Some of Georgia’s most ridiculous laws include:

  • Residents in Acworth, Georgia are legally required to own a rake
  • Another crazy one of Georgia’s most outlandish laws include prohibiting keeping a donkey in a bathtub.
  • Gainesville, Georgia has an ordinance requiring fried chicken to be eaten with your hands. The ordinance was passed in 1961 as a PR stunt to promote Gainesville’s poultry industry.
  • There’s also a law against keeping ice cream cones in your back pocket on Sundays
  • In Athens-Clarke County, it’s illegal to make a disturbing sound at a fair
  • The State of Georgia has a law making it a misdemeanor to be on a public way or public property while wearing a mask or hood concealing all or part of your face (not counting Halloween of course)
  • It’s also a misdemeanor to keep a disorderly house
  • Quitman, Georgia has made it illegal for chickens to cross the road
  • Kennesaw, Georgia has a law requiring residents to own firearms
  • Atlanta prohibits vaudeville performers from rendering “coarse jokes”

Arsenal Confirm Signing Of Youth Goalkeeper

Arsenal have signed the 18-year-old after a successful stint on trial from Danish club FC Nordsjaelland. Arsenal confirm summer transfer as newest signing reveals key reason behind move. Nygaard says he chose Arsenal over other interested clubs because the Gunners suit his style of play. Nygaard will initially join up with Arsenal’s academy teams next season but hopes to one day break into the senior side. The teenager has revealed that he was attracting interest from other suitors, however he chose Arsenal for one specific reason.

Nygaard has described himself as a “modern goalkeeper”, who likes to have the ball at his feet and play out from the back.Such a way of playing is in keeping with how manager Mikel Arteta wants his Arsenal goalkeepers to operate, with David Raya establishing himself as the team’s No1 last season. The Dane had left his club earlier this year. As a result, the teenager was a free agent able to sign for the Gunners as soon as he had his 18th birthday on June 26th. Before signing permanently, Nygaard spent some time on trial with the Gunners as well as PSG, but he’s now put pen to paper on a professional contract.

The goalkeeper is a Denmark youth international, playing for the side at u16, u17, and u18 levels. This is certainly a good time to be joining Arsenal as a youth goalkeeper, with the club having released a lot of their former goalkeepers and with uncertainty around their senior trio. Karl Hein has signed a new deal, but he’s expected to go on loan this season. David Raya is still officially only on loan from Brentford, and Aaron Ramsdale has regularly been linked with a permanent transfer.

What Is Korean Fried Chicken & How It Became Popular?

Korean fried chicken, usually called chikin (??, from the English “chicken”) in Korea, refers to a variety of fried chicken dishes created in South Korea. In South Korea, fried chicken is consumed as a meal, an appetizer, anju (food that is served and eaten with drinks), or as an after-meal snack. Korean fried chicken was described as having a “thin, crackly and almost transparent crust”. The chicken is usually seasoned with spices, sugar, and salt, prior to and after being fried. Korean fried chicken restaurants commonly use small- or medium-sized chickens; these younger chickens result in more tender meat. After frying, the chicken is usually hand-painted with sauce using a brush in order to evenly coat the chicken with a thin layer. Pickled radishes and beer (or carbonated drink) are often served with Korean fried chicken.

Like many other dishes such as spam musubi and ramen, war played a role in the creation of Korean fried chicken. The concept of fried chicken was introduced when the American military was stationed in Korea during the Korean War in the late 1940s and the early 50s. US troops stationed in Korea only had chicken instead of turkey to celebrate with on Thanksgiving Day. They decided to fry it and share this dish with their fellow Korean comrades who never had fried chicken before. The Koreans who tried the dish took a liking to it immediately. Koreans traditionally ate chicken steamed or boiled and usually in soups or broths, so fried chicken was a new concept to them.

While fried chicken was introduced then, it did not become popular until decades later. The popularity of fried chicken was imminent when two factors came into play in the early 1970s: cheap, readily accessible cooking oil and cheaper chicken. he first Korean fried chicken franchise, Lim’s Chicken, was created in South Korea in 1977 and was influenced by fried chicken from the US.  Yu Seok-Ho, the founder of Lim’s Chicken, went to the US in 1975 and saw how Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) sold its chicken in pieces; inspired, Seok-Ho returned to Korea and experimented with chicken to create a six-piece set. Lim’s Chicken made fried chicken mainstream and it became the first fried chicken franchise in Korea.

Fried chicken in Korea became extremely popular by the 90s when every household living in apartment complexes in Korea could get it delivered, compared to the 60s & 70s where it was mostly for special occasions. Today, Korean fried chicken has become a popular dish in many countries and has been further popularized by Korean dramas. Unlike its American counterpart, Korean fried chicken is fried twice to get it to be crunchier. Frying the chicken twice also makes it less greasy. As of February 2019, there were approximately 87,000 fried chicken restaurants in South Korea; to put this into perspective, McDonald’s has about 38,000 restaurants worldwide.

