>It was while I was chatting with Jessica that I realized something – it’s been 20 years that I have been suffering from asthma! 20 years, that’s 2 decades, of my 3 decades and 2 years of existence on this planet.
I first came down with the symptoms of being asthmatic at the age of 12 when I got drenched in the rain, while walking from the car to the old Cochin airport. I came down with wheezing and cough the next day and was taken to the nearest hospital immediately and that was the first time that I knew that I was going to have this problem for a long time. I was ok for a long time after that but it would flare up now and then. When I was 19, I went to Bangalore city for a year and it was then that I started using an Asthalin inhaler or puffer (pictured above) as it is sometimes called.
I have had some good months and some not so good months but the puffer has been a constant companion since I was 19. I’ve had some really bad attacks but they have been mostly minor ones and if I don’t sneeze too much and stay away from strenuous excercise and dust (along with pollen, feathers and some other stuff that I am allergic to) it’s under control. Somedays like today, I got a minor attach at 3 am and take the day off to rest.
