To Sleep, Perchance To Dream

Sleep is one-third of our lives: write a post about it. Do you love naps? Have trouble falling alseep? Wish you could remember your dreams? Remember something especially vivid? Snuggle under a blanket, or throw the windows wide open? Meditate on sleep.

Sleep, is comfort at the end of a long day or a tiring week. I used to take naps when I was in my 20s but I started thinking that napping in the afternoon is not a good thing/habit to have so I forced myself to do so. When I am at home during the weekends or on a holiday I tend not to nap in the afternoon unless I haven’t slept well the previous night and did not get my 40 winks in and therefore I am tired and sleepy. Those days I will end up sleeping for an hour or so in the afternoon.

Now when I am ill that is a different matter all together. A really high fever and a bad cold and cough followed by a breathing issue can me feel very weak and rest is what I need. Then I could sleep for a few hours in a day other than my actual bedtime. I have done it a lot but not that often. I just I don’t take naps that much. Sometimes I feel that I wish I could, it would refresh me. But my brain is very active and easily distracted so I tend to think about a lot of things and this keeps me from falling asleep unless I am really sleepy and/or tired.

Lust

Lust is a strong emotion or feeling. The lust can take any form such as the lust for sex, lust for expensive objects (extravagance) or the lust for power. It can take such mundane forms as the lust for food as distinct from the need for food. Lust is a psychological force producing intense wanting for an object, or circumstance fulfilling the emotion.

I lust for sex, I lust for certain women who appeal to me, I lust for wealth and power and the freedom to spend lots of money on whatever it is that I want to do! I lust for good food and wine, vodka, beer and other types of alcohol. I lust for the richness of chocolate or ice cream. I lust for more and more and I am not ashamed of it.

Screw the sins bullshit, screw the idea that lust causes suffering. In English-speaking countries, the term “lust” is often associated with sexual desire – I want sex, I crave sex and I lust after sex! I want it so much and I want orgies. I want a two-some, or a threesome or a 4some! Me and 4 women! 4 gorgeous, voluptuous women who are eager and willing. I trust my lust and I am not ashamed of it. Fuck you if you look down upon me. You can keep your frowning with yourself.

All people lust. Few act upon it. Even fewer admit it.

Sweeping Motions

What’s messier right now — your bedroom or you computer’s desktop (or your favorite device’s home screen)? Tell us how and why it got to that state.

My computer’s desktop is relatively spic and span and spartan compared to my bedroom. Well, actually my bedroom is not that messy when you first see it because the mess is pushed to one side or a corner or is inside a cupboard and well hidden away from prying eyes.

I have a bunch of stuff that is in my cupboard all catching dust. Stuff I don’t need. Stuff on a chair that sits in one corner that I should have gotten kept away in a bookshelf or cupboard a long, long time ago. I have stuff on my bed, pushed to one corner. I have a plastic bag filled with stuff I should throw away sitting in my cupboard. And ofcourse I need to clean my shelf but that is another thing – it’s only dust! And I clean once every few weeks anyway.

A good cleaning will work wonders and everything will look great again.

Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets is a 2017 French science fiction action-adventure film written and directed by Luc Besson and co-produced by Besson and his wife, Virginie Besson-Silla. The film is based on the French science fiction comics series Valérian and Laureline, written by Pierre Christin and illustrated by Jean-Claude Mézières. It stars Dane DeHaan as Valerian and Cara Delevingne as Laureline, with Clive Owen, Rihanna, Ethan Hawke, Herbie Hancock, Kris Wu, and Rutger Hauer in supporting roles. Besson independently crowd-sourced and personally funded Valerian and, with a production budget between $177–209 million, it is both the most expensive European and independent film ever made.

Mankind’s progress in space exploration is shown where they form a large space station called Alpha and gradually they meet representatives of various space faring alien races throughout the years and centuries, forming alliances. By the 28th century, Alpha has grown in size to accommodate millions of creatures from all these races, working in several various habitats. Valerian and his partner Laureline are special agents of the human police forces. The story is about how these two are sent on a mission to retrieve a rare object that belongs to a race of peaceful aliens in order to cover up an earthling military act that wiped out almost all of that alien race and their planet 30 years ago. Valerian was chosen by an alien princess just as she died to receive some of her memories, as she sent them out through space & time in a burst of energy.

