants all the time and keep sending them links on cleanliness and on purchasing products. Armpit odour – send them links to buy deodorants online. Stink breath – send them links on mouth wash. Overall body odour – then send them body wash and shampoo links. Pretty soon, unless they are really thick headed, they will get the point and take care of things themselves. Problem solved and no need for possibly relationship scarring dialogues!

Or….and this works if you already have a breathing issue like asthma…feign an asthma attack when they are within your vicinity! That could be hilarious as well :D

Butter Chicken Pizza

An Indian classic meets Italian cuisine with this tasty and impressive meal that’s perfect for both kids and adults. I just came to learn about this a few minutes ago and it makes me so happy – cause I love pizza and I love butter chicken! I found this recipe online on the Food Network’s Canadian website. Strangely, my brief google search of Butter Chicken Pizza shows predominantly Canadian websites & links and a couple from New Zealand. Here are the ingredients from the Food Network.ca page :

½ cup (125 mL) VH® Butter Chicken Sauce / ? cup (75 mL) plain yogurt / ½ teaspoon (2 mL) minced garlic / ¼ teaspoon (1 mL) salt / 1 boneless skinless chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces / PAM® Cooking Spray / 1 prepared thin crust pizza crust / 1 cup (250 mL) pizza cheese, shredded, divided / ½ cup (125 mL) spinach / ¼ cup (60 mL) sliced red onion / 24 cherry tomatoes, cut in half.

Directions:

1. Pre-heat oven to 425°F (220°C). Stir together VH® Butter Chicken Sauce, yogurt, garlic and salt.

2. Mix 3 tbsp (45 mL) of the yogurt sauce with chicken pieces; set aside remaining yogurt sauce. Cover and marinate chicken for 15 minutes.

3. Spray a small skillet with PAM® Original Cooking Spray; heat over medium heat. Add marinated chicken pieces; stir-fry until no longer pink inside; about 5 minutes.

4. Spread reserved yogurt sauce over pizza crust. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup of the cheese. Layer the spinach, onion, cherry tomatoes (cut side up), and cooked chicken. Top with the remaining 1/2 cup (125 mL) of cheese.

5. Bake directly on the oven rack for 12 to 15 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbling. Remove from the oven and let sit for 2 to 3 minutes before cutting into 10 slices.

6. Tips: Try on Naan bread! Don’t like spinach or onions? Simply replace them with your favourite toppings. Mushrooms and black olives work just as well.

Magic Magic

There is nothing magic about this film, leaving me to think as to what the producers of this movie intended with this misleading title. Magic Magic is a 2013 Chilean-American psychological horror film written and directed by Sebastián Silva. It stars Juno Temple, Emily Browning, Michael Cera, Augustin Silva and Catalina Sandino Moreno.

Alicia is a young American woman who travels to Chile to meet up with her cousin Sarah who is currently in the country attending university. When she gets there she learns that Sarah is going on a trip to the countryside in Pagoda with her Chilean boyfriend Augustine and friends Brink, a fellow American student & Augustine’s sister Barbra. Alicia is apprehensive of traveling & staying with strangers but is urged on by her cousin. However just as they leave on the journey, Sarah is called from her university and is forced back to school to retake an exam (or so we’re lead to believe). She convinces Alicia to travel with the other 3 and says she will join them the next day. Alicia finds the 3 people’s behaviour strange especially Brink and his weird sense of humour. The long flight to Chile added with the 15 hour drive to rural areas give an already apprehensive, awkward and jetlagged Alicia insomnia and her grip on reality is affected.

The four of them settle in a small cabin where Barbra, a medical student, begins to study and in an unfriendly manner tells the rest not to disturb her. That leaves Alicia with Augustine and Brink who seem to be acting weirdly to the young girl and their frequently talking in Spanish also makes her feel left out. When Sarah is delayed by two more days, Alicia starts to cry due to the loneliness and awkward feeling she has with three strangers. While watching the two men playing on roller skates she sees a local sheep dog and tries to be friendly with it but she freaks out with it starts humping her leg, which amuses the men. Brink also seems to hit on Alicia anytime they are alone, even for a few seconds, which irritates her. She is unable to sleep and even her slight movements in her room seems to disturb Barbra, which the latter always rudely mentions to Alicia. Also, earlier on the drive to Pagoda a heartless maneuver pulled on a sick, stray puppy pierces her emotions, though that pales in comparison to her reaction to Brink shooting a bird dead on its blood-drenched wings. In her eyes, they’re all “sadists”! Alicia is also frustrated with the spotty cell service and when gets a call from Sarah, she is reduced to tears as she complains about her cabinmates but she feels that Sarah was talking to someone else!

