Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep

Sleep is one-third of our lives: write a post about it. Do you love naps? Have trouble falling alseep? Wish you could remember your dreams? Remember something especially vivid? Snuggle under a blanket, or throw the windows wide open? Meditate on sleep.

Who doesn’t love naps? Especially on cold, rainy afternoons. I have often felt that sleep is a waste and it would be great if I or everyone didn’t need any sleep at all as it’s often 6 to 8 hours of our day and that’s wasteful for a life that averages 70-80 years only. But yeah sleep is a wonderful thing too, especially when you really need it and all you can think of is, changing your clothes and hitting the cool sheets and laying head to pillow.

I also love to dream. I can day dream like the best of them and my dreams at night as I sleep are also quite weird and wonderful. I dream of traveling in spaceships across the galaxies and fighting evil aliens, battling ghosts, werewolves and zombies on earth, romantic and even sexual encounters with gorgeous women etc etc. Some of my dreams are forgotten easily but some have stayed with me for years even. It helps that I try and jot them down before I forget the details. I try to remember as much as I can.

These days due to my late evening-night shift I kind of get about 5-6 hours of sleep and it seems to be ok. Sometimes I get an hour or so of a nap in the afternoon post lunch before I have to get ready and get to work at 6:30 pm. That seems to refresh me a lot. I usually reach home at 4:30 am so sleep has to be immediate or I might wake up sleepy, tired and cranky.
