The New School
You get to redesign school as we know it from the ground up. Will you do away with reading, writing, and arithmetic? What skills and knowledge will your school focus on imparting to young minds?
I would keep the current format but reduce the workload for kids. I don’t think kids need to study all those subjects and content that they go through (now I am basing things on my experiences here in India) at such an early age. Why do kids have to get such a huge curriculum before they are 14-15? And why do you have to learn Calculus and so much other mathematical stuff in school when you are not going to use it anytime in your life afterwards?
So make it more fun to learn. Teach kids what they need to learn in life. Don’t just stick to the age old maths, science, English, Hindi, regional language, history and stuff. Although I do think they are all important, focus on stuff that they need to know at that age and also if they will go into those fields later on in life. A kid is overburdened in school and homework that by the time they are 17-18 they will get burned out. Hence currently I think a year off after high school might be a good idea for all kids in India. Let them relax after that excessive work load. Or give them less stuff to focus on. Less subjects before age 15 would be ideal. More inventive ways of learning.
And stay away from nonsensical superstitious and religious gobbledygook that is there just because the older generation does not know when to give up on trash handed down from their forefathers.