Sarah finally arrives but is more concerned about hooking up with Augustine than being sympathetic to Alicia’s fears. There is a scene at a cliff where the other 3 (minus Barbra) go jumping into the water but a scared Alicia is rushed to tears with the rest trying to coax her. Barbra gives Alicia sleeping pills to curb her insomnia but a night later, Alicia is hypnotized by Augustine and is made to do a few silly things including dancing provocatively. When Brink tells her to place her hand in the fire, she does, burning her hand and waking her up. She is medicated but again unable to sleep. The final straw for Alicia is when she realizes that she could be hallucinating – her call with Sarah which the latter denies happening and her running away from the same sheep dog only to see it coming with it’s owner from another direction. She begins to walk in a trance, even provocatively rubbing her pubic area on Brink’s face which the two later argue about. At the end she walks off in the night, half in a trance due to overdosing on sleeping pills and is caught by the others and taken to a family that lives nearby as the nearest hospital is over 5 hours away. The couple conduct a native ceremony and is given some tea to drink but in her state she chokes on it and dies, while the others are so traumatized that they can’t even bear to watch. The end!

I know some people liked it but I didn’t. It’s a mess and it bored me for the most part. I do agree that both Cera & Temple’s performances are what drives the movie. I give it a 5.5 outta 10! Will not be watching it again.

Trip To Trivandrum

So I’m back from my little trip to the state capital of Trivandrum. I made the mistake of taking the bus both to and fro, which resulted in a longer journey both times. By train it would have taken me 4 hours & 30 minutes on average but the bus rides were both 6 & a 1/2 hours both ways. KRSTC does take it’s own time. Next time I will ensure to take the train.

I left to the bus station after a quick & early lunch from home and as soon as I reached the station I was blasted with a hot wave of urine & shit smell! Ah, India how sweet you smell! The problems persist in the 21st century and the train stations and some trains and bus stations have that familiar yet disgusting smell that reminds you that “progress” is a selective state. I only had to wait 15 minutes for a bus headed for Trivandrum and with my bag and two purchases I made at a concession stand at the station – a cold bottle of water and a packet of biscuits – I was the first passenger to enter the bus, pay for my ticket and take a seat. It was an uneventful journey, with only the heat and the duration being of note. I reached Trivandrum city at 7:40 pm and took an auto to my aunt’s house – which surprisingly I remembered the way once we reached the housing colony. As stated in the previous post, I hadn’t been to Trivdandrum in almost 12 years.

I had some coffee and then took a bath before dinner. My aunt sleeps at around 10:30 pm and I retired to the guest room at the same time and read for 30 minutes before I too left for dreamland. The next morning after a bath, shave & breakfast I left for Technopark and went to get a pass to enter the giant IT park. I had a little trouble finding the office as it is a newer one in the park and they haven’t setup all the boards. I was in their offices for about 1 hr & 45 minutes and then left back to find a bus or an auto to take me back to my aunt’s place. The hot sun didn’t help me much and I was sweaty & tired as I reached her home for lunch. A 20 minute rest & after refreshing myself I went to the Trivandrum bus station and looked for a bus coming home. Once again I had a long ride, 6 hours plus and was thoroughly tired on reaching my apartment.

To make matters worse, the wire of the fan in my bedroom burnt off last night and I had to sleep in the living room as I needed a fan but couldn’t get comfortable enough and hence sleep lasted maybe 2 hours. At 5 am I took my phone and started listening to music in my bedroom as it was a bit more cooler and so was able to relax on my bed and sleep for a bit but yes the mosquitoes were biting! Still tired now at 1pm but atleast we got a person to fix a new fan.

