Losing Or Gaining faith – Losing My Religion

Having grow up in a Hindu family I blindly accepted the gods of Hinduism as a kid because…well of indoctrination. Hindu families will start indoctrinating their kids or grandkids fairly early on, even before said kids can start talking proper sentences. Having the mother or grandmother taking the toddler to the pooja room and making them fold their hands in front of Krishna and making the kid try to say “protect me, oh Krishna” (in Malayalam) is a common sight in the morning after said toddler has had a bath or just as the lamp is lit.

So yes I was a believer until, I reached the age of 13. I can’t say that I became an atheist at the age of 13 but that age is when I started my questioning and the stories of the gods weren’t enough to make me blindly believe. I remember thinking about certain things and asking a few questions and even though I got some answers, none of them were convincing in the least. I stopped going to temples by the age of 14 but did attend a couple of religious poojas because I was still a teen. But my parents never pushed me to do anything religious against my wishes.

Soon most of my extended family understood that I didn’t like going to temples and wasn’t a believer. I went if weddings were held in a temple but that’s about it. By the age of 19 I understood that I was an atheist and what that label meant and I was comfortable in telling people that’s what I was/am. I haven’t been in a temple since then except for weddings. A lot of people on learning that I am an atheist, will start talking some silly stuff about why I should believe and that really irritates me and sometimes I say things back but without proper scientific evidence, you have no chance of converting this one. Also, most of your gods sound like assholes who I would never worship even if in the unlikely event that they were real, anyways!

All you need to know about curriculum vitae writing: rules, ideas, tips

What do you need to do to get your resume together? There is no answer to this question, and there can be no correct answer, because there are no perfect resumes – in each case an individual approach is needed.

Nevertheless, if before preparing a resume, you find online and at least briefly read the rules for making up a resume, then you already know the main thing. Don’t you like reading rules and instructions? This article will help you keep your way to a new job shorter.

9 rules of a professional CV and resume editing and writing

To compose a proper resume/cv, you need help from a resume writing service such as https://resumeperk.com/resume-editor where expert writer and editor will write and edit your resume online making it sound and look correct. Resumeperk.com is the company making dreams about a job come true.

Resume rule # 1: clearly state the desired position

The title of the desired position is one of the most important points of the resume. The fate of your resume depends on how clearly you make it sound.

Do not use options such as “any position”, “specialist”, etc., as these wording will not give the employer an idea of ??what you want. Employers will not waste their time thinking about what to offer you. If no specific position is specified, the CV will go to the trashcan.

Do not include several mutually exclusive positions in one resume at the same time, even if you are equally proficient in the functionality. Compose several different resumes, each with an emphasis on the experience and skills required for each specific position you might be applying for. Yes, you will have to spend a little more time, but the result will not be long in coming! This is what a resume making consultant will assure you.

When sending a resume for vacancies, in the first line, mention only the title of the position from the vacancy announcement you like.

Professional resume rule # 2: decide on your salary in advance

In the “Income level” field, it is better to indicate the specific amount of money for which you are applying.

Resume writing rule # 3: refrain from humor

A resume is a business document. When composing it, it would be best to avoid irony, humor and sarcasm. Make jokes later, but for now, the information style will bring you much better results than even the most appropriate joke in this case.

Resume Rule # 4: Be Concise

Do not make your resume look like an epic novel by placing the texts of articles, publications, and your reflections on the meaning of life. All this is unnecessary. The resume should fit on one page at best, maximum two. Excessive brevity will also not look representative – a resume with not fully completed main fields and the words “I will tell everything in person” will be immediately sent to the trash.

Resume composing rule # 5: remove unnecessary personal information

For your own safety, do not include personal information in your resume – ID number, address where you live, etc.

Good resume rule # 6: assess whether you need links to your social media profiles

It is not always worth giving a link to your Facebook page or on other social networks in your resume – the employer may find out too much unnecessary information there. If social networks do not characterize you as a professional, while looking for a job, you should even think about limiting the ability to view your pages in the visibility settings, leaving access only to friends and close people. And in general, you should not describe the details of your personal life in your resume. Avoid information that is irrelevant.

Sample resume rule # 7: check your resume for spelling errors

The resume should not contain grammatical mistakes and typos – such CVs make an extremely negative impression on the employer. Then again, https://resumeperk.com/resume-consultant resume service may come in handy. You might use its editing or consulting services online, which are highly professional and a professional consultancy is the best of the best ideas when you are looking for a job and eager to find it no matter what.