What we get in this movie is a visual feast with weird and wonderful looking alien, a beautiful alien planet and beach, some wonderful gadgets and tech and a fun, fast paced ride. Stunning backgrounds of these alien worlds, the latest in visual effects and green screen and computer wizardry all combine with a rollercoaster ride of epic space opera proportions that puts to shame other such attempts. With jellyfish that eat memories, aquatic monsters the size of cathedrals, bazaar so bizarre its exists simultaneously in different dimensions, a creature named Bubble that can enter you and take other forms at will, to awesome spacecrafts, the peaceful alien race using pearls, that generate large amounts of energy, from their beautiful oceans to use for their needs and feed to a native cute animal that eats a pearl and spontaneously poops out replicas in the hundreds – what an imaginative world this is!

Sadly, I knew it would not be a success as the films lacks character, chemistry and story. The charisma is lacking from the leads and character development isn’t really there. A small cameo from an actor of the status of Rutger Hauer didn’t help, as didn’t the roguish brief appearance from Ethan Hawke in a totally non-Ethan Hawke role. Why do directors want rappers and pop singers to be actors? Ugh, Rhianna is terrible and I was glad that she was mostly in her character’s actual form – a squid-octopus-watery creature! One ridiculous jelly fish incident and the largest hat in the galaxy moment also was detrimental to the film. Luc Besson doesn’t want serious scifi and while his The Fifth Element worked awesomely well it didn’t with Lucy or Valerian (even if Lucy did become a box office hit, it was critically panned)

Bedtime Stories

What was your favorite book as a child? Did it influence the person you are now?

I never had a book that I read before I went to sleep as a kid. I read a lot of comics and no one ever read a story to me when I was a kid to make me go to sleep. However, ever since I became an adult or atleast by the age of 22-23, I have had this story in my head. I think about it before I go to bed and it’s last thing I think before I drift off into dreamland.

I dream and day dream of my futuristic world set 7000 years in the future, where mankind along with most of the animals and birds have relocated to 10 large planets and 7 moons in a distant star system. Everyone gets along because man’s needs and most wants are met. Everyone has a nice home to call their own, money is no longer an issue and food and drink is a plenty and every cat and dog have their own family and home to take care of them.  The rest of the animal kingdom have enclosed natural habitats with protection so they are out of danger and man will not encroach on them either.

Illness & diseases have been wiped away. No accidents, medical care is easily available to all and people work to better themselves and to gain knowledge and because they enjoy it and want to work – not for money or in a rat race. Space exploration is as easy as getting into a car and driving to another city – longer ofcourse and in a starship. People take vacations by going to another planet or moon and exploring. Suits are available to protect you from the elements on other worlds. We are out there, making friends with other alien races and avoiding ones that are hostile. It seems like a wonderful time to be in. And I want that!

Lemar In, Elneny Out?

ARSENAL are closing in on a £45million deal for Monaco star Thomas Lemar. The Gunners have been desperate to land the French international and SunSport understands the Premier League side have finally made a breakthrough. Arsene Wenger has already had bids rejected for the 21-year-old as Monaco were demanding £80m for a player they signed from Caen two years ago. Monaco were hoping the huge numbers quoted would deter Arsenal and help them keep Lemar for another season on the premise his value would increase further to spark a bidding war.

SunSport revealed earlier this month Lemar has already agreed terms with Arsenal and told the French champions to allow him to move to North London this summer. Lemar will be Wenger’s third addition at the Emirates this summer as the French coach looks to lead the club back into title contention. Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac have been recruited and the arrival of the Monaco star will be a huge boost for the Gunners, who would take their summer spending to £97m. Lemar featured for Monaco in their last pre-season game at Benfica and will hope to get the green light to complete his switch to the Premier League before they face Paris-Saint Germain in Morocco this Saturday in the Trophee des champions. It had been thought Monaco would stop their player exodus and fight to keep the wide man for their title defence next season. But the winger is set to follow Bernardo Silva, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Benjamin Mendy, Valere Germain and Kylian Mbappe through the Stade Louis II exit door.

Meanwhile the Gunners are in talks with Galatasaray over a £10million move for Mohamed Elneny, according to reports. The Egyptian midfielder joined Arsene Wenger’s side just 18 months ago but already they are open to him leaving. Fotospor claim Galatasaray’s sporting director Cenk Ergun has been in London looking to finalise a deal. And the Turkish side could now be in pole position to sign Elneny after he rejected a £10m bid from Leicester, as revealed by SunSport. Elneny has a contract at the Emirates until 2020. But he made just 14 Premier League appearances last season – with only eight of those being starts. Elneny joined the Gunners from Basel in January last year for a fee of £5m. Talk of his exit comes with Arsenal facing a series of switches in the middle of the park this summer.