IMG-20140327-01103

At every bus stand this is a common sight – small stalls that sell you snacks, water, cool drinks, etc etc. We had a 15 minute stop over at Kollam for tea or coffee and I took this photo from my seat.

Taking A Short Trip

I’m heading out to the state capital city Trivandrum (name officially changed to the local language name of Thiruvananthapuram but I and a lot of others still call it Trivandrum) later this afternoon. It’s about 4 hours or so and I’m traveling by KSRTC bus. I’m going there to attend an interview at one of the companies in the Technopark area. I’ve been in contact with them via a recruitment agency from Friday and directly from Monday. I will take the bus this afternoon and hopefully reach there by evening without too much of a hassle and spend the evening at my aunt’s house. Her only son, my cousin lives here in Cochin with his wife & son.

I will attend the interview at around 10 am tomorrow and post that head back to the KSRTC stand and wait for the next bus back to Cochin. I haven’t been to Trivandrum in over a decade. Last time I was in Trivandrum – summer of 2002! I remember that I watched the World Cup finals between Brazil & Germany with two of my cousins, at my aunt’s house drinking a couple of (brandies I think) with dinner. A couple of my cousin’s friends were also there for the evening.

So until tomorrow evening, adios amigos!

Finding No Such As ‘Fate’

Do you believe in fate or do you believe you can control your own destiny?

Fate is an excuse (which I have been guilty of using in the past) that we use when things go beyond our control and / or go bad as a result of bad choices in our past. I do not believe of fate as in things decided for you; decided by who or what? Don’t feed me that bullshit!

We all have choices in life. Even in the most direst circumstances we still have a choice to make and unfortunately for most of us we usually end up making the wrong choice, taking the wrong decision. And we have to suffer for it. We live in a world that is usually not very kind to people who make a lot of mistakes or have made a giant one that haunts us for the remainder of our lives. Unless things change for the whole of humanity, this is how it’s going to be. We have to work hard at finding ways to counteract this and get by or thrive if we can. Cause the alternative is not pretty and does nothing for us.

We tend to let the blame rest on fate and say that everything is due to it and hence we can take no responsibility as a result. No not I, sir. I admit that I’ve made many bad decisions in my life, some due to matters beyond my own control and some because I was not clever enough. Perhaps I can recover from them but no one or no thing decided my future, my life for me. Now if only making a great change was as easy.

Status of Flight MH370 : Updates

The tragic story of the Malaysian Airlines Flight 370 that went missing earlier this month continues as major updates & news broke out this evening. Several objects floating in an area of the Indian ocean—about 1,224 miles southwest of Perth, Australia—have been spotted by planes searching for possible debris from the missing Flight 370, which vanished from radar screens on March 8. “At present, we cannot yet confirm that the floating objects are connected with the missing plane,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei cautioned a news briefing in Beijing.

The coordinates were sent to the Australian command center, which is coordinating the latest phase of the multinational search, as well as to the Chinese icebreaker Snow Dragon, which is due to arrive in the vicinity on Tuesday. The sighting is just the latest unconfirmed report to emerge from the area in the last few days. Possible wreckage, measuring 22 meters (74 ft) by 13 meters (43 ft), was initially sighted on satellite imagery on March 20 but has still not been tracked down.

And just45 minutes ago the prime minister of Malaysia announced in Kuala Lumpur that there was no longer any doubt that the missing Malaysian Airlines jetliner, Flight 370, crashed in the Indian Ocean. Prime Minister Najib Razak said the conclusion was based on new analysis of data from an automated satellite system on the plane, performed by Inmarsat and the British national aviation safety agency. The analysis narrowed down the possible paths the Boeing 777 aircraft could have taken as it kept flying for hours after contact with ground controllers was lost on March 8, and it ruled out that the plane could have gone anywhere but the remote waters southwest of Australia, where there is no place the plane could have landed safely. Just before the prime minister spoke, Malaysia Airlines officials informed relatives of the missing passengers and crew gathered at a hotel near Kuala Lumpur, and sent text messages to those elsewhere.

