Rainy Three Day Weekend With Nothing To Do But Chill

That’s all I want to do. Why? Because it’s a three day weekend during the monsoon season. It’s been a long while since I had a 3 day weekend and this rainy day 3 day weekend is a welcome respite. The reason I have a 3 day weekend is because the next two weeks I will be conducting training remotely for new hire folks in Chennai. This came as a sudden request due to some goof up in planning or something that they had. Hence 3 of us from the Cochin site will be conducting training for the 60 odd folks split into 3 batches. It could be more than – maybe 23-25 per batch.

Anyways, since the batches are scheduled to run Tuesday to Saturday, that means I get Sunday & Monday off and I shouldn’t be asked to work 6 days a week without extra pay for no reason, hence I get this Monday off too. Three Day weekend woo-hoo! So what do I have planned for myself? Nothing! Absolutely nothing. All I plan to do is to get some good food – maybe a pizza or fried chicken and a drink, wrap myself in my bedsheets and watch a bunch of movies in the comfort of my bedroom.

On the other hand – since I do have a 3 day weekend, I guess I should try and go out either on Sunday or Monday. I could use a haircut and I haven’t had any beer in ages. So I guess I could book an Uber rental and go and get some groceries, some beer and get a haircut in one of the saloons that are open now.

It’s Oreo Cookies In A 5 Star Bar

What is this – two of my favourites in one? A 5Star Oreo bar? Mondelez India, the makers and bakers of some of India’s favourite snacking brands – Cadbury Dairy Milk, Cadbury Bournvita, and Oreo among others, had launched in March a chocolate bar called Cadbury 5Star Oreo, strengthening their premium snacking portfolio and empowering consumers with more choice, yet again.

This stellar combination of the creaminess and crunchiness of OREO and the chocolatey caramel zest of Cadbury 5Star is a sandwich in a sandwich, which aims to entice and tantalize the taste buds of the consumers who are constantly exploring newer eat experiences. Layered with chocolate, caramel, Oreo cream and biscuit chunks, each bite of this decadent duo is sure to leave you with a scrumptious lingering taste. The launch of the multi-textured Cadbury 5Star Oreo will be supported by a 360-degree integrated marketing communication, which includes strong digital, innovative outdoor, solid in-store visibility and engagement building influencer activity. Priced at Rs. 35, Cadbury 5Star Oreo is sure to bring the most delicious and crunchy indulgence experience ever and I can’t wait to try one.

Arsenal 2021/2022 Home Kit Launched

The Arsenal 21-22 home kit was released this morning. It will be worn on pitch for the first time in Saturday’s friendly against Rangers. Made by Adidas and featuring Emirates as main sponsor, the new home shirt for the Gunners’ introduces a new look based in part on the Condivo 21 template. The Adidas Arsenal FC 2021-2022 shirt introduces a fresh look for the Gunners.

It’s mainly red (‘scarlet’) with white sleeves and side panels. For the first time since Adidas’ return to the club, the 3 Stripes are navy. More navy is present in the form of piping on the collar and sleeve cuffs – the former being based on the Condivo 21 template similar to the Juventus home. After this season’s shirt featured a slightly darker shade of red, the 21-22 edition returns to the same color that was used on the 2018-19 shirt. Inside the collar is the logo of the Arsenal for Everyone initiative.

Arsenal for Everyone was launched in 2008 to promote diversity. The shorts of the Arsenal 2021-2022 home kit are white with red-navy-red Adidas stripes along the sides. The socks are red with white hoops. The Arsenal home kit was launched on July 16th, 2021. It will be available at independent retailers from July 23.

William Saliba Joins Marseille On Loan For The Season

Arsenal defender William Saliba is set for his third loan spell after Ligue 1 side Olympique de Marseille signed him for the 2021-22 season, the Premier League club said on Thursday. Saliba, signed in 2019 from St Etienne for a reported fee of about 27 million pounds ($37 million), has yet to play for the senior team. As part of the deal, he returned to St Etienne for a season on loan while he also had a six-month loan spell with Nice last season.