Euro 2024 Round Of 16 Is Decided

Following the conclusion of Group F, today we have all eight matchups for the Round of 16 at the European Championship, with all eyes in Slovenia set on the third day of matches when Slovenia will face Portugal in Frankfurt. One of the most interesting matches of the Round of 16 will take place in three days when the hosts Germany will take on a strong Danish team, with the paper headline matchup between France and Belgium happening on the same day as the clash in Frankfurt.

My pick for match of this round is Switzerland vs Italy. France vs Belgium is also gonna be a banger as Belgium will want to make amends for the missteps in the group stages. Oh and Austria who were superb and exciting will be good to watch versus Turkey.

Unlike collars or tags, a microchip can’t be lost or broken. It can’t be removed without the aid of a professional veterinarian. So if any shelter, rescue, or vet office finds your pup or they’re brought to them, they’ll be able to bring them home.

Carry identification on you at all times

Don’t go anywhere without your passport or ID (Kartu Ijin Tinggal Sementara or Residents Stay Permit) as you travel throughout Indonesia. Your passport must have six months validity on it otherwise you won’t be allowed into the country. Make sure you keep your passport in a safe place, however, as pick pockets are common in Indonesia – they know you have to carry identification on you at all times. It might be advantageous to purchase a money belt, and even to keep a photocopy of your passport locked in your safe in your accommodation.

Refrain from gambling

Gambling, aka punting, is illegal in Indonesia. That’s because, for the most part, gambling is run by gangs. However, you’ll want to avoid gambling anyway, as a lot of the games are rigged so foreigners end up owing lots of money. If you lose and are unable to pay, the gangs won’t hold back from violence to settle the debt. Worst of all, because gambling is illegal, you won’t be able to seek help from the authorities. Approaching them could get in further trouble as you’ve engaged in an illegal action in the first place. To help you stay safe, note that gangs typically target single males travelling alone.

Don’t Do Drugs

This is not a general, corny message on posters. This is a real, practical, life-saving tip when travelling to Indonesia. Recreational drugs are not only illegal in Indonesia, they are considered a highly serious and nasty criminal offence. Possession and distribution of drugs are punishable up to the death penalty, and this goes for international tourists, as well.

It is actually against the law to be a beggar in Indonesia. Anybody who is caught begging in the public could be jailed for 6 weeks. But it seems that this law is a bit lenient to those who are really poor. This law is more harsh on people who pretends to be a beggar but owns a house and a private vehicle. It is not allowed for anybody to give money to the beggars. A person who is caught giving a sum of money to a beggar could be put in jail for around 10 up to 60 days. The reasoning behind this law is thought to banish the act of begging.

This particular law applies to the people who live in Gorontalo. Those civil servants who are already married must directly transfer their salary money right into bank account of their wife. The law worked and people were happy with it. The law is meant to keep peace and harmony among families.

Compulsory to Have a Garage When You Have A Car

In Jakarta, it is compulsory for someone to own a car to also have a garage or a driveway where they can park their car. This is to avoid having streets filled with a line of parked cars. By having a garage, the car owner can park the car where it’s meant to be parked.

Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen Opening A Franchise Outlet In Kochi

It’s finally here, though I had no clue that it would be. Well, almost here.  Famous American fried chicken company Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen is finally coming to Kochi. As shared in a previous post two days ago, the fast food franchise is opening up an outlet on the 5th floor of Center Square Mall which is under 2 kilometers away from me. It’s one of those fast food restaurant chains which I have seen online for years and years but didn’t think that they would come here. But here we are in 2024 and soon I will be able too taste some of it.

Founded in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1972, Popeyes has more than 50 years of rich history and culinary tradition. Popeyes distinguishes itself with a unique New Orleans style menu featuring a range of offerings that include Chicken Sandwich, Popeyes Signature Chicken and Chicken Tenders. The passion for its Louisiana heritage and flavourful authentic food has made Popeyes one of the world’s largest chicken quick service restaurants with over 3,300 restaurants around the world.

Popeyes entered India in January 2022 with an outlet in Bengaluru. So far, Jubilant has only opened Popeyes restaurants in southern India as part of its cluster approach and has rolled out the brand in cities including Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Coimbatore, Madurai and Manipal. I see that they have one outlet in Kozhikode, which opened on the 3rd of April and they have one more opening on the 26th of June. I am not sure as to when it is opening here but atleast it seems to be soon.

5 places you would love to visit if money and time weren’t a factor.

  1. Canada – always Canada. Well ever since 1998 or so, I have wanted to move to Canada and explore her cities, towns and countryside. No other place I’d rather visit and possibly even live in.
  2. The UK – England first, Scotland, Wales & N.Ireland too. The sights, the towns, the pubs, the people, the FOOTBALL!
  3. Parts of the US – I guess it’s safe to say that for someone like me there are some areas of the US that are scary right now. There always seems to be crazy things happening. But the USA has many areas I would love to see and enjoy.
  4. The Netherlands & Belgium – Holland is one of my favourite places to see sights off and I put Belgium along with them as they are similar in some cases. Beautiful cities and towns and football, beer and food!
  5. Scandinavian countries – I have had a life long love affair with Sweden (or atleast since 1987) and I want to see her. Denmark, Norway, Finland and Iceland too. Some of the cities in these countries look downright amazing.

