The Prodigy

The Prodigy is a 2019 American-Canadian horror film directed by Nicholas McCarthy, and starring Taylor Schilling, Peter Mooney, Colm Feore and Jackson Robert Scott. The plot centers around a child whose disturbing behavior signals that an evil, possibly supernatural being has taken control of him, forcing his parents to investigate whether sinister forces are involved.

The film is about this young boy who is more than what he seems. In rural Ohio sserial killer Edward Scarka, who abducts and later kills women, is shot dead by the police after one of his victims escapes and alerts the authorities. Before he dies he recites a chant or spell in a foreign language. Several states away in Pennsylvania married couple Sarah and John give birth to their son, Miles. Pretty soon they are made aware that their son is a prodigy showing extreme wisdom and intelligence from a young age, and begins speaking fluently before he is even a toddler.

However things aren’t all good as Miles starts behaving in disturbing fashions attacking a classmate with a wrench, talking gibberish in his sleep and scares his babysitter – and later claims no memory of it.  Sarah brings Miles to psychiatrist Elaine Strasser, and turns over a tape recording of him talking apparent gibberish in his sleep. Elaine gives the tape to a colleague, Arthur Jacobson, an expert on rebirth and reincarnation. Arthur reveals that the gibberish Miles spoke is in fact Hungarian, and that the words translate to “I’ll cut your eyes out and watch you die, whore.” Sarah is unwilling to believe Arthur’s assertion that an unsettled spirit wants control of the boy’s body. At home, the family’s dog goes missing, and John becomes infuriated when he finds that Miles has been recording the couple’s bedroom with a baby monitor. John leaves to stay with his brother, leaving Sarah alone with Miles. Sarah later finds a swarm of flies in the house and discovers the family’s dismembered dog in the basement. Miles apologizes, explaining that someone is invading his dreams every night, and that he has to “make room.”

Sarah brings Miles to Arthur who hypnotizes him and the individual explains that his parents were Hungarian immigrants. The session goes awry when Miles threatens to accuse Arthur of drugging and molesting him, which prompts Arthur to end the session. Afterward, Arthur finds “Scarka” carved into his leather couch from the boy’s fingernails. He calls Sarah and explains that he believes Miles’s body is being possessed by Edward Scarka, attempting to return to continue his killing spree. Sarah researches Scarka and finds out that the killer died just minutes before Miles was born and that his parents were Hungarian immigrants. John and Sarah decide to have Miles incarcerated, but Miles stabs John en route to the facility, causing him to crash; John goes into a coma as a result of the accident. In Miles’s room, Sarah uncovers a cache of newspaper clippings about Edward’s crimes, as well as a book by Margaret St. James, Edward’s final victim, who escaped and led authorities to him.

Sarah realizes that Edward, through Miles, needs to get to Margaret and decides to kill Margaret herself, ending Edward’s need for Miles’s body. She drugs Miles with sleeping pills and the two drive to Margaret’s rural farmhouse. However once she confronts the women she is unable to kill her. Miles though comes barging in and attacks Margaret with a butcher knife, stabbing and disemboweling her. Sarah chases Miles outside to console him, believing Edward has left his body now that his final deed is complete. However, he reveals that Edward has taken full control, and Miles’s soul has already been vanquished. Horrified, Sarah attempts to shoot him but before she can, a farmer shoots her with a rifle, killing her. Some time later, Miles is taken to live in a temporary foster home until John is discharged from the hospital. In his new bedroom, Miles stares into a mirror, which reflects back the image of Edward.

The film was released in the United States on February 8, 2019, by Orion Pictures. It has grossed over $19 million and received mixed reviews from critics, who praised the performances but criticized the story. It’s a unique storyline of reincarnation and a killer possessing a boy to kill the woman who got away. I like the acting but the movie isn’t that good overall. I give it a 6.5 outta 10!

