Guns n’Roses Drummer Change: Goodbye Frank & Welcome Isaac Carpenter

Guns N’ Roses has parted ways with longtime drummer Frank Ferrer. Ferrer joined in 2006 and replaced then-drummer Bryan Mantia, who you know from Primus. “The band thanks Frank for his friendship, creativity, and sturdy presence over the past 19 years, and they wish him success in the next chapter of his musical journey,” wrote Guns N’ Roses. Frank first joined GNR during a show in June 2006 helping anchor the rhythm section during subsequent tours, including their recent outings featuring the reunited trio of Axl RoseSlash, and Duff McKagan. His last show with the band took place November 5, 2023 in Mexico.

Ferrer was also a member of The Psychedelic Furs, Love Spit Love as well as The Beautiful. He has recorded and worked with several high profile musicians including Robi “Draco” Rosa, Tool, Gordon Gano, PJ Harvey, Tommy Stinson, Nena, Frank Black of The Pixies, Neil Young, Perry Farrell and Cheetah Chrome of The Dead Boys. Yesterday GnR announced that they have a replacement drummer and welcomed Isaac Carpenter whose resume includes everyone from Duff McKagan’s Loaded,  Awolnation,  Adam Lambert to Barbarians of California, A Perfect Circle, and The Exies. Guns N’ Roses first show with Carpenter is slated for May 1 at Songdo Moonlight Park in Incheon, South Korea.

Carpenter started out in 1995 in a band that initially was a Guns n’Roses cover band Loudermilk in the Tri-Cities of Washington. After releasing their debut album of original tracks in 1998, they were dropped from their label.  The group later changed their name to Gosling, after changing their musical style to more of Queen & Pink Floyd. He joined the band Duff McKagan’s Loaded in 2009 and also toured with Adam Lambert during 2010-2012. When not touring with Loaded, Isaac began touring with alternative rock band Awolnation during their UK summer tour in 2014. He also recorded drums for tracks on Awolnation’s sophomore album, Run.