An expert consultant from resumeperk.com company will provide you an expert evaluation of your resume if you composed it on your own, edit if any changes required so it looked and sounded correct. Job hunting is a serious thing and your resume has to be properly done and this is what a resume editor is meant for. Applying for help online, you kill two birds with one stone saving your time and getting a perfectly edited resume.

Resume placing rule # 8: check the accuracy and relevance of the information

Be honest when writing your resume. Knowledge of specific programs, availability of certain skills – all this is checked very quickly. If necessary, you will need to confirm the information you specified with documents or relevant examples.

Resume Rule # 9: add a recent photo to your resume

To put a photo in the resume is optional. But if you do decide to accompany the document with a photograph, remember that it must meet a number of requirements. There should be only one person in the picture and this person is you, and your face should be clearly visible. Remember: CVs with photos showing the applicant without clothes (partially or completely) will not be accepted for consideration! And keep in mind that you may feel free to apply for a consultancy of a resumeperk.com professionals.

Arsenal Sign Ben White From Brighton

Ben White has joined Arsenal from Brighton & Hove Albion on a long-term contract. The 23-year-old defender, who has proved to be one of the Premier League’s finest young prospects, joins us after spending the summer as part of the England squad at the Euros.

Ben spent the 2019/20 season on loan at Leeds United, where he was an ever-present in their Championship-winning side, helping them win promotion back to the Premier League after a 16-year absence. He returned to the south coast last season, becoming a key member of Brighton’s Premier League side. Ben started his youth career at Southampton before joining Brighton as a 16-year-old, where he enjoyed rapid progress, making his first-team debut as an 18-year-old. During his time at Brighton, as well as the Championship-winning spell with Leeds, Ben also spent successful loan spells with Newport County and Peterborough United.

Ben will wear the No 4 shirt and will immediately join up with his new team-mates ahead of The Mind Series friendly match at home to Chelsea on Sunday. White was named in the England team for the first time in May 2021, where he was selected as part of the provisional 33-man squad for UEFA Euro 2020. He was later cut from the squad, though remained on standby for the tournament and made his debut as a substitute in June in a 1–0 win over Austria. He made his first start for England in the second and final warm up match in another 1–0 victory, this time against Romania on 6 June. On 7 June, he was named in the squad as a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Another Year Rolls On By

Every year when it comes around to my birthday I go into a semi-depression. I take a good look in the mirror and I see back upon on my life as it has been so far. And I get depressed. I am no where I wanted to be when I was younger and had dreams and hopes. I had my little wish of being a married man, with a loving wife and partner, with my own place or should I say our own place and at a better time in my life.

I don’t have any of that. I don’t have my own place. I am not married and neither do I have a girlfriend. Funny, a few years ago I thought I had accepted the fact that I would never find love but I guess as the days and weeks pass, it gets harder to just accept the fact that I will always be alone. I am not where I want to be financially and I would like to change my job but it is kinda tough during these times. I would also like a change of place and pace and move away.

Thinking about all of these things makes me feel sad. I look for ways to keep myself or rather my mind busy and during the waking hours I kind of manage to do that. When I go to bed that is another thing altogether. I think that is why it takes a very long time for me to fall asleep unless I am very tired. Oh well, another year is upon me.

Costa Coffee’s Belgian Chocolate Frostino

British coffeehouse chain Costa Coffee has has a small footprint in the Indian landscape and have had an outlet in Lulu Mall located in Cochin since 2015. Overpriced for sure and with a more bitter taste than giants Starbucks or Indian chain Cafe Coffee Day, Costa coffees were something I had only when I went to the mall.

Since the start of the Coronavirus pandemic, I have ordered a few coffees and frappes via either Swiggy or Zomato to quench my premium coffee thirst. Usually it is Starbucks or CCD. I think I have only ordered a latte from Costa Coffee once but I have been hearing about their Frostinos line which I had never tried before. Frostinos are a range of creamy iced drinks for utter indulgence. Available in 6 delicious flavours they are sure to be a hit of they already aren’t.

Double Chocolate Cookie, Vanilla Frostino, Coffee Frostino, Caramel Latte Frostino & Strawberry Cream Frostino are other options but the one I chose was the Belgian Chocolate Frostino: Belgian chocolate sauce blended with fresh milk and ice, finished with an extra swirl of sauce and fresh cream. Nice and thick and not too sweet – that was something I liked as it wasn’t an overdose of sugar. It has the bitterness of coffee with some sweetness of the Belgian chocolate. With lots of chocolate chips and cream. It’s really good!