RIP Donald Sutherland

Canadian actor Donald Sutherland , whose career spanned over 6 decades, dies on 20th June at the age of 88. His son Kiefer Sutherland, the actor, announced the death on social media. CAA, the talent agency that represented Mr. Sutherland, said he had died in a hospital after an unspecified “long illness.” He had a home in Miami. Starting in the early 1960s, he appeared in nearly 200 films and television shows — some years he was in as many as half a dozen movies. Sutherland’s chameleon like ability to be endearing in one role, menacing in another and just plain odd in yet a third appealed to directors, among them Federico Fellini, Robert Altman, Bernardo Bertolucci and Oliver Stone. Sutherland received numerous accolades, including a Primetime Emmy Award and two Golden Globe Awards as well as a BAFTA Award nomination. He is considered one of the best actors never nominated for an Academy Award. He was given the Academy Honorary Award in 2017.

Donald McNichol Sutherland was born on 17 July 1935 at the Saint John General Hospital in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada. He was of Scottish, German, and English ancestry. He graduated in 1958 from Victoria University with a dual degree in engineering and drama. He changed his mind about becoming an engineer, and left Canada for Britain in 1957, studying at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. While at London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA), Sutherland began appearing in West End productions. In the early-to-mid-1960s, Sutherland began to gain small roles in British films and TV (such as a hotel receptionist in The Sentimental Agent episode “A Very Desirable Plot” (1963). He was featured alongside Christopher Lee in horror films such as Castle of the Living Dead (1964) and the anthology film Dr. Terror’s House of Horrors (1965). He also had a supporting role in the Hammer Films production Die! Die! My Darling! (1965), with Tallulah Bankhead and Stefanie Powers

Sutherland rose to fame after starring in films such as The Dirty Dozen (1967), M*A*S*H (1970), and Kelly’s Heroes (1970). He subsequently starred in many films both in leading and supporting roles, including  Klute (1971), Don’t Look Now (1973), The Day of the Locust (1975), Fellini’s Casanova  (1976), 1900 (1976),  Animal House (1978), Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978), Ordinary People (1980), Eye of the Needle (1981), A Dry White Season (1989), Backdraft (1991), JFK (1991), Six Degrees of Separation (1993),  Without Limits (1998), Space Cowboys (2000), The Italian Job (2003), and Pride & Prejudice (2005). He played the role of physician-hero Norman Bethune in Bethune (1977) and Bethune: The Making of a Hero (1990). Sutherland also portrayed President Snow in The Hunger Games franchise (2012–2015). On television, Sutherland’s performance in the HBO film Citizen X (1995) earned him the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie. He also portrayed Clark Clifford in the HBO film Path to War (2002), earning the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor – Series, Miniseries or Television Film.

Sutherland was made an Officer of the Order of Canada on 22 December 1978, and was promoted to Companion of the Order of Canada in 2019. He was inducted into Canada’s Walk of Fame in March 2000. He had maintained a residence in Georgeville, a village in Quebec, since 1977. Hehad additional houses in other places, including Paris, France and Miami, Florida. Sutherland married three times. His first marriage, to Lois May Hardwick, a head school teacher, lasted from 1959 to 1966. His second marriage, which lasted from 1966 to 1970, was to Shirley Douglas, daughter of former premier of Saskatchewan Tommy Douglas. Sutherland and Douglas had two children, twins Kiefer and Rachel. From 1970 to 1972, he had an affair with Klute co-star Jane Fonda, with whom he had participated in anti-Vietnam war activism. Sutherland married French Canadian actress Francine Racette in 1972, after meeting her on the set of the Canadian pioneer drama Alien Thunder. They had three sons – Rossif Sutherland, Angus Redford Sutherland, and Roeg Sutherland.

Describe your most memorable summer.

So my summer after high school was a full 3 months (maybe a little more) in the year 1992 after my 10th grade. Back then yeah we had this system and this meant I and my school friends would now go to a college instead of a high school for 11th & 12th grades. I was happy that it mean we now went to a college, no longer had to were a school uniform and also it was cool back then to be in a college. But it also meant not seeing my school friends for a long time, except for the ones who would be joining the same college as me.

After saying bye to my friends, I wanted to stay in at home or go out with my cousins. But I started missing my buddies really badly in a few days. I joined a 2 month basic computer course in DataPro. I was restless and needed something to keep me occupied and make new friends as well. Besides it was only a couple of hours a day, 4 days a week. So this 2 month course at DataPro seemed like a good option and I had fun there. I got fascinated by computers as well and during my lab hours I would try to make colourful images on MsPaint. Remember that this was back in the Windows 3.x years. I even remember on seeing my designs, a manager of the institute asked me to try designing for sarees!

I remember these two very gorgeous girls who were in my classes at Datapro. Their names were Zeena and Geena D’Couto and they were fraternal twins. And my eye was on Zeena but Geena was hot too. I spent much time with them and in the afternoons I would go to the record store nearby and go through the various album releases and check out some of the music at the store. Ofcourse I also went to various places visiting relatives. Those were good times.