“Together with William, we have decided it will be good for his continued development to spend another season on loan,” Arsenal technical director Edu said in a statement. “William joined us as an 18-year-old, and he is still only 20, so he is still developing all the time.” Saliba heads back to France having not partaken in the Gunners’ first warm-up game of a busy pre-season schedule, a 2-1 loss to Hibernian on Tuesday as part of their preparations for the Florida Cup.

Signed on a reported five-year deal in July 2019, Saliba spent the first season of his contract back with Saint-Etienne, making close to a dozen-and-a-half appearances for the club as he helped them to the Coupe de France Final. He unfortunately missed out on a shot at silverware as his deal expired and he returned to north London in the summer of 2020, amid a much-disrupted campaign due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Saliba failed to play a senior game for Arsenal across the first half of last term, before he was shipped off to Nice where he played 22 games across all competitions and helped them seal a top-half finish in Ligue 1.

A Mixture That Is Sweet, Salty & Even A Bit Tangy

Deliciously sweet and sour, this mix of fried green peas, boondi, lemon sev and classic namkeen is an extraordinary treat to your senses. Haldiram’s Khatta Meetha snack is one of India’s best-selling snacks. It is a sweet and spicy blend of chickpea flour noodles, puffed rice, green peas and peanuts. This is the perfect snack for those who cannot eat anything spicy and still want a flavorful snack! Though in the South of India we prefer more savoury and at times spicy snacks with our tea or coffee, this one is a treat for the taste buds and I love it.

Mixture is what we usually call it in Kerala and true to it’s name it is a mixture of stuff. But yeah this one might be more palatable for foreigners and those who are not used to the spiciness that we in Kerala usually like. And I must say that I usually go for Haldirams for their sweets but their spicy & tangy peanuts and these Khatta Meeta mixture are the bomb. As I type this I am munching on some in a bowl while I have my evening coffee. I would advise to buy the bigger 1kg bag or bags and keep them stored in a cool place.

Ingredients: Bengal Gram flour(34%), Rice Flakes(22%), Split Bengal (12%), Refined Palmolein Oil, Sago (6%), Peanut(6%), Lensils(5%), Sugar, Salt, Green Chilli Peas(1%), Red Chilli, Turmeric and Citric Acid (330)

RIP Jeff LaBar

Jeff LaBar, best known as the guitarist for glam metal band Cinderella, has died. His son Sebastian confirmed the news on Wednesday via a social media post. He was 58. The cause of death was not disclosed. Labar’s first wife, Gaile Labar-Bernhardt, told TMZ  that he was found dead Wednesday inside his Nashville apartment. LaBar linked up with Cinderella in 1985, after founding guitarist Michael Schermick departed. He joined the Philadelphia band as they were signing to Mercury/Polygram and remained in the band through 2017. In 1986, they released their debut album, Night Songs. The LP’s breakthrough single “Nobody’s Fool” reached Number 13 and the album hit Number 3 on the Billboard 200. They subsequently toured with Poison, David Lee Roth, and Bon Jovi.

Their sophomore album, 1988’s Long Cold Winter, contained their biggest hit, “Don’t Know What You Got (Till It’s Gone).” The power ballad hit Number 12 on Billboard Hot 100. The LP tipped to frontman Tom Keifer’s penchant for blues rock, which continued to flavor their final two albums, 1990’s Heartbreak Station and 1994’s Still Climbing. In between, Keifer lost his voice due to vocal cord issues. Cinderella went on hiatus in 1995. A year later, they returned for a tour and a greatest hits compilation. They continued to tour in the early 2000s and in 2006, they marked their 20th anniversary of their debut album, alongside Poison.

