How We Celebrated My Dad’s 85th Birthday

I forgot to post about this on Saturday and then Sunday, it completely skipped my mind. I think Saturday it was more due to feeling tired while Sunday I was more interested in watching tv and relaxing in bed. But yes, this past Saturday – the 13th of January – was my dad’s 85th birthday. We had a celebration for him, which was held at the Lotus club. We had a small hall which could seat 40 to 50 people and a smaller room with a table for those of us who want to drink.

I was the last person to reach the venue as I had something related to work come out. I took a shower at 11:30 am and left by 12 pm but there was a huge traffic block due to the cops rerouting traffic. Hence it took me 60 minutes to reach the venue which was 20 minutes away. Once I reached we had photos taken, greeting everyone, then we had the cake being cut. I met a few people and talked to them, including a cousin on my dad’s side who I haven’t met since 1996.

Then I had a couple of beers with my dad, 3 uncles and 3 cousins. We had a nice time as the rest of them ate their lunch. Finally we guys had our lunch and then ice cream and most people had left by then. Finally just before 4pm we all left, I came home and took a nap, as did my parents. At 6 pm we made tea and had biscuits and at 9 I decided to buy us some sandwiches for dinner. It was a fun day!
