Little White Lies

Is it ever okay to tell a little white lie? Explain your opinion.

Short answer yes! It depends on the situation. As I grew older I found that I did not appreciate people lying to me and also I developed a hatred towards lying for anything. Call it maturity on my part (hey, it had to happen someday) or whatever but I just feel that when you lie it always creates issues for you later on. You have to then cover up the lie and back it up with possible 1 or more other lies and hope it all doesn’t tumble like a house of cards in a tornado.

But I do lie. Little white lies. I remember the main person I used to say this to. My former manager – do you know why? This guy had a problem with his team members leaving home on time. So when I was working the morning shift, which was like 8:30 am or 9am and 9 hours later it was the end of the shift, other people could leave but we had to go and check with him if there was any of his work that he wanted us to do because he was a lazy bum and liked to just talk to people. So I used to lie to him that I had things to buy for home and that my mother or father needed help and was waiting for me.

All this just so I could leave 1 or 2 days on time. Otherwise I would have to wait for 2-3 hours and not get paid overtime, because this guy was too lazy to enter data into a online portal that the corporate team looks into. And it was his job! Yet he couldn’t do it. Or some other shit like that. So I would lie.

18 Year Old British Girl Wins The US Open Women’s Final

In the first US Open final between two unseeded players, 18-year-old Emma Raducanu took home her first Grand Slam championship when she defeated 19-year-old Leylah Fernandez in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3. Raducanu became the first qualifier to win a Grand Slam, also doing so in just the second Grand Slam tournament of her career. With the victory, Raducanu became the first British woman to win a Grand Slam title since Virginia Wade won Wimbledon in 1977. Wade was also the last British woman to win the US Open, back in 1968.

Furthermore, Raducanu is also the youngest women’s tennis player to win a major since Maria Sharapova upset Serena Williams in the 2004 Wimbledon final. It wasn’t only a few months ago when Raducanu made her Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) main draw debut at the 2021 Nottingham Open in June, where she entered the tournament as a wild card. Later that month, she made her main draw Grand Slam debut at Wimbledon, again as a wild card. Raducanu made it all the way to the fourth round at Wimbledon, becoming the youngest British woman to reach the last 16 in the Open Era. The 2021 US Open was just her second career Grand Slam, and she had never played a top-40 player until competing in New York. On Monday, Raducanu will rise from No. 150 to No. 23 in the WTA rankings.

How To Find (& Keep) Your Work-Life Balance

It is hard to do, especially now since I work from home. Because you have access to the system at any time of the day, some people – I won’t say everyone – but some people think that you are available to just log on to the system and VPN and do whatever they want you to do even on your days off or well after your shift is over. That is not just annoying and irritating but it should be discouraged.

Striking out a work-life balance is important. Just because you are home and the work system is with you 24/7 doesn’t mean you have to work those extra hours or be expected to drop everything that you are doing just to get back to sending a file or an email. I also hate it when I am watching a movie or tv show, relaxing from my bed when I get a phone call on a day that I am off from someone who should know better and send out an email.

That is the other issue – I even put my status on my company Skype account as to what shift am I working in so that some people won’t call me. Yet they still do. I think a good message is needed and sometimes perhaps an auto-message is also required but that shouldn’t be the case. I wonder how other people adjust to this.

Arsenal 1 Norwich City 0

Arsenal lifted the pressure on manager Mikel Arteta as they secured their first points of the Premier League season with victory over Norwich City at Emirates Stadium. Arteta was under mounting scrutiny after a miserable start to the campaign with three defeats that left the Gunners at the foot of the table, so a win that was workmanlike rather than spectacular will be gratefully received. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was back on target to set Arsenal on their way after 66 minutes, with a finish from almost on the goal-line after Canaries’ keeper Tim Krul turned Nicolas Pepe’s shot on to the post and the same player then struck the woodwork again.

Arsenal had an anxious moment as referee Michael Oliver conducted a VAR check for offside before the Emirates Stadium celebrate with a mixture of elation and relief. Arteta used his programme notes to call for patience after his side’s poor start to the season but he will know as well as anyone that the clock ticks on any manager who struggles to get points on the board, especially at a club with high aspirations. And that immediate result was at least achieved to get Arsenal off the mark this season while scoring their first league goal of the campaign, even if it was hardly a convincing victory margin and achieved against a Canaries side who have now taken the Gunners’ place at the bottom of the table after a fourth consecutive league loss.