Koscienly Agrees Terms With Rennes

Laurent Koscielny has agreed personal terms with Rennes as he continues to push for a move away from Arsenal this summer. Frenchman Koscielny has made over 350 appearances for Arsenal since joining the club from Lorient in 2010 and was made club captain following the retirement of Per Mertesacker last year. Despite holding that position, the defender refused to travel with Arsenal on their pre-season tour of the United States, opting instead to remain in London to force through a summer transfer. Koscielny has his heart set on a return to France, with Bordeaux, Rennes and Lyon among the clubs said to be interested in securing his services over the coming weeks.

According to French outlet RMC, Rennes are in the driving seat to sign Koscielny after agreeing personal terms with the 33-year-old over a summer switch. Rennes finished tenth in Ligue 1 last season and are coached by the highly-rated Julien StĂ©phan. The situation has left Arsenal shocked and furious as club captain Koscielny still has a year left on his current contract. Former boss Arsene Wenger, who signed Koscielny almost a decade ago, admits he is ‘very surprised’ by the situation unfolding in north London.

Current manager Unai Emery, meanwhile, says three players are in with a chance of being named as the next Arsenal captain. Even if Koscielny fails to force through a summer move, he will likely be stripped of the captaincy before the start of next season.

Younger Days Blues

What was the hardest part of being a kid?

The hardest part of being a kid was being looked at as just a kid and therefore your opinions don’t really matter. Adults, no matter if they didn’t have a fucking clue, still held all the trump cards. And not just your parents but assorted uncles, aunts, grandmothers and their age group people had the final say. Even when it came to matters that were clearly none of their business and whether they knew shit about things.

That’s why sometimes when we had pushy relatives at our house they got their way at our expense. Decisions that my dad and mom ought to make with me and my sister in mind were in the hands of others. That was a bummer and it would be only in my early 20s when I could stand up and tell people that their opinions are like penises – it’s great to have one but most of the time, please stop waving it around and shoving it in other people’s faces! Just fucking keep it to yourself!

Ofcourse I might have said it much nicer than that but they got the idea!

Getting Your Band Out There

Playing in a band brings with it many great experiences. If you are just playing together in a basement every now and then, that is a great thing to do in itself, and there is no particular reason that you will need to make it any more than that. But sometimes it gets to a point where you do really feel that you should take it further, and when that happens it is an instinct which you might want to listen to. Even if you don’t become famous as such, you can hope to gain some popularity by focusing on a few key things, and that is absolutely worth doing. In this article, we are going to take a look at some of the best ways in which you can hope to get your band out there in the world.

Perform, Perform, Perform

The most important thing you can possibly do as a band that wants to get out there is perform! The more that you perform, the more that people will actually hear your music, which is what it’s all about. If you are putting more effort into marketing your band than actually playing, you are doing something wrong. You want to be playing at a different venue every week ideally, as that is how you will actually be able to let people know about your music in the real world. Of course, those venues can be absolutely anything, and they don’t have to be hugely significant or anything. Starting out at open mic nights is a great way to go, and there is a proud tradition of that, so that is something to consider. You might also think about trying out small local venues and building your way up. However you do it, as long as you are performing regularly, you are doing the most important thing you can to make your band known.

Get A Manager

If you want to be able to just focus on the music without having to worry about the business side of things, then you might want to think about getting a manager. With a manager on board, you can just offload all of that on to them, and you can set about just playing and performing and writing music without having to think about it. You might have a vision in mind, which you should express to your manager, but as long as you are just letting them get on with it, that should pretty much be all you need to do. You might feel that your band is too small for a manager, but that is almost certainly not the case. If you are worried about paying them, then remember that most will work solely on commission – which is why the partnership will tend to work so well, as they will have a very good reason to get your band out there as best as they can. Find a manager, and it could just be the best thing you have ever done for your band’s future.

Network

Part of the reason that you want to perform at as many events as you can is that you will meet a lot of people this way. Other bands and musicians, managers and agents, the owners and managers of venues and so on – all of these are useful people to come into contact with. You never know when speaking to someone might have a positive desired effect much further down the line, so this is why networking is always a hugely valuable thing for you to do. The more that you spend time in the world that you want to be a part of, the more that you will be a part of it. It really is that simple, and eventually it will translate into people actually knowing your name and what you do, so it is hugely valuable for that. Get networking in whatever way you can, and you will find that it starts to add up and make a considerable difference to your future.

