Would You Want to Grow Up in the Public Eye?
I would have said a resounding “YES!” a few years ago. Who wouldn’t want that kind of fame and adulation and having reporters and tabloids hanging onto your ever word and taking your photos to put up in their magazines or newspapers. But now I would have to say “Hell, Fucking NO!”
Who wants that kind of trouble? You have the vultures known as the paparazzi just waiting to take the worst possible pics of you and then share it all over the internet and the whole world see you at your worst look – hair, clothes, everything! They are unforgiving and unfortunately the people on social media can be cruel and make taunting & cruel jokes that no kids should ever have to see. Forget bullying, online bullying never goes away and everyone can see it.
So no, I wouldn’t want to grow up in the public eye at these current times. I love the way things are but my heart goes out to kids of famous parents who did not sign up for the notoriety and invasion of privacy that goes along with it. And I shall end with lyrics from that awesome Rush song:
Living on a lighted stage, Approaches the unreal
For those who think and feel, In touch with some reality
Beyond the gilded cage
Cast in this unlikely role, Ill-equipped to act
With insufficient tact, One must put up barriers
To keep oneself intact