Keifer’s vocal cord issues derailed another planned tour in 2008, but they resumed hitting the road a few years later, which included a 25th anniversary tour in 2011, and a rock cruise in 2013. In 2017, after years of inaction, Keifer announced that Cinderella would not reunite. LaBar also worked on side projects, including one with Cinderella bandmate Eric Brittingham called Naked Beggars, though he parted ways with the group in 2007. LaBar released his debut solo album, One for the Road, in 2014. He played all of the instruments except the drums on the LP. During Cinderella’s temporary break-up in the mid-1990s, LaBar supported himself by running a pizza shop with his brother and by doing assorted construction jobs.

In an interview from 2016, LaBar admitted to having a substance abuse problem with alcohol for years, and blamed the substance abuse for Cinderella’s inactivity. LaBar leaves behind his wife Debinique and has a son named Sebastian from a previous marriage. Sebastian is the lead guitarist in a band called Mach22 and Tantric.

How Rock Bands Got Their Names

Black Sabbath : Originally known as the Earth Blues Company, they later shortened it to Earth – then discarded that name altogether, because another band was already using it. They settled on Black Sabbath after attaching the title – which had earlier been used for a 1963 film starring Boris Karloff – to a spooky new song inspired by an apparition seen by bassist Geezer Butler.

Buffalo Springfield : When Stephen Stills, Neil Young and Richie Furay’s triple-threat singer-songwriter assault hooked up with rhythm section Dewey Martin and Bruce Palmer to make rock ‘n’ roll history, everybody else on the West Coast was coming up with weird, fanciful band names. They instead chose theirs from a random brand of steamroller that Stills and Furay saw outside the place where they were living.

Deep Purple : These British rockers had been calling themselves Roundabout, before the Yes song of the same name. At guitarist Ritchie Blackmore’s suggestion, they changed it to Deep Purple after a song that went back to the big-band era. It was first cut by the Paul Whiteman band in the ’30s.

Def Leppard : Singer Joe Elliott initially coined the name “Deaf Leopard” while writing reviews for imaginary rock bands in his high-school English class. Tony Kenning, percussionist for the band’s original lineup, suggested modifying the spelling to make the name seem less “punk.”

Guns N’ Roses : Hollywood Rose member Izzy Stradlin spent some time in the mid-’80s as roommates with L.A. Guns member Tracii Guns. When L.A. Guns needed a new singer, Hollywood Rose’s Axl Rose came aboard. This led to the 1985 formation of Guns N’ Roses, a combined lineup that featured Rose, Stradlin and Guns, along with Ole Beich and Rob Gardner. Melding the names of both previous groups proved to be a much better call than rejected suggestions, which included Heads of Amazon and AIDS.

Martyrs (2015 American Version)

Martyrs is a 2015 American horror film directed by Kevin and Michael Goetz and written by Mark L. Smith. The film stars Troian Bellisario, Bailey Noble and Kate Burton. It is a remake of Pascal Laugier’s 2008 film of the same name in which the personal quest to seek revenge on the people who abducted and tortured her as a child leads Lucie and Anna, also a victim of abuse, into a spiral of something much more sinister.

Dominos In Japan Serves A Fish n’Chips Pizza

Of all the things that is unholy and blasphemous! The debate about the best football team in Europe may be over with the conclusion of Euro 2020, but food jokes about the two finalists, England and Italy, are still continuing unabated on social media. Domino’s Japan has created a ‘Fish and Chips pizza’, that is topped with lemon slices, potatoes, basil and tomato sauce. In a move that some in the media have referred to the monstrocity as “Japan Dominos have invented a dish that insults both England and Italy”!

The ‘Fish and Chips vs Pizza’ memes and jokes started trending just after England and Italy qualified for the finals. Social media users argued which cuisine is better and even turned food pictures into memes with texts like ‘don’t add pineapples to pizza’, ‘you cannot put fish on chips’, ‘fish and chips or pasta’. As the nations were divided after the final match, a food brand has created a pizza to bring the two groups of fans back together. The tweet garnered thousands of reactions and resonated with other users who agreed the invention was an insult to both countries.

