Around The World

What’s your dream tourist destination — either a place you’ve been and loved, or a place you’d love to visit? What about it speaks to you?

In India I guess the places I have never been to but would love to visit are Goa, Kashmir and the North East part of India. Especially Assam & Meghalay. Himachal Pradesh too Shimla & McLeod Ganj in particular.

Places I have been to that I’d love to visit again? I haven’t been to many places. Just the usual like Bangalore, Ooty & Koidaikanal and yes I’d love to see them again.

Place outside India – Canada, Canada, Canada. Top choice. Sweden, The UK, the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland, parts of the US, Spain, Ireland, Belgium, Japan, Australia and many many more places. we have a beautiful planet and there’s a lot of amazing places to see. I wanna see them all.

First Credit Card Ever

So I now have a credit card in my name – for the very first time at the age of 38! Yes I know that it is quite late for someone to have his first credit card but it isn’t the same in a country like India as it is for someone living in say Germany or Canada or the UK. You can go about your life without a credit card and not worry about things and I was of that same mentality until a few years ago.

I was often scared of signing up for one but I wasn’t eligible for one (without keeping a substantial deposit since I was in a lower pay grade until 2007) anyways for most of my life. I never even imagined that I would want one until sometime in 2008 when a former colleague came to my them place of employment and since he was working for a bank at that time, asked some of us if we wanted to apply for a credit card and I thought “Why not?”. Turns out that I got rejected, not because of my pay grade, but my line of work (BPO/Call centers) were blacklisted for anyone not an AM or above and I hadn’t gotten my AM papers yet. I was pissed off and when I got my AM papers I didn’t apply for a credit card.

Later in 2012 I really wanted to get a credit card and I applied for one with ICICI but I had the worst ever service from them and was finally denied one because of some goof up in the information that the local manager here provided me. I was so angry with them and almost lost my temper but I just about managed to keep things in check. Now with my new job in a better company I was an almost shoe-in to get a credit card with HDFC, with whom I also have a new bank account, and after 45 days and post some rigourous background check, they approved my application and I got the card yesterday and today I went to get the PIN changed. Finally, I have one in my name and this feels good. Honestly, I am mostly gonna use it for some online purchases and perhaps to buy a laptop and a new mobile on EMI.