Share Some Music Free

There is much to be said for the act of sharing out some music for free as a means of providing a taster for people. In a way, that is what you are doing when you perform, but there are plenty of other ways to do it too. You don’t need to go out to a venue to perform, for a start. You could play from your home, your studio, your basement or wherever, and simply use a live streaming service to allow people to watch it online. If you advertise it well in advance, this could be a really useful way of getting more people on board to come and listen to your music. You can also share out some files online of your music which people can share around. This is a great way to curry favour with music fans while also getting your music out there much more quickly, so it’s definitely worth it for that reason.

Get Marketing

You should at some point think about doing all the business stuff that really works – if you don’t already have a manager doing it for you. You need to think of your band as a business in some respects, which means knowing how to market yourselves. These days, that means getting on social media and building a following, which you can do fairly easily as long as you post regularly, interact with people lots, and link out to your own website occasionally. You will find that over time this helps to raise your profile, and it is something that all bands have to do these days, so it’s definitely worth thinking about. Marketing in this way can be incredibly powerful.

By taking advantage of these things, you should find that you are able to get your band out there much more effectively, so that is something that you should really think about. If you can do all this in one go, you will make it even more likely that your band gets well-known. Who knows: maybe one day soon, it will even be a household name.

New Phone – Oppo F11 Pro

I know back in May I said that I was not looking to buy a new phone. At that time the brand new Avengers limited version of the Oppo F11 Pro was released to the public. The Oppo F11 pro itself was new having been released in April to the Indian public and launched in March.

But in the weeks since then I have looked at a few phones and wanted to make the change. I love the OnePlus 5T and she is a beast but it was getting to the point that I wanted to move on. So I looked at options and the F11 kept coming up as if to say to me “Come here big boy! Come and get me!”. The seductive calls were too much for me and I looked at exchange options on both Amazon India and Flipkart.

I checked out a few other phones as well and almost waited for the Realme X which is a solid beauty herself and has options for 8GB RAM but it doesn’t have expandable memory which was a downer and made me opt for the Oppo F11 Pro instead. It was neck and neck for a while but Oppo won out. Flipkart had the better exchange deal for my OnePlus 5T and I paid the rest on my new credit card. And now I am eagerly waiting for the Flipkart delivery guy to reach my apartment so I can get my hands on my new phone.

Down Time At Home

So my foot was getting better but then it got worse. On Wednesday morning I was feeling much more at ease and thought that the swelling on my right foot was going down. It didn’t help that I was wearing shoes to go to work and the swollen foot feels very tight when I have to stuff it inside my shoe. Mom came home on Wednesday morning along with my sister and basically ordered me to partially fill a small bucket with hot, salted water and dip my foot inside it.

So I did but the bucket’s bottom was smaller and my foot was lodged in it so tightly. When I finally took my foot out it was swollen bigger and it looked and felt much worse than before! And it hurt like a motherfucker. I was so pissed off. When it was 5 pm and time to go to work, I had to basically stuff my foot into my shoe and it was painful to walk and even just stand or sit. I struggled through until 3:30 am and then hobbled my way over to get an Uber and come home. It felt so good just to take my shoes and socks off. I applied a lot of pain relief spray on my foot but sleep was hard to come by.

The next day I had to go to the hospital. I waited till my sister and father came home as I needed a pair of slippers and they bought one for me on their way over. Finally by 5pm I went to the hospital and got my foot looked at. I had medicines for 3 days and took leave for Thursday and today. I have kept my foot up most of the time since then, over a large pillow and I am watching movies to pass the time. I should be ok by Sunday or Monday at the most.

Escape Room

Escape Room is a 2019 American psychological horror mystery film directed by Adam Robitel and written by Bragi F. Schut and Maria Melnik. The film stars Taylor Russell, Logan Miller, Deborah Ann Woll, Tyler Labine, Jay Ellis, Nik Dodani and Yorick van Wageningen, and follows a group of people who are sent to navigate a series of escape rooms, only to discover that their fates are tied to whether or not they can beat them in time.