Patricia McPherson

This is a “whatever-happened-to” post. I’ve been watching more of Star Trek TNG season 1 yesterday and I was watching episode 14 (Angel One) and one of the guest stars is a familiar figure from another 80s iconic tv show – Knight Rider (can we call that show semi-Scifi?).

Yes it’s Patricia McPherson aka Bonnie Barstow on Knight Rider. Probably one of my first celebrity crushes ever! Patricia McPherson was born in Washington where her father was a high ranking naval officer. She spent several years in France when her father was sent to Paris, and later studied advertising at the university in Florida and California. She then became a very successful model and worked as a magazine graphic artist.

After a few minor appearances she auditioned and got her first regular series role in Knight Rider. She appeared in season one and was absent from season two, but she was subsequently asked to return to the show, which she did in the season-three opener, remaining from 1984 until the end of the series in 1986 (she was in 62 episodes in total).

She made several guest roles on tv series in the 80s but she apparently quit acting in 1991 but did make one appearance in a 2009 episode of Warehouse 13. She got married in 1991 and has since been very active conserving wildlife and the forests. The last pic is from a 2011 convention.

Enter Sandman

What kind of sleeper are you? Do you drop off like a stone and awaken refreshed, or do you need pitch black and silence to drift off to dream?

These days I’m a pretty light sleeper. I get awakened by the slightest of noise or the movement and or if someone switched on a light……..in the building next to mine! Yes I am that bad.

I find it easier to fall asleep but waking up at odd hours of the night or early morning and then finding it difficult to go back to sleep. It doesn’t help that it’s been bloody hot & humid these days, especially the evenings and nights and what with mosquitoes buzzing in your ears and flying up your nostrils it just makes sleep harder. And once I wake up, no matter how tired I am, it’s so hard to go back to sleep so I find myself bleary eyed and zombie like (unless I make a huge pot of strong black coffee and have it fed to me intravenously) for most of the morning.

Naps are fine when I can manage one to freshen me up. I do need mostly dark (a little light far away is ok) and then I can drift off into my dreams which are so much more interesting than reality anyways.

The Hobbit : The Desolation Of Smaug

Based on J R R Tolkien’s 1937 novel The Hobbit and serving as a prequel to the Lord Of The Rings trilogy (also based on his novel The Lord Of The Rings), The Hobbit : The Desolation Of Smaug is the second movie in the Hobbit trilogy set and hence continues almost directly where we left things in The Hobbit : An Unexpected Journey. Joining Martin Freeman, Richard Armitage & Ian McKellan are Evangeline Lilly, Lee Pace, Luke Evans,  Orlando Bloom, James Nesbitt, and Ken Stott, and features Stephen Fry,  Sylvester McCoy, and Manu Bennett and ofcourse Benedict Cumberbatch voiced the dragon Smaug.

The beginning of the movie we see a scene from a year before the start of the events where Gandalf meets Thorin Oakenfield in a bar and persuades him to reunited the dwarfs and suggests that he needs a stealthy burglar to steal the jewel back from Smaug.