Arsenal, on the balance of play, deserved the win and Arteta will have been encouraged by getting new £50m summer signing Ben White in the side together with key defender Gabriel Magalhaes, seeing new goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale mark his league debut with a clean sheet and the sight of key midfield man Thomas Partey coming on as substitute. The home fans, despite those poor early season results and performances, were vociferously behind their team from even before the first whistle, the news of Tottenham’s defeat at Crystal Palace putting them in good heart having gone into this round of fixtures propping up the table with their north London rivals at the summit. Emile Smith-Rowe was bright and breezy after coming on as substitute, forcing a fine save from Krul that could have settled matters while Bukayo Saka demonstrated once again that he is a real symbol for Arsenal, now and in the future.

How To Save Money On Pumpkin Spice Lattes

1. Join a rewards program from your favourite coffeeshop chain to get free drinks. Tim Hortons, Starbucks etc have their own reward program either on their app or website, choose a rewards level, start earning points and redeem those points for your favourite beverages, baked goods or food.

2. Look out for discounted cards that any of the coffeeshops have on sale in their website or in store. It’s basically a gift card for less than its face value, and you’ll get more for your money at your coffeeshop. Great way to save some dollars.

3. Or you can make it at home. Indulge in a pumpkin spice latte any time you like with this great do-it-yourself recipe that I had posted here on my blog.

4. Find alternate cafes where they might charge you a little less but the taste will still be the same. Maybe the ingredients aren’t as rich as the ones at the big chains but I bet you they will still taste as delicious if not more.

5. There are several Pumpkin spice flavoured creamers you can buy year round to add to your coffee at home. This list will give you an idea of which ones to buy.

How Would It Feel To Take A Break From Social Media?

Hmmm I dunno. I think the last time I took a break from social media was for a single day. And the reason was that I was suffering a really bad fever with a case of the shivers and joint aches. Therefore I don’t really count that as a real break from social media, since it wasn’t planned and the decision was actually made for me. But I think that actually gives me some idea of what it would be like.

I would find it hard to take a break of more than a day. I tend to check my phone several times a day. Whatsapp, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Messages from various apps and banks and delivery apps and offers from Flipkart and Amazon. Discounts from Ola & Uber. Sports updates. Sometimes it is crazy. Also I am obsessive in that I keep checking Google app’s recommended articles based on my preferences. It’s so addictive that I can’t stop – the first thing I do as soon as I wake up in the morning is to pick up my phone and check for anything important. Even before I wear my glasses.

When can I try out to see if I have the ability to stay away from all social media – I will continue to blog ofcourse – for a week. No Whatspp, no Facebook, no Messenger, no Instagram, no Twitter, no Uber, no shopping apps, no nothing. I think I can do it and it will help if I am really busy during that week so I won’t want to keep checking my phone or log on to the websites on my laptop.

Three Things I Am Grateful For Right This Second

What three things are you grateful for right this second?

1. One of the things I am grateful for is that I have a job in an industry and company that allows me to work remotely from home. I am scared of the dangers of Covid-19 and just the fact that I have this awesome opportunity to have been working from my home since late March of last year means the whole world to me. Even if we didn’t have the pandemic going on, I was looking around to see if I could work from home and was hoping that there were jobs out there that I do so remotely. To not have the job situation change that much despite the pandemic was a real bonus for me and a lot of other people.

2. I am grateful for the internet that provides me with all my entertainment, my source of news as well as my work. See without high speed internet, I wouldn’t be able to work from home. So it keeps me busy with work and it also lets me have fun. Which is great. Also I do make some money over the internet in terms of being paid for sponsored posts.

3. For food delivery apps. This is such an amazing invention. Whether it’s the grocery delivery for my eggs, sausages and cheese or buying poultry and fish or satisfying my taste buds and cravings, I am dependent on these apps. Especially since the pandemic since I don’t really go out much anymore. I am so grateful for food apps.

What Are Some Plus POints To Being Single?

If you’re single, share something you love about it!

Now I am not saying which is better. That is for each person to decide. However if you have read my blog for a while, you will know what I think about being single and being married. Anyways, since the prompt if about the things that I love about being single, let’s only look at the positive things about being a single guy.

You can easily stay in touch with friends. Trust me, it is easier for single men or women to be in touch with their friends, plan dinners out or drinks at a bat than it is for their married/married with kids friends. It’s hard to find the time to do much when you have a spouse and child to consider. One of the best things is planning a quick, on the spur of the moment night out with your buddies without having to check with anyone else.

Movie night selections, tv shows that you binge watch & music that you listen to is all yours to choose. I know a friend who has to listen to his heavy metal bands on the earphones only as his Karnatic Music trainer wife cannot stand to hear that music played loudly. And vice-versa! I pick and choose my movies that I watch over the weekend by Thursday and plan for tv shows to watch & rewatch all the time. No selection headaches, no compromises and no issues.