At the start of the film, viewers are given a short background on some of the players. Viewers learn that Zoey is a shy physics student who is given a task to do something exciting over Thanksgiving weekend by her Physics professor. Jason is a successful and wealthy daytrader. Ben is a stockboy who hopes to be promoted to customer service to earn more money to support his mom. Danny is a video game enthusiast who loves escape rooms and has successfully escaped many escape rooms. Zoey, Ben, Jason, Amanda, Mike and Danny all receive mysterious boxes, each with a different greeting that describes/praises them. All of them think the boxes come from someone close to them. Zoey is convinced by her roommate that the box is from her Physics professor. Ben is convinced his boss left the box for him. Jason is convinced his boss Mr. Ackerman gave him the box as the gift he mentioned earlier in a phone call.

As all the players try to unlock their respective puzzle boxes, they find invitations to the Minos Escape Room Facility for a chance to win $10,000 inside the boxes. At the building they are asked to surrender their phones and are led to a big room where a voice behind a screen Danny manages to sneak a hidden second phone into the escape room with him, telling Amanda that it helps kill the boredom in the waiting room. After all the players are in the waiting room, a woman’s voice tells them that the Game Master will arrive shortly over the intercom. The players start to make some small talk, and Danny tells the other players the good reviews that were left on this escape room. Ben, having a smoking habit, tries to get out of the room to smoke but realizes the door handle is fake. The players discover they are locked inside and the waiting room is part of the escape room.

They have to escape the burning waiting room, just in time through a hidden crawl space, before the room burns up. They then enter what looks like a winter cabin and find only one jacket between them through clues and exit to a large room that resembles a winter landscape. Danny falls through the ice and is the first to die and the rest wait to get a key out of a block of ice and then enter an upside down billiards bar, where they are transported upwards. They have to unlock a safe to get a billiards ball that can open the next door and using clues that are relayed to Amanda, she is able to get the ball out and hands it to the others but dies as she falls from a piece of the floor giving away. The next room is set up as a hospital ward and the room will be filled with poisonous gas when the timer runs out. They have to lower someone’s heart rate while strapped onto an EKG to open the crawl space to the next room and Mike dies while trying this. Zoey breaks all the cameras in the room but succumbs to the gas so only Jason & Ben manage to escape to the next room.

The next room is covered in optical illusions and strobe lights, they are drugged with a hallucinogen that causes them to believe they are melting. The room also starts to physically spin and they have to get the injectial vial with the antidote in it for only person. Jason & Ben fight for it and Jason breaks Ben’s leg. Ben eventually pushes Jason into the desk and kills Jason. Ben injects himself with the antidote and falls through the hatch into an elaborate study room. While this is happening the hospital room) armed Minos employees enter in hazmat gear, listing the number of dead people and trying to dispose of them in 20 minutes. While the employees are distracted by the oxygen mask hanging from the ceiling that Zoey was trying to reach, Zoey surprisingly gets up and incapacitates them with an IV stand. Zoey, having miraculously survived from the poisonous gas in the room, seizes a gun, and escapes into a maintenance area. Ben manages to solve the next clue in the study room before he is crushed to death and barely manages to escape and finds himself in The control room which is the last room in the series.

The pictures of all the other players are marked by (X) to symbolize their elimination. He is met by the Game Master, who has controlled the game as designed by the Puzzle Maker. The true nature of the contest is that players with a shared experience – college athletes, savants, lone survivors, celebrities, etc. – are lured into the game, and wealthy viewers bet on the survivors in savage amusement. The Game Master tries to kill Ben by strangling him as Ben is distracted by lighting a cigarette, but Zoey arrives and they kill him. Zoey takes Ben to a hospital and arrives back at the building later in the day with the cops but all evidence at the facility has disappeared. The detective thinks that all that Zoey had said was an illusion as Ben had 3 drugs in him. They dismiss their experiences are illusions caused by drugs and drive off. 6 months later a recovered Ben and Zoey meet Zoey shows Ben newspaper articles that passed the other players’ deaths as everyday accidents.

