“Age is just a number,” says the well-worn adage. But is it a number you care about, or one you tend (or try) to ignore?
Well it’s not just that we care about the number or the age in particular but it’s a lot about how we feel. You cannot defy the passing of time and we do not fact the fictional fountain of youth. Some people with a combination of good genes, taking great care of their health and perhaps a bit of luck can look and feel much younger than they are and well, kudos to them. But the rest of us do have our problems.
I am 40 years old now and although I don’t feel my age (and dare I say it, I do not look my age) I am terribly fat and certainly way, way out of shape. I barely get any exercise and it shows. And what’s more I do feel aches in the back and the knees. This is mostly due to my weight but also perhaps the advancing of age. No more a youngster, no more a spring chicken and though not old, I am certainly getting there. I need grease in the joints to make me feel better than usual.
So age is just a number in outlook. I do not like to be overly serious or talk only about politics and shit. Give me the dirty jokes, loud music and having fun. I do know when to be serious but I wanna stay fresh and young. But age is catching up with me.
