Arsenal Transfer Saga
Rob Holding’s transfer from Bolton Wanderers to Arsenal will be completed in the next few days, Sky sources understand. The 20-year-old defender was left out of the Bolton line-up for their friendly match against Tranmere Rovers on Tuesday night. Bournemouth had been reported to have been interested in Holding but it now looks likely that the player will move to Arsenal. Holding has been with Bolton since the age of seven and made his senior debut in a Capital One Cup tie against Burton Albion last August. Capable of playing at either centre-back or full-back, Holding made 30 appearances last season and was named the club’s player of the year in a campaign which ended in relegation to Sky Bet League One.
He was called up to Gareth Southgate’s England Under-21 squad at the end of the season and was part of the successful side at the Toulon Tournament in France. Arsenal have signed two players during the current transfer window, midfielder Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach and striker Takuma Asano from Sanfrecce Hiroshima. But are these the signings the fans were clamoring for and desperately were looking forward for? Xhaka is a good signing as he is a top class midfielder as seen in the recent Euros but when the club needs a proven, prolific striker Wenger goes and signs an unknown in Asano who is not gonna feature for the main side for atleast a year or two!! And then for a defender he gets a youth player who hasn’t played at the first team level, though he has promise! This is Wenger’s answer! He is a moron.