RIP Dusty Hill

Joseph “Dusty” Hill, ZZ Top’s bassist for more than 50 years, has died, the group’s longtime rep confirmed. No cause of death was cited. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, as a member of ZZ Top, in 2004. The band’s Billy Gibbons and Frank Beard issued a statement: “We are saddened by the news today that our Compadre, Dusty Hill, has passed away in his sleep at home in Houston, TX. We, along with legions of ZZ Top fans around the world, will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature and enduring commitment to providing that monumental bottom to the ‘Top’. We will forever be connected to that ‘Blues Shuffle in C.’ “You will be missed greatly, amigo.”

Earlier this month, Gibbons and Beard played their first performances without Hill in more than 50 years, stating that the bassist had been forced to seek medical attention “to address a hip issue,” according to a statement, although his ailment was apparently more serious than they let on. While ZZ Top was best known for their synthesizer-powered 1980s hits, they were a thoroughly Texan, heavy rock-blues band at heart, spawned from the same psychedelic scene that birthed Roky Erickson and the 13th Floor Elevators but keeping things roots and rocking throughout their more than 50-year career, even as they incorporated synthesized rhythms into their sound in the 1980s.

Hill was born in Dallas in 1949 and played cello in high school, which made for an easy transition to electric bass. He, his guitarist brother Rocky and future fellow ZZ Top bandmate Frank Beard, a drummer, played in local bands such as the Warlocks, the Cellar Dwellers and American Blues, working the same Texas touring circuits as ace guitarist Billy Gibbons’ band, the Moving Sidewalks. The brothers parted company in 1968 over musical differences, and Hill and Beard moved to Houston, where they eventually united with Gibbons in ZZ Top.

Gibbons had formed the band in 1969 and recorded a one-off independent single produced by manager Bill Ham, who would remain with them for decades. The act’s original bassist introduced the guitarist to Beard; Hill would join Gibbons and Beard for a gig in Beaumont, TX, on Feb. 10, 1970. The lineup remained the same for more than five decades: They celebrated their 50th anniversary at a San Antonio concert in February 2020.

Hill’s on-screen appearances include Back to the Future Part IIIMother Goose Rock ‘n’ RhymeWWE Raw and Deadwood, and as himself in the 11th-season episode of King of the Hill, “Hank Gets Dusted”, in which Hank Hill is said to be Dusty’s cousin. He also made an appearance on The Drew Carey Show as himself auditioning for a spot in Drew’s band, but is rejected because of his attachment to his trademark beard which he refers to as a ‘Texas Goatee’.

How Rock Bands Got Their Names – 4

The Rolling Stones – It’s easy to picture the Rolling Stones offering a very hearty thank you to Muddy Waters when they sat in with the legendary bluesman at Buddy Guy’s Chicago-based Checkerboard Lounge in November 1981. After all, they took their now-iconic band name from Waters’ 1950 song “Rollin’ Stone.”

Rush : Rush’s original bassist and lead vocalist was replaced shortly after they formed in 1968 by Geddy Lee, a schoolmate of Alex Lifeson’s. Their first official incarnation – featuring Lee, Lifeson and John Rutsey – wouldn’t lock into place until May 1971. “Rush” was suggested by Rutsey’s brother, Bill.

Scorpions : It’s widely believed that the band initially chose the name Scorpions because it sounded particularly tough and dangerous. Still, they almost ended up being known as Dawn Road. In the mid-’70s, members from Dawn Road and an earlier incarnation of Scorpions combined and briefly considered using one name or the other. They ultimately decided to use the Scorpions because it was already well known in the German hard-rock scene. Unknowing fans often use “the” in conjunction with this band’s name (e.g. “The Scorpions”), but it’s simply Scorpions.

Styx : Styx is the river that runs into hell in Greek mythology. While it might seem like a more appropriate name for a metal band than the Styx you’ve come to know, be advised that A) they were rather more rocking at the time, and B) it was the early ‘70s.

Toto : The story goes that drummer Jeff Porcaro randomly scribbled the name on the then-unnamed band’s earliest demos just to have some kind of identifying mark. Seeing the name on the tapes, bassist David Hungate remarked that “in toto” was Latin for “as a whole” or “all encompassing,” and the band was sold on it.

Weekend Whizzes By In The Blink Of An Eye

I have no idea where this weekend went. It feels like it’s my first day off of the week and then ***zoom*** it’s back to a working day again. I have to state that I was working Tuesday to Saturday last week and will do the same this week. Which means that I had Sunday and Monday off instead of the usual Saturday & Sunday off. I had no clue that it would go by so quickly.