Jinder Mahal

I haven’t been watching WWE or any wrestling since 2007. I used to be such a big fan of the sports entertainment shows like WWE and WCW (which for a while I even preferred to WWE) but events from 2007 soured my taste for the wrestling showbiz. Still I kept in touch for a while until completely ignoring it and almost forgetting to keep tabs on stuff. I just found out a few minutes ago that a wrestler of Indian origin is the current WWE Champion. So after a stint as a promoter for the Great Khali and being released from his contract, Jinder came back in 2016, improving his body condition and received a push after WrestleMania 33, culminating with a win over Randy Orton at Backlash in May 2017 for the WWE Championship, making him the 50th WWE Champion and the first wrestler of Indian descent to win the title.

Jinder Mahal is the stage name for Yuvraj Singh Dhesi a Canadian of Punjabi origins from Calgary, Alberta, Canada who began his professional wrestling career at the Martial Arts Fitness Center in Calgary, Alberta, training with Rick Bognar. At Money In the Bank in May, with WWE Hall of Famers Ric Flair and ‘Cowboy’ Bob Orton Jr. at ringside, Mahal defeated Orton, successfully retaining his WWE Championship in the process. When an irate Orton demanded another match, Shane McMahon granted it, but Mahal was allowed to choose the stipulation, and made it a Punjabi Prison match. During this promo, Mahal referred to The Great Khali as his “personal hero” and ignored their past animosity. At Battleground, Mahal defeated Orton to retain the WWE Championship after interference from Khali, who made a surprise return to WWE.

Three Things Lover

Three things you want in a relationship.

  • Love – ofcourse, what’s a relationship without love. It’s all about love and companionship and the need to be together and grow old together. Do things together, even the simple things like shopping, picking out clothes, things for the home, dinners, grocery shopping, driving to and from places, reading together, watching movies and going to bed.
  • Loyalty – loyalty and faithfulness is essential in any relationship. Fidelity to the one that you love is a mandate and I think that is the trust that your relationship is based on. If you have chosen someone to be your spouse and your partner then you owe it to yourself and to them to be faithful and loyal.
  • Humour – there is no point in being too serious as no matter how serious you take life, you will never get outta of it alive! I want humour in my life everyday and I refuse to be too serious that I can’t laugh. I want to crack jokes and make you laugh and I like silly, dirty jokes a lot! And in my relationship it’s not necessary that the woman is very funny as long as she loves to laugh and can laugh at my jokes and tolerates my groan inducing puns as well as looks forward to me making her laugh. That is important as well.

The Boss Baby

The Boss Baby is a 2017 American computer-animated comedy film loosely based on the 2010 picture book of the same name written and illustrated by Marla Frazee and produced by DreamWorks Animation. It was directed by Tom McGrath and written by Michael McCullers, and stars the voices of Alec Baldwin as the title character, Miles Bakshi, Steve Buscemi, Jimmy Kimmel, Lisa Kudrow, and Tobey Maguire.

So apparently I did not know where babies come from. Babies come from some kind of heavenly abode which has a sort of factory kind of thing where babies are separated as either to go to a family or to go to management. Our main character, Theodore Lindsey Templeton (a.k.a The Boss Baby) is one such baby. After he has been powdered on his bum, given baby booties, a pacifier and diapers the machine judges him to be management material and not suited for a family as he does not giggle joyfully when tickled. He is later sent to a family, the Templetons, and pretends to be a baby. The older son Tim is surprised when an infant wearing a business suit shows up in a taxi at his house, and Ted and Janice call him Tim’s little brother. Tim is envious of the attention the baby receives, not to mention suspicious when the infant acts odd around him.

Tim soon finds out that Ted can talk so he introduces himself as “The Boss”. Seeing an opportunity to be rid of him, Tim decides to record a conversation between the Boss Baby and other toddlers who are at Tim’s house for a meeting (under the guise of a play date by the parents) to do something about how puppies are receiving more love than babies. The Boss Baby and the other infants catch Tim with the recording, and the tape is terminated after the Boss Baby threatens to tear up Tim’s favorite stuffed animal. With no evidence to support him, Tim is grounded by his parents for his actions. Ted calls a truce with Tim when he sees him sad and crying and transports him to Baby Corp, a place where infants with adult-like minds work to preserve infant love everywhere. The Boss Baby explains that he was sent to see why puppies are getting more love than infants. He has infiltrated Tim’s residence because his parents work for Puppy Co., which is unleashing a new puppy on the day that employees take their children to work.