Domino’s Japan responded from their official handle “We are sorry our fish and chip pizza has caused so much trouble. We think it’s quite delicious. If you are in Japan and would like to challenge let us knowThumbs up We may be able to work out a plan internally that we can offer to you for free!”

How I Manage My Packing For A Trip

Do you have mad packing skills when you head on vacation? Share your packing tips.

Not really but I think I have become much better at it now and if I were to compare myself from say 6 or 7 years ago to now, I think there is a big improvement. For instance the first thing I used to do – precovid – was to make sure my shirts were all laundered and ironed (by a guy who you can send your clothes to and who will bring it back all neatly pressed, folded and ironed) because the thing I hate most is ironing and folding.

Now that I have those done, I will move onto undershirts and underwear and neatly put them in between those and my trousers/pants. Socks go on next and then towels and lungis (which is what we wear in the house) and on top I will tuck in any books I plan to read on the trip/vacation. I always keep my toiletries in last – shaving foam, razor, spare cartridges, shaving brush, soaps, shampoos and deodorants. Usually I can get a pouch to keep them in.

Anything else if I have space will go in. Finally phone charger, laptop, laptop charger and mouse go into a smaller bag – like a laptop bag – and then I am all set.

Some Interesting Facts About The Planet Mars

Here are five fascinating facts about our neighbours in the solar system – Mars.

1. Mars Had Water In The Ancient Past: We’ve been debating for centuries about whether Mars had life or not. In fact, the astronomer Percival Lowell misinterpreted observations of “canali” — the Italian word for channels — on the planet as evidence of alien-made canals. It turned out Lowell’s observations were hampered by poor telescope optics of his day, and the canals he saw were optical illusions. That said, several spacecraft have spotted other signs of ancient water — channels grooved in the terrain and rocks that only could have formed in the presence of water, for example.

2. Mars Has Frozen Water Today: We’re very interested in the question of water because it implies habitability; simply put, life as we know it is more likely to exist with water there. In fact, the Curiosity rover’s mandate on Mars right now is to search for habitable environments (in the past or present). Mars has a thin atmosphere that does not allow water to flow or remain in large quantities on the surface, but we know for sure that there is ice at the poles — and possibly frosty locations elsewhere on the planet. The question is if the ice is capable of melting enough water in the summer long enough to support any microbes.

3. Mars Used To Have A Thicker Atmosphere: For water to flow in the past, the Red Planet needs more atmosphere. So something must have changed in the past few billion years. What? It is thought that the Sun’s energy striking the atmosphere must have “stripped” the lighter forms of hydrogen from the top, scattering the molecules into space. Over long periods of time, this would lessen the amount of atmosphere near Mars. This question is being investigated in more detail with NASA’s Mars Atmosphere and Volatile EvolutioN (MAVEN) spacecraft.

4. Mars Has Two Moons – And One Of Them Is Doomed: The planet has two asteroid-like moons called Phobos and Deimos. Because they have compositions that are similar to asteroids found elsewhere in the Solar System, according to NASA, most scientists believe the Red Planet’s gravity snatched the moons long ago and forced them into orbit. But in the life of the Solar System, Phobos has a pretty short lifetime. In about 30 million to 50 million years, Phobos is going to crash into Mars’ surface or rip apart because the tidal force of the planet will prove too much to resist.

5. We Have Pieces Of Mars On Earth: Remember the low gravity on Mars that we talked about? In the past, the planet has been hit by large asteroids — just like Earth. Most of the debris fell back on the planet, but some of it was ejected into space. That sparked an incredible journey where the debris moved around the Solar System and in some cases, landed on Earth. The technical name for these meteorites is called SNC (Shergottites, Nakhlites, Chassignites — types of geologic composition). Gases trapped in some of these meteorites has been practically identical to what NASA’s Viking landers sampled on the Red Planet in the 1970s and 1980s.