All I did was watch a couple of movies – Spider-man : Homecoming, The Hitman’s Bodyguard, Pinocchio & Click. Some much needed comedic relief from the work week and stuff that I have been watching recently. But that’s all of significance that I can state. I bought some burgers with fries and chicken wings from Westley’s Cafe on Sunday night for me and mom and porotta & fried chicken for my dad. My burger was a club burger – beef patty, chicken ham & a fried egg. It was good but the wings were mostly bland and the sticky bbq sauce was way too sweet. Fries were ok!

I had some rum & Coke and then watched a bunch of music videos before going to bed and watching Pinocchio on late Sunday night. Yesterday went by in a blur. I got a package delivered with the wrong item from an Amazon seller. I bought some snacks & groceries delivered. And then – that’s it! It is now Tuesday afternoon post lunch. I guess I will watch some Star Trek and get ready for the evening training sessions I have to conduct.

Lays’ India’s Magic Masala Review

I had been wondering about this particular flavour of Lay’s. Lays chips are one of my fav coffee time snack and I also like them with some alcohol. My favourite ones are the Cream & Onion flavour, which used to be called the American Cream & Onion flavour. A close second favourite is the Tangy Tomato.

Now, I don’t mind spicy chips. Infact there are some that I like and Lays also has a West Indies Hot n’ Sweet Chili flavour which is really good. But there is good spice and spice that doesn’t taste all that good. Magic Masala Potato Chips is another in a line of Indian Frito-Lay chips that are out there. I have avoided them for this long because I just didn’t see the point in getting a masala flavoured chip. “Masala” too is weird as a choice of flavour name as it just means spice but not a specific mix of spices. For the first time I had the India’s Magic Masala one as I had some apprehensions about trying out a “masala” flavoured potato chip.

I made my coffee, opened up one of the 2 small Rs.10 packs I bought and sat down in front of my laptop and try them. Good thing I only bought the small ones. It’s not that good and it’s not a good spice. I bought it a bit meh and I probably may never buy them again. The ingredients list says it contains Potato, Edible Vegetable Oil,**Spices & Condiments (Onion Powder, Chilli Powder, Dry mango powder, Coriander powder, Ginger Powder, Garlic Powder, Black pepper powder, Turmeric powder, Cumin), Salt, Black Salt, Sugar, Tomato powder, Citric acid, Tartaric acid.

I will give it 2 outta 5 stars!!

Three Things If I Weren’t So Afraid

Three things you’d do if you weren’t so afraid.

1. First thing is I would move to a new place, like a small apartment on my own and see if I can live a good life there as well as support my parents financially. Currently I live with my parents though I pay for the bills and food. My sister helps out a lot for some things like take my parents for hospital visits and even for shopping as well as takes them for a few days. But I want my own place to decorate it as I like.

2. I would love to move to another country like Canada. And if Canada is out of the option then maybe the Netherlands, the UK or one of Sweden, Denmark, Finland or Norway. It would be a great experience. Ofcourse money is a problem and I am also scared about the cold weather affecting me negatively since I have asthma and also – I am turning 45 in a few days.

3. I would quit my job! I am scared though, really scared as what I make is pretty decent pay and getting another job in the current situation is very difficult. Not sure how many ITES companies are hiring and I also want to make sure that it is going to be work from home. I don’t think I ever want to work from an office anymore for the rest of my working life.

Odd & Weird Laws In Quebec

Quebec law states that all business signs must be in French. You can use English prints, but they must be twice smaller than French. And no language other than French is permitted to be shown out doors.

While not always enforced, it is illegal to have a “for sale” sign in a car while driving. In Montreal it’s against the law to block your own driveway with your car. Doing so can earn you a $52 ticket. It is also prohibited for drivers to turn right on a red light in Montreal.

Having a home with more than two different colours of paint will earn you a fine if you live in Beaconsfield, Quebec, where houses should be only two colours — or, even better, just one!

It’s Illegal to Remove a Bandage in Public. Although many of us have publicly removed old bandages from wounds, this could not be done under Canadian law. If you remove the bandage somewhere in public, including parks or sidewalks, you can consider yourself a criminal.

Practicing witchcraft (even if it’s faked) is 100% illegal. The law remained unchanged in Canada over the centuries but for the addition of the word “fraudulently” in the 1950s. This means that practicing witchcraft is not a crime in Canada, but faking it in order to extort or deceive others is. In fact, in a news release announcing one of the arrests, police were careful to note that the “charge is not connected in any way to any religion.”