  • The dwarfs, Gandalf and Bilbo are on the run from the Orcs and our Hobbit sees a large bear like creature also tracking them, which prompts Gandalf to usher the men into a house of Beorn the skin-changer and seek his help. Beorn is the bear but in human form is much kinder and provides them with ponies that they ride on and reach Mirkwood the next day. Gandalf sees Black speech graffiti on some ruins coinciding with a telepathic message from  Galadriel  urging him to go to the High Fells, and abruptly leaves without explanation after warning them to remain on the path and wait for him before entering the Lonely Mountain. The dwarfs lose their way in the forest and are caught by giant spiders who spin them in their webs and Bilbo uses the one ring to try and free them. He drops it and brutally attacks a spider that stands in his way. Azog is summoned to Dol Guldur and instructs his son Bolg to take over the hunt for Thorin.
  • Just as the dwarfs are about to be overwhelmed by the spiders, the Woodelves led by Tauriel & Legolas arrive and decimate the spiders but take the dwarfs prisoners. Bilbo sneaks in unseen as he uses the ring and hears the Elvinking Thandruil offer to help Thorin in his quest in exchange for a portion of the Erebor’s wealth. Thorin refuses and so the Elves keep the dwarfs imprisoned in the underground halls until he relents. Bilbo appears and arranges their escape in empty wine barrels that are sent downstream but they are ambushed by the Orcs and in the escape Kili is wounded. Thranduil seals off his kingdom when he learns that an evil entity has returned and is amassing great power in the south, but Tauriel disobeys him and leaves to assist the dwarves, followed by Legolas. Meanwhile Gandalf meets Radagast in the Nazgul tombs and finds them empty, perhaps serving the purposes of this evil entity.
  • The dwarfs and Bilbo meet a man named Bard who smuggles them into the lake town of Esgaroth, which is where the descendants of Dale now reside. When they are found, Thorin promises them much of the wealth for their help and they are given a fond farewell but the injured Kili is forced to stay behind, tended by Fili, Oin and Bofur. Bard is a direct descendant of Dale and possess the last black arrow capable of killing Smaug. Meanwhile Gandalf, having send Radagast to warn Galadriel, goes to Dol Guldur and find the Orcs waiting for him and is attacked by Azog. While fending the attacks he meets the force of the Necromancer and they both duel and Gandalf is captured. the Necromancer reveals itself to be the Dark Lord Sauron.
  • The Dwarfs have made their way to Lonely Mountain and on not finding Gandalf there, Thorin proceeds and with Bilbo’s help finds the doorway into the place. Bilbo is sent to find & steal the Arkenstone but he ends up awakening Smaug. Back in the laketown the Orcs attack Bard’s family who are treating Kili and Fili, Oin and Bofur. Legolas & Tauriel arrive and fend off the Orcs killing them one by one and Tauriel stays to tend to Kili; the two then acknowledge the bond that has developed between one another. Legolas goes after Bolg and although he kills the other Orcs he is unable to stop him from escaping. Inside the Lonely Mountain, Bilbo and the Dwarves, now being hunted by Smaug, trick the dragon into rekindling the forges, and attempt to kill him by drowning him in molten gold. However, Smaug emerges and stumbles out of the mountain, determined to destroy Lake-town and its people for aiding the Dwarves. He then takes to the air as Bilbo watches in horror at what they have unleashed.

Fantastic advenure-fantasy flick (as all the other movies in this universe has been so far) and thoroughly entertaining and enjoyable. On a budget of $225 million the movie had pulled in $944,303,709 at the box office. I need to get the books as well to enjoy this further. 8.5 outta 10!

Arsenal 0 Chelsea 6

We went to Manchester City and got thrashed, we went to Liverpool and got thrashed. Now at Chelsea and this could be the worst thrashing ever. 0-6 at Chelsea. Congrats on 1000 games Wenger. The way he has dragged the reputation of this club – we’re looking like has been jokers to the title and we had led for so many weeks!

So the Gunners went to league leaders Chelsea and were down 2-0 in 10 minutes and then the most controversially stupid refereeing mistake happens. Referee Andre Marriner appeared to send off the wrong player when he dismissed Arsenal’s Kieran Gibbs. A penalty was awarded after Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain tipped Eden Hazard’s shot around a post with his hand but Gibbs was shown the red card. Oxlade-Chamberlain seemed to tell Marriner that he was the culprit but the original decision stood. Hazard converted the penalty to make it 3-0 before half-time. Left-back Gibbs seemed confused at receiving the red card, protesting his innocence, along with his team-mates, before leaving the field. Hazard’s shot was heading inches wide of goal before Oxlade-Chamberlain dived to his left to divert the ball with his fingertips. Marriner appeared to consult one of his assistants before awarding the penalty.

Arsene Wenger’s 1000th game in charge of Arsenal turned out to be an occasion to forget for the Frenchman as his team were crushed by title rivals Chelsea. Wenger you’ve had 1000 games not get the fuck outta Arsenal. The decision makers at the club are a joke – ask him to step down at season’s end of fire his ass you bunch of twats! What the fuck, you idiots? Look at the joke he has made  of himself and the club. Spend money and buy top class players and don’t look like losers.