Making a decision for yourself will be less complicated. Now, I haven’t moved out of my hometown because of my parents but had the offers I received been really good (aka a really good salary that will afford me to life my lifestyle while also helping my parents) then I would have perhaps made the move to Bangalore or Chennai or Delhi a few years ago. Others can surely thrive if travel and moving is your decision alone.

Choosing the food to eat, the drink to drink is solely at your discretion. Today you don’t want to cook but want to order a pizza? Done. Chinese instead of the Indian cooking? Ofcourse. No time for checking to see what you can make at home so instead a burger and chicken wings? Why not? You pick the drinks and the food and you decide which day what you want to eat. Also guys tend to be a little bit more adventurous than women in general and may want to try some weird or odd combinations.

My Current Night Routine In The 8Am To 5Pm Work Week

Well since I recently blogged about my new & current morning routine, with me having been working in the morning shift for over a month now. 4 weeks of this shift, I have now gotten used to this new time line which will continue for another 20 days or more. So I have managed to form some sort of a routine. As mentioned in the previous post, I wake up at 6:30 am and start my work from 8 am till 5 pm. After I send my trainees on their merry way, I check to see if I have any other work to get to.

Once that is done I shut down my office pc, which is usually by 5:30 pm and go get a coffee. I look at what snack I can enjoy along with it, which since I am on Keto is limited to popcorn and peanuts. I also have Keto approved dark chocolate and I might break a couple of pieces to enjoy. I am now on Youtube and playing music videos and checking out Facebook and other stuff. Between 6:30 pm & 7 pm I usually go to take a hot shower (it’s not too hot but it is raining quite a bit and the water tends to be cold in the evening) and then settle down in front of the laptop again.

Unfortunately we tend to have team meetings at 8pm on a daily basis. And so I login to Webex on my phone and attend the meet which usually lasts for 30 minutes. By 9 pm I tend to have my dinner. I try to shutdown my laptop by 9:30 pm or 9:45 pm and watch some tv series shows on my tv. Usually By 11 or so I am sleepy so I will switch off the tv, go the washroom and then come back in to my bedroom and switch the lights off, take off my glasses and climb into bed between the sheets so I can dream about futuristic spaceships, me, a hot blonde, a Golden Retriever, 2 cats and a black Lab/Dalmation and some of our robots flying off to distance planets and fighting off evil aliens and have adventures as a family.

Keto Chocolates: GoWhey’s 70% Dark Chocolate Bars

So as part of the Keto diet I was thinking “What can I have for desert?” I looked around and found some chocolate bars that I can have which are Keto friendly. They are low on carbs and have zero sugar added to them. And it is dark chocolate! Which I like.

GoWhey is an Indian company that makes healthy deserts that you can enjoy while still on a diet. They started out with ice cream, with an initial 4 flavours and then branched out to another 4 more. They then launched their Dark Chocolate series with various flavours added and later on cookies. I am so glad that they exist because I was wondering as to what my options would be for desert. Other than watermelon I wasn’t sure if I could have anything but then I did think, that dark chocolate was good for you as long as there is no sugar added.

This was the first one I tried out. It is their Sugar Free Dark Chocolate 70%- Sweetened with Stevia- Keto Friendly and it is good. I like the taste a lot. I am slowly getting used to not having sugar and hence the stevia tastes good in this chocolate. Ingredients- Indian Cocoa Mass, Cocoa Butter, Erythritol, Whey Protein Isolate, Stevia. With No Added sugar and artificial sweetener, we use Stevia and Erythritol to sweeten the chocolates.

If I Won The Lottery

If you won a lottery, what would you spend it on?

I think I pretty much have answered this question a couple of times on my blog but let’s go with this one. It also depends on how much I win on the lottery. On checking online I am finding different amounts but one of the biggest I could find in India is Rs.1,00,00,000 (which is the equivalent of USD 1,36,218.20) that the winner wins. So ok, let’s say that I win that lottery, minus the 30.90% tax cut, I will receive Rs. 69,10,000.

A new luxury apartment is what I would buy first. I have mentioned it a few times here that I wish I could sell this apartment and move to a new one. One of the biggest reasons I haven’t is that, well we don’t have much money. Either I have to sell first and then use that money to buy the new place. Finding a place to live in the meanwhile is a problem. I, dad & mum could stay at my sister’s place but I wouldn’t want to impose too much. So winning a lottery would be great.

I would buy a nice, big apartment in the city and move our belongings to it. A nice and spacious 3 bedroom place. Then I would sell this place and keep that money in the bank or spend it to buy a few furniture and decor for the apartment. The rest will ofcourse go into my bank account or as investment.