Italy Wins The Euros; Football Went To Rome

Italy won the European Championship for the first time since 1968 as Gianluigi Donnarumma saved two England penalties en route to a 3-2 shootout win after the teams had fought out a 1-1 extra-time draw at a raucous Wembley on Sunday. The giant keeper saved from Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka after Marcus Rashford hit a post, as Federico Bernardeschi, Leonardo Bonucci and Domenico Berardi all scored for the Italians. They also extended their winning streak to 34-0.

England took the lead with a Luke Shaw strike in the 2nd minute, the quickest ever goal in an Euro final. Leonardo Bonucci scored the equaliser for Italy in the 67th minute. The score remained 1-1 at the end of 90 minutes as well as after Extra-Time. Italy won 3-2 on penalties. Italy, one of the most decorated teams in the world, have ended a few years of trophy drought.

England, on the other hand, were in uncharted territory. They haven’t even reached a final since 1966. The last of Italy’s four World Cup victories came in 2006, when Chiellini had already made his international debut but didn’t play at the tournament. But the team is a comparative underachiever in the Euros with its only title in 1968. Italy, however, has already reached the final twice in recent years — in 2000 and 2012 — whereas England hasn’t got close until now.

Italy’s unbeaten run continues under manager Roberto Mancini. They have been undefeated for 34 matches which goes back to September 2018. Since Mancini took over, he has turned the team around from after their low point of missing the bus for the 2018 World Cup. The Italians are a complete team now with efficiency their key feature. With the next World Cup to take place in 2022, the Italians will hope to continue their form.

Something I Can Never Forgive Myself For

I will never ever forgive myself for being the reason why a woman had a terrible experience with her love life. When I was 21 I joined NIIT in Ravipuram for a 2 year Diploma Course in Computer programming. It was a then very prestigious course and 2 or 3 year (in which the 3rd year was setup as an internship at a IT or IT related company) ensured you very given the best options of getting a good career in the field. That’s not important, what is important is that out of the 4 semesters, 6 months each along with the exams for that semester, my 1st one was one I want to forget about.

I never had a problem in making friends. So when I joined and I met the 13 other people in the same batch, I quickly made some friends. There were only 3 girls in the batch and our faculty member was a lady as well. I made good friends with all of them and enjoyed my time with these guys. However, one of the guys had a crush on one of the girl in the batch. She was very close to me so he would often ask me to kinda big him up to her so he could make his move. At first I thought he was sincere and so I did. And it worked. Pretty soon they became a couple.

However I later one found out that he was a total asshole and was into just using her for his needs and would dump her after a while. I kind of go to know about this during the end of the semester. I took a break of a month from my course as I would undergo an operation that would require me to rest at home for about 4 weeks. This meant I would change batches and join another batch for the remaining 3 semesters. When I came back I joined those guys and made a lot of good friends. I quickly distanced myself from the guy, especially since the girl never became good friends with me again.

We did speak but I got to know that he would brag to his friends about getting to “use and abuse her” (his words) and I never saw her after she left the institute post completing her course. I tried to keep in touch with her but she obviously saw me as a responsible party in what was a terrible thing in her life. I guess I don’t really blame her.

Hardest Parts Of Being A Kid

What was the hardest part of being a kid?

The hardest part of being a kid was watching things happening around me that I couldn’t speak up about or talk about. Certain things I hated and I didn’t like that some adults kept quiet about it and let it happen. Nothing like murder or anything else illegal but still somethings which should not have happened. I also felt that at that age if I had spoken out, my points wouldn’t be taken as seriously as that of an adult. I have hated the elders in my family for that.

You also didn’t make any significant amounts of money and hence you couldn’t by things for yourself. Any money we got during Onam, Vishnu and perhaps a birthday plus your allowance if you got any on a regular basis, was what we bought things that we wanted but not really what our parents thought we should get. That was hard. Nowadays I plan my budget as much as I can and buy whatever I want.

And at times you weren’t taken seriously. Certain things which you feel strong about is not taken with the same seriously that you strongly do. Best thing is when you grow up, you can turn the tables on them and not take their ideas as seriously as you had to pretend to when you were a kid.
