MY TOP 5 FAVOURITE TV DRAMAS I WATCHED DURING MY CHILDHOOD

Write a Post on Your Favorite Television Shows from Childhood

I love this prompt. However, as a big lover of tv shows, I couldn’t keep it to just 5. So…….I decided to do it in different genres. This list will be all shows I watched and were heavily into during my pre-teen years. So a couple of days ago I shared my top 5 sitcoms from my childhood. Today will be a top 5 for dramas  / action oriented tv shows and science fiction as well as one for cartoons. Oooh the cartoons are going to be very difficult to do.  Anyways here is my list in no particular order:

Knight Rider is an American action crime drama television series created and produced by Glen A. Larson. The series was originally broadcast on NBC from 1982 to 1986. The show stars David Hasselhoff  as Michael Knight, a sleek and modern crime fighter assisted by KITT, an advanced, artificially intelligent,  self-aware, and nearly indestructible car. He is joined by Edward Mulhare as Devon Miles, the leader of FLAG, Patricia McPherson as Dr. Bonnie Barstow (Seasons 1, 3–4), KITT’s chief technician, Rebecca Holden as April Curtis (Season 2), chief technician for KITT & Peter Parros as Reginald Cornelius III aka RC3 (Season 4) driver of the FLAG mobile unit.

The A-Team is an American action-adventure television series that ran on NBC from 1983 to 1987 about former members of a fictitious United States Army Special Forces unit. The four members of the team were tried by court martial for a crime they had not committed. They were convicted and sentenced to serve terms in a military prison, but later escaped to Los Angeles and began working as soldiers of fortune, while trying to clear their names and avoid capture by law enforcement and military authorities. The show stars the late George Peppard, Dwight Schultz, Dirk Benedict & Mr.T.

Starsky & Hutch is an American action television series, which consisted of a 70-minute pilot movie (originally aired as a Movie of the Week entry) and 92 episodes of 50 minutes each. The show was created by William Blinn, produced by Spelling-Goldberg Productions, and broadcast from April 1975 (pilot movie) to August 1979 on the ABC network. It was distributed by Columbia Pictures Television in the United States and, originally, Metromedia Producers Corporation and later on 20th Television in Canada and some other parts of the world. The series stars David Soul, Paul Michael Glaser, Antonio Fargas & Bernie Hamilton.

CHiPs is an American crime drama television series created by Rick Rosner, that originally aired on NBC from September 15, 1977, to May 1, 1983. It follows the lives of two motorcycle officers of the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The series ran for 139 episodes over six seasons, plus one reunion television film in October 1998. The show was created by Rick Rosner, and starred Erik Estrada as macho, rambunctious Officer Francis “Ponch” Poncherello and Larry Wilcox as his straitlaced partner, Officer Jonathan (“Jon”) Andrew Baker. With Ponch the more trouble-prone of the pair, and Jon generally the more level-headed one trying to keep him out of trouble with the duo’s gruff yet fatherly immediate supervisor Sergeant Joseph Getraer (Robert Pine), the two were Highway Patrolmen of the Central Los Angeles office of the California Highway Patrol (CHP, hence the name CHiPs).

Remington Steele is an American crime drama television series co-created by Robert Butler and Michael Gleason. The series, starring Stephanie Zimbalist and Pierce Brosnan, was produced by MTM Enterprises and first broadcast on the NBC network from October 10, 1982, to February 17, 1987. The series blended the genres of romantic comedy, drama, detective procedural and (towards the end of the series) international political intrigue and espionage. Remington Steele’s premise is that Laura Holt, a licensed private investigator (Stephanie Zimbalist) opened a detective agency under her own name but found potential clients refused to hire a woman, no matter how qualified so she invents a fictitious male superior she names Remington Steele. Through a series of events in the first episode, “License to Steele”, Pierce Brosnan’s character, a former thief and con man (whose real name even he proves not to know and is never revealed), assumes the identity of Remington Steele. A power struggle ensues between Laura and Steele as to who is really in charge, while the two carry on a casual romantic relationship.

Honorable mentions : Moonlighting, Charlie’s Angels, Airwolf & Dempsey & Makepeace.