Reports in papers show that Mike died of a heart attack in a bathroom in Union Station, Amanda falls and dies in a climbing accident, Jason was thrown off his bike on highway I-64 with DMT found in his system, and Danny drowns in Lake Michigan. Zoey tells Ben that there would have been articles to cover up their deaths too if they died. Zoey has tracked Minos to a building in Manhattan and the two decided to go there However, Minos and the mysterious Puzzle Maker are already preparing to make their flight a new deadly game with only a 4% chance of survival. Meaning they have more power, wealth and protection that anyone suspects.

Escape Room was released in the United States on January 4, 2019, by Sony Pictures Entertainment, and was a box office success, grossing over $155 million worldwide. The cast and acting is good and I was quite interested and entertained throughout. The sequel is expected to be out in the early part of 2020. I give this movie a solid 8 outta 10!

Laws That You Should Know About

There are some laws that make total sense. Don’t drive drunk, don’t harm other people, but there are some laws that you might not believe. It pays, in general, to be aware of recent law changes for anything you feel might affect you, but for these – you’re probably pretty safe.

Fishy Issues

In the UK, try not to walk around holding a fish, while looking suspicious. According to the Salmon Act of 1986, you can’t handle fish in a matter other than ‘normal’. The list of seafood that is included in this law are:

  • Salmon
  • Trout
  • Eels
  • Smelt
  • Freshwater Fish
  • Lampreys

So, on the off chance, you were about to head to the UK and look a bit shifty with any of the above fish – think again.

Aliens

Flying a UFO over Chñteauneuf-du-Pape, France is of course just not the done thing. In 1954 after a local person saw some ‘deep-sea divers’ leaving a ‘cigar-shaped’ spaceship, the mayor immediate made a rule.

“Any aircraft, known as flying saucer or flying cigar, which should land on the territory of the community will be immediately held in custody.”

If you are currently considering visiting the south of France in your UFO, then you’d better reconsider – or you might find yourself in custody.

Moo Point

It’s the point a cow makes! However, there is a law that is similar to the ‘don’t drink and drive’ one, with a small twist. There is a licensing act of 1872 that makes it illegal to ride a cow while drunk in Scotland. It has a hefty fine of £200 but can also land you in jail for a year. While it might be one of the funniest laws you have heard of, it is probably with good reason. Although to date, no one has been found guilty of it. Sot the drunk cow riding happened prior to the date the act was created.

We Mustache You To Stop!

Okay, that was a bad joke. But, seriously, in Indiana, you shouldn’t be kissing people if you have a mustache. In fact here is the line of the law –

“Mustaches are illegal if the bearer has a tendency to habitually kiss other humans,”. Beards, however, are a-ok. So if you have ever been wondering if you should have a mustache or a beard – for the sake of your ability to kiss your partner in Indiana – always go for the beard.

Wheel-y Dirty

In Russia, since somewhere in 2006 you cannot drive around in a dirty car. Although the lines are slightly muddy (haha) on what constitutes as a dirty car a poll in Russia newspaper Izvestiya, found that 46% of people believe a car was too dirty IF you couldn’t see the license plate.

So there you have it, some wild a wacky laws from around the globe. Are there any laws that you have stumbled upon that have made you question everything? Here is a quick final law – You are forbidden to die in Sarpourenx in France unless you are already the proud owner of a burial plot.

The 7 Tenets Of The Satanic Temple

The Satanic Temple has seven fundamental tenets:

  1. One should strive to act with compassion and empathy towards all creatures in accordance with reason.
  2. The struggle for justice is an ongoing and necessary pursuit that should prevail over laws and institutions.
  3. One’s body is inviolable, subject to one’s own will alone.
  4. The freedoms of others should be respected, including the freedom to offend. To willfully and unjustly encroach upon the freedoms of another is to forgo your own.
  5. Beliefs should conform to our best scientific understanding of the world. We should take care never to distort scientific facts to fit our beliefs.
  6. People are fallible. If we make a mistake, we should do our best to rectify it and resolve any harm that may have been caused.
  7. Every tenet is a guiding principle designed to inspire nobility in action and thought. The spirit of compassion, wisdom, and justice should always prevail over the written or spoken word.

