The Spectacular Universe

If you were on a spaceship, what would you be most excited about seeing?

I wish I could actually do that. Long time readers and people who know me well enough know that I dream about going out to space in a Star Trek style spaceship. My ultimate dream is to fly in space or travel through space and visit various alien planets, moons and asteroids go through all the planetary systems in different star clusters across this galaxy and the others. So if I could be the first astronaut to arrive on a new, uncharted planet (what do you mean by new anyways? A newly formed planet or just new to us?) I would be ecstatic.

I would be in awe of the grandiose of the universe and the beauty, vastness and spectacle of space. Looking at the various planets, stars, star systems, moons, asteroids and comets. Do some of these planets and moons have life on them? Do they have intelligent life? Can we land on some of these planets and moons and meet these aliens? Can we talk to them and exchange pleasantries, exchange culture, food, history and technology? Strike up a friendship and alliance?

Or will it be the other way around? Will they see us as a threat or someone to fear or conquer? Maybe they are hostile and see any and all alien species as one to attack and victor over and then make into slaves. Will we have to form a force filled with starships armed with weapons to fight against them bad aliens? We would prefer not to but maybe we may have to just to defend ourselves and our way of life, after giving the bad aliens enough chances to reconsider their approach and instead make peace with us.

But mostly I want to explore the galaxy and the rest of the universe.