The Boss Baby stays intelligent by drinking a “Secret Baby Formula” that enables a baby to act like an adult. However, if a baby does not drink it after a period of time, he or she becomes a regular baby. When they overhear Boss Baby’s boss threaten to fire him for not bringing in information, thereby stranding him at the Templetons, he and Tim agree to work together to keep that from happening. Tim’s parents take them to Puppy Co. for “take your child to work day”. While there, they slip away and find what they think is the plans for a “Forever Puppy”, but it turns out to be a trap set by founder Francis E. Francis. They discover that Francis used to be the head of Baby Corp. and Boss Baby’s idol but was forced out when it was discovered that his lactose intolerance kept the secret formula from working properly. Vowing revenge, Francis founded Puppy Corp. and intends to have the Forever Puppies overshadow babies by stealing Boss Baby’s serum bottle and infecting the puppies with it. Tim’s parents go with Francis to Las Vegas, and Francis has his brother Eugene pose as Tim and Boss Baby’s babysitter to keep them from interfering.

Without a steady flow of formula to keep his intelligence in check, Boss Baby starts becoming a normal baby. Despite this, he and Tim evade the “babysitter” long enough to get to the airport but are too late to intercept Tim’s parents. After sneaking on a plane for Elvis impersonators bound for Vegas, they stall Francis’ presentation when Eugene unwittingly gives away their plan.

Furious at their interference, Francis locks Tim’s parents up so he can burn them with exhaust from a rocket used to launch the Forever Puppies. Tim and Boss Baby push him off of a ledge, making Francis tumble into the formula. Boss Baby opens the rocket to let the dogs out so they can save Tim’s parents. He returns to baby state while on the rocket, but Tim sings to him with the family song to show his appreciation, causing him to jump off the rocket before it launches. Boss Baby gets promoted and leaves. Tim goes back to being an only child, but Tim and Boss Baby miss each other. Boss Baby returns to the Templeton family as a regular baby named Theodore Lindsey. Back in the present, Tim, who finished the story, is now an adult and the father of an infant daughter who acts like Theodore did when he was Boss Baby.

I found it hilarious, neat, cool, adorable and sweet! I enjoyed it a lot and I almost want to be a baby again! Yeah! 8.5 outta 10!

I’m On The Night Train

Well we are back to a late evening shift once again. I will be working 8:30 pm to 5:30 am for this week. Well, atleast the next three days. Maybe Thursday and Friday I will move back to a 6:30 pm to 3:30 am shift, which is what I would like to do. Hmmm having said that a 3:30 pm to 12:30 is preferable but I guess it’s better to this shift instead just because of work reasons.

I don’t like coming home late or rather that early in the morning. This shift means that I will reach home by around 6am. I usually will buy some vada or pathiri from one of the tea shops next to my building and have them at home just before I go to bed. And usually I am able to sleep for 5 to 6 hours which is tough for me to do during the day. I will wake up around 12 or 12:30 pm and brush my teeth and have lunch. Then it will be back to bed where I will watch some tv shows until say 5 or 6pm. After which it will be a coffee, internet time, shave, shit and a shower before slowly getting ready.

It will always seem like I have more time for myself during this shift but I dunno. Is it just a feeling? I hope this shift is short lived and I can get back to a 3:30 pm or a 6:30 pm shift.

Six Of One, Half A Dozen Of The Other

Write a six-word story about what you think the future holds for you, and then expand on it in a post.

Lonely nights eating takeout dinners alone.

I am 40 years old, about to turn 41. I am a single dude and not seeing anyone at the moment. I haven’t dated in ages and I guess I could try and go the arranged marriage route but I won’t since a) I don’t like family arranging a marriage / life partner for me and b) when you go that route 99% of the time they look into astrological stuff and I know that is bullshit so it’s not for me.

So it’s been a lonely path that I take. I don’t even think I am lucky enough to find my girl and I guess, atleast at a subconscious level I kind of resigned myself to being alone. Even by the time I was 35 or so. Once my parents are gone, in 5 to 10 years (more I hope) then it’s just gonna be me alone in this apartment. Other than work, the most I will have to look forward to is a few days when I go out and roam around, go to a mall, catch a movie and eat at a nice place. Maybe I will even do a little traveling once I save some money.

But for the most part it’s gonna me work to home and home to work. It means a lot of nights looking for a movie or tv series to watch before I go to bed. It means a lot of dinners for one as I collect the take out menu from restaurants nearby. In my 20s I would have done anything to have my own place and live the way I want to and have dinners on my own but as I dwell into the 40s and think of when I am completely alone, it makes me sad. But I guess that’s what’s in store for me.