Choosing Music For A Short Film Project

A film would not be complete without the incorporation of production music. Music is crucial in setting the tone, dramatising certain points, and evoking different emotions from those who are watching. Therefore, picking the right production music is pivotal and should be given a lot of attention to. After all, if a song or tune seems misplaced, then it can seriously deter from the successfulness of the film. There are lots of aspects you need to consider when it comes to picking the best music and this article will reveal exactly what those are.

What is your budget for your film’s production music?

Most short films do not have massive budgets. Either way, you need to make sure you define a budget from the outset. There are lots of different methods of acquiring production music – you could choose someone in an audio school program so the can get experience.

Is the music relevant to the action on screen?

This sounds like an obvious point. However, sometimes some people are so desperate to incorporate a certain track that they ignore how relevant it is. You need to ensure the mood of the song is parallel to the mood of the characters on the screen. The other way of picking a song is if the short film you are producing is showing a character listening to some music. In this instance you need to get in the mind of your character and ask yourself what he or she would listen to on this occasion.

Remember viewers are only going to hear the song once

More often than not people’s favourite songs have grown on them. They listen to the tune in question over and over again and end up falling in love with it. You don’t have this luxury when it comes to putting together a short film. You need to find music that creates the right impression upon first hearing. Thus, when you are picking a track you need to determine your feelings on it the very first time you listen to it. Don’t listen to the tune 20 times and then decide that yes you like it.

Try to find original production music

There is nothing wrong with taking influence from other films. However, an issue can arise when a particular song is played in several films and thus automatically gets ingrained in your mind. Because of this, any other song you come across feels somewhat not good enough. It’s a bit like when you go shopping and you have a set picture in your mind regarding what clothes you want and thus nothing matches up to your ideal. When it comes to production music, you obviously have the option to use the popular tune in question. After all, if it has been used several times then it must be a great track. However, it is always better to try and be original. People are going to be much more impressed if you have the capacity to wow them with a song they have never heard before rather than play something that is popular at present.

If you consider the four points mentioned in this article whenever you are considering a certain track then you should have no trouble finding the perfect production music for your short film. Remember that the most important thing to do is define a budget from the outset so that you are looking for your music in the right places. This will make the process a lot quicker and easier. When considering different tracks try and look for something that is original, make sure that it is relevant to the action on screen, and think about the influence of the song upon first hearing only.

Learning From the Past: How Our History Can Shape Our Future

There are plenty of sayings that describe how humans have to push on and move ahead in order to grow and prosper. While the sentiment makes sense, it’s not actually the most useful piece of advice. Instead, what we should really be talking about is how we can use the past in order to shape our future–but how exactly does that work?

Our past is a collection of our mistakes

When we make mistakes, it’s fairly normal to bury them in the past so they never rear their head again. Unfortunately, hiding your mistakes like this isn’t progressive. Instead, what we should be doing is analysing these mistakes and attempting to find the cause and the effects it had, then use that knowledge to prevent it from happening again. We can also use those lessons to avoid similar problems and improve our future.

Our past shows our progress

People that study the past or at least have a grasp of it will often tell you just how much progress we’ve made as a collective. This is because understanding and embracing the past can show us just how much progress we’ve made. Whether it’s using statistics and facts or simply realizing that we’ve changed, it’s a great way to understand how far we’ve come and also gives us predictions on where we’re going.

We’ve included a fantastic example of a study of the past involving American women in war and how their role evolved. Using this, we can see just how progressive our society has become and it even gives some indication to where we might be going.

The Extensive Impact of Oil Spills

Oil spills are one of the unintended consequences of the oil industry. But while they might not be intentional, they can still be devastating. An oil spill, even when it’s small, can affect the environment and society in a number of ways. It can cause long-term damage that often takes years to recover from.

Wildlife and the Environment

Most people are aware of how an oil spill can affect the environment, and particularly the marine environment. You have likely seen seabirds covered in oil or dead fish caused by oil spills. Oil spills are difficult to clean up and minimizing their impact on the environment can be difficult. They can affect marine mammals, birds, fish, beaches and other aquatic environments, and wildlife habitats and breeding grounds.

Health

Human health can also be affected by oil spills. The effects of an oil spill can vary depending on various factors, including the type of oil and the amount of exposure to it. It can lead to skin problems, breathing problems, and stress. There are potentially long-term health effects of oil spills too, but not much is known about them if there are any.

The Economy

The economy is another concern if an oil spill occurs. In particular, an oil spill can affect coastal and marine economies. This can range from fisheries to coastal real estate, with long-term effects often occurring. Businesses can be disrupted by damage to the environment or even their own stock, and oil spills can affect the reputation of the area too.

The Incredible Technology Making The Smart Grid A Reality [Infographic]

For many years now, technologists have been talking about the smart grid – a network that would automatically adjust energy from traditional providers, solar panels, and wind to maximize the use of renewables and minimize outages. The need for a smart grid is more important today than ever before because of the sheer number of new energy technologies becoming feasible at a large scale.

The main problem the smart grid needs to solve today is integrating multiple sources of energy. Wind and solar, unlike gas, coal, oil and nuclear, are time-varying. A solar panel can only collect energy while the sun shines. A wind farm can only generate electricity when the wind blows. The smart grid, therefore, needs to scale back “base power” provided by traditional utilities when solar and wind become available, and then ramp up energy generation by traditional plants when renewables wane.

The smart grid also has to deal with the emerging battery electricity storage options. Tesla recently installed a battery array in Australia to store energy collected from solar panels during the day and then distribute it to people in the evenings without having to resort to expensive baseload generation.

None of this would be possible; however, without the introduction of machine learning: intelligent software that can react to multiple changes in energy supply and demand in real-time. Machine learning negates the need for thousands of human monitors. Take a look at the following infographic. It shows why we need a smart grid and the technologies making it possible. Arsenal Transfer Rumours – 15th July 2019

Celtic are said to be unsatisfied by Arsenal’s latest offer for Kieran Tierney, according to a new report. According to the Daily Record, the Hoops have yet to receive a bid that meets their ÂŁ25m valuation of the Scottish full-back. The paper claims that Celtic and the Gunners have been in constant dialogue with each other all summer, but have yet to find a middle ground in negotiations. Arsenal’s reported offer made on Saturday evening proposed a package that would have been paid in appearance-based installments. The North London giants have previously had a ÂŁ15m bid turned down for the 22-year-old, but have yet to give up on the defender. Should the Gunners meet Celtic’s full evaluation, Tierney will become the most expensive player in Scottish football history. In 2018, Celtic were paid ÂŁ19.8m by Lyon for Moussa Dembele, which was a then-record. But Arsenal will have to top that to get their man.

Arsenal are one of three English clubs interested in signing free agent Dani Alves, according to reports in Spain. The Brazilian right back just enjoyed a stellar Copa America as his country lifted the South American championship on home soil. Alves, 36, is available on a free transfer after he was released by PSG. Premier League champions Manchester City and the Gunners’ North London rivals Tottenham are also said to be in touch with Alves’ representatives. Arsenal struggled at right-back last term after Hector Bellerin suffered a season-ending knee injury. They toiled with Ainsley Maitland-Niles, and although he impressed in parts, his best position is in central midfield. It was also reported that Bellerin is likely to miss the start of next season, so Alves would provide perfect cover at the Emirates.

The club have reportedly held talks over bringing Gremio winger Everton Soares to the Emirates. The 23-year-old was top goalscorer at the Copa America where he netted in the final against Peru to help Brazil win their first title since 2007. According to Globo Esporte, Arsenal’s new technical director Edu – who recently left his role as general coordinator of the Brazilian national team – held talks with Everton’s agent Gilmar Veloz on Monday. They state the Europa League finalists are now preparing a formal offer for the player. It has also been claimed that Edu spoke to Everton about Arsenal during the Copa America, with the former midfielder relaying information about the winger back to the club. Everton has confirmed that he has been approached by a team, where he revealed that he cannot guarantee he will be in action for Gremio against Bahia on Wednesday.
